I have been looking for a new eye doctor & researched this place & it is by far the best experience I have had in a long time.!!! I needed my kiddo to get checked out and she was super nervous about the whole eye doctor thing. They made her fell comfortable and safe. Thank you so much! Now its time for me and hubby to get our selves checked out as well. Thank you guys!! You rock!! There also affordable if you dont have insurance.

I appreciate Mike giving 2 different routes to go financially and the benefits and drawbacks to both. The office is clean and bright. And they take great measures to keep everyone safe.
Competent and efficient staff. The doctor is great.But we got an unexpected hassle when we showed up for our appointment over masks. Another apparent patient walked around the place with no mask, so I am unclear what exempts some people but not others from this policy. When asked about children, they asked if my children were both over age 7, I advised them no but then they reversed course and told me they both needed masks. It was clear I would be denied service without masks without any inquiry about legitimate exemptions or vaccination status.Good people, but heavy-handed and maybe arbitrary when it comes to mask policy.
Cedar Park Eye Care is like having your family do your eye exams. Everyone there is so friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Dennis always has the latest new equipment to make sure that you are getting the very best care. He is also just a down to earth nice guy! I would highly recommend that people let Cedar Park Eye Care take care of you and your family.

Overall great experience from website to meeting with Dr. McCarty! It was my son’s first eye exam and the staff made him feel very comfortable.

I was very happy with the quality of the product and the counsel offered by Linda Valdez and her staff.
New to the area I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Yaun. I was extremely impressed with him as he was very thorough, clear and easy to be with. He gave me a great eye exam with a new prescription. I decided to use the facility to purchase new glasses but on the day of my exam it was fairly crowded and there was no one available to help me look through the frames. I left and arranged a new date and time to return and look. When I returned, I followed COVID19 protocol for trying on frames but once again, there really was no one available to help so I shifted through frames alone then settled on a pair that Tommy said, yeah, they look okay on you. I bought them (on a Thursday) and left. I have a narrow fit and its REALLY hard to find frames that look good on me. Fortunately I took a some pics of me with the frames on then shared with a few friends. They all said...NO those frames are too big on you. First thing Monday morning I called to cancel the order. They said they were already in process with the Lab and there was going to be a 25% restocking fee. Over a $100 I had to pay to cancel the order. I find this unacceptable considering they said it would take up to 14 days to get my glasses back yet the LAB had already started making them by the following Monday morning. Really? The manager was extremely terse and uncompromising with me. Even though she said they didnt submit my order to the lab until Friday THEY had already started the process. To say the least I was very disappointed with the end result. I liked Dr. Yuan very much but the staff needs some major customer coaching. Or maybe this is just their way of doing business.
Dr. McCarty was so patient with my twin daughters and explained each test he was going to do so they understood and felt comfortable. All of the staff were kind and helpful.

Dr. McCarthy is the absolute best optometrist Ive ever been to-- nails my contact prescription every time, and has me come back if Im not satisfied. I wont see a different doctor, even if I move. Everybody in their staff is very polite, but Ive had some mixed experiences with the glasses department. The new guy Tommy is awesome, but their Covid procedures are super strict (which I understand, but its not ideal for choosing glasses and having them adjusted. They simply fit differently with a mask on while sitting in your car, and you dont realize it until you get home). Everyone was more welcoming pre-Covid, so hopefully we can move back towards that direction soon.
Cedar Park Eye Care came highly recommended, but unfortunately their COVID precautions prevented me from being able to schedule annual eye exams for my elementary-aged children unless I was willing to leave two of them unsupervised in my car at a time while I accompanied the other to their exam. This is an unreasonable request that I am currently unable to accommodate as the spouse of a deployed military member and without another adult available to assist with supervision. We are happy to undergo temperature checks, screenings, and wear masks, but this is not a feasible policy. Luckily another local eye care clinic was more reasonable.
Excellent service, while practicing social distancing, cleaning equipment thoroughly after each patient and staff learning a new integrated computer program. No complaints, my appointment was about an hour, normally 30 min; however, given the public health crisis and the provider’s measures to increase patient safety, I didn’t mind waiting and you shouldn’t either. High quality patient care, professionalism of staff and the cleanliness of the office are worth the wait!
My family has been going to CP eye care for 10+ years. Dr. McCarthy is great with kids. The littles and teens love him. Also, he is professional and very informative. We absolutely feel comfortable around him and this is why we continue to use him. The office staff has changed a bit, and they are all very helpful. It is a little apparent that the office is going through that new adjustment phase... just the slightest cracks in an office that has always been top notch. With that said they are all very friendly, professional and helpful. My star rating would be 4.9 but that option does not exist.

