Had an 08 Jeep Patriot that had an intermediate axle shaft break on it, had it towed to the shop (tow was included in the repair price). Great friendly staff. Always in communication with me and had up front pricing before any work was done. Great work, quick work once the part became available. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Jimmy took amazing care of me when I brought my 2015 Ford flex in for what I thought was a transmission issue. Turns out it was an issue with a section of my exhaust that was causing my entire system to get confused. Jimmy reached out to a local exhaust shop that he personally uses and had it fixed in one day for $300. He redid the free diagnostic and road test and nothings wrong with the transmission! What makes the situation even better is this all happened while I was down here from Michigan for a vacation and didnt have my own local guy! What couldve been a stressful disaster was anything but...Thanks for exceptional service Jimmy and AAMCO team!
Although I have not had service done with them, I felt the urge to write a review based on the customer experience I had with Jimmy and one of their other technician. I had called them once because I needed work done on my Ford Transit and Jimmy had not giving up 1 day to make sure I have been taken care of. The only reason I had not taken my vehicle there yet is because of personal problems with towing companies and the van is unmovable. Regardless, hats off to their staff. Incredible customer service. They really show that they care.
I had a check engine light come on my SUV after only owning it for 3 weeks. I was really anxious and overwhelmed and I called AAMCO after speaking with my warranty provider.. Jimmy was very friendly and accommodating with times. After doing the free multi point inspection, extensive road test, and diagnostic test, they discovered nothing was really wrong with my SUV. The codes were not cleared properly by the dealer. They were completely honest with me, they did not try to fix unnecessary things, or throw parts at me. This is the first experience I have had with any person dealing with cars that was actually HONEST. They didn’t charge me for a thing. Not the inspections or the diagnostic test- because nothing was wrong. I had a great experience and this honesty and level of customer care is certainly a place I would recommend to family, friends, and coworkers. Everyone deserves to feel this way when it comes to their car repairs and issues. I trust them, and they have all my future business and anyone who will listen. Take your car here!
My sister brought her car here for problems with her starter. She was told that her starter needed to be replaced and was charged for brand new parts after being told that she couldnt use used parts, but that it would be under warranty. More than several hundred dollars later, and her car is still not starting properly, and Aamco wouldnt even fix the issue even tho they misdiagnosed it, charged for unnecessary parts, or messed up the electrical during their installation. Its been a frustrating, expensive experience to have no answers and then be sent to a completely different auto shop because they cant help, even after charging to not fix the car under the premise and agreement if them fixing the car.
They do very good work. The only problem I have is the run around on when my car was supposed to been finished.

Have brought my car on two different occasions. My car was in for a couple of days. They communicated with me several times during the repair with status updates. After the mechanic test drove my car the manager/owner also test drove my car to ensure the repair was done well and complete. The prices were very fair. I would certainly bring my car back for service before taking it to a dealer.
I stopped by to get a second opinion on transmission work after being told I needed a rebuild by another shop. Turns out there was no transmission issue just a bad sensor. Jimmy saved me from spending $2500 at that other shop. I also liked the fact that they used seat covers and even a steering wheel cover to keep it clean and safe. Very honest and friendly.

Told us that our car would be looked at yhe day we brought it it. Four days later it was only looked at after we told them that we would take it elsewhere. Then, after paying for the service that was provided, we go to drive off the lit and the car is dead. No assistance was given to get the car running, but it was also raining. I will not be recommending this shop to anyone.
Can’t say I trust these people. I took my car in to get my AC repaired and it ended up costing me way more than I thought even though I already knew what the problem was. They “found” another issue that honestly didn’t exist. Anyway, they fixed my car, which isn’t the issue because I didn’t doubt their competency, but their honesty.Oh well, you live and learn. They got their money and my AC works.
I can’t even begin to explain the level of customer service and customer advocacy that this shop portrayed to me today. I brought an alternator and asked them to install it for me because I needed to go out of town the next day. They tried, but the store had given me the wrong part. The owner, Rodney, drove me up to the store and asked them to replace it, but they assured me it was the right part. So we came back and the technician tried it again, but it was clear it wasn’t the correct part because the pulley was shaped wrong. He went up to the store himself, and showed them it was wrong and got them to give me a refund for the part. Then Rodney called a different supplier and got me the right part, and replaced my bad alternator for less than the store had charge me for just the alternator! These guys are so great. Of all my years of dealing with car issues, this is by far the best that I have ever been treated, especially being a girl, most of the time people try to take advantage. But not these guys, sososo amazing!!!

