Highly recommend this bakery! I ordered a small lemon Chantilly cake and two dozen cupcakes (12 vanilla and 12 chocolate) for my baby shower. Huge hit! Lots of compliments, especially on the lemon cake. We decorated the cake with fresh flowers ourselves and those were from Spring Thyme herb farm. Also, Sweet Somethings staff was great. Will be back for next special occasion

I ordered the white chocolate raspberry cake for my sons 3rd birthday and everyone loved it! The cake came out beautifully and exceeded my expectations.

I think I found my new go to bakery! They were very nice and understanding. When I accidentally gave them the wrong pick up date, they were able to accommodate me to get me my cake sooner. Chocolate hazelnut cake was so tasty and their prices are reasonable. I will return!

This was my first time ordering anything from here. I ordered a 2 tier, LOL inspired birthday cake, chocolate and vanilla. Did not disappoint on any levels. Definitely keep that same energy and you have a lifetime customer. Everyone said it was the best cake they have ever had. Usually frosting are sometimes too sweet, but this was perfect. Absolutely no complaints. Please try to get adequate boxes for cakes with 2 tiers and up, hated keeping it in the fridge uncovered. Will be back for cakes in may, June & July. Thank you!!!!

I placed an order a month ahead of time; unfortunately, upon arrival, my order was not accurate or ready. Additionally, the gentleman who was preparing my order was not wearing gloves or a mask considering the pandemic (covid courtesy). In addition to my order being incorrect, he was high strung.

My wife and I used Sweet Somethings for our wedding cake in October 2018. Overall, we had a positive experience. Our guests loved the marble cake as well as the seasonal cake flavor (pumpkin walnut)! They did a great job following our requests for the cake decoration as well. At times, we found Sweet Something was a little difficult to get ahold of. Additionally, there was some initial confusion about whether or not they were able to do a gluten-free wedding cake. The lava cake option, which is their one gluten-free option, is very tasty but not what we were looking for. Overall, we recommend Sweet Somethings!

Incredible!!!!!! Truly, one of the last traditional bakeries in America. Every, cake, pie, tort, and cupcake...are perfect. The flavors are amazing, the staff is super friendly and the owner took and filled my order. The shop is clean and the staff are very aware of the new Covid constraints. And...the 13th cupcake is free!

First experience here after it being highly recommended . Ordered a cake for our daughters 3rd birthday . The cake itself was larger than expected but looked great . Only thing was the happy birthday writing wasnt added . I picked up 6 cupcakes while i was there as well . I ate one of the cupcakes myself, they were very soft and well flavored . I didnt eat the cake but the other half and kids said it was good. I would recommend this place .

This was the first time I have purchased a cake from Sweet Somethings! and I was a little nervous.... it’s was my mom’s 60th birthday and wanted it to be elegant and special!!!! It was a little more pricey than the usual go to... but totally worth it!! They were amazing!!! I ordered the marble cake with vanilla icing and the filling was white chocolate mousse and chocolate mousse layered!!! It was the best cake I have ever had!!!!! And the the 25 people invited to the party couldn’t get enough of it- so moist and so delicious! Great job sweet somethings!!!!! Its a nice bakery but a bit overpriced...

Cake tasted great and was delicious, but did not match the description on the websites menu. Ordered a chocolate raspberry cake and there was no raspberry jam, instead there was a raspberry cream. The actual cake didnt taste like it was soaked in raspberry syrup either. Maybe I should have confirmed when I ordered but the menu descriptions should be updated at the least.

Delicious cake! The woman who decorated our cake (I think her name was Joanna) did an amazing job. Like, she should be on one of those shows on the food network. Shes really that good!Theyre a little more pricey than other options. But in this case, you get what you pay for!

I have been coming to this bakery for years and its always AMAZING. Such a creative and uh unique product offering. I loved their baked goods so much that I carried them in my retail store until I closed. The owner, Lee is always pleasant and great to deal with professionally. Now I drive 30 minutes just to go to this shop. Love it!

