Very friendly, and warm atmosphere and people. Good prices! It was the only place with a selection of acoustic basses and even treated me nice when I was in an extreme hurry to buy a bass during my lunch break.I highly recommend Guitar Vista.

Best guitar store west of the Mississippi! Awesome selection of guitars and amps. No matter your preferred style, theres something for you here. Last time I stopped by, I played a sweet modified late 60s mustang, a 5 string fretless Carvin, a 50s Silvertone, a super strange, one of a kind chibson, and much more. Stan does an outstanding job curating his collection of instruments, amps and accessories. Its really an art to assemble a collection that unique and diverse. Ive been stopping in here every time I visit from Chicago for the past few years and itll always be an essential stop every time Im in town. Do yourself a favor and stop by, you wont regret it

Id like to thank Stanley at Guitar Vista for his grace, integrity and honesty. In 2019 I did a trade at Guitar Vista. Because of a variety of reasons, it wasnt until 2021 that I really started to play the guitar and, having tuning issues, I brought it into a luthier. I was told -in great detail- that the guitar had a factory flaw in the bridge placement. Because this guitar is very particular/peculiar in its build, the repair was estimated at $500.00 to $600.00 dollars.Stanley went above and beyond the call of duty to rectify this mishap. Hes truly one of a kind and I would definitely shop at Guitar Vista again, if not just to hang out with him.Much respect and wishing you all only the best,Tim Duronslet

My favorite guitar store, hands down. Stan IS the man. Pleasant, knowledgeable and very accomodating. He has a rotating inventory of fine instruments for all player types and all budgets. I wish I still traveled to ABQ for work because I definitely miss dropping in. You never knew who would be there or who would stop in and start up a jam.

Guitar Vista is by far the best guitar shop in the entire southwest. The selection of guitars, ukes and resonators is amazing - from old Gibsons and Martins to brand new high end guitars that will knock your socks off. Stan is the man and can help you pick out the right instrument. I love all the Parlor guitars that are small in size and big in sound and projection that Stan has. A real treasure to have Stan and Guitar Vista in ABQ.

Stopped by Grumpys and Guitar Center and left discouraged. I decided to go to one more place on my way through town. Stan was great to work with and helped me find a very affordable acoustic electric Eastman guitar, tuner, case and strap for close to $500. Should make a great birthday present for my 14 year old son. Thanks!!! I highly recommend this business to others.Ps. He has a really cool 1932 Gibson that I might be back for. Wow!

Local musician owned guitar and amp shop in the Nob Hill area specializing in tube and tube/boutique amplifiers. These guys are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to blues and local music lore around New Mexico. Comfortable atmosphere where music related conversations are often rewarded with helpful tips from the proprietor about how to get better sound from better eqiupment and always more satisfying than a trip to Starbucks.

I’m not much a review writer, but my experience was so positive that I had to spend a few minutes to write how much I enjoyed working with Stan at Guitar Vista to get the perfect guitar. In short: the atmosphere is welcoming, the prices are fair and reasonable, the selection is fascinating and you’re going to have a fun time.To set the stage, I’m a weekend warrior pick/grin type of casual musician and I had it my head that I finally deserved a Martin D-28. I searched the internet, found a few used D-28s just outside the high end of my budget. Leery of buying an expensive used instrument on the internet, I started calling local shops hoping that I could find a used D-28 in my price range and support a local business at the same time. Stan answered my call right away and told me that he had a few used D-28s in stock and that I was welcome to come by and play them all. In my price range he had a repaired 1971 D-28 that we thought might fit the bill.Despite living in the area and walking by frequently, I’d never been inside Guitar Vista. The unassuming outside contains a guitar nut’s cave of wonders. Floor to ceiling instruments. Vintage and new. High end and intro level. Acoustics, electrics, basses, banjos, ukuleles and amplifiers. The selection feels like the curated collection of an eccentric millionaire who prides themselves equally on quality and the hard to find. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and I felt at home right away. Walking in, you’re likely to be greeted by Stan and a gaggle of local musicians, passing the time and examining Stan’s latest vintage guitar find. Stan is extremely knowledgeable and determined to find you the right instrument. We chatted for a bit and he showed me his D-28s. The 1971 was great but didn’t quite feel like it was my guitar. So, Stan showed me half a dozen more. The selection is wonderful and eclectic. I got to try vintage guitars worth more than my car and newer models from small luthiers I’d never heard of. Stan was patient and clearly knows his guitars and makers inside and out. He spent the better part of an hour, if not longer, working with me, trying to find a guitar that really fit. Despite playing a large number of high-quality guitars, some of which I really liked, I didn’t find one that really spoke to me (that I could afford anyway; the mid-fifties D-28 had me googling how much my kidneys were worth). Then Stan pulled a case out of the back, and it was all over. The guitar is a beautiful Larrivee SD-50 in a dark tobacco burst. Sounds and looks like heaven and once I played it, I knew I’d found my guitar. I told Stan I’d have to think about it. I’d never even heard of the brand and it’s substantially different than the D-28 I’d set my heart on, so I wanted some time to think it over and make sure I was making the right call. Stan said no problem and I rushed home to do my research. It all checked out and I couldn’t get the guitar and the way it sounded and felt off my mind, so I called Stan the next day and told him I had to but it.Since then, I’ve been playing guitar before bed instead of watching TV or wasting time on the internet. I’ve got a renewed interest in music and I’m feeling more like my old self than I have in a long time. Stan and his work at Guitar Vista played a role in that, for which I’m very thankful. So, if you’re looking for something with strings that’s rare and interesting and beautiful, or if you’re a beginner looking for some kind advice and a high quality starter, or if you’ve got questions about that strange instrument you inherited and need advice from somebody who really knows and cares, I recommend Guitar Vista.
