The #6 breakfast sandwich on a cheddar biscuit was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious! Everyone seemed really nice. My mom also loved her croissant and blueberry muffin, which she said were some of the best she’s ever had.Only four stars because the coffees weren’t that good. But still worth a visit for the food alone!
Serving bad avocados is not okay. I own a food business myself and I understand the difficulties with avocados, but this is the second time this happens.I’ve probably ordered the same sandwich about 6 times. 2 out of the 6 this has happened, hence the not bad rating, but one time it happened with friends I had hyped up about your business.I can’t share your business with other people because the quality is not consistent. Something in your operations needs a closer look. All that being said, I really hope it gets better since I love your #3 on cheddar biscuit.
I prefer this location over the East St location. Staff is more attentive and location provides ample space (inside) to have breakfast without feeling like a sardine.
Awesome staff, nice atmosphere inside of Sunflower Baking Company. There were many delicious baked goods, all priced between $3-4, with there also being made-to-order sandwiches available as well. Loved the quaint atmosphere here. Great place to grab a quick bite to eat.
Very nice aesthetically pleasing cafe. They serve more than just fresh brewed coffee, but wonderfully baked bread and baked goods. The workers were very nice and professional. I simply cannot understand the negative reviews, but I suppose some people are just looking to complain. All in all, I look forward to returning to eat here.
This place can get really busy, especially in the morning, but for good reason. They have a great breakfast sandwiches, especially if you get the cheddar biscuit! Cant recommend it enough, it is humongous, filling and full of flavor.
Im sorry but my experience at this sunflour wasnt pleasant 😕 I waited 35 minutes for a egg sandwich, the young man at the counter did offer me a muffin.I like the one on Mallard better 😌 sorry
The white girl at the front needs to do a better job at acknowledging incoming customers. I literally stood there for 2 mins, with her not providing any assistance
I was just in sunflower and the lady was very short with us and was not the nicest lady, she seemed like she didn’t want to be there and my friend went in 1 minute after they closed to get some water because she was really dehydrated and the lady snapped at her and said we’re closed in a very snappy way and we sat outside since they were closed and she came outside 2 mins later and said I’m going to need that table in a mean tone. I’ve always loved sunflower and I go there all the time and they are always so nice and kind there so I don’t know why she was so snappy with us.
Ordered DD and they left off a whole order, when I called the store Courtney went above and beyond to make sure we got our order delivered, and was super sweet and helpful. The food is phenomenal!
This place is so yummy and fresh. I wish my house smelt like this bakery all the time. The organic coffee bar is nothing short of stellar and I have never had a treat I didnt like. They have so many flavors of cakes/cupcakes to choose from but there seasonal menus are where the creativity really shines! Im always excited to see what they come up with. I have also ordered from Sunflour for a private event and they did not disappoint. The desserts were the talk of the party. BONUS: they have vegan as well as gluten free options for their treats and are very accommodating to your needs. Staff was more than helpful and just super pleasant to work with.
Good food and coffee, but the absolute slowest service! I want to come here, to a local business, so much more than the Starbucks down the street, but they make it very difficult especially when I just want to grab a quick coffee on my way to work. The most frustrating part is they’ll have multiple people behind the counter, but only one person doing coffee and that’s what everyone is waiting on.
Weve always loved coming to Sunflour - they have the best BLT on their cheddar biscuits. Because of the slow service however, we hadnt been in quite some time. We decided to try it again this past weekend and placed an online order for 4 sandwiches. After the order was confirmed, it said it would be ready at 10:15. We arrived a few minutes late at 10:20, expecting it to be ready but it was not. I stood by the prepaid order pick up without being acknowledged for over 5 minutes while workers were just pidding around. After finally getting the attention of someone, I was told our order was not ready and it would be up next. Fast forward 15 more minutes and it was still not ready. In total, our 10:15 order wasnt ready until 10:50 which is beyond acceptable. To make things worse we got home and they were prepared incorrectly. Sadly, we will likely not be visiting this location again due to the poor service.