Super irritated about being notified about them not taking my insurance until the day before my appointment. Had to pay $414 out- of pocket, and will only get $80 of that refunded from the insurance. Dr. McCarty and the staff at Cedar Park Eye Care are amazing. I moved from Cedar Park to San Antonio about 8 years ago, and I drive almost two hours each way to see Dr. McCarty. He knows what he is doing and takes the time to teach me what is going on with my eyes. His staff is professional, yet warm and personal. If I could give them ten stars, I would.

2 hours agoI’m very disappointed with this practice . I’ve been going there for 10 years but recently unable to get an appointment in a timely fashion. An established pt with a problem post surgery and unable to get in for a month. I was told he’s taken on a lot of new patients because of the new office! Sad that money has to come to this🙁, they used to be great when they were at the old office. Anyway I’ll be looking for a new Dr. who’s not quite so busy with new patients .
After getting eye doctor recommendations from friends, I made an appointment with Dr. McCarty at Cedar Park Eye Care. I had my first appointment with him today and I couldnt be happier. Hes super sharp, very thorough and has a great energy about him. I live near downtown Austin so I ended up driving 25-30 mins to get there yet after the experience today, Ive drive double that if need be. The staff was also kind and attentive. Overall great experience and thankful to have finally found a doctor whos a true pro at what he does.
Ive been wearing glasses for 50 years, so Ive seen a lot of eye doctors during that time. I now drive past a lot of eye doctors to go see (pun intended) Dr. McCarty at Cedar Park Eye Care. He is absolutely worth the extra miles as I am confident that my eye health is his absolute concern. Add in a great staff and there is no reason to go anywhere else.
Ive seen many eye doctors over the past 40 years, and am the happiest Ive ever been with Dr. McCarty. Over the past 8 years, Ive found that Dr. McCarty never rushes and fully focuses on my eye care needs. His staff is very helpful and the office always runs well. The eye testing equipment is top-notch too!
Great place, doctor very friendly and knowledgeable, staff that did exam was awesome. Reason im giving 4 star because of the gentlement that I was working with to pay my bill. He clearly showed that he is not pleased that im not ordering glasses right away. He gave me prescription, I cant even read some of the numbers of it. He just handed paperwork to me, without saying anything.

Dr. McCarty is fast, and explains everything in simple terms so that you know whats going on. Never had such a great eye exam visit. From the front office, to the doctor, to those helping with the frames - the whole visit was enjoyable.

My daughter saw Dr. Yuan. He genuinely cared. It was a positive experience.
The doctor came in late. He was very agitated/ excited and spoke very rapidly. He was very animated and thought that every response that I gave him was wonderful.The exam took about 4 minutes with one eye and 3 minutes with the other. He then briskly walked me to reception where he and I went back and forth on the contact lense brand that I wanted. He seemed to disregard everything that I spoke and 3x stated that he was going with another brand.I had to then call my old optometrist, a second time, and again have them fax over my record and confirm my lense type. I was then given a pair of trial contacts that prevented me from reading text as close as the tip of my nose, I was then asked to schedule a second appointment at a later date.I disposed of the trial pair at the end of the day and will be visiting a trusted doctor on s. Congress who doesn’t accept my insurance. I will pay out of pocket, but I will have peace of mind that my prescription will be correct.

In August, I saw Dr. McCarty for a routine eye exam. Everything went well with the exam, but on Thanksgiving Day I started seeing some black spots on the walls followed by flashes of light on the outside corner of my eye. I was concerned, so I called Dr. McCartys office and was able to get an appointment the following morning. His assistant ran a couple of tests and took new pictures of my eyes. After checking my vision, Dr. McCarty explained to me that I had a normal eye condition. Im so glad that I was able to get it checked out quickly and it was not a reason for worry. The staff at Cedar Park Eye Care was very friendly and helpful during both visits.

