What a amazing bike shop. Harley and Sam sold me the best bike ever. I just got back from a bike tour in peru and I worked that bike hard and it took every bit of it. Great service, great people, amazing mechanics. I even took my bike up to tressle bike park 3 days after I bought my bike, and got a little too excited and crashed and worked the back wheel. Harley immediately got me in the next day and had my bike fixed with a smile. Thanks for everything Harley and Sam. See you guys soon. Way to go running a 10* bike shop.
The folks at Base Camp Cyclery do it right. Ive always wanted to have a local bike shop where I could talk bikes, get repairs, and shop with an honest team - this is the one. The team at Base Camp is knowledgeable about bikes, repairs, racing, and the community they serve. I bought my first carbon bike from these guys and never felt pressured; instead, I got a great bike with awesome service. I have recommended this place countless times to friends and co-workers, and now Im recommending it here! You wont be disappointed.
Base Camp is my favorite bike shop in Denver. They’re incredibly helpful with small and large asks, somehow magically seem to have inventory which in 2021 is not trivial, and carry my favorite brands. While I’m an experienced cyclist I notice how shops treat people who don’t know a ton about bikes and at Base Camp they treat everyone like they’re valued customers. Really appreciate them.
What a wonderful service Forrest provides! He arrived at my home on time, was very friendly and professional, and gave my mountain bike a thorough tune up. In less than an hour he had taken every moving part off my bike cleaned, inspected, lubed and replaced. He test rode my bike out front checking out all of his work. My bicycle rides like a dream now. Every gear clicks right into place. The convenience of this mobile service is unbelievable. And the price was totally reasonable.I am so glad I found Base Camp Cycle!
These guys are really great. Ive had two frustrating problems with my gravel bikes that I couldnt figure out on my own. In both instances they figured it out and got it fixed very quickly which blew my mind given how backed up everyone has been with repairs. Couldnt be happier. Also worth noting that the environment is super friendly. Nice having a local brewery next door as well while waiting for the work to get done. lol
Small, local, super experienced mtb shop with amazing staff and service. Absolutely top tier. Harley evaluated my situation and referred me to Moe upstairs, who somehow can take all the time he needs with customers in what is obviously a very busy place. I felt really lucky to get a great solution during this time of short inventory, when even large shops are getting no deliveries. Base Camp is a treasure.
I chose Base Camp based on the great reviews listed here. Unfortunately, I had a different experience. I called and reserved a bike for my three year old. Hes been crushing his strider so I wanted to upgrade him to a pedal bike. The shop built the wrong model and didnt have the one I had reserved available which was a bummer after making the hour long drive from Boulder. The bigger bummer was coming home empty handed to an excited little kid. Hayden promised to fix the situation the next day - even offering to drive the bike up on his way to Hall ranch. That was last week and there hasnt been any follow-up. All business makes mistakes - its how they address them that really makes the difference. If you value your time then I would avoid gambling it on Base Camps say-do gap.
Base Camp is the best place to buy a bike. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks Base Camp!
So its not often one gives a review after years of frequenting an establishment but I suppose Im that guy. Base Camp Cyclery is a lot like the 80s TV show Cheers. Just swap the booze for bikes and there you go. Everyone knows your name when you walk through the door, and they are always there to help fix a problem with a bike quickly or help to find the lates riding gizmo or gadget I just have to have. I have purchase several bikes with Base Camp over the years and they seems to alway put me into the new bike that exceeds my expectations. I cant recommend Base Camp enough.Benjamin Ellefson
Got a flat tire while riding on the Platte River trail on my ebike. I wish I called here first. After another shop down the street with terrible customer service and communications skills left me in a bind these guys saved definitely save the day. I was able to stop in, have them fix the flat with no problems and got a new hat too. The guys were really friendly, knowledgeable and professional. ( even when faced with a know it all yet know nothing snarky woman who walked in and aggresivly, rudely and repetitively questioned the guys about parts they had already stated they didnt carry. Before she insulted their knowledge and left.) Ill be back here for sure to get all my bikes worked on and have already recommend it to a few friends. Amazing, thanks again!
My husband and I for years were wanting to get bicycles, so when it came time to make the purchase we looked around town to see what was available. Base Camp Cyclery was in our neighborhood so we went to check them out. The staff was great! Everyone was kind, laid-back, and answered any questions that we had. They were knowledgeable and honest about their inventory and made the decision to purchase from them so easy. They helped us pick out any needed accessories that we would need and made the buying experience really great. We absolutely LOVE our bikes and are so grateful for Base Camp Cyclery and their staff. We will be sending all friends and family their way! They have customers for life with us and we will not trust our bikes with anyone else.