I normally like Sunflour, but this past order really turned me off. #1 left out dessert. #2 BLT was old: extremely soggy tomato, old bacon. I had to spit it out and couldnt finish it because the old soggy tomato had soaked into the rest of the sandwich. The BLTs are usually excellent, but this has turned my stomach. surely the person that created it knew they were using a soggy old tomato. Update 2 mins later: Coffee DEFINITELY old too. Cant drink it
I’m a doordasher, so I’m talking to my fellow dashers. If you ever come to this restaurant just know you will be treated rudely. This is my second time coming to this restaurant and have been disappointed and disrespected. When things go wrong on DoorDash end the employees just expect for you to know everything and not ask questions. She literally told me she called and canceled, I don’t have nothing to give you and throw her hands up. I will never take another delivery from this location. The tone and attitude was not calls for. If you knew the customer couldn’t get in contact with DoorDash. The restaurant it self should have contacted DoorDash to keep down the confusion and disrespect.
The food is great but the service is just terrible and it takes forever. I had written this place off for this reason for the last 6 months. I gave it one last shot today. Took me 20 minutes to get an iced tea that takes 5 minutes to steep. When I went in for the second time to see what was going on I was told they were out of ice so they were trying to cool it down in the freezer. bizarre.
Coffee drinks are hit or miss. Sandwich’s and pastries are generally good (that is if they don’t forget to give it to you) but the slow service just isn’t worth going there anymore. They were slow before the worker shortage so that’s not the problem. 40 mins for a pickup order is ridiculous.
The panini sandwiches were amazing! We had avocado melt, but without avocado, we substituted tuna. We are definitely looking forward to trying the pastries next time! The staff, especially the manager, was professional and very attentive to our needs, even at the end of their busy day.We appreciate you!
This is a review based on several visits. I have had the cupcakes in the past and they were very good but the CINNAMON ROLL is the best I’ve ever had. They usually sell out early so I would suggest going prior to 2pm to get one. I go just for the roll. If they are out of them, I leave. I gave 4 stars because the service here can be hit or miss. The staff for the most part is nice but I have gotten my cinnamon roll heated and they seem to have issues with something so simple. One time they burned it a little and it was the last one. The young lady didn’t say anything when she served it to me and when I mentioned it she said “Oh yeah, I saw that. They left it in the oven too long.” She said she would replace it with something else if it was inedible however I guess it was the end of her shift because she left before I had a chance to talk to her again. Most recently, it wasn’t warm enough but I didn’t want to risk getting another burnt one so I just ate it anyway. More ttention to detail would garner a 5 star from me.
I gave it 2 chances but I’ll never go back. The staff is cold and unwelcoming. No one smiles. Both times, it took forever for someone to take my order. Each time, I was on the verge of walking out. I get the impression the staff does not like working there. The breakfast sandwiches are over priced for what they are. Sliced over toasted bread. No seasoning on the eggs which aren’t even fresh cracked. Tastes like McDonald’s folded egg. I needed ketchup, hot sauce, AND bbq sauce to eat it. I’m from NYC where a baconeggandcheese (yes, one word) is considered to be the breakfast of champions. I could never stop here before going to the office!
My favorite coffee shop and bakery! I love the coffee and the hot chocolate was amazing! Ive been here twice and I definitely will make this a regular place! My love for Sunflowers doesnt help either.
Very nice staff and also fresh pastries.
1st. time in bakery, and not as impressed as I thought I would be. Small selection of goodies.
Great food and baked goods.Unfriendly attitude from behind the counter. Please, thank you, and you’re welcome go along way in a service industry position.Especially since masks hide facial expressions.
The food is good but like other reviews have mentioned, it takes forever to get your order whether you order in the store or ahead online for pick-up.
Yesterday was the first time my husband and I went to this bakery. I purchased the Carrot Oat Muffin, I loved it. My husband purchased 2 Croissants, and 2 round crunchy rolls to take home. He definitely liked the Croissants and rolls and would definitely buy they again.
Nice menu. A little pricey but all is fresh and good! Had some bakery items (several over a few days) and all were great. My date had the tuna sandwich and I had the grilled cheese with tomato. It was all very good. We will be back.
I’ve eaten here for years and it’s always good. I love the avocado melt (avocado, spinach, pesto, tomato, and goat cheese) and the banana chocolate chip muffin is perfect! Their bread is also really good; I love the sourdough. They carry coffee from Pure Intentions, a Charlotte based roaster, and sell bags of it for you to make at home! They also have cake jars that you can ship to friends and family across the US.
Honestly, get anything from here. You will not be disappointed. I love to come for breakfast, to grab a loaf of homemade rosemary sourdough sliced bread, & any treat. Today, I got the sweet potato meringue. Heaven.
Y’all....the pastries at Sunflour Baking Company are amazing!!! My favorite is the cinnamon role. They are huge and the frosting is delicious!!!Update: I have removed a star because there are never any pastries ready at 7am when they open, despite customers already lining up at the door. I so often leave empty handed or with a day old stale pastry from the back because they arent prepared at opening.
