Store was clean and bright. Salesperson, Jystin was very nice and not aggressive. The online offer to buy our car was honored by CarMax. Their offer was better than any other dealer in northeast Ohio. The car we put on hold 6 days earlier was still there and available. Its the vehicle we purchased. We were very pleased with the entire process. We will be back soon for another vehicle.

The in-house part of the purchase was quick and “easy”, but I was a cash buyer. There was the typical push for added warranties, but after my initial no, there was no pressure. Salesman was pleasant. Received my title in less than 4 weeks.The negatives:Good luck trying to call in and get someone to answer. Not sure why they even put down a local number. Had a cracked plastic part that I was told to call back to set up a repair order number. Calls and even emails left unanswered.Was told all fluids were checked and topped off. The evening after I brought the car home the brake warning light came on. Looked under the hood and the reservoir was way under the minimum mark. Same with washer fluid and coolant overflow.
I got the best price for my car compared to several other places. Everyone I encountered was very nice & helpful. I went on a weekday thinking it would be quiet but it was very busy. The evaluation and paperwork was still quick and painless.
Had an awesome experience at car max! I drove all the way from Michigan just to get my new baby. Brian and Chimere was more than helpful, answered all my questions! Had my file prepped and ready when I walked in! A little delay but they were busy, so that’s understandable. I love my new fusion! I was in the market for a while and everyone in Michigan wanted me to put down at minimum 4k. Only put down 2k with car max on a 21k loan! High interest but with lower credit, I can’t complain, I’m in the process of rebuilding myself and Carmax gave me a chance.P.s I’ll try not to speed in my new turbo charged fusion 🤣🤣🤣

Price I got for selling my vehicle was awesome, even though I didn’t purchase one from them. Would have given five stars since the process was simple, but even though I made an appointment I still had to wait for 2 hours and then by that time it was after five pm and the banks were closed. So I had to come back another day. Once I was helped the associate was very very nice. Suggest hiring more people for customer service purposes.
I went to sell my car. I had a subaru on lease and I didnt want it anymore. They bought my car and I got the extra money after it was paid off. They were quick and efficient with what they do. And they dont bug you to buy one of their cars. I would recommend them to anyone looking to sell their car.

I scheduled and then rescheduled my appointment. I came on time, and was told that they were having a busy day and I would have to wait about 30 minutes. I got a bit disappointed, but decided to wait. I got a call from the CarMax front desk exactly in 30 minutes, and everything went very smoothly from there. The car inspection and testing took exactly 15 minutes as I was told, then getting the appraisal ready took 15 minutes - again, exactly as I was told it would, and finally I got a good offer that I accepted.
Has an appointment to get my old car appraised, its comes much lower than kbb but understandable since they have to make profits. Decided to sell it, had my wife get there(its under her name) from work. And they had us waited for an hour without anyone come to take care of it, which I had notified them she doesnt have much time. To make it interesting, the person who had my car appraised told us its will be in and out since it was very slow for them and they had quite a few people available to do the work.

I completed the online quote the scheduled an in person trade-in appointment. The appointment went smoothly with no issues. They were fair, inspected/verified the cars condition, and returned with the same price that they originally quoted. From arrival to finish, it was only 50 minutes.
Terrible customer service. I called them and was told that they take walk-ins for an appraisal. I drove 45 minutes to the store, and when I got there I was very rudely told that they dont take walk-ins and that corporate must have answer the call and that they are wrong. The customer service rep said good luck going somewhere else, we are the only CarMax around and we cant help you right now. There were 5 other reps just standing at the counter, who could clearly be doing something. Another customer had the same issue. Its really disappointing to see CarMax, who is typically an amazing company and almost always has great customer service, have such an unprofessional staff that doesnt care about service. You guys have to get it together in Cleveland.
We were surprised by how well our experience went. We purchased a truck that had to be shipped to Cleveland from New York. It arrived as promised. It was exactly as advertised, and the whole process was smooth and easy.
Only good time Ive ever had with a dealership the online process took it over the top for me. I knew my payments, interest rate, and approval before even looking at the car I wanted. Having terrible credit usually kills the experience for me but for the first time ever I was able to actually shop through vehicles I already knew I could get. Once we got to see the car it did have a couple issues I think shouldve been checked and fixed before our arrival but my salesman (wish I could remember his name) went out found a service guy to help and had it ready in 45 minutes without telling me they fixed it on a Saturday. I was extremely excited they got it going to I didnt have to drive home without it. First time actually smiling when leaving a dealership. Thanks so much for your guys time and effort put in to this sale.
I had a very horrible experience dealing with CarMax. I spoke with someone about transferring a vehicle from out of state. I asked all the necessary questions prior to starting the transfer. I specifically asked how long it would take to get the vehicle as 3 weeks from that date I had a prior planned Fathers Day vacation planned. The salesperson ASSURED me that the vehicle would arrive and be available for me to pickup in enough time. I asked her if she was sure because I would have began the process after the vacation because she states they don’t hold cars more than 7 days but again she REASSURED ME that I would have more than enough time before leaving for vacation. I paid the $199 and had the car transferred. Well the day the car arrived, I called CarMax and they told me come in within 2 hours. I drove all the way to the CarMax where they told me that 1. I needed an appointment 2. No appointments are available for the next 8 days.They told me they could attempt to squeeze me in but I would still have to sit around for 3-5 hours to wait. I understand how business works with appointments but this was ridiculous as I paid to have this car shipped and shouldn’t have to spend hours waiting around just to sign a paper for a test drive. I would not recommend them as they are all about the sale $ and make guarantees they cannot keep.