Pretentiousness. You own a bike shop… You don’t need to be rude to women who ask novice questions.
I was given an estimate of 4 weeks to install a bottom bracket and a quote of $20 each for $12 parts. The mechanic didn’t really seem to know what he was doing, so be careful and make sure everything is worked on properly.
Great shop for both adult and kids mountain bikes. Super friendly and helpful staff that is very knowledgeable. I have purchased a bike through this shop and the experience was top notch. My only problem is I can never visit without buying something, they seem to have a need item every time I walk in the door. Check this place out if you can.
Not very friendly staff. You guys could spend more than 10 seconds with a customer telling them something like youre too busy to service them. Ill take my business elsewhere next time. Its a shame I really like your store.
Awesome local shop! Service department is great, good selection of bikes.
This shop is great and is very accommodating, especially during busy times and backlog. They came up big for me when I had an issue with a particular MFG (sorted it out so all parties were happy). Calm, cool, collected and fair is how I would describe this shop. I would send any of my friends their way.
I am new to mt. biking and have been demoing bikes for the last two years. Over that time, I have visited 15-20 shops in Colorado and have been wowed by service just a few times. Harley (owner) and Crew where one of the few shops that did not make me feel like an a**hole for not knowing much about bikes. From my first phone call, to walking my new bike out of his shop, Harley exceeded expectations with his service, knowledge, and patience. He spent a ton of time with me over several visits, answering all my questions, going over the bike front-to-back and top-to-bottom, reviewing service intervals, and explaining some basic bike maintenance. I felt at home the entire time, never rushed, and never like I was a burden to the shop. If you are looking for a new bike or gear, do yourself a favor and check out this shop. THANKS FELLAS I LOVE MY NEW WHIP!!!-Tobey
Despite selling high end mountain bikes the crew at Base Camp are super down to earth and easy to work with. Service prices are super reasonable and will work with you for a custom bike order from Yeti, Ibis, and other top brands. Highly recommend if you are in the market for a high end full suspension mountain bike.
I went into the bike shop a few weeks ago looking for a bike light. The staff was not wearing masks. The person working was not in the mood to work, and was behind the counter after I asked him a question about the bike lights., i/e he didnt really want to get up to show me and help me. This was the third bike shop I went to, hoping they were open/available to help me and I really wanted to buy something. The staff made me feel like I didnt want to buy anything so I left.
Excellent quality work, super friendly staff, and the turn-around time is crazy good.
Great local bike shop! Their service has always been great since they opened, from new breaks, adjustments, ect. They were somehow able to get my wifes dream bike in stock when every other place I looked was backordered. They held onto it for me, and even helped out with setting the bike up and playing along in surprising her with it. Great guys and great shop!
I just needed a couple quick service items done on my bike (shifting adjust, top bleed on brakes, and install new grips), and they got it done right away for a great price! However, I did have to ask the mechanic to test ride my bike before giving it back to me. Maybe he was just in a rush which was understandable given their work load, but a quick check is always necessary in my opinion. I ended up not liking the grips I picked out (totally my bad), and they were understanding and cut me a deal on another pair. Good customer and bike service! They also have hand sanitizer if you ask for it, everyone was wearing masks, and they only allow 2 customers at a time aka they actually care about the health and safety of employees and customers.
I love this shop. Being a new bike owner, I definitely have a lot to learn regarding how to keep my bike in good condition. I have gone to a lot of bike shops and Base Camp has ALWAYS been the most knowledgable, friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Not only do they help keep my bike in good condition, they educate me along the way. I enjoy going into the shop and I trust these guys 100% and am excited to have found my local bike shop. Would highly recommend! Thanks guys!
I had never been to Base Camp before, but I was having trouble finding a shop that could fix my front brake within a reasonable timeline (COVID-19 has swamped bike shops). They got me in and fixed the brake sooner than projected. I really appreciate that they went out of their way to help me. I’ll definitely go back.
I Highly recommend Base Camp Cyclery! Great staff, very knowledgeable mechanics and super fast response to emails! I would definitely do business with this shop again!Thank you so much Base Camp Cyclery!I love my new bike!!Maria
Cant say enough good things about Base Camp Cyclery! After I broke a carbon piece on my Orbea, they worked hard to track down the piece from Spain, despite the fact that I bought my bike elsewhere. Ill definitely be back!
