My experience at this store was similar to the last reviewer. The owner was very rude, did not help me carry a very large bulky box which I was obviously struggling with and did not take the time to properly evaluate the vintage lights I was trying to get fixed. The outdoor lights were dusty and a bit rusty. He told me “cleaning not my job. You clean at home and bring back”. Then he says “why don’t you just buy new ones at Home Depot” and starts YELLING at me that these lights cannot get wet and have to be under a roof. (Really? I’ve seen tons of unsheltered outdoor lights in my lifetime) Then he glanced at the chandelier, and says “all sockets need to replace $150”. I walked out of the store and vowed to never return. The woman that recommended him said he’d been there 40 years. Well it must be a new owner because I can’t see how this man can stay in business even 40 minutes.

The owner Larry is a down to earth no nonsense guy who is absolutely a master of the art. He is very knowledgeable of everything related to lamps and antiques. He designs and hand makes lampshades that are simply works of perfection...and they last forever (no glues: all the seams are hand-sewn together stitch by stitch). If your lamp ever needs repair, he takes one look and will figure out whats the best way to have it fixed, no matter how old the lamp is. If you happened to be around the Huntington area, go pay him a visit regardless if you need anything. Larry is very friendly and always have a way to make you laugh.

My mom, who is 87, went in to have a lamp repaired. The repair was fast, but $80+ to replace the switch? I feel he took advantage of her. Or maybe I was sad to hear that he was rude and dismissive, and that he didnt even have the decency to carry it out to the car for her. She wont return.

My husband and I just left Legend having bought 4 of the most beautiful lamp shades there. The owner Larry was so knowledgeable and friendly. His recommendations were greatly appreciated and absolutely perfect. Our beautiful, older lamps have a whole, new life and we couldn’t be happier. His inventory of lamps and shades includes many items that I’m sure you can’t find anywhere else. A very special store.

We took a lamp here to see if it was valuable before donating it to our Church fair. We were told it was not worth anything and wasnt in good shape. We asked for $60 and were told it wasnt worth it but would give us $20. Someone else in our family in this week to see what they were selling it for and saw it on the table without a ticket. They played dumb and asked how much it was and was told that it doesnt have a ticket yet because we just received it. Its an antique from China. Its $350.00. Do you still think Larry is a good businessman???? BBB will hear from us.**Wouldnt have even given this business one star but couldnt post without giving it a star.