Great service. Excellent pastries and croissants. Best in all of Charlotte.
Would not recommend this bakery. Food is served cold, staff is unfriendly and you definitely do not get what you are paying for.
Love this place. Always great customer service. Besides their amazing treats in the displays I have ordered a few vegan cakes and they were soooooo delicious! Consistently perfect every time. Thank you for making my families birthdays extra special!
Great cinnamon rolls and cheddar biscuits!
Most importantly, I received excellent service. Ordered a blueberry filled croissant, FANTASTIC! Over several visits, the quality of their baked goods has been consistent and of high standard. Simply put, great baked items and great service. They also have a good variety of teas and coffee.
Great place to grab a cappuccino and a Croissant. Service was fast and professional. Give it a try.
Their breakfast sandwiches are always so good. Love their coffee as well.
Had a 1:1 business meeting here. My first visit and I loved it. The croissant was AMAZING. The sandwich as a whole could have been improved upon with more bacon and a little more cheese but I ate the whole thing anyway. The coffee is the kind that I seem to have a strange response to (gives me major brain fog) but it did have a good taste so if you dont have that problem, go for it. My friend bought me a snickerdoodle cookie which I ate later and it was delicious. I tend to prefer softer cookies but Id definitely eat one again! Their scones looked amazing and I saw several people get them while I was there so that might be what I get next time. For a meeting place it was great and the wifi was spot on.
I don’t normally leave reviews. But I had to. This is my first time ordering from Sunflour- I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato cheddar and provolone. And added avocado and egg. The egg is microwaved egg - which for a company, microwaving eggs is the Dunkin’ Donuts way of serving quick and disgusting breakfast. There was no tomato in my sandwich and the cheddar cheese was barely melted. I rated a 2 because minus the eggs - which I had to remove and paid an extra $1 for- the sandwich still tasted ok. Just not up to par with what I expected and definitely not worth the price I paid.
Great 👍 Food & Service Highly Recommended
I have been to this location several times and the food and service has always been great. But our visit on 8/22/20 at around 12:30 pm the woman who was presumably the manager on duty was extremely rude. I waited over 30 minutes for an iced mocha, people who had come in after me were getting their food before I even got my drink. My sister got her drink within 2 minutes of ordering but mine never came. When I attempted to explain this to her several times (at least 3) she kept cutting me off and asking me if I had gotten my “latte” which I had never ordered. But instead of waiting 5 second for me to finish my sentence she was brash, and cut me off several times like I didn’t know what I was talking about. She also treated several other customers this way. Everyone else there was very kind and the girl working the drink station apologized profusely even though it wasn’t her fault. But the managers attitude was very off putting and not representative of what I have come to know sunflour bakery to be. If I was rating just off her attitude it would be one star. I only added an additional one due to the kindness of the other staff members.
Sunflour in Elizabeth is such a kind and inviting environment, and they have great treats too! The staff are always friendly, and I once witnessed them give a meal to a man in need, while treating him with such kindness and dignity. Shout out also to the new guy with glasses, such great attention to detail! The cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants are the best I have ever had!ALSO, great gluten free vegan options!
I like coming for the pastries but they are very disorganized and are never open at time. When you say you open at 7:00, I should be able to walk in at 7:00. Not seeing you guys get yourselves together with the doors locked. Very disrespectful of customers time
I puchased 2 chocolate/chocolate cookies. To my surprise, there is salt on top of one cookie. Im not an extra salt eater. Very disappointed.
The vanilla cheesecake was yummy! 😃
Ive been to sunflour twice this year and both experiences were mehRecently I visited the cotswold location and ordered a tea & panini. Someone came out to the patio with my tea and told me shed be right back with my panini. I told her thank you. 90 minutes elapsed before she brought me my sandwich. An hour and a half. Im not usually one to complain about service but that feels like a bit much?? They were super empty at the time so I dont know how to explain it. I know I could have gotten up and said something, but she had just verbally acknowledged my sandwich, so I knew she knew about it. By the time I was like should I get up? should I say something? so much time had already passed and I was just so uncomfortable.I visited the 7th street location this past weekend and ordered a tuna sandwich, which was fine. My girlfriend ordered a gruyere grilled cheese which seemed like a decent panini but I definitely wouldnt describe it as a grilled cheese. It had bacon and apples and greens on it. I think they should list these ingredients on the menu. its what she ordered but it wasnt what she thought she ordered.I bought a sleeve of english muffins and didnt notice until after I bought them that they had been baked a week ago and expired in 2 days. I dont think baked goods this old should be sold at full price. They taste alright but for some reason when I toast them they get SUPER greasy. Like were talking pizza levels of grease. I have never eaten an English muffin this greasy, and I never expected an English muffin to even be greasy in the first place
Of course the bread the best think you could get from here! Everything taste fresh and light!
