Im writing a review after my 2nd visit because this business went from bad to worse. The first time I went was a few years ago. So I thought I would give them another chance Friday night. But the staff was so slow and non personable. My kids were excited to try it again, the girl helping us couldnt have cared less that we were there. What was supposed to be a fun evening, was mush less than that. Twice Ive spent over $40 on sub par ice cream. Never again. Ill be sure to let our friends know not to go and interrupt the non helpful staff.

Was able to communicate with the owner directly to make sure the food was safe for my kid with a severe food allergy and they even made theirs in the back so there was no chance for cross contamination. They went above and beyond, thank you!!!

It was our first time being here after reading such good reviews. We went when it wasnt busy, so I dont know how well they perform during their busiest times. The lady who helped us was very friendly. The place was cool looking, the way they made the ice cream was interesting, and they offered many different flavors. But, the ice cream flavors we got was just mediocre tasting. I had pistachio ice cream and it was really overpowering and it had a really fake tasting and somewhat bitter flavor to it. And it wasnt as sweet tasting as other ice creams Ive had at other places. Also, it wasnt creamy, it was more lumpy and chewy, which was weird too. We may go back and try it again sometime to see if it is any different.

Everything was great! The only problemIs that they give you a cheap dollar store plastic spoon the bends every time you try to eat the ice cream.

Amazing time, great place! From the clean lines of the decor to the awesome presentation of them making it right in front of you this place is a hit. I got the custard with cake batter flavor and mixed berries. The Custard was creamy and delicious. My husband got the Original (like a traditional ice cream) with Nutella flavor. It was bursting with flavor! What a cool concept and unique dining experience.

Very fun experience, would’ve given 5 stars, but I felt bad for the only employee there. You can tell business was picking up and there was only one employee making the ice cream, shakes, nitro breaths, and cashing out the customers. They really need to hire more people and not put all the stress on one person. She did such an amazing job !

I took my kids here yesterday and we loved it. The whole overall experience is so fun. There was one girl working behind the counter and she chatted with us while she finished to go orders. Asked if we had any questions and even answered reasonably what her favorite flavor ice cream was.We all ordered from the concoctions selections but, next time will maybe create our own. Omg I am a keto enthusiasts and the keto ice cream was amazing!! I had the strawberry cheesecake flavor and my husband had the coconut flavor with pecans. So delicious. We will definitely be back so i can add this business to my keto pages on social media!

First time trying sub zero and both flavors we got were great - we will be back the price for the pint was comparable with other better ice cream in the grocery stores so spending a bit more wasn’t a deal breaker and the freshness can not be beat. Can’t wait to bring our kids next time so they can see the cool way they make it

Ice cream and a show! Lots of good flavors to choose from and plenty of mix ins to get your personalized ice cream fix. This was my first time seeing ice cream made with nitrogen in person and tasting it. I was wondering if the ice cream would have a much harder, rough texture that would effect the taste in a bad way, but it didnt - the flavor and texture of the ice cream was great! The gentleman who took our order and made our ice cream was very friendly and knowledgeable, sharing with us details of the menu and answering all the questions we had.

We wanted ice cream Sunday afternoon. At first we stopped by Cold Stone but they were only able to take cash that day. Dave thought it was a good time to check out a different ice cream spot. He came across Sub zero while searching for one near us.This place is located in the shopping center right by Outback steakhouse near Indian River Rd in Virginia Beach.Please see pics. Its pretty cool to watch them make the ice cream right in front of you. Thankfully when we got there the line wasnt long at all. It started to get really busy though and since they have to make one order at a time if you come with a group of people then chances are yall wont be eating your ice cream altogether...but they did make it pretty quickly.Anyways, we ordered the peanut butter bonds in a waffle bowl. The waffle cone was crunchy and very yummy. The ice cream came with Fudge, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and Brownies, yum! We enjoyed it. They have a few seats available outside. Thankfully it was a nice day.

The experience is worth the wait. The dragons breath is not as sweet as you would think. I thought it was going to taste like fruit loops but it didnt. Regardless, it was still quite good. It wasnt as cold as it looks either, making it nice to eat right away. The workers were courteous and friendly and probably explained the menu so many times but each time they did it with a smile. I will definitely be back to visit this place!

1st time here and it s was amazing

Last night was my first time ordering from this place let alone even hearing about it. I was a little skeptical at first because Ive heard so many horror stories about liquid nitrogen, but I decided to try it anyway. And I must say they did not disappoint not one bit. The Chocolate Concoction was great, but The Magnetic Mint was out of this world... Just placed another order for The Magnetic Mint as we speak. I cant wait...