I am in the military and will be sending my vehicle overseas. The vehicles transmission ended up acting up where no one could figure out what was causing the transmission to start shifting super crazy. I took it to AAMCO by great neck road and they literally jumped through burning hoops of flames to accommodate my situation. They couldn’t guarantee the time table to repair my vehicle but within 3 hours my car was in and repaired. I honestly could not be happier with their service and excellent customer service. Cons: Don’t waste your time here they will tell you they need to look further into your car problems to charge you more money, and the whole time they will be changing your car parts out with old used (pick and pull) junk yard car parts, and purposely messing things up on your car so that you can come back and spend more money.I know you guys need the rent paid for the car shop, but you don’t have to be shady and Disingenuous to people.Pros: They will tell you what’s wrong with your car for free, but only if you ask for a muliti free inspection.
My Car broke down while I was at a stop light. It was in drive but when I stepped on the gas the car would not move just made a grinding sound. I had it towed to AAMCO thinking I had a problem with my transmission. I told them what was going on thinking I had a 3,000 dollar repair on my hands. It only seemed to get worse when I found out that I needed to get my drivers side axle and 2 engine mounts replaced before they could diagnose the problem further. The staff was very pleasant and patient when they calked to explain everything to me. They replaced the axle and engine mounts and called me back to inform me that my transmission was good and they fixed the problem, they also told me that i needed to replace my coil pack, spark plugs, and wires because one of the cylinders was bad and was causing a misfire. When I ask them if I could wait a couple of weeks before I took care of that they were extremely honest and said it could wait. Now it only got better when I went to pick up the car, they explained everything they did to repair the car and went one step further by telling me that i could actually replace the coil pack, wires and spark plugs my self if I was mechanically inclined or if I knew some one that could help me. That blew my mind because they could have just let me come back and pay them do the work. I would recommend them to anyone needing auto repairs done because not only did they repair my car for way less then I thought and saved me about 9700 dollars because if it was the transmission I was going to get a new car they were very honest and now have a customer for life. Thank you Rodney and the rest of the AAMCO team for not only getting me back on the road but for going above and beyond my expectations.

I had the scariest Halloween ever, potentially needing a transmission and emptying out the ol bank account, but after driving around with me awhile waiting for my car to make its weird intermittent noise, Rodney figured out it was just a loose heat shield. I havent picked my vehicle up from them yet but I definitely feel take advantage of. Just based on my experience with them over the phone!! I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra and am being charged $4300+ for transmission repairs. I hate to say this but I feel like repair shops have a tendency to take advantage of women because there are many of us that dont know anything about cars... Also, once the repairs were completed it took me a few days to get financing in order and Doug was calling me several times a day. Once even calling me saying that I needed to give him the information (name & phone number) of the person helping me because he had to call and make sure it was legitimate. I have no reason to lie to him or anyone else!! I cant say that I would recommend them to anyone!!10/5/2016 - After picking up my vehicle and sharing my experience with the non stop phone calls that came after my vehicle was repaired Rodney, the owner contacted me with concern about my negative review. I have been offered an extended warranty at no additional cost. I cant honestly say that this was the outcome that I was hoping for but it is what it is...10/16/2017 - I was having trouble with my AC not working after my transmission repair I contacted Rodney and he made arrangements for me to bring it in so they could look it over. Turns out theres a bad AC relay, not connected with anything that they did but hes replacing the relay for me and I am very happy with the level of care and service provided here today.