Rude. Extremely rude. They do not know how to talk to customers on the phone or their Facebook page messenger as well. Applied for a job, got no response for 3 days. When I then asked if they were still hiring the response I got was we are but you have no experience. For customers realtions really I have 15+ years ?!?! Yet there were two postions opened, I was never asked what I was applying for only that I am not experienced enough to work for them. I have 15 years with customer relations and have ran my own crew of 40. So the next time someone asks if you are hiring maybe ask what position they are looking for and see if that spot is still open before you rudely tell someone they have no experience to work in your store. Maybe work on your managerial skills and the way you talk to people because they suck.

This is probably the best bakery in Wilmington. Ive tried an embarrassing number of pastries here, but I cant recommend any particular one because they all blend together into a single memory of blissful chocolatey sugary joy. Note that this is more a take-out place than a sit-in place.

Dont think about it...just go...you wont regret it, its awesomw.

Best cupcakes in Delaware

This place did absolutely amazing on the cupcakes and cake that I ordered for my daughter’s first birthday party! The picture I showed them was exactly what they did for me. I want to give a special shout out to Victoria who decorated the cake! She is so sweet! Even walked the cake to the car for me. I will definitely be returning for my other two kids birthday parties this year! They weren’t pricey at all either!

I normally get banana cream pie for my partner somewhere else and due to the pandemic it was closed this year. I was so afraid his birthday would not be special this year due to it. I found this bakery shop and bought Banana Cream Pie from them hoping it would be an okay substitute. It was not just okay, it was amazing. Today we took it out of the box and it was gorgeous. We almost didnt want to eat it was so pretty. It taste amazing too! Thank you for punching COVID-19 in the face and making an amazing birthday for my man!

I normally dont give good reviews that much, but today before putting head to pillow I have to give a shout out to Sweet Somethings Desserts!! They literally saved my baby shower for my daughter. They customized one of their cakes (Raspberry White Chocolate Mousse, cupcakes (Yellow w/white frosting), and sugar cookies so the color theme could come to fruition. On top of that, their cakes (also Chocolate Silk Torte, cupcakes, and sugar cookies were SO DE-LISH, EVERYONE wanted to know where I bought it from. When in there was going to order a cake for a friends birthday and it was about five people right there behind the counter and someone on the phone and no one acknowledged me, ok fine maybe the guy on the phone was supposed to take my order. Stood there for a few more minutes still no one said hello or can I help you. I will take my money elsewhere. Pretty racist and tacky if you ask me.

So l just got a cake for my husbands 50th birthday party a week ago. The cake was excellent, all the guests were talking about the cake. I took a piece to my coworkers who are still talking about how good the cake was. I did a vanilla with lemon filling and the top tier was chocolate and mousse filling. I live in maryland but I’m from Wilmington, de. I needed to get cake for my granddaughter. I didn’t want a ordinary cake with yellow or red flowers on it. I went online and and found the website and called, I only had about 45 minutes left to purchase. When I arrived, I saw the cake that really looked very good. So I made my purchase and it was the best cake I ever had. My granddaughter was so surprised that she was telling everyone to come see her cake. It was a big hit. Now I’m going to order my birthday cake. Thank you for baking such a delicious cake. This was my first purchase but not my last. My family still lives there so I’ll be bringing the cake.

Their cupcakes are divine!! They have fun, seasonal flavors, they always look gorgeous, and the cake is absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend.