No flavor and really small portions for $15 for two regular cups.

Employees were playing hand off of who was gonna freeze the ice cream.. very unprofessional. Like no body wanted to freeze or do work. The girl that was making the dairy’s was piling up all the work on the other girl and not team working..Makes me not wanna return !!

My wife and I visited this chain in Atlanta, so upon finding this one we were highly excited. That excitement quickly dwindled as the key lime flavor was barely existent, both cups were over churned, and there was barely any cheesecake bites in both cups. All in all the product was a bust at $15 and subpar even being compared to Breyers.

What a wonderful experience our Preschoolers had during our Sub-Zero presentation. They loved the cool experiments with the balloon and enjoyed watching their ice cream get made. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and educational experience.

Came for the Saturday science demo and stayed for delicious ice cream, made right in front of us theatrically with NO2! Patient and friendlt staff, quick service, and decent prices. We paid $6 for a small waffle cup.

My ice cream looked like oatmeal. It was in little pieces rather than a smooth consistency. It also barely filled up 3/4 of the cup. It kept falling off the spatula because it wouldn’t stick together. But all in all, it’s okay I didn’t get more because it wasn’t that good. Definitely don’t go here, waste of money.

It was good the one time out of three I actually made it in the building...i like that they have a vegan base option. Why do you open at 2 pm tho? Why are you not open at lunch this area is busy at lunch time and you are right next to several other restaurants that are serving lunch and 2 pm is when everything slows down after lunch rush...i suppose its my fault for arriving at 12:30 tho still points off for the awkward business hours, points on for vegan option.

Sub Zero Catering and the server was amazing. The kids and the guest loved their ice cream and Sub Zero was became the most highlighted part during my 6 yr old birthday party . I am probably cater them again next birthday party of my daughter . The server was very gentle, polite, respectful and overall . All I can say is You won’t regret for Catering them because the ice cream is yummy and as well as the service is pretty well.

I was so excited to try this place after having liquid nitrogen ice cream in Florida. We came here and it was not busy, the employee was very friendly but I was not impressed with the options. They don’t even offer fresh fruit. They only have banana flavoring?! Yuck. Then they offer sugar free base but all the flavors contain sugar and the fruit they offer is smothered in a sugar syrup. To me that made no sense. And for those of us that want a dairy free option but don’t eat soy, well you’re just SOL here. I was really looking forward to trying this place then left disappointed and empty handed. My husband ordered one and tried to make something close to a banana split but once again only have banana flavoring, maraschino cherries and strawberries smothered in a thick sugary syrup. They didn’t have walnuts but almond slivers and pecans. And once again no other fruit options and forget it if you want fresh. And to top it off, his ice cream wasn’t even frozen all the way. I would think that Virginia Beach, being such a populated area and tourist location would have better, more health conscious places to eat but they really suck in this area. I’ll never return.UPDATE- RESPONSE TO OWNERMy family in Ohio love to visit the sub zero in Indianapolis and Carmel and rave that they have blue diamond unsweetened almond milk as a base so there for I was hoping for the same at this location being that I can not have dairy, soy or sugar, regardless if it’s organic or not. When I asked the employee what the sugar free base wasMade of, she wasn’t sure and when I asked what sweetener they use( because I won’t consume any artificial sweeteners like Splenda) she had absolutely no idea. When I asked if all the flavorings were sweetened, she said yes they all. Which then I thought well what’s the point of the sugar free base when you’re just going to throw an insanely sugar laden flavoring to the mix. When my husband asked for something like a banana split, we were told there were no bananas, only banana flavoring, I looked closely to the toppings options and realize you have very limited fruit options which i thought looked like a fruit topping that came out of a can, no one explained that it was thawed out frozen fruit. The walnuts were the least of my worries. I do appreciate the timely response and explanation but maybe this place just isn’t right for me and my dietary/allergy requirements.

Most people with diet or allergy concerns are super excited to finally have some viable options but with it being so busy I feel terrible holding up the line to deal with my specifics. Not a huge fan of the sugar free. The staff said it had artificial sweeteners in it personally Id prefer just plain old heavy cream. Difficult to tell which flavors are actually sugar free. Id love to see some specialty menus as well (low carb, keto(see pic), diabetic, vegan etc.) Overall very tasty! Super cool place we will be back!