After getting off to a bit of a rocky start (communication issues), Rodney (owner) took time to explain in great detail what would have been great to know from the start. He quickly called to discuss the issues and went above and beyond in correcting the situation. If you take your car to this location, I highly recommend speaking to Rodney about your repairs.
I would give AAMCO at this location negative stars if I could. I originally talked to Rodney when I was having transmission issues and he told me to bring my truck in the following Monday at 8am and they would fix it for me. I showed up at 8 and the terrible person at the desk said he was swamped and he wouldn’t be able to get to my truck for about five hours. He asked me to leave my truck but since I only own one car that wasn’t going to happen. I asked him since he had my phone number and that I live 15 minutes away he can call me when he’s ready and I’d drive over. His mind was blown. He said he couldn’t do that. He said he couldn’t wait the 15 minutes while I drive there. So to summarize he wanted me to wait at least five hours whereas he was unwilling to wait fifteen minutes. It’s been five days and still no call. I don’t expect one either since the concept of customer service or thinking outside the box with these people is well beyond their capabilities.
I took my car here and they did a wonderful job. Thank you to Rodney and the great team he has. Would recommend to all friends and family

Under a very tight schedule, I called in and explained my situation. They were able to see me that day and were very accommodating. Every single person I came in contact with, either on the phone or in person, was very professional, cordial, and willing to help. What I had initially brought the vehicle in for was not the actual problem, and once they looked at they car, they were able to easily fix the problem at no cost at all, saving me 200-300 dollars. I would like to emphasize the fact that the people at AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care went above and beyond to help someone and not make a quick buck. If I ever need any work done I would not hesitate to come here again.

I recently broke down at a meeting here in Va Beach. I came out to find a large pool of Transmission fluid under my suburban. I was aware thru my church (London Bridge Baptist) that one of our members was an owner of a Aamco location in Va Beach so I called. Within 30 minutes I had a tow truck on site taking me to there facility. They arranged for me to get a ride home pending there investigation of problem which to my delight was just a blown transmission cooler hose. The staff and facility was very clean and professional in the whole process and the repair cost was extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend Mr Kilmon and his Aamco team at Va Beach Blvd to all.
This Aamco is by far the best in the beach. Rod and his staff are very nice and willing to help in any way possible. Rod puts the customer first and is very friendly. I have my whole family take their cars to him and they as well have nothing but the nicest things to say about him!
They put in a transmission for. Us over a year ago and my truck has been running great. And anytime I have had a question or worry all I had to do is call and they have taken a look and not charged me for looking. They take the time and really care about their customers. My transmission burned out around the holidays. Took them longer then originally estimated. The price was fair, but afterwards car has been making rough noises, they said it wasnt what they did, but they would look it over and charge me to fix it. I had the car for 6 years and it never made any noises. I appreciate what they did but wont be going back.
Rodney was more than helpful. He arraigned for a car rental while my repairs were being done. He explained to me the needed repairs as well as suggested repairs and left the decision up to me. Doug was very kind and called me as soon as my vehicle was finished. I would recommend them for any of your car care needs.

So I have a 6 speed manual 2007 ram 1500. I was having some issues of the transmission popping out of first gear. I thought my synchros were going out. Brought my truck in and talked with Rodney. Rodney and I went for a test drive and told me that the new clutch that had been put in before I bought the truck was the culprit of my issues. The clutch that was put in was most likely the cheapest one the dealer could find to have installed and the procedures of installing it may not have been done in the correct way. Hands down the best place to go for transmission issues. Any other transmission issues I may come across I will be going back to see Rodney.

Very unprofessional I took my car there for them to check it out and when I came back to pick it up they started joking and laughing about me needing a transmission and down talking me insinuating that I was dumb or something asking me did I know that the transmission was bad when I brought it then tells me to my face that if I buy the the transmission from them that they are going to mark it up and charge me more money for the transmission then what they paid for it and proceeds to tell me that if I buy it myself and buy the wrong one that Im going to have to buy it from them anyway because they are not going to leave it on their rack waiting for me to get the right transmission it felt like entrapment to only pay them and no other shop other then them to do the work because they made like it was impossible for me to go anywhere else to get the work done right they even went as far as calling places on speaker phone to let me hear the price of the transmission all so they can continue to clown me and laugh some more all while continuing to hold on to my keys to my car so I have no choice but to sit there and deal with this they literally took up a hour and a half of my time with all of this all for there own enjoyment. I will never ever go here again
I was not informed that it was 90 dollars for them to take a 15min look at myVehicle. I was having brake issues and they wanted to replace my whole brake system for around 800 dollars. I felt that was high and took it back. After self diagnosing the truck I found out that it was the brake switch near the brake pedal that was faulty and needed to be replaced. After that, all was well at a cost of 25.99. They were professional and am not upset at the staff. It is always worth getting a second look.

