This restaurant is so amazing! The one woman that works in the restaurant still manages to make delicious food while doing legit everything else. The only thing I would love is for her to be open later!
This place has the best food. Be careful of the sauce. I asked for Double Sauce and my noodles were still extremely dry.Response: Thank you for your reply Bai Mai Thai. I was thinking that as well. I will order extra sauce on the side next time. I will definitely be back. I’m a loyal customer. Thank you and I’ve changed my review to 4 stars 😊
The staff is courteous and friendly. This was one of my favorite dine in spot before the pandemic. They are only doing carryout now due to restriction but the Service and food is still the same. Love this place.
I tried Bai Mai Thai one night when I didn’t want to cook and was really craving some Thai food. I was shocked at how good it was. I’ve ordered a few times since then and they have consistently met my high expectations! I’ve tried a few different things on the menu and they’ve all been fantastic. My personal favorite has been the curry pad Thai, medium or hot depending on my feeling of bravery. My partner loves it too and it has quickly become a go to when we don’t feel like cooking or have something to celebrate. We’ve had really great luck ordering delivery off of Google Maps as well. I can’t recommend it enough!
I eat this place multiple times per week. It is almost shocking how the order is always perfect. The food is amazing every single time. I really love this place and would definitely try it if you have never had it.
Delicious meals, good size portions, awesome customer service.
Didn’t taste any flavor it was just spicy. The chicken tasted old. I ended up making ramen noodles. Didn’t even finish the dish. The second picture below shows I purchased it from your store today. I ordered the #9 pad khiing dinner.
I love this place. The food is wonderful. If you currently go, they are short staffed as are many other places at the moment so please pack your patience. I want to applaud the lady that was there today. She was the only person there and she did her best taking orders, making the orders and getting them back out to the customers. This is definitely a place that I recommend to others.
Good service with a smile! And EXCELLENT food! You still cant eat inside and they dont have out door seating, but they never disappoint!
Low-key neighborhood gem. Thai standards at their best. Order pickup thru Toast or Google and give them an extra 10 minutes before you come by for your food; theyre a little shortstaffed right now and perfection takes time. Looking forward to being a long-time regular here! A+++
I think this is the best tasting thai food around here. Like someones grandma is responsible for the recipes. I recommend the Pad see ew***, Pad thai, chicken satay, and thai iced tea.
The lady who works there, is so endearing and nice. The food takes about 20 minutes or so. Completely worth it. Its so good and they aint joking about their spices, so if youre asking for medium spicy, trust me its going to be a lot hotter than that. And I mean that in a great way. Theyll warn you too.. Also, you get so much food for the price, its like having two full meals. I told my mom about this place last November, and for Christmas one of my gifts was a gift card there because she was so happy and surprised with the quality of the place.
Just an amazing Thai restaurant. Quality food and friendly service. The one thing that sets this restaurant apart.. I have traveled all over the US and Bai Mai Thai has a unique spin on Hot n Sour soup. It is in a word delicious. It is unlike any other about n Sour soup I have tried. Most of these soups are the same but the one here is truly unique. I live over an hour away and whenever I get the chance to get good home made Thai this is the place I go and brag about to my friends. A true hidden gem in Detroit!! An absolute must if you want real good Thai experience!!!
So.... this place is in a strip mall and maps doesnt take you to the restaurant. Its probably easier to put in the Dolla store here. The restaurant is closed for dine in. They use that for storage now and it looks cluttered. The line to order is long and wait time is 35+ minutes. Order online is easy. The food.... I ordered pad pek medium and my GAWD IT WAS HAWWTTTT. Ordered extra veggies and paid, but they werent on there. I eat Thai all the time. This is over spiced. The Tom Yum also too hot but it was good. The curry puffs were pretty good. The veggie roll was ok too.Overall, probably worth a try if youre in the area.
I was so excited when i saw they had a vegan menu!! I got the Massaman/Mat Sa Ma curry w fried tofu, it was amazing!! i will be coming back (: 4 stars bc the tofu tod was ok.. good w peanut sauce but no good alone
When you see a Thai restaurant in a strip mall, you do not think much of it. You expect standard fare. Bai Mai Thai is far from standard. Its the type of place that honestly could find itself comfortably nestled downtown. Its that good. The noodles are fantastic. The sauce is just enough, never excessive. The chicken satey was beautifully grilled. I always get nervous about peanut sauce because I have had experiences in other places where it was basically mushy peanut butter. The sauce here was so good I scooped whatever I did not use with a spoon and just ate it that way. I cannot wait for when Bai Mai Thai opens up its doors for full dining room service!