We purchased a Star Wars “inspired” cake for my son’s birthday. The cake was not only beautiful but very delicious. I’m not big on sweets but I tried the cake and found it so good I went in for seconds...... I’ve noticed that a lot of cake makers sacrifice taste for that social media perfect looking cake, we got both!!! Very pleased

If it was possible I would give less than a star. I started purchasing cakes from this bakery for my sons birthday when they first opened. I got my last cake from them today. The experience was wonderful up until last year. I contacted them a month before my sons birthday and when I called them the week before to check on my pick up time and they had no record of my order. Luckily they scraped something together quickly and I chalked it up to a bad day at the bakery. This year I called to order and sent a picture. The owner called me back and said he couldn’t do what I wanted in fondant but I explained that I didn’t want fondant and that I was okay with whatever they could do with Just the regular frosting. I told him that was what they had done for me the years before. Let’s just say when I went to pick up the cake there was no decoration, and it looked like they had taken all of 5 minutes to put the icing on. I also loved how the owner couldn’t even manage to greet me when I walked in but when some other lady he must have known walked through the door he chatted up a storm. Guess he didn’t care much about a loyal customer because now he just lost one. Never going back again!

We ordered several kinds of desserts from Sweet Somethings so we could have a dessert bar at our wedding. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was amazing. I thought I ordered way too much, but people loved it so much that there was only a few slices left! Everything looked good and the service was awesome - every time I walk in there is a smiling face to greet me. I will recommend this shop to EVERYONE. In fact, Im going back tomorrow to get my mom a treat for mothers day! Enjoy!

Had a 30th birthday party at Bardea and one of the girls bought a chocolate cake to share with everyone at the table. It was so delicious! The chocolate cake layers were dense and perfectly moist and the icing was great too. The words piped ontop were nicely written.

We found this treasure on North Union Street in Wilmington after we made a wrong turn. How lucky for us. Over the past few months, weve gotten their White Chocolate Banana Cream Pie, Raspberry White Chocolate Mousse Cake and the Carrot Cake - all are outstanding.Overall, weve experienced excellent staff and wonderfully exquisite treats at Sweet Somethings. We highly recommend their desserts for any occasion.BTW - Re reviews from several years ago - the offending partner is no longer affiliated with Sweet Somethings. I found this out talking to a customer outside Sweet Somethings and its been confirmed online :)

I just went here for the first time and I love it. A man who seemed like the owner greeted me and told me what they had based on what I like. I didnt feel pressured to get anything and what I got tasted amazing. I will definitely come here whenever I have a sweet tooth.

Phenomenal desserts, with something available for everyones taste preferences. Amazing flavors and decorating details are spot on! Definitely a new favorite for our family.

Good palce a little difficult to identify as the color are dark green, employees are not friendly and they should have more variety of bake goods to go, maybe a couple of tables or chairs need it and the packaging is a little off, platic containers whit no liner. But they where flavor was good a above average bakery.

One star is too kind in my opinion for the place that forgets to make your children’s birthday cake. I ordered a cake for my twins’ 4th birthday. The girl taking my order checked with the decorator to make sure that she would have enough time to prepare my cake which she said she did. Imagine my horrified surprise when I show up on the day of my children’s birthday to pick up the cake they were so excited about only to realize that the decorator forgot to make it because she “thought it was for tomorrow.” I’m not sure how you make a mistake like that when you were there when the order was placed and the order sheet clearly said Tuesday, July 16th on it. What made it even worst is that instead of immediately apologizing for her complete failure she tells the girl at the counter to let me know that she will reach out the following day. Today I get a voicemail from this decorator saying that I can call her back if I want to talk to her about what happened yesterday. Once again no apology. How do you not take responsibility for ruining someone’s special day and failing to do your job? No accountability whatsoever. What a disappointment. And no, a free white, vanilla cake did not make up for failing to do your job!

Not many nice places in Wilmington, DE ...but this is one of them. Why bother with the disgusting, fake bake goods at Shop rite, when you can have delicious baked goods made with “real” ingredients?Love & love this place!

Amazing cake for my wifes birthday, commissioned by her brother. Perfect end to a great dinner at Krazy Kats. When they brought the cake out we were stunned! They did a terrific poker themed cake that we spent several minutes taking pictures of before they took it away to cut it. When it seemed to be taking awhile to get it back, we joked that they probably put it up on ebay and got a hefty sum for it. When we did get it back, the cake was delicious! Presentation and substance sometimes dont match up but this was one perfect cake in every way!

