This bookstore felt like home. I saw myself represented in books that someone thought important enough to stock on a shelf and guide me to when asked. Can we have more spaces like this? Can we all agree to spend our money here if we need books on queer family dynamics or Appalachian folklore? π
Very fine assortment of books. Staff were so helpful as I wanted to select an interesting and appropriate novel for my teenage niece now nephew as he journeys through transition.
Great store! Extensive queer literature selection, conveniently located right next to Agnes Scott College. If they do not have it in store, they will order it for you. Currently operating via contactless pickup β they place your order on the porch in a paper bag labeled with your name and you come and pick it up.
Great shop for Agnes garb and books. Always nice and knowledgeable and willing to help!
Such a fun and friendly environment! I cant wait to go back!!
One of the souths best bookstores, now affiliated with Agnes Scott College, which renovated one of its most beautiful homes for Charis. Extremely helpful staff, great depth in feminist and gender-relayed books, with a spacious back porch for reading and sipping coffee. Will special order any book. Stop by and see if you agree!
Lovely bookstore! I was disappointed with Ron Douglas cookbooks. Total waste of money and without photos!
My all-time favorite bookstore. Excellent selection, and if they dont have it, theyll order it. The events are top-notch, and so is everyone who works there.
A cozy bookstore with a diverse selection
I love the no-contact pickup, but I hope everyone is vaccinated soon so I can browse and pet the bookstore dog.
I did not visit the business π
Awesome book store
Always my favorite store ever!
Whether youre looking for a gift or something to educate yourself or just a good book for comfort, I hiiiiighly suggest this spot! Stop buying from Amazon. Support local, independent bookstores!
Such a homey little bookstore. The selection is fantastic and every single time I walk in, theres always something new that catches my eye. The bike rack outside is a welcome addition, seeing as this *is* Decatur and all. I adore this spot, and hope to encourage others to drop in!
I picked up a book from their porch pickup yesterday, and the experience on the day of was smooth, but it did take 6 days for my order to be ready for pickup after placing it. I ordered local (and spent $10 more on one book) because I thought I could get it same or next day rather than waiting 2 days for Amazon, but that was a mistake.
Love this indie bookstore!!
Book stores are special places, yall. I dont know about yall, but its a quick way to lose hours. Charis is not the exception. The new location is amazing and proves that the wonderment of the vibe is found in the people, staff, and treasures. I love it.
One of my favorite places in the whole of Atlanta! Im not local, but I love to visit whenever Im near. They have an excellent selection of books and book-related paraphernalia, friendly staff, and just a really great atmosphere. They are also great if you ship things! Very timely. A++ would visit your local feminist bookstore again
What a well kept hidden jewel. So sad theyre moving from Little Five Points. Tremendous selection of all genres of books. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great place.
Its always a good time at Charis. They have so many books on so many topics, they host awesome events, and they are always helpful!
Have been shopping with Charis for years! They have books for many hard to find topics (I mean I found a book about an autistic girl for a young niece with autism and loads of culturally appropriate books with diverse characters!) The staff is nothing short of amazing! The new location is great and they finally have decent parking!!! Go for LGBTQ, feminist, etc. books, magazines, stickers. The list goes on and on. Hell, they even have a corner for personal care items!
Im a voracious reader, and Charis carries a great selection, including some hard to find elsewhere. I love their selection of childrens books. So inclusive and diverse. I havent been there in a bit since I pile on the books when I am there, so its time to hit their stacks up again.
Lovely bookstore in an age where bookstores are obsolete. I went for a discussion, and enjoyed my visit. I felt good purchasing a few books in support of them.
I love the large selection of African American children books. I was looking for a 4 year old girl and I had more than enough to select from. Parking is available but only 3 slots. Im always happy when I stop in.
This is my go to for books for gifts, and also books for me. Completely amazing selection of kid books as well. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they have lots of great events. Go visit before the move to Decatur!
Best independent book store in the south. Amazing childrenβs section. Staff is amazing. Have fun and enjoy!
Donβt see book store like these anymore. Old, quaint with a pretty diverse selection.
It is in a new location. Next to Anges Scott College. Love this store! Must go see new location and great books for all
Incredible selection! Unique titles! Great kids section! Seriously something for everyone.
Great cozy neighborhood bookstore where you can find all sorts of interesting reads, eccentric accessories, and meet with your favorite authors. They have autographed copies of books youll want to have on your shelf. Great spot!
