Great experience at this place. Ive tried a few places in abq before and didnt feel like I was getting what I wanted. I had a strat set up and another had the internals looked at. Both came back quickly and extremely well done. I have confidence that this is the tech your looking for.

I took my guitar to get an adjustment and Ian was very pleasant and informative! I felt very confident leaving my guitar in his hands. When my guitar was finished it looked beautiful and sounded great! He even noticed one of the clasps on my case was bent and fixed it without me mentioning it! The fact he went above and beyond meant a lot! Highly recommend!

Took my black star HT5 and had a powertube replaced and thats been over 5 years and it still is working fine. Of course the cost for me at that time was great and will always recommend this shop for your repairs.

I highly recommend Ian at Abq Guitarworks to work on getting your electric or acoustic to play its best. Of course the rest is up to you. :) Music to me is highly personal and a labor of love and Ian treated me with professionalism and provided excellent advice. He worked on an Indonesian made G&L ASAT Tribute (which because of another shop in town that is known for making classical guitars filed down my frets without my permission) and Ian was able to make it play terrific. I gave that G&L ASAT Tribute to a friend and brought a 2015 Gibson Les Paul which I didn’t get set up at first. After explaining to Ian where I was in my playing and technique and type of music I play he set it up great and have been able to progress more easily. I will go to Abq Guitarworks for all my guitar and bass needs!!

Ian is the only guy I bring my guitars to. I usually have him inspect a guitar that I want to purchase, and he hasnt failed me yet. He wasnt available one of the times I purchased a guitar. I took it to a nearby shop to have it inspected, was told it was ok, and it turned out to be a POS. Lesson learned. Bring your guitars to Ian for inspection, setup, and repair!

Ive taken a guitar and a bass down to their shop to have some work done. Overall I am very pleased with the service theyve provided me. Their prices are very fair and their work is excellent. The only thing that kind of bugs me is that its a CASH ONLY place, but its not a big deal. Definitely my go-to place for any guitar work that I cant do on my own.

Ian is a wizard at guitar setups. I’ve taken him two electric guitars—a Takamine and a Yamaha—that couldn’t be tuned. After his ministrations they sound wonderful. Hes also worked on an acoustic-electric and he tracked down an intermittent problem with the volume changing and even dropping out altogether. Hes also done setups on my acoustic guitars—hes about to get 2 more to work on. I have full confidence in ABQ Guitarworks and in Ian.

Like a good mechanic they make sure you dont waste your money on services you dont need. Trustworthy and knowledgeable.

Its quite small, and not particularly appealing to the eye. But within, it has a wonderful staff, that was super helpful. Forgot the guys name, but because of him I will definitely go back. Plus, they hooked me up with a few free acoustic strings!

Ian is my go to repair person in Albuquerque. So far he has set up a 1962 Jazzmaster, and restored a 1966 Mustang Bass for me with more work on the way. I am always nervous about trusting high end or vintage instruments to somebody but was told to trust Ian on a recommendation from a professional artist in town.His set up work and refinish exceeded my expectations and I think he is very fairly priced and knowledgable on a broad spectrum of guitars. Maybe even more importantly, he is transparent and has great communication.As a violin making student, I have worked diligently in mastering luthiere but do not like the stress of working on my own instruments. That said though, I have developed an eye for woodworking and notice things that some people may not, and Ians attention to detail is fantastic. A friend of mine has two instruments built by him and they are great sounding and playing.I would recommend Ian over anybody in town.

Best shop in town, been working with Ian for years now makes quick work of my guitars for a reasonable price. Mike overhauled a 5150 for me and it might possibly be the best sounding peavey ever made. I send everyone who jams at the armory to these guys and they all love it. Keep up the good work!

I took my Martin in to have an under bridge pickup installed (LR Baggs Element). Ian also made a new bone saddle. The work was done timely, affordable, great quality and with great customer service. Ive since moved north from ABQ but will be making the trek back down to have my guitars worked on by Ian.

My amp was distorting at low volumes. I wanted more clean head room. DynoMike was quick to charge me money ($50), but never actually resolved the problem. Could be the tubes. Could be the high output of the guitar signal. Could be a blown speaker. Could be the way I play my guitar. Eventually, he tried to convince I just need a new amp.Dont waste your time and money. Bring your gear to Studio Guitar. Bill just does work on guitars, but he will set you up with someone that can address your problem (pedals, amps, etc.).

I am amazed with the quality of the guitar repairs. He has so much experience with all kinds of guitars. All of my guitars (Fender, Ibanez, Partscaster, etc) that have been repaired or upgraded at his shop never needed a 2nd visit.

My father gave me a 1972 Guild D25 guitar which had beautiful tone but was impossible to play. We took it to Marcs Guitar many years ago and they promised to make it play. Sadly, after an expensive repair, the guitar remained far too difficult to play. It sat in a closet for years. A few weeks ago I took the guitar to ABQ Guitar Works after having an itch for a new guitar. After a couple of weeks they had the guitar repaired. The outcome far exceeded my expectations. I knew that the guitar could be fixed but I had no idea it would become the guitar that I cant put down. The price was reasonable and the repair was completed quickly. If you need a repair or even just a tune up, this is the place to go.

Ian is a master at his craft. I have since moved to Dallas and tried many of the top rated techs, and none of them comes close. Highest recommendation.

I dropped in to have these guys cut some string guides into the fret board behind the zero fret on my custom bass, and they had it fixed in the amount of time that it took to take my family to the mall...it was quick, and very clean...I was impressed, and I will be taking all of my business to them in the future - thanks, guys!

Snotty if youre not a professional musician or one of their friends. Unfortunately, ABQ doesnt offer much in the way of quality amp or guitar repair, so even its a back handed compliment theyre about the best youre going to do.

Needed some screws to mount telecaster pickups. I brought in the pickups and he took the time to match screws to my pick ups and said I didnt owe him anything. Dude! Thanks! I have friends who rave about his setups too.