Took my H3 there this afternoon to check out a noise and vibration that 4 other places could not diagnose. They took it right in, checked out the entire underside and found the problem. It was repaired and I was back on the road in less than 2 hours total. Problem is all gone, and it was fixed for a good price. The guys working there were very friendly, helpful and professional. I will definitely take my vehicles back there for any future service, and will recommend this garage to everyone I know.

They did not put my car back together properly. Went in for a transmission. They did not put the car back together properly at all. The steering rack was not properly re installed (have photo proof) so car alignment was totally off. They claimed i needed to repair that but i didnt, they needed to put the dam thing back together. But hey the transmission is good so far. Wonder if it really needed to be rebuilt. To late now

This Transmission Store went above and beyond to make sure that I had my 2004 Dodge Ram fixed immediately! They allowed me to sit and wait in the office where I could physically see my truck they showed my husband the old parts and they even did a free 10-day checkup to make sure that everything that was fixed was fixed correctly five stars is not enough the staff and the owner are phenomenal!!

Very professional business who gave me a fair price and had my vehicle reparations completed in an optimal timeframe. Along with fixing my blown tire, they were able to show me signs of potential stuctural damage they found and replaced my filters free of charge.
I woke up last Wednesday morning (7/1) and my car started but my gear would not move so I called AAMCO. They came and picked up my car in a tow truck and Doug was very helpful. I knew that my extended warranty would not cover replacing the part needed but he called the extended warranty insurance provider anyway. Doug was very nice to me every single time I called to check on my car. One time I called and someone else picked up (I forgot his name) but Doug had already relayed my information to him so the guy knew who I was and my situation. Anyway, I received my car the next afternoon, right in time for the holiday weekend. When I came in to pick up my car everyone was very friendly and Doug made sure I understood the warranty for both the part and the labor. This particular AAMCO was actually one of the furthest away from me but the reviews seem better than other locations. I definitely would go back to this location again for repairs and will tell others about this particular AAMCO’s service.