Brad was a great sales rep to work with and I highly recommend him. This was my first time at CarMax and it is very obvious as to why it should be a first choice for car buyers and sellers to check out. The entire time we spoke Brad was professional and friendly, we got to know each others interest in vehicles and had great conversations. He made the process of selling my car easy and was very clear and transparent about the paperwork and policies. When I buy another car in the future I will be hitting him up wherever he works, he is an asset for dealerships and consumers.
CarMax was very helpful and accommodating as long as it didnt involve a phone call. The online assessment was easy and quick, our in-person appointment was running smoothly until we discovered my lending company was no longer open for the day. We left the information there and were told theyd call first thing Monday and send an email when complete. This didnt happen and we called all morning and afternoon without any answer at the location, only able to reach the general operators who also couldnt reach the Cleveland location. We ended up showing up without an appointment Monday afternoon. Since lending/leasing companies are being inundated with calls, the CarMax staff waited on hold for 45 minutes to get someone. Once that was complete, the rest was fairly quick with paperwork and we were out the door with the check. Without the phone issues, this was a perfect experience.

I am SO frustrated right now, sitting in the parking lot shaking my head wondering WHY I can’t buy one of 3 cars on the lot here??Tried to call to make an appointment and sat on hold for over 20 minutes multiple times, decided to show up and there was a 2 hour wait to work with a Salesperson. Walked the lot and found x3 cars that would work for me to flat tow, turns out they all have a ‘random’ holds on them(as in no $$ down). Counter guy asked if I’d like to come back tomorrow and I asked, “What’s the point, all the cars I am interested in have ‘random’ holds on them??!!”Heading to the Honda Dealer where I should have gone in the first place!!

This review is simply based on customer service, It simply doesn’t matter what department I call, the phone will ring for 30+ minutes with no answer, no deviation to a voicemail or anything. The issue I’m calling about is actually because I purchased my vehicle over a month ago and I have yet to receive plates for my vehicle, nor any notification regarding the status and it has been nearly impossible to contact anyone, Especially the BUISNESS OFFICE! Does anyone even work there?

I’ve had about 4 cars in my life and I never had this kind of experience that I had at CarMax with Shelly. She was absolutely amazing and patient as she possibly could be. It was not easy getting me a car but she didn’t stop until the job was done. She didn’t try to force any car on me or just Sale me anything. She took her time and helped out. The place was very clean and the staff were friendly. We had an online offer for Carmax to buy our vehicle and I fully expected them to find reasons to reduce it. But they gave us the exact value they said they would, and we were really pleased. I would advise to plan to be there awhile if you go, though - we waited just short of 2 hours while they looked over the car and then did all the paperwork. I figured it would take awhile but it was definitely longer than I expected. But they bought our vehicle for a very good price so it was worth our time.
We initially received a written offer on 7/10/21 and was unable to sell the vehicle that day because it was very busy. We were advised to make an appointment and took the first available on 7/16/21 at 5pm. At this time, the written offer had an expiration date of 7/17/21, yet, they were unable to find our offer and began another appraisal. At the end of three hours, we had a new offer for $1000 less. We still sold the vehicle to simply get out of our loan. The fact that our written offer was not honored while still within the 7 days and we were not able to sell the day we originally received the offer is a tribute to lack of organization and technology and a great disappointment in the company. The staff was friendly, however, it makes it difficult to complete their job if the company is so grossly disorganized. A poor experience.
It is impossible to get ahold of them via phone. They sent my truck without a title, arent responding to my local store so when I do get ahold of someone the dude asks if I am an employee and I said no, I ordered a vehicle from your store to be shipped out. Guy is a complete a** to me, tells me they will just talk to the other CarMax store. Perfect..idk why they cant do that in the first place. Terrible customer service and beware if you are buying a vehicle from their store.

Absolute worst place to go to. They Lier you and give you a price for your car and they tell you they can buy it and it turns out that they can’t. You try calling them before you want to come in and nobody answers the phone. This is a nationwide company they can’t even answer their phone. Do your homework ask them to call a company that you have a loan with to see if they’ll even sell the car. All they do is waste peoples time.

Great experience! Two days after buying a Malibu the heat/air conditioning unit did not work and I took it back to get it serviced. The staff was friendly and professional. I was given a rental car from Enterprise while my car was fixed. Their 90 day warranty is true. I have 90 days to bring the car back to be repaired for free if anything goes wrong. Car max stands behind their policy and does an awesome job going out their way for every customer! I’m happy I chose to buy from them.

