The last few times we have went in here the experience was less than desirable. This place is usually a family favorite. Once in the last few weeks we were seated and sat in our booth for 20 min before we had a server finally come to our table. When she did end up coming around she acted as if she was too busy to be bothered, she took our order, gave us our order when it was done and gave us our bill with the food, then we never seen her again during our meal. She never checked to see if the food was prepared correctly or if we needed refills. Then today we were seated in the section of the same waitress and had the same experience with her. I understand youre busy, but you should at least check on your table once after you drop off the food. We are easy going people and it takes a lot for us to feel as if we had a bad dining experience, but our last two trips to Big Boy were not something that make us want to continue to come back.

The service was fantastic, the waitress wasnt falsely bubbly but instead was refreshingly real and attentive. I ordered the BBQ burger and while it was cooked perfectly it had a depressingly small amount of actual bbq sauce. It was only really the middle bite that tasted anything let me BBQ. I added ketchup so it wasnt too dry to really enjoy. Its truly only the service that earned the fourth star on this meal.

Dont expect the same menu you used to know and love at Big Boy. Its been incredibly downsized and several of the old favorites seem to have disappeared, like the veal parmesan.

I got my usual slim Jim love them they are awesome but I swear theyve gotten smaller I tried the strawberry pie it was just whole strawberry thrown in a pie crust with whipped cream on top not very impressed with that and my waitress only come to us twice wants to take her order then to drop off our bill until I made her get us pie so service was pretty poor and they werent busy. Dont be afraid to demand good service either you deserve that and great food wherever you go.

Had some great spaghetti with heavy meat sauce coleslaw and garlic bread. My cup was never dry and neither was the food. Natalie was an awesome server.

The food was real good. Enjoyed every bite.The service left alot to be desired.The waitress came to take my order then she delivered my food with the bill and did not come back. Older girl with a light unusual voice.She was so busy talking to regulars and waitstaff that I just got ignored.Would have been nice to have my drink refilled when it was empty.I left her a good tip.......stupid me.

Waited to be seated while staff pretended not to see us until we finally left and when I called to talk to a manager I was told “ We weren’t sitting people because we are short staffed and busy”! Would have been nice to have known that instead of trying to patiently wait as we understand the staff shortage everyone is experiencing. Poor customer service. By the way a manager was also one who did not acknowledge us.

IN LOVE with there strawberry waffles! Every time I go here I get breakfast. It’s so good! I miss the buffet tho :(

I feel like other than breakfast food, the quality has gone way down. I ordered a salad and the lettuce was warm from the plate, dressing oily and no flavor, nuts old. Last time I got chicken parm. Sauce is like Gordon food service blah and all was cold. We go only for breakfast now and the fudge brownie sundae. I do like that they support local artists in the garden room though too.

I havent eaten at a Big Boy in year! The food was delicious good just like I remember.

Ive alway loved this place... since I was a kid. I moved to Tennessee many years ago and all we had there was Shoneys. I much prefer Big Boy. I live in Mt Pleasant and was bummed to find out ours will not be opening back up. Will have to make the trip to Midland, as I will definitely, and always, enjoy eating here.

Good place to get food very friendly staff clean restaurant

Food was great. Just had an odd smell when we walked in. Wasnt food either. Still would go back. We really like Big Boys food.

I think most of the big boys that are left are really going down hill. The banana shake was really good. The onion rings were not the greatest. I had a frontier burger that was kinda small and not very good.

I have been to several restaurants in the last 2 years and my over well eggs and my bacon were the best I have had in many many years. Kudos to the chef. You can certainly fry eggs and bacon. Thank you so much. Also waitresses were very friendly and even offered to help my husband help me up from the booth. (Bad knee and awaiting knee replacement surgery)

Can’t believe you would ask a navy vet and his service dog to leave your restaurant. A vet with ptsd who did 7 tours of duty protecting our freedoms. Lots of places to eat and yours won’t be on my list.

Pleasant atmosphere with good service.

Clean restaurant. Friendly staff. We ordered the special mushroom burger with fries. Yum. With a drink it was about $15. They also have a great variety of pies.

Its a little weird always being the youngest people there. The food is okay, but if you want to hang out with senior citizens then this is really the place for you.

Im not from Midland but every time I visit I come to Big Boy. Their coffee is the best! Service is timely and everyone is so kind. Their waffle with strawberries and whip cream is to die for! Love the diner feel too!

First, and foremost, this is Big Boy, not a 5-star restaurant. Current state mandate is that they operate at only 25% capacity. I am not sure how they are managing to keep the lights on...The store was clean, as was the restroom.The food was.... well Okay. It arrived quickly after we ordered, and what we ordered.

Failed to fill order correctly. Also didnt ask about drink ice but delivered iced drinks. We ordered no ice.

Dont go here unless you like being harassed before walking away from your table about wearing a mask! Really I m at the point where this chain is not worth even going to. Ordered a pancake dish that required blueberries and there were none. Instead of consulting with me on my order, it was served without and then I was asked if it was ok and offered mandarin oranges. Ummmmmm NO. Tired chain that needs to GOOB. Spending my hard earned money elsewhere from now on.Sorry but your reply will not make me come back here!

We have eaten at a couple of restaurants since restaurants have opened in the Midland area. Big Boy has definitely the safest procedures! Hats off to their staff. Paper menus, call from the parking lot to be sure that there is appropriate seating, mask required until food served. Thanks so much for a great, safe dinner. ❤️🎉

Great lunch with my mom

My spouse took me to dinner on Wednesday night, I suggested Big Boy. They have the best broccoli soup!! I ordered the Fiesta Salad, however I didnt care for the dressing. My husband order the Buffalo grilled chicken sandwich with fries and a cup of soup. We both had coffee. Our dinners took about 35 minutes to come out. The waitress apologized for the delay. We were then informed that she was going on break and so &so would be watching if we needed anything. That waitress smiled when she came by our table to check on us and came back with the coffee to refill our cups. Unfortunately, when our waitress came back from break she Never came back to our table. We finally got tired of waiting and just went up to the register and explained we were ready to leave but we didnt have our bill yet. Food was ok. The fries were hot.