Cant thank Harley and Co enough. Been a customer of STF for 5 years and Im stoked to see the boys start their own place. Took me all of 3 days to find a bike, demo it and then buy it. Its nice to see the LBS alive an well in Denver. No trendy street wear, wal-mart style lines, just good honest bike shop service. Couldnt be happier to own a bike from Base Camp! Until next time guys!!! Thank you!! see you in the fall.
Brought my road bike in for what I thought was a difficult job, and the Basecamp team took care of it with no issue. Owner and employees were fantastic to work with. Really cool shop with a great location. After moving from Boulder I was looking for a local bike shop in Denver and I am happy to say I think Ive found it.
Everything a rider could want in a local bike shop. Whether youre a casual rider or a professional, the team at base camp will take the time to get to know you, the bikes you ride, and your personal goals and style. Then they offer services, solutions, and gear to help you meet your goals in the saddle. Phenomenal shop.
This the best bike shop in the City. Harley is amazing; knowledgeable, honest incredibly fair. Have used them twice. As a result, I will ONLY come here to buy bicycles and have my bicycles serviced.
Ive been to a lot of bike shops in my day, and Base Camp is among one of the greats. They sell bikes and bike accessories that you would want to see in a local shop (rather than just on an online retailer), at competitive prices, in a really cool environment. Most importantly is how approachable the staff is there. A lot of bike shops can get snobby, or dont provide the best service, and for Base Camp, that is not at all the case. They have taken incredible care of my bike and have shown patience answering every single question and concern I had during my buying process. After buying my bike, anytime I had a concern, they have been reachable, informative and extremely helpful. I will continue to drive out of my way to support Base Camp, and suggest that anyone looking for a mountain bike, service, accessories etc. to look no further. Harley, Collin, Moe and Eric are all super cool and will take great care of you.
Harley McLellan and company are rock stars! I had an issue with my wifes bike on Saturday night. On Sunday, the power was out due to a storm. Despite this, Harley and Co opened the shop and fixed her bike in the dark. Awesome team, best around never stop!
Great bike shop! Really glad the bike shop closer to me was closed as I found this gem and will bring my bike, and refer people, here in the future.
Knowledgeable and friendly. They give me a list of what it needs and if it’s an immediate needed fix or something that’s nice to have. Have you ever had the experience where you pick your bike up from the shop only to find they didn’t really fix it? I’ve never experienced that here. They fix it the 1st time. So awesome.
Great place! I went in to buy a tool to adjust my cycling shoes (though I would have no idea how to actually do it) but they adjusted them for free instead. Ill be coming back next time I need something for the bike. Thanks!
Love this place. Super helpful and solid selection of bikes and accessories. We also did a spring tune-up here and they were fast and reasonable.I also appreciate that they are a local business and passionate guys running the place.
Such a great bike shop! The folks that work there are really kind and they have a great selection.
This is a fantastic shop through and through. They are professional, honest, and incredibly helpful. They work really hard to help you find the right bike for your riding style and dont rest until youre happy. Their mechanics are top notch and very trustworthy. Im thrilled with the service they have provided and will absolutely remain a loyal customer. I highly recommend giving them a shot.
Staff met me with an easy no pressure sales experience that led me to believe I was one with the biking community! They even allowed me to demo a bike for a day ride with a staff member to allow a beginner rider to learn to how to ride and select a bike that match my needs and level. Incredible section of bikes and accessories that I felt were relevant to what I needed. Got some cool branded clothes too!!!
Rude, lame staff. They told us no one had 26 tires anywhere but Velosoul and Mojo Wheels both had them. Also, Mojo Wheels told us if they didnt have what we needed theyd be happy to order it. They understand what good customer service is.
Base Camp is one of the best places to buy a bike, more importantly to receive objective information about bikes, where to ride and how to maintain your investment. The crew and shop are super cool. Definitely a boutique place to shop, but they appeal to all types of riders. Two thumbs up from me.
No other place in Denver to go. A recommendation from a friend sent me to Base Camp this year and I have nothing but great things to say. I travel to Colorado several times a year and either rent or take my ride. In both situations Base Camp has taken amazing care of me. Sent me to some of the best trails in the area, hooked me up with an amazing rental and set my personal bike up when shipped to the shop. Couldn’t be happier with this shop. It’s my new home away from home when I’m in town. Look no further, Base Camp is the spot. Professional service, excellent product selection and great advise for whatever ride you’re looking for. Even purchased a new Santa Cruz from these guys. Wish this was my hometown shop.