One of my favorite places in Atlanta. Welcoming atmosphere, wide variety of books, and cool local items for sale too. They generously open their doors for local events and are a much needed community gathering spot.
A local bookstore I am happy to support. They have a great selection and great events!
This place is a gem - the last of its kind in a world where locally owned bookstores are quickly shutting down. The books are diverse, and you will find local authors, novels, kids books, and everything in between. This is the place to go if you want to find underrepresented populations in literature. I even found a bilingual English/Chinese kids book! If you are looking for something specific and Charis doesnβt have it, they will get it for you. Also keep an eye on their events which happen frequently! Shop local, yβall!
Pleasant old houses books on race, gender, fiction and theory for adults and children. Events on such issues held there also.
Just go. Its a historic, feminist bookstore. What more do you need to love it?! They also have a surprisingly nice kids section. Soon, theyre leaving Little Five Points and heading to Decatur, so get in that little creaky, old house and make a memory while you still can! Also, expect to pay full price for the books. This aint a Kindle. They have lights to pay for. Its worth it though. Sometimes you just need to be in a bookstore.
Nice, quaint bookstore with a pretty diverse selection; nice, friendly staff, reasonable prices....
Its one of the treasures of the south. I have been shopping their for decades and have never failed to find something wonderful! You can order online too and its fast! Love you guys!
This is such a unique and fun book store experience. Love the inclusivity.
My favorite book store. I come here every time I come to Atlanta. Love love love.. great atmosphere & positive vibes throughout.
I love this store! I always find something interesting to checkout and their events are always great!
This place always has a cool selection of feminist and LGBTQA literature. They also host some really awesome events, and the staff is fantastic if you need a suggestion or help. Also home to one of Atlantas tiny doors.
My first visit to their new location right by Agnes Scott. Beautiful store with tons of interesting books, cards and gifts and helpful staff.
Great independent bookstore. Attentive staff. Nice selection.
Mostly good over the years but not much anymore. Feels old, dusty and cultish. Still, its the oldest womens bookstore in the region. Better for them to relocate near Agnes Scott. Maybe they can come out of that echo chamber.
I always find a new treasure when I visit this book store. Highly recommend!
The most cozy bookstore I have ever been in. I attended a book signing.
I like the quaint neighborhood atmosphere. They have a variety of off the beaten path books. Charming.
Charis is a truly wonderful bookstore - thoughtfully curated and smart, helpful employees make this my favorite place to shop for books in Decatur.
I love this store! they buy and sell used books, the selection is great and they emphasize their queer author and book sections. hate that theyre moving soon but it wont stop me from frequenting.
A great feminist bookstore! Will have to remember theyre moving to Decatur next time I visit the ATL.
Very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. I love their dog Jasmine!
These folks are doing intersectional, ethical capitalism, correctly. So Proud to have gotten to help warm their new location!
Great books featuring stories about well-rounded characters from every possible identity and background. They also offer great community events.
This is one of the only and best feminist stores in Atlanta. Not just being a historic store, they work hard to have a lasting impact in the community.
Amazing staff. Wonderful and unique establishment. Book selection is incredible.
So much more than a bookstore! This is a center of a vibrant community. Please support Charis Books and More!!
Great place to get connected to your community! Very welcoming and always willing to help you find the right book.
One of the most important book stores in this country! Impeccably stocked by super smart book lovers. I return every time I visit Atlanta!
I love this place. They have a lot of good books, especially childrens books. If youre looking for intersectional texts, no other brick-and-mortar can do better. Good sci-fi. Can order anything they dont have.
Awesome selection! Great vibes
Great hidden gem in atlanta. Caters to feminism and LGBT groups. You feel empowered just by walkin in. Very friendly staff. Lots of discount items.
1 of the most greatest selections of books I have ever seen, I was searching for the 1901 limbers book and they had it, I was looking for years.
Great new location, including a friendly kids corner. Very progressive, of course.
I first visited this bookstore in 1997 when I moved to Atlanta. I still love it.
Such an amazing store and I love the politics of their store. Staff is very friendly and passionate
Such a delightful selection of media, Im so excited that theyre moving closer to agnes scott

This may be my favorite bookstore ever. I always find some lovely gem of a book that fits perfectly in my collection or expands my mind or challenges me.
Great store with progressive books and story time for kids.
Amazing bookstore
Very welcoming inclusive place with tons of book options, especially related to marginalized identities. A great collection of childrens books with characters of color.