I brought my 2002 Toyota Avalon in to them because of a problem that I thought was a Transmission problem. They were extremely busy and eventually spent over 7 hours of running diagnostics and test drives on my car. They could not find the problem. They did not charge me anything (as it should be) and they were very nice about it and told me what they thought it might be and who they recommended for the problem. They even called up the other shop and relayed them all of the information so that the other shop would be able to hopefully fix my problem. I will definitely use this AAMCO again if I need them (hopefully not but life happens)
AAMCO in my experience has been nothing but outstanding. I have been taking my car to AAMCO of el cajon in California for years without any complaint about them. so naturally, i am going to look for an AAMCO in Virginia beach when i just recently moved here. sadly it didnt go too well. if your car needs an oil change then they cannot help you. they will tell you that this is not a jiffy lube and i should go to them instead. telling me to go to a halfway station tells me that, if my car does not have the check engine light on, or limping to this car shop then they are not going to do even the most basic of car maintenance, even with an appointment then with an added smart remark. so now i am forced to go to the dealership for basic maintenance. which is fine. the dealership gave me better service anyway. thank you AAMCO of Virginia beach for pushing me away to someone else. luckily there is alternatives.
So you can see what I wrote before: Id like to eat some of my words. I wrote this review and Rodney got ahold of me the next day. They had spelled my name wrong by one letter and regardless we fixed the issue and an apology was exchanged by both myself and Rodney. I went into their shop and we ran some scans. Come to find out all it needed was a tune up. Misfire was causing the jolt even though it felt like the transmission. I was more upset about the customer service part and they came through immediately and we resolved the issue between not being a customer and being a customer. The service here is great and I look forward to continuing to bring my cars for service in the future.This place is terrible. I took my Explorer in and had a rebuilt transmission put in. About 6 months later it started acting up again. I called to set up an appointment to have it looked at again and they said they had no paper work indicating I had my vehicle checked there. WHAT? So I spend $2500 to have a repair done and no customer loyalty. Im sure others have had a great experience not with me. I can not afford to dump more money into this transmission should be working just find after they put it in the first time.
As a 22 year Navy Veteran and being stationed all across the United States over the years I have had to take my vehicles into numerous repair shops throughout the country... And I have to say many of those experiences were concerning.... well I recently started having issues with my transmission during shifting and with our wedding coming up in less than (2) weeks we were really concerned.... I took My 2000 Ford Expedition into Rod and his team at AAMCO @ 1949 Virginia Beach Blvd and let say I was totally impressed with their complete personal service and thorough knowledge and experience. The biggest surprise came when Rod (the owner) personally called me to explain the situation.... he asked if I had recently had tires replaced on my rear of the truck which I did... He asked when did the symptoms begin, I explained just after getting tires replaced.... He that he measured the tires the other shop replaced and that although the same sizes/but different manufacturers my rear passenger tire was 2 inches smaller in circumference than the other 3 tires, thus the wheel was going faster and sending a signal to my AWD (all wheel drive) transmission like the truck would be slipping causing my transmission to chug to try and compensate. After the thorough explanation Rod said he is not going to charge me for the complete diagnostics check and that he would be surprised if I had to go back to him, but if after changing the tire I had issues he and his team would dig deeper. That day (Yesterday) I picked up my trucked, had the tire shop swap my tires (they also did this at no cost) and tested the truck.... After a 1 1/2 days of testing I have to say it worked. The transmission is working great... So Rod and his Team and AAMCO diagnosed and repaired my Transmission issue with no cost to me! Would like to say a big Bravo Zulu to Rod and the AMMCO Team at 1949 Virginia Beach Blvd.... True Professionals where Customer Service is Still #1! Thanks so much Rod!
Truly professional, fully commited to quality, and top tier customer interaction with the tech working on my vehicle and the owner. I had one little hiccup with my vehicle after i picked it up, brought my explorer right back to AAMCO and they jumped on the problem. Fast, friendly, and mission oriented for customer satisfaction. I went back to this AAMCO for another car issue because Mr. Kilmon and his team took care of me the last time. I had indicator lights on and trusted them to analyze and fix the problem without over charging me. I am very happy with the service I receive here and will continue to trust them with all my car issues.
Qaulity workmanship, realistic and very reasonable pricing. Repaired air conditioning at half the cost of what others were charging, i mean gouging. Its been several years and never had any further issues with the A/C. Who would have thunked it that AAMCO can fix an A/C at a transmission shop!! They fix anything.

My old 2001 BMW wouldnt start. I called Mr. Kilmon and AAMCO towed it from my driveway to the shop. They got it running again quickly and at a reasonable price. A big thank you to Mr. Kilmon and the his whole AAMCO team for getting me back on the road again!
Do not take your car there! These guys are going to rip you off and destroy your car. I went in for the clutch replacement and from a $800 job it ended up a $2100 job that went miserably. AAMCO said the synchro’s were bad and that will need replacing. When they rebuilt my transmission and replaced my clutch they called me to pick up the vehicle. When I picked up my jeep wrangler on Friday just before closing I paid and took off. After driving home, I noticed the issue with the transmission, but it was too late to return it because they close at 5 oclock and do not work on the weekends. I called Discover Bank that weekend to start the dispute, the Discover dispute department told me to try and see with the merchant, give them a chance to fix the problem and I did. That Sunday I dropped off the car and left the key in the inbox. Monday morning, I called them, and they agreed to look at it. AAMCO calls me in the afternoon and tells me the car is fixed, come and get it. I start driving the car and it does the same thing, I go back immediately and tell them what the F#$^ did you do to my jeep! The guy who worked on my transmission rides with me and tries to tell me you are not supposed to shift from 5th gear and drop it immediately in the 3rd or 2nd while going above 50 mph... while holding the clutch! I have had manual cars for 20 years and this idiot is trying to make me believe that while holding the clutch you have limitation in gear shifting. The transmission was making grinding noise and they did not want to do anything about it. I called Discover dispute afterword’s and they suggested to provide documentation that the transmission is bad and ruined. That same Monday I go to the jeep dealership and they tell me my transmission will need to be replaced! The jeep dealership and their mechanic of 17 years provided the documentation to the Discover dispute department. AAMCO ruined my transmission...a damage of at least $3000 and on top of everything...all the lies and dishonesty that they have said which I have documented. I have provided the documentation and uploaded it to the Discover dispute center and have been in the contact with that department on many occasions. Discover credited my money back to me in the beginning, only now to give it to those imbeciles! I am in -$2100 and cannot drive the jeep because of the transmission issue. I will have to sell it and lose over $4000 because AAMCO and Discover Bank F&%$*@ me over!AAMCO LIED:Page 2 on their report Customer returned on 10 Day for free complimentary check, that we do for every customer. HE HAD NO COMPLAINTS, AND EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PROPERLY!!!! I have all the damn records of calling and dispute records Discover! Because, you too just like AAMCO love to run over the little man!

