So, I don’t normally like to post reviews of any kind. However when I went shopping at 6 a.m. on a Sunday morning there was not one single employee that had a smile on their face or said hello. I understand that 6 am is early and they’re not required to do any form greeting to the customers, but this made me feel odd doing my grocery shopping this morning. I have shopped here many times before with many people saying hello or give a quick smile.(maybe that has always been later in the day) A bunch of unfriendly faces that early, doesn’t make a great start to the day, but I will not dwell on this. Anyways I hope everyone has a good day and just remember, a little smile goes a long way.

Self checkout was only option and it had an unusual automated conveyor belt that was not helpful.I scanned an item twice in error, had to wait for mgr.Manager was very helpful scanning & hand bagging an open bag of Brussels sproutsBrussel sprouts was labeled with a price that did not clarify PER POUND.

This branch of Hy-Vee is such a comfortable place to shop. Spacious, not always crowded, free parking spaces, and, I am sure, one will find everything you will need when it comes to groceries, kitchen ware, fruits and veggies, bathroom and all domestic needs. Located just by the airport of Des Moines... Enjoy after shopping at other spots just by also... Beautiful

We bought NY steaks on Saturday afternoon and by the time we cooked them on Monday night, they smelled like they were turning rotten after cooking them. It was only two days. This would have been a 3 star review except they did not return our call about this problem.

Pretty nice store, employees are pleasant and helpful, some items on the shelves are scarce and there is a need for a lot of facing throughout the store.

I can always get in and out pretty quickly whether I use self checkout or a cashier. The store is always clean and everyone is very helpful.

Does anyone really like the grocery store? There was nothing wrong with my trip to the store, the service was great, the selection was to be expected.... I just do not love the grocery store.

The Pharmacy Staff really helped us out today. We were about to fly out of town after driving about 2 hrs to DM. We had forgotten the needles to an insulin pen. I had stopped at 2 other places to buy 1 but they would only sell me 500. Only needed one for his lunch dose, HY-Vee not only had some extra they didn’t even charge me. It was such a relief to give him his meds, it just made me realize because of this kindness we will only be using them in our home town moving forward. Thank you Pharmacy Associates!! Good Job!

This is one of the best grocery store chains in the country. If you live in the Midwest then you already know that and probably go there, if you live elsewhere you have to try this place. Their meat department is fabulous. Employee owned and it shows.

Sometimes has what I need. Needs to work on its professionalism. Everytime I shop here, I run into problems with prices or people. Dont shop at night, the frontman has a get out attitude right at 11:30pm, though the doors list the store as open until midnight.

A good store that I will continue to visit for alcohol, can redemption, and grocery shopping.

Little more pricey than the walmart, but if you search for specials you wind up about the same. Looks like they are moving stuff around, like remodeling, so exciting to see what it will be. Nice clean store, cashier was nice.

The nice Hispanic lady working in the floral area on Saturday June 26 10:30am gave me the best cumstomer service I could ask for. She was very helpful and super friendly it made my day!!!

Roaches in the bottle room, been there forever. They dont seem to care about cleanliness. Rotting fruit, you need to open your packages before you leave, mold everywhere in the fruit. Rotting pumpkins outside calling them special but theyre blue and rotting. Employees will look at you when you ask for help and just walk away. Employees dont know where anything is and are extremely unhelpful. And often things are often expired by MONTHS. Food poisoning hazard 24/7 it seems

As always, Hy-Vee is hard to beat. Massive selection in almost every dept. Clean and organized store. And now with some self-checkout lanes. The only negative would be the absence of a smile in every isle. Need friendlier employees with stellar customer service abilities.

Make sure to check expiration dates before you buy things here. I have, on multiple occasions now, bought something, only to get home and find out it’s expired. And I’m not talking like a few days or even a week expired, I’m talking like a month or more. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like a grocery store should probably be checking their shelves more often to ensure this doesn’t happen.

Biggest Hyvee on the southside. Sometimes it’s harder to find things than it should be, but overall it’s a nice store.

A little more expensive than the wallys, good quality tho, friendly staff and these guys actually have humans at some checkouts! Its good to not have to work everytime you go grocery shopping ☺

Hy-Vee has become my go to eatery. I travel a lot, and at Hy-Vee Market Grill I can get restaurant quality food at fast food prices. The dine in area is always clean and comfortable, and because its a grocery store there is enough parking for me to park with my work trailer attached

Wow, this has to be the most expensive store in the state of iowa ! 44.00$ for a 10 birthday cake! Really. And there proud of it. Shame on you taking advantage of people!

Just wanted to take advantage of some of the coupons although a couple of things they didnt even have in stock and werent able to get them

My family and I love hyvee Chinese and lived in urbandale up until this past weekend. We came to this hyvee to get our usual orange chicken and chicken fried rice. They started portioning out the orange chicken and it looked like it had been sitting there since lunch. This was at 6 pm. The vegetable noodles were half crusty and half not cooked and we werent even ordering them but that was clue enough for us to cancel our order and run away.

Nice store but getting so big its hard to find some things! Maybe better signage !