Update:I have mixed feelings on how to rate this place, because again, Dr. McCarty is great. He called after my previous review and offered to have new lenses made that he thought might work better for me transitioning from single vision lenses. He really listened to my concerns, and seemed to agree that adjusting the distance vision a little lower might help. By the end of our conversation, it sounded like the worst case scenario was that I would be out the 25% restocking fee if I didn’t like the new style of lens.I went in today to pick up the frames with the new lenses. A nice young man went in the back to get them. I could hear Wayne, the frames manager, who had been the one to previously tell me I just wasn’t trying hard enough to find the right focal points, tell the guy that I had only 10-15 minutes to figure out if I liked them, and that if I took them home I couldn’t return them at all. His tone of voice was oozing attitude, as were all of my following direct interactions with him this morning. I wore the new glasses around the office for a few minutes, and they definitely seemed better than the previous pair. I let Wayne know that I didn’t realize that I’d have a mere 10-15 minutes to make a $425 decision when I agreed to have them remade. While I’m pretty positive that these lenses would have worked fine for me, in the end that was a big gamble to take when I wasn’t allowed to try them out at home. On top of that, we don’t typically spend that kind of money with sales people who are so rude.Dr. McCarty did his best to make the situation right, and I believe he did in that I was able to see much better out of the new lenses. However, Wayne lost the sale on the frames and lenses, and I’m out some time and money. I will definitely return for eye exams, though.Original review:Dr. McCarty is wonderful. This review is in reference to the office and eye glass practices.I finally decided to try progressive lenses for the first time. I was told that I had to switch from plastic to metal frames because the glasses had to be worn at the very top of my nose. When I got my nearly $600 glasses, I couldnt see out of them for either distance or midrange vision. I could get distance a little better if I pulled them WAY down on my nose. I was told there was nothing wrong with the prescription or the measurements, and that it was all my fault I couldnt see out of them. I went to return them today and they charged a 25% restocking fee. While they list the 25% fee on the receipt, its pretty shady practices to charge someone nearly $150 to return glasses when they literally cant see out of them. Lesson learned about buying glasses here!

I was told they dont know why theyre more expensive, but possibly shipping. Im sure other stores pay shipping too, but thats a really huge bump in price. The other Ray-Ban sunglasses in the store were all around retail, so they werent being sold for 25% more.I was asking if someone could please help me understand and no one could tell me why. Youd think if a customer has a concern, then the business has an obligation to help that customer and provide an answer. Saying you dont know doesnt help the customer. I would have hoped that someone would have called Ray-Ban to ask or something. It just seems to me that if my business was charged $198 for the exact same pair of glasses that retail for $150 elsewhere, Id want to know why my business isnt getting the same price. Once you know, tell your customer. Saying I dont know isnt good customer service.I almost feel that I shouldnt have mentioned the discount on non-prescription sunglasses. It would be a real shame if I was price gouged since my discount cut into the sale. It is a question that still lingers.I had a bad experience and wont be going back. I also need to consider whether my kids are going back too. Great care from Dr. McCarty!! Personable, quick, precise, and very friendly. 5/5 for him and his tech!I would give this office a 5 Star if the optical guy Wayne wasn’t in the equation. But unfortunately he is a big part of the practice, and where they would draw in most of their money, you know- selling frames and contacts. But he insists on making you feel like a burden for wanting something specific, so I’ll go into great detail about my specific situation. They carry a brand of frame called Etnia Barcelona. Cute as can be right? I’d love a pair. So I tried them all on, and then got on Etnia Barcelona’s website and saw they offer free shipping and free returns TO YOUR OPTICAL OFFICE. Great, right? Not to Wayne. Wayne believes that this isn’t an option, and tells me he can order the frames himself but he will only order one (specifying that he didn’t want to pay for the shipping). Cool business operation.... so, I order a different COLOR of the frame they already carry. They arrived, and I didn’t like the color way. So I contacted Etnia Barcelona myself to confirm the process. And they certainly ship and return for free. No leg work for Wayne, except accepting a call to approve the shipment with no commitment to them. So, here I am, a PAYING customer, brand new to the office mind you, so it’s not like I have a track record of costing them millions. So I call Wayne, and inform him that is the process and he is short, and rude like normal with me. But, I’ve had enough of his attitude so I asked him what his solution was. He said it can’t be put on their account because he doesn’t want to pay to order frames. GOT IT. I told him ‘you’ve made that pretty clear to me that you don’t want to pay for shipping’. And then he proceeds to tell me they won’t be covered under my insurance ? WHAT????????? So the in house frames from Etnia that they carry, are covered. But different models aren’t? Not true. Verifyed with my insurance. And when I asked Wayne to explain why they weren’t covered, his response was ‘there has to be a verified purchase showing it coming from our office.’ Oh- okay. So because you’re refusing to pay shipping to gain a sale, (which I’ve alleviated, as a customer, MIND YOU) I cannot order a different frame. What. A. Joke. I’ve yet to see where I’m being unreasonable. The reason is because he doesn’t want to pay shipping- PERIOD. It isn’t because they’re unable. It isn’t because they don’t carry that brand. And it isn’t because that brand doesn’t want to give them more models. I’ve filled in the voids that I was left with, and at this point I’ve strongly considered taking my business elsewhere.So, here I am, doing this much leg work to give my money to this optical office. This makes me want to come back and bring our whole family. Great work!

Ive been going to this office for my eye exams and glasses for years. Dr. McCarty has had some of the same staff for much of that time. This speaks very well of the entire office and how things there are run. For years to come, I plan to continue going there for all my eye care needs.