I was very impressed at the outstanding service I received and it didnt cost me a dime. I should bring them a dozen donuts or a case of Beer for their services and honesty. I received direct and to the point answers to my questions and the best of all it was as honest as anyone would want to be spoken too. I was concerned about the way my automatic Mitsubishi was shifting for about a year now. I had a transmission flush performed by a quick lube center and the shifting symptoms never completely went away. I put on another 50 thousand miles and nothing has changed in the shifting and I figured maybe a filter and flush will help, so what better place to take a suspected transmission problem than to a transmission specialist like Aamco. I choose Aamco because of the reputation reviews and I can back up all favored reviews because I experienced this great company myself and I hardly ever take my car in for repairs. I seek good reputation and honest people to do business with and Aamco deserves my attention. They test drove my car and checked the transmission and Rodney gave me a thorough conversation that they didnt find any problem in the performance and if I wanted that filter changed anyway, that it required the transmission to be taken apart just to get to the filter and if they had to put that much labor in the transmission than I should wait until the transmission fails because the time of labor to have a filter changed would be the same to repair it. I dont like spending money if I dont need to and they said the car is fine and best of all the service was free. Thank You Rodney and Aamco at 1949 Va Beach Blvd. You will have my future business!
Active duty military 10+ years. This was done while standing in their front office while I was in uniform. Completely unhappy with the customer service they have. The guys behind the front desk were unprofessional when I attempted to find a better solution to meet my needs they got an attitude with me. For them it was their way or no way at all. Their answer was to charge me $590 put the vehicle back together still broken and push me out the door. In the end a $900 repair cost over $1700. They are money hungry and did not give you the details until they have completely disassembled my vehicle. Would not recommend using this company for any repairs.
***UPDATE*** After my review below, the owner of the franchise, Rod, in Virginia Beach called me to make things right. It makes me feel much better about my experience and he has taken measures to make sure that similar experiences to other customers will not happen in the future. He even offered to have my Durango fixed at a local AAMCO at no charge to me. His customer service is great and I appreciated his efforts to take care of me. No more one star review.***ORIGINAL POST***BEWARE. My Durango went into Limp Home Mode on my way to Virginia Beach from Grand Rapids. I was told that AAMCO has the best diagnostics around so I brought it to them. They had the truck for a day and said that the problem was the transmission and it would likely need a rebuild. They quoted me over $600 to drop the transmission and if it needed a rebuild, it would have been over $1800. I secured a loan from my credit union and was about to have the work done but my friend from Michigan convinced me to limp it back to Grand Rapids. GOOD THING I DID. He looked at it and determined that it was the Crankshaft Position Sensor and replaced it for a total cost of $50. Runs like it is brand new again. If my neighbor shade tree mechanic can diagnose it with a few flips of the key, then this repair shop was really trying to rip me off. Im positive I wasnt the first one and I probably wont be the last. Doug was the guys name I spoke with. Avoid this place at all cost.
As I sat and waited from my truck to be serviced, I listened to Russell interact with customers, mechanics, and other tradesmen.He is a quality man and should be appreciated for his work.
I felt taken advantage of and talked down to because I am female and know nothing about vehicles. I will NEVER go here again nor recommend anyone to go as well!