Above and beyond expectations!I had a bad experience last time I was in and unfortunately a gift certificate was not able to be used due to unforseen circumstances. I spoke with the Assistant Manager about the past experience and she made sure to go well above and beyond customer care. The original intent was to use the gift certificate and never come here again. The exceptional customer service provided has reignited a flame of trust in Big Boy.Thank you to the Assistant Manager and the amazing crew for the best experience I have ever had in ANY restaurant, EVER!

This is where I like to go to get a coffee and a slim Jim sandwich or a hot fudge sundae (or some other comfort food). I know the sandwich is always going to be about the same and the coffee will be good. The waiter/waitress will almost always be friendly (as she was this time). Some people eat here frequently, so it tends to be a friendly place where people are apt to chat across the aisle to other diners.

Safe place to go. Tables are distanced and staff wear masks properly. Staff is very friendly and food is very good.

Erica, our waitress, made it a very pleasant lunch with friends that were not able to get together since March. Very patient, took us awhile to quit gabbing and order, food was great, service fantabulous. It was a good place to get reunited.

Sadly, I wish this visit was better. New to Midland. First visit to Big Boy. They seated me. Forgot me. Finally brought drinks. Food was medium slow. Check was slow. Had to drop check off at counter because server forgot me, again. Seemed status quo for the place. Ive seen monkeys hump doorknobs with more efficiency. Maybe post Covid-19, things will improve.

My husband and I come to Big Boy just about every week. We enjoy eating at the buffet on the weekends. Our last visit was early this morning. Seemed pretty busy. I just wanna give a good work for Erica. She is always an amazing waitress even when things seem to get stressful. She always has a big smile on her face ready to take our order and get us whatever we need to make our visit smooth. ERICA is an amazing waitress. Keep up the good work. This is what i strive for when i come to a restaurant.

The worst food and management I have ever experienced... My bill was 40.00 dollars and 8 cents... I could not eat because the fish and chips that I ordered was so gross and it had hard like white plastic pieces in it my wife got the meatloaf and it was hard and cold my daughter got the bblt and bread was burnt and Bacon was very crubley and cold.. it pretty bad if my daughter wont eat it she eats everything...I will Never Ever go back to Midland Big Boy.... Big time rip offf...was supposed to get this and we apouluty did not..pic below

Good food, great service!

The breakfast was good. Received no refill on my coffee. The little booth was not comfortable. All I could feel was the guy behind me pushing himself into my back on and off the entire time. The only benefit? Its 5 minutes from home for me. But, I do not come here often... UPDATE: I was sent a voucher for $20 that I never used. Ive been back 3 times sense this initial review and have enjoyed a great breakfast with terrific service sense! Big Boy you have redeemed yourself! Thanks for your service and commitment to excellence in all you do!

We visit big boy ever year on my daughters birthday with her grandparents. There food is delicious, fast to order, accurate, and quick to my table. We love this tradition and the place we chose to have the tradition.

Food is always great, service is topnotch thanks to Serina (sp?) But, I think it is time for a building remodel!

Went there after church waited an hour for our food only for our waitress to come and tell us she lost our order ticket waited another 20 minutes while they made about six more meals before ours then you would think they would take half off our bill or nope nothing,,,wont go back

Nothing fancy. They make their soups in house. They usually have a variety of them at dinner. Salad bar has some fruit as well as the usual toppings. I go for the soup and salad bar.

They are the best. Mom and Dads second home and you can tell. The staff is so friendly. They treat mom and dad like family.

The wait-staff its always friendly and prompt. The food is always of great quality and we never have to wait very long. Generally a place for older people to go to eat, but its nice if you just want a quiet breakfast or lunch.

Food was honestly pretty bland I ordered a salad and the croutons were already soggy before I put the dressing on, and the dressing was such a small portion it barely covered 1/4 of my salad and the lettuce just tasted dirty. Then I also ordered chicken tenders the actual chicken was good and had flavor. The fries though literally were so bland and soggy. The coleslaw was ok, but it was really onioney. The hot fudge icecream cake was really good as well.

The quality of the food has declined sharply over the last few years and is no longer competitive with other similarly priced restaurants. While this is a common theme across the entire restaurant industry, the problem here is compounded here by inattentive staff(stale biscuits, undercooked meat, and refilling a glass of soda with water, etc.).I grew up eating here but unfortunately, I have to recommend that you steer clear and seek out better options in this price bracket.

Worst food and service we have ever had. Couldnt eat my food, under cooked, waitress would not come back. Waited 48 minutes for our food, brought the wrong food. Brought it to the person checking us out and they would not rectify the situation. We will not be back.

It just didnt make any sense to me that they made me wear a mask walking around the restaurant, but not anywhere else. The logic of this just didnt make any sense to me. Because new studies show that the coronavirus does not stick as long as we once thought to flat surfaces as we once thought, and The Mask doesnt really prevent anyting because the mic problem of the virus is smaller than the mass we can get or make oh, and how am I supposed to eat and drink with a mask on my face... As in other restaurants in the Midland area who do not require their patrons to walk through there a restaurant with a mask and no cases have been known to show up. Being a taxi driver and still have no symptoms and have tested negative I dont see the sense in it. It became an issue oh, and made me feel uncomfortable first thing as I walked in the door.