Staff didnt seem interested in doing any work. No one was at meat counter and they couldnt make up a #6 package NO ONE WAS THEIR

Plan on bagging your own groceries, and putting them in cart yourself,not enough help

I enjoy shopping here! The selection is fantastic, the prices are solid, groceries count towards fuel discounts and the staff are friendly.

Ordered balloons at 11:30 for 4 pm pick up. At a little after 4 I arrive and wait to be acknowledged then find that they didnt even get the 1 balloon bouquet ready. And really didnt appreciate the head lady thinking it was funny. Poor customer service and time management.

This Hy-Vee store is wonderful. Im so glad they have been doing the online shopping and pick up. They are really good about contacting if they need to substitute items, they want you to get your groceries and make sure your order is right! Never had a problem with them, staff is great as well.

I was on that side of town for a little bit of business to take care of and I decided to stop and pick up a couple things from the meat department. Where I ran into a very rude counter person and I do mean rude I asked him for a pound and a half of the fresh sausage she sent me somewhere else he did not want to wait on me I cant go back there

No hyvee in the area can nor will carry seeded fruit especially grapes. Forking lie to you about ordering them for you even tell you they got them in but then come to find out their distributer doesnt believe in selling hyvee any produce thats not had the reproductive system of produce destroyed before consumption.

Hy-Vee Market Grill is pretty expensive for what you get. $6 for a 16oz tap beer is pretty steep and $8 grill cheese sandwich is ridiculous.I normally like Hy-Vee, but next time i’ll just buy a 6 pack at the liquor store and make my own sandwich.

I always go to the Hyvee store on Fluer Avenue. They have everything I need usually. Very nice customer atmosphere.

If Hyvee is going the way with self checkouts then more self check lanes should be open near both entrances. I prefer the ones with the bag holders near by and NOT the conveyor belt with the ramp! Someone else commented earlier not much friendly greetings in the aisles anymore. Theyre too concerned about filling the online aisle orders with the large carts.

I use Aisles Online - they are constantly out of stock, many times over half my order cant be fulfilled. Also, the app asks which items you want substitutions for if theyre out of stock, but they completely ignore the choices I make when fulfilling the order. Why bother asking if youre not even looking at it??

Purchase a 29.99 ice cream cake and 50.00 in flowers, I was told it is too hard to have writing placed on the cake. Hmm just tell me you didn’t want to do it or call another employee back to the bakery who can.

Over priced. Bad customer service and spoiled produce. Went in to pick up groceries at 8 am on Monday, No ground beef or boneless skinless chicken breasts.

Very polite! Gas pump did not provide receipt... store had been closed 18 minutes and the clerk was kind enough to hand me a receipt. The receipt was required for work expense and I appreciated the extra effort.

Came here at 8:30pm looking to get food because we were staying at a nearby hotel with no vehicle because of an early flight. The two young men working were so nice and helpful. They looked like they were close to closing up for the night and they still were willing to make us food. I didn’t catch their name, but the food was great and hit the spot.

Love their fresh meats and fish, thats why we went their.

Prices are decent, shelves are always stocked and the employees are helpful.

Hyvee is a pretty good grocery store. I like that its a local company and, as far as I know, take decent care of their employees. They didnt have what I needed but the ppl I talked to were helpful when I asked and the store is clean abs well run.

Great friendly staff. Only thing id suggest would be to have large trays of pre-prepped meat & cheeses available for customers to grab n go for events! Only found one really small one so ended up having to grab stuff to make my own board.

They had so many food options here for me, vegan, and they even have a bank inside ! Great cashiers, very sweet. They also have a liquor store and huge pet aisle. Also great for school supplies. They also have clothes here! So cool. And yummy food here.

I went to the Caribou Coffee located inside Hy-Vee. It was great to get a cup of coffee and be able to drink it all while I was shopping. The HyVee downtown there is now a Starbucks!

On 5/26/2021 there were parking lanes blocked near the gas station. Which caused traffic to backup and requiring everyone who parked or drove down the lane to turn around and go down the wrong way.I am unsure the length of time it will be blocked, but I would assume a day or two.

For Sunday midday their shelves seemed pretty well stocked but what was confusing is their new self checkout area. There wasnt very clear direction that you can start scanning while the other person is bagging since theres two belts per line. It looked like they only had one person working so it took extra time to find them and ask which lines were available. some of the lines were solid green which I thought was okay to use but there were people using them still and others were flashing green or red which blurred whether or not they were in use or out of order. I still wish they had actual cashiers but it appears they have gone the way of Walmart with very few if any actual cashiers and customers do all the work. It is fast and efficient which is why I give them four stars but I still prefer the traditional way of checking out especially when Im not used to shopping at this particular Hy-Vee.

We really like shopping at Hy- Vee sure wish they had one down where we live in Texas. We have H. E. B. down there. If Hy Vee could be down there H. E. B. Would close up.

I couldnt find product, I asked a worker in a roll and told her I couldnt find it they told roll with other things and I went to it. She asked if I found my product.

Great place to shop. Over on MLK and 42nd are really places that are good to pick up a forgotten item.

Employees were helpfull while I was looking for items. It would help if you had a cart return close to the handicap areaor have an employee take groceries to the car for handicap.