I stopped by Sweet Somethings after a friend told me about a cake she bought for her sons birthday party, and how amazing it was. There was a small office party we were having at work recently, so I decided to pick up some nice treats for everyone. I ended up with a variety of delicious cupcakes along with my now favorite dessert, the hawaiian sea salted caramel bombe. Everyone in the office loved everything! - including myself. I highly recommend sweet somethings for any type of celebration. I will definitely be back.

I am in love with this place. After 4 years in Wilmington, weve looked high and low for a good bakery and finally found it! This place is not only much more affordable compared to other bakeries in the area, but the cakes and cupcakes are amazing. For my sons 1st bday, I asked for a little prince themed crown cake and they did an amazing job - a work of art, really. The cake was so pretty I didnt even care if it tasted good. But let me tell you, it tasted BETTER than it looked. Got the marble buttercream cake that has layers of what tastes like fudge, chocolate and vanilla mousse. It was amazing and my guests couldnt stop commenting on how good it was. I was thrilled and we will definitely be going back to this place. Best-kept secret!

I placed a small order for key lime cupcakes this past week for a lunch celebrating my friend’s Master’s degree. Everybody, myself included, raved about how delicious they were. I can honestly say that it was the best cupcake that I’ve ever had. I had called around to a number of other bakeries in the area and none of them were willing to do that specific flavor unless it was a particular day, none of which would have worked for the scheduled lunch. Additionally, out of all the bakeries that I had called, the gentleman that I spoke with was by far the most friendly and helpful. When I came in to pick the cupcakes up, not only did Sweet Somethings smell like heaven, but the store was really clean, and the gentleman that cashed me out, who I assume was the same I’d spoken with a few days earlier, was just as friendly. I just wanted to thank you for wonderful customer service and stellar cupcakes! This will be my go-to from now on!

The owner chatted with her, took her order and completely ignored the fact that we were next in line. The cake we ordered was not as we expected. Bad texture and taste. Total waste of money.

I walked into this bakery yesterday afternoon. This was my first visit. The gentleman who appears to be the Manger or owner, greeted me as I walked in. An adorable little girl held the door for me when I walked in and left after my purchase. I was celebrating my boyfriend birthday. I purchased 4 cupcakes; strawberry shortcake, lemon, oreo cream and vanilla. We tried the strawberry shortcake together. Omg, it was amazing!!! It taste exactly like a strawberry shortcake, its very moist, full of good flavor... absolutely a perfectly made cupcake. Delicious cupcakes and good customer service. We agreed we will be back to try more.

Huge variety of cake.

Everytime I go here for a random cupcake or treat its good...similar to other bakeries in the area..but when I call and ask for something semi specific like a cake from thier site I get the run around. Its a Monday, its too late notice (for a plain Jane cake calling on a Tueaday for a Friday/Saturday pickup). Ive tried twice to order from them and both times Ive been given excuses. I do not reccomend this bakery.

I have had so many of their cakes over the past few years as this is the ONLY place my firm gets cakes from...because they are soooooo tasty!! I have had the carrot, german chocolate, chocolate silk, chocolate caramel ganache, lemon with raspberry sauce, chocolate oreo, and a chocolate peanut butter cake. I couldnt pick a favorite if I tried!!!! Fabulous...always!

I found this place while searching on Google to pick up something small for my landlords birthday. This place is smaller shop with open baking/work-space with open industrial look. I personally like that industrial look. When I went there they did not have more options out but they had enough to start with and more in the back as I was told. Gentleman who helped me was very helpful and nice. He explained me all different flavors and options patiently.I really like this place and will be open to go back. I even had a discussion with guy and told them to try CupCake War challenge on Food Netwrok..lolGood place to try!