Bought my new Ripmo here. Harley and Colin were fantastic and very helpful along the entire process. Great selection of bikes to demo and try out before pulling the trigger. Definitely would recommend!
Wow, super cool, friendly and knowledgeable. Great LBS. Colin was great!
Ive been here on 3 separate occasions during business hours and each time theyve had a sign on the door saying theyre out to lunch.Great for business, for Campus Cycles down the street.
Harley and the folks here are great. Since they opened, they’ve been our neighbor bike shop, always welcoming and knowledgeable. We’ve since purchased two bikes here, and we have been very happy with the bikes themselves. We’ve also had those bikes (and some of our other bikes) serviced here and these guys do great work.
I purchased an Ibis from these guys this year (2018) and they were great to work with. Harley, Mo, and Sara all were super helpful to get the right fit figured out for me and get everything dialed in just right. I would highly recommend that you check this place out.
These dudes are really cool, very nice, so helpful...
Found this gem last week while shopping for a bike and helmet for myself and 4 year old daughter. My daughter was able to try out multiple bikes to figure out what she liked, and find a purple helmet - score! I’m still figuring out which mountain bike I want, but it will definitely be from here. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we will make this our shop for tuning our bikes moving forward. Bonus points for being next to a brewery and across from an ice cream shop!
Stopped in after getting a flat, not only did they help me out with a tube they let me use there shop to change it my self. Great shop awesome customer service even for something as small as a tube replacement. Top notch
Ive had THE BEST experience EVER at Base Camp Cyclery. When my frame cracked on my mountain bike I unexpectedly found myself in the market for a new ride. The money and decisions were stressing me out and Harley and team made sure to consult me on my options, get me on multiple bikes to test ride and find the perfect bike for my riding style and terrain. They were patient, didnt pressure me and I walked away with a sweet ride. For all the women riders out there who experience feeling like an idiot walking into a bike shop, rest assured this will NOT be the case here. Thanks Harley, Mo and Team! You guys are awesome!
Highly recommend Base Camp Cyclery. Some of the best bikes in town. The staff here is top-notch—experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly. Always feel welcome in here. Ask for Sam D—that dude will hook you up!
Super rad local shop filled with old bike nerds. I may be biased though.
Recently demoed a bike here. Worked directly with Sarah and had the best experience one could have at a bike shop. In fact the whole staff was helpful and fun to talk with. I will DEFINITELY buy my next bike from Base Camp Cyclery!
Just bought a bike here and really enjoyed my experience! Great new addition to the neighborhood. Tons of knowledge and very patient with me as I was deciding. I highly recommend this new shop!
Great place to buy bikes and cycling gear. I went in with a quick question about a part and they were incredibly friendly, helpful, and thorough. I’ll definitely be back for my next gear purchase.
Best shop in Denver I think. Service, sales and bike knowledge is all top notch. They even have educational classes. It’s like the “Cheers” of bike shops!
Sam, Harley and the Basecamp crew are great! Sweet location, good selection, fun bikes and great people. If you are needing a bike, some gear or service - I would strongly recommend that you check them out.
Fantastic bike shop. They listen to what you’re looking for, don’t try to oversell you and I think they have the best mechanics in the whole city.
Superb service! Highly recommended!
These guys are great. I rented two mountain bikes for my son and me for the weekend. The guys hooked me up with a brand spankin new IBIS Ripley and my son had a sweet Orbea Occam. They were super chill and made the rental experience awesome. I highly recommend this neighborhood bike shop. Ill be back again next time I am in Denver.
Harley and his team were absolutely amazing. Harley let me know about a great opportunity to trade my bike in and got a great value for my stump jumper, through a program called TradeUp. Very knowledgeable and honest guy, very very happy with my new Bronson C R. Would highly recommend Base Camp to anyone in the area looking for a great bike selection and an even better staff! Stop in there as soon as you can and dont forget to grab a beer next door after at Platt Park Brewery.
So great to have the guys from Singletrack Factory back in the neighborhood. Base Camp offers a really nice space to check bikes and gear. I always got great bike service for the few times my ride needed work so I definitely trust their mechanic.Bonus that its next door to a brewery and Park Burger.