My husband and I purchased a car from CarMax using our credit union for financing. They have an option to return the car and unwind the deal, and after driving it for a while we were not satisfied and chose to return it. It has been 3 months and CarMax has not sent the payoff to our credit union. Were paying on a car that we no longer have. Everytime we call weve been brushed off. Weve gone in a few times to speak to the office manager in person. We will absolutely never buy from CarMax again.
Terrible.... My transfer was late. The vehicle sat for 17 days on the lot while they were waiting for paperwork. No communication what so ever from the company. I called every three days and finally they said it was ready. Drove 2 1/2 hours to the dealer. The vehicle was not cleaned or ready. Remember it sat at their location for 17 days before I came. I would not recommend anyone to shop at carmax.
This was the second car I’ve purchased from CarMax and I actually ended my returning it about 3 weeks after purchase and it was painless. There was no run around, no questions asked. I won’t hesitate to go back again.
I deliberately drove an hour to carmax, and the employees took half an hour to take pictures and drove my car. I waited for half an hour and didn’t give me a quotation. needed my email quotation to send me email, but I waited until the next day and didn’t receive any quotation. When I contacted carmax, he told me that the employee had made a mistake and he needed me to go to the store again. Valuation? Are they all stupid?

Excellent experience even if it was 10 degrees outside. The process took a little longer probably because it was so cold and since the pictures of the vehicle I sold didn’t all upload. However I already had an instant cash offer through Edmunds link to Car Max that was $800 more than what Car Max initially offered. They promptly offered the extra $800, and I was done. It was bittersweet for me as I was selling my deceased son’s vehicle, but they made the process as smooth as possible.

Price may have seemed a little higher than a local lot but when you factor everything else in not really. Finance was way better than carvana. Would of been 5 stars if shipped faster 23 days was a bit long but cant control the weather. I highly recommend at least people checking out the process and inventory before going to Joe blow used cars up the street that will rip ya off.

My experience could have been five star but there were bumps along the way and that I’m still dealing with that made it one star. The rep that I worked with was impossible to hear. They were not wearing a mask so that was not the problem and I’m not hard of hearing, I’m young and the rep knew they were soft spoken but did not speak up and led to frustration on my part in understanding the process and what the documents were. They were also not trained in how to handle a title in a maiden name which led to the process being longer than needed and the manager couldn’t have cared less to show them how to process it to ensure the check was printed properly. It wasn’t printed in the correct name and had to be reprinted and added to our time. Lastly the rep did not give me my front license plate or license plate holder. It was and osu holder. They handed me a carmax bag with the plate and didn’t realize until I got home I was missing the plate holder and the front plate and I’m still trying to get both of those. your call system and not being able to speak to anyone at the local dealership has made that impossible.

We drove 186 Miles to pick the car up.. ten minutes before arrival I get a phone call saying the car is not ready for pickup. There was an issue with a noise in the rear end..That got handled. The car had not been cleaned I took straw wrappers and cigar rapper from the back seat. It was not whipped down or vacuumed.

Thee worst customer service, they never answer the phones in the Cleveland location but everyone are standing around. They sold me a car with no exterior labels for a 2017 Jeep Latitude as if I wasn’t going to notice. I received a loner car and that car wouldn’t start and no one answered therefore I missed work!Horrible experience and I would like to be compensated for lost wages because I had no transportation.

The process to sell my car was ridiculous easy, the gentleman explained every step of the process and made sure to address any questions I had before moving on. Carmax was also the highest offer I received for my car, add that to the painless process...10/10 would sell again.
We went to our local Carmax, the sales rep was not very helpful or knowledgeable at all. We were looking for a suv which they didn’t have one in that location. We drove 5 1/2 hours to Ohio, bought the truck there and drove back. Truck was not clean Inside and when we got home we realized the AC and passenger tail light were not working. We took it to the local Carmax after 1000 attempts to get someone to answer on their service desk. This is all 1 week before our trip to Florida which we were planning on using that vehicle for it. We we’re leaving on a Wednesday and they called us on a monday that the truck was done. They completely forgot to replace the tail light so it had to stay for another 3 days. We ended up missing 1 day of our vacation waiting on our truck since we were not given a loaner. It was offered to us by Tuesday but we just wanted our truck by that point. Once all fixed, we get to Florida and get pulled over for no brake light, Carmax had replaced the wrong tail light. When we got back home a week later they replaced the tail light for us but if I don’t call to see if the truck was done, they would of not have called that day for us to pick it up. It has been a pretty bad experience so far.

I have had a TRULY AWFUL experience here. I bought a Chevy sonic on April 10th and began to have intermittent issues with the car starting and the key getting stuck in the ignition. I live 2 hours from the dealership and could not get anyone on the phone. After driving it with the issues about 2 1/2 weeks, the car completely died and would not start. After trying repeatedly to get ahold of someone, I spoke to TJ in the service dept and he was wonderful. He helped me get a rental and get the car towed to a dealership. It was there in the queue about 2 weeks and they replaced a cable. It at least started. I paid the dealership myself 133.00 and have had the car back for 3 days and now the key is stuck in the ignition!! And I’ve learned there was a re-call on the ignition button!! I’ve wasted hours and hours on the phone, messing with rental, spent my own money on repairs and still don’t have a working vehicle!! I’ll happily update this review once this is resolved!!!