Great spot for a quick bakery bite and Pure intentions coffee!
The breads for the breakfast sandwiches are amazing! The rest of the sandwich is okay but the bread elevates it to another level.
The food here is great, a nice selection of paninis, baked goods and desserts, priced fairly! coffee is great, $1.75 for a small drip and its very smooth and the beans are roasted just right.interior is always clean and service is great.
ONCE U GO HERE..YOU WILL ALWAYS COME BACK!! FRIENDLY GREAT SERVICE!! MY CHILDREN ARE HOOKED!! BEST BAKERY!!
Cute place. Not very friendly but efficient. Good cookies. Very clean.
Look, the food is good. But I had a pre-arranged pickup time and still had to wait 40 minutes. Very, very dissatisfied.
This was a nice little find while we were looking for somewhere to get breakfast. Nice breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Theyre put together fresh so allow yourself a little time.
This was my first time ordering a breakfast sandwich here and I ordered it for pickup. The egg was fake egg in a square on barely toasted, non buttered bread. Had the topping listed on it, cheese, cold tomato, cold spinach, and provolone. For the price, I will not be ordering a breakfast sandwich from there again. The order online and pick up process needs to be improved, I waited in line with no direction or update from who was working. Myself and others were very confused what we were supposed to be doing if we ordered online. I saw my food sitting on the back counter and had to get someone’s attention and let them know I was there to pick up an online order.
THIS PLACE HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. It’s so bad it’s comedic. They never get the order right. They’re incredibly slow. And rude. GoSome place else.
A great bakery and coffee place that seems to be on the hip side. This is a cozy place where you can get some studying or computer work done as well. The staff here is great also. I will say that the parking situation in this area could improve. Maybe they could build and underground parking area or something....
Very nice and comfy place for coffee and bakery.I ordered few sandwiches and apple turnover.OMG!! Tasty!!!
Food was great! but, the Danish was thrown upside down in the bag. all filling was in the bottom of the bag. Muffins just thrown in upside down as well. Should have done better.
I want to love this place. So many options and the pastries are delicious. I always end up waiting forever for my latte, and usually somehow it gets messed up. Wrong milk, flavor, size. Its always something with the coffee or food. Pastries are great and some amazing vegan options. I have ordered a cake through them once, and it was perfect.
Good pastry Good cappuccino Friendly staff.
Tasty breakfast sandwiches.
I have taste tested about 7 different cupcake bakers around this city in the last week looking for the right cupcake. Sunflour Baking is my new favorite. I usually try a red velvet and a vanilla type cupcake to test. They were fantastic with the texture, moisture and flavor of both the icing and the cake. Great baking!
The treats and food was outstanding. The customer service was good. It was an engaging experience. The cashier made eye contact and smiled,it was a vast improvement over the last three visit.
So this is a mixed review because weve had great visits and not so great visits. I love their cinnamon rolls but warmed up; however, 50% of the time that seems to be a tough order to fill. However simple it may seem but weve had other items not properly made. A simple cup of regular black coffee took over 5 minutes to get to me. For some reason the simple is the most complicated. We love the atmosphere and the food is good but the attention to detail when I order seems to be forgotten half the time.
Baked goods and sandwiches here are top notch 👌. Egg Avocado Cheese, chocolate chip banana muffins!
Phenomenal place to eat breakfast! I had an egg, bacon, and cheddar sandwich on an English muffin and loved it!
The food was unique and very tasty. I tried the avocado Panini, with goat cheese and roasted tomatoes.
Always delicious. Upscale bakery, gluten free and vegan options. Never disappointed.
Inefficient counter because you order and pay at register. If you order over phone and don’t pay, fully expect to have to wait in line 15-20mins to just get to counter. Unless you pay over phone you wait in same line. Disappointed as food And pastries are generally good.
Cute little place. Desserts were great. Bread was tasty. Everything is from scratch so they say and its believable as far as I can tell. Staff was super friendly and helpful with any questions. The peach blossom tea was very good and its loose leaf. The only thing that didnt make it 5 stars was a small menu. No complaints elsewhere.