Great local bike shop. Best demo program in Denver. Easiest staff to work with of any shop around. The owner and staff are all passionate about bikes and riding in Colorado - all trails, all disciplines and all bikes. Harley, Colin, Sam, et al - theyre a group of very knowledgeable riders who encourage and support every aspect of the sport. Theyre cyclists first and bike staff/sales people second.Making a purchase of a new bike is nearly as expensive a proposition as buying a car. Base Camps demo program is $100 for 24 hours. You can take a bike on a Friday afternoon, get in an evening ride, then go for a long adventure on Saturday morning, and then get the bike back by Saturday afternoon. Also, where other bike shops will only apply a couple of demos to the bike you buy, Base Camp will apply up to five demos to your purchase price. Given that they carry Ibis, Yeti, Santa Cruz, and Orbea you really need to ride all of those bikes before you commit to owning one.I spent an entire summer riding different bikes from different shops all over Denver. I bought my bike from Base Camp because of the great combination of demo, support and interest that the crew had in ensuring that I got the bike that was right for me - my riding style and my budget.Really happy with my ride. The post-purchase support has been great. Added some new handlebars a couple months after purchase and the shop staff threw in a quick tune-up.
An excellent shop full of genuine folks! I like the fact that theres no pressure, honest opinions and a knowledgeable staff. Stop in here and support your local bike shop!
Base Camp Cycerly is the only place to consider when your buying a new Mt. Bike in Denver. Their staff in the sales dept. As well as their mechanics are truly the most knowledgeable people to buy from or have work done in the metro area. Go now and see for yourself!!!
Incredible shop and experience! I have had the opportunity to ride and purchase great bikes from local and regional shops. These guys have all the right brands that are players in the market - Yeti, Santa Cruz, Orbea, etc. The main differentiator here was they did not push - I had an idea of what I wanted, and these guys effectively introduced additional ideas, then helped guide me to the right one. I cannot recommend them enough!
Excellent shop, friendly people, and highest quality service around. The bring a great atmosphere to the area. Also a big fan of their selection of apparel, especially T-shirts.
I needed help with my bike but they weren’t open when Google Maps said they would be. I stopped by at 6pm on a Thursday in early Feb. There are 3 failed delivery tickets on their door. They need to post on Facebook & google maps that they changed their hours either permanently or temporarily...I’ll be back so I can give them a true and probably better rating.
Whether you are a hard core cyclist looking for your next Yeti or Cruz or just an average rider (me) looking for honest, no pressure advice, this IS your store to go to!! Base Camp Cyclery is new but the bike experts inside are not. They come from all backgrounds and have decades of combined years of experience. They will put you on the right bike for your needs and their service department is the best in the business to keep your ride running smooth.
Super nice folksBaser camp Staff are really welcoming and knowledgable! Colin, Harley, Mo and Sarah rock! My fav bike shop in Denver!
Great service and super friendly staff! This will definitely be my bike shop from now on.
They sold me a 1.5 tube instead of 2.3 for my dj and it popped in less than a week.
Can’t lose with this shop. Great selection of new bikes, accessories, and parts. The manager Harley provides the best service with the best value in town, without the eliteist attitude you might find at some other shops. Only suggesting addition shop service that you need, not upselling to make a buck. Will not be disappointed or experience a buyers remorse with this shop.
Made it easy to buy bikes for the kids. They had one of every size to make sure the fit was right. Then once you have nailed the size, you can go pick the price point you are looking for. Ordered in the color my boy preferred too.
Very nice store aesthetically. They have a good selection of high end MTBs. They also sell some cool shirts too.
I buy and ride high-end bikes, and I live a one minute walk from this Base Camp Cycles, so I wish I could recommend this neighborhood bike shop, especially since so many people buy bikes now via the internet, but it’s not clear owner Harley McLellan is well-suited for the retail world dealing with people. We all have good days and bad days, but I sense this place will develop an unfortunate reputation rather quickly. My discussion with Harley made me feel so completely unwelcome that I had literally no choice but to leave. I was stunned. I calmly left for Campus Cycles, just 200 yards away which was like the Twilight Zone with welcoming, accepting professionals. I don’t know why I tried departing from Campus Cycles in the first place.
Absolutely wonderful place to go for bicycle sales/service. The staff is incredibly attentive and knowledgeable!
Harley, Colin, & Sarah have each been great to work with. I was down to either an Orbea Rallon or this Ibis Ripmo and couldnt be happier with my decision or the overall experience. Today was my inaugural bike day and already looking forward to my next.
What a great locally-owned shop! Helpful and knowledgeable staff, great location, and the service staff are the friendliest in town.
Great shop with an awesome staff! Very detail oriented with service and repairs.
Sweet shop and the staff is super helpful! Go check it out!
Best mechanics in town, best product line. Awesome bike shop
Owner Sam is dope! Awesome bikes and staff!
Always good service
Friendsly, Super knowledgeable and Helpful.