BEST gluten-free muffins ever! My mom is a life-long baker who unfortunately has to now eat gluten-free. She has tried baking muffins but nothing compares to Sunflour’s! I LOVE the cheddar biscuits, vegan banana chocolate chip muffins and chocolate chip scones. Mom is getting a gluten-free cake this week for her birthday: there are so many choices it will be difficult to decide! Our only complaint: items are so popular (esp the GF items), they are frequently sold-out.
Absolutely the best!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed my Spicy Hummus Veggie Grilled Panini. I also had the Zucchini brownie...the frosting was amazing. My family ordered the Cheddar biscuit and a Croissant with bacon egg and cheese, blueberry muffin and Cinnamon roll....ALL delicious and wonderfully made!!! This will definitely be a must stop anytime we are in the Charlotte area. Thank you to the Sunflour baking staff for a job well done.
Amazing baked goods, tremendous cheddar biscuits. Cant wait to go back and try some lunch sandwiches. Cinnamon rolls are huge, croissants as well. Something for everyone!
This place was so-so. The coffee was cold and it was the last cup they were making so they didnt replace it, however they did offer us free pastries after the fact to compensate, which was nice of them.
Highly recommend any of the breakfast sandwiches on the cheddar biscuit. The giant iced cinnamon rolls are phenomenal (perfect gooey center) and pair nicely with a dirty mocha! We will be back.
Their muffins are great and bettter when heated. I had one with choc chips that melted in my mouth. Sandwich was good too. I like decaffeinated coffee and they were low when I got there, so while they made me a fresh pot I looked at the Wonderful art on the rail on the wall. The artist are good, management varies the type monthly and the prices are reasonable. BTW the coffee was very good too. Food, drink and art.
We love this place!!We are only going to be in Charlotte for a week, but weve already gone here twice and plan to stop in again before heading out. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious, and theyll serve them all day - which we love since were still on West Coast time. The service is always friendly and quick. Thanks for being so great!! Finding good coffee and breakfast can be one of the harder parts of traveling, so we were glad to find you on our first try!!
Waited 25 minutes after placing an order for a sandwich only to realize that they never put in the order. but not only was i waiting, there were at least 5 other people waiting whos food had not even been started on. i walked around the side to see the cook on his phone
Omg so freaking good! Had an egg and cheese on a cheddar biscuit the size of my head! It was so crispy on the outside and perfect. Cant wait to try everything on the menu :p
Their croissant is out of this world!
This is just around the corner from my house, and its quickly become one of my favorite spots to either meet a friend or read a book on my own. I love the breakfast sandwich on a croissant so much that its difficult for me to try anything else. They have a whole case of baked goods, though I rarely indulge. Everything in that case looks delectable! Im going tomorrow for breakfast!
Got 3 desserts and a coffee and the girl at the cash register was very sweet. Thanks for being nice. Clean rr and dining area. Will revist.
Best croissants in the United States. Some foodie magazine needs to catch wind of this superbly unassuming bakery.
Great coffee and pastries! Breakfast sandwiches are awesome and the poptart is phenomenal! So good worth the wait!
I love everything about Sunflour. They have coffee in an ice cream cone, because why not? And their pastries are delicious. I love their croissants - so flakey - and they brew pure intentions coffee so of course its good. They also have a loyalty program where you give your phone number and rack up points that lead to free cups of coffee and such.
Everything at this Bakery is truly delicious! They offer a wide variety of pastries such as croissants, eclairs, muffins, pies, and they even have cupcakes. They also offer breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches and soups, and coffee bar drinks. While every food item I have had here has been spectacular, the black coffee is the only thing I can approve of from the coffee bar. The lattes do not have enough flavor. There are much better places to go if you are looking for a latte. They have bar stools facing the window so you can look outside, and café tables throughout the interior. They also have an outdoor seating area, but it is very tiny, consisting of only three or four tables with two seats each. This establishment is friendly to those who would like to come and work on their laptops. Parking is difficult because there are multiple stores sharing a small parking lot. Many of the spaces are a tight fit if you have a mid to large-size car. Even with all of those factors in consideration, this is by far my favorite Bakery in Charlotte. Amelies is absolutely overrated. If you like Amelies, come here and try what pastries are supposed to taste like.
Love their cheddar biscuits with avocado. Cozy seating environment with relaxing music.