Just left about 20 minutes ago this is BEST Thai food!! Everything is fresh and hot ❤️ I got drunken noodles with shrimp as well as shrimp fried rice and spring rolls. Very generous with portions. Just sad I’m just finding this gem as long as it’s been there.
I placed an order online for two dinners. The wait time was 30 minutes but when i arrived i was told the food would be another ten minutes. I waited the ten minutes and when my food was done they informed me that they were out of potatoes for one of the dinners. I told them to make it without the potatoes and then was told that they actually didnt have any of the ingredients to make it. That would have been nice to know 40 minutes prior when i placed the order. Or even 10 minutes prior when i arrived to pick up my order! I was refunded and left without any food. A complete waste of my time.
Had a LOT of issues with delivery but that wasnt Bai Mais fault. Im mentioning that because when they noticed I had to order food TWICE from two different third party delivery apps they reached out to me to see what was going on and made sure I ended up getting my order. Aside from the A1 customer service, their food is delicious and even though my second driver decided to go somewhere with my food and park for 15 minutes before I got it, it was still hot because they package the food very well. Will 100% recommend them and will eat here again.
I use to love this place but now when I do take out, I get a f7 with chicken its more rice and not enough chicken smh the cook needs to do better
THE MOST AMAZING FOOD...never a disappointment..Ive eaten here for years and they have maintained quality food without fail..give it try I promise you will enjoy it
One of the best Thai joints in downtown Detroit. It’s located in a small plaza so parking won’t be an issue. It has some sort of vintage Thai decors. Pad Thai Curry is the die-for dish. The curry is real rich and flavorful. The portion for each entree is huge. The staff is extremely friendly. Overall just an enjoyable and cozy dining experience here. The restaurant decors may not be 5 stars, but the food definitely is. Give it a try if you’re in the area.
Great restaurant. Got my nails done next door and pick my food right on time
I’m not sure what was going on when I ordered from DoorDash I got the garlic rice with shrimp I believe I requested that my rice be cooked longer which was horrible I didn’t mean to do that, the rice was gooey and the shrimp was just ok this place used to be good awhile back idk if it’s from the pandemic but the quality of food has certainly went down from the last time I’ve been and they stopped selling the shrimp rolls I used to get too what a bummer I was disappointed in this food it made my stomach hurt terrible
So pretty in there my food was good and the staff catered to me I felt so special thank you
Absolutely love this place been going for 4 years straight now and its the only thai that gets it right. They never disappoint
Just ate here for first time. Will definitely go back. Thai Curry and Curry Rice Noodle dishes were great! Fresh tasting and very flavorful. Food was ready for pick up right on time. Very friendly staff, too! Also flexible with food allergies:)
Both the Kow Pad & Drunken Noodles were a perfect mild-plus as I asked. Furthermore, the prices are fair and the portions are EXCELLENT!!! Ordered the shrimp versions of both and the shrimp were in good size and quantity. Ive honestly sat and thought about why this restaurant didnt deserve a full five stars and came up with nothing. Its been a few years since Ive last visited and Ive been back twice in 3 days! Again, the prices are fair and the portions are good!! I recommend this place as you will NOT be disappointed. 🤟🤟😎
OMG just what I wanted. Havent been here since Covid and they did not disappoint. Food was amazing! Sorry no pictures, we smashed it.
Not worth the money!$! Big portions but mostly noodles/rice with hardly any veggies even with extra added at an additional price. I wont be back.
Great taste plenty of food. Really good an spicy.
Food was great and fresh. Tate great. Food was ready when I walked in when they said it would be. Great service
Best Thai food in detroit hands down
Placed on hold rudely just said hold and put phone on hold over 10 min hung up. They have no option to request extra sauce on pad thai on uber eats as i hate my noodles dry and go figure they were!!
Sometimes slow and dont have food on menu because it sells fast regularly good and fresh food worth the wait! Will return regularly have been for years!
I usually love this place . We would order for lunch. This time my pad thai was dry. Disappointed because I wait so long to finally get there..will try them again later down the line.
Food was excellent 👌🏿😋
Love there food! Always hot, fresh, & the staff is friendly. They remembered me too & I dont go often so thats a +!
The food was far too much $$$And I will remain faithful to Bangkok Cafe in Ferndale
Is what it is and it’s good as hell. The Pad See Ew sauce has something special about it
One of the best dining experience this time had in downtown Detroit. I waitress was very attentive. We ordered the sampler appetizer shrimp fried rice with mild Heat. All fresh ingredients. I ordered a coconut milk-based soup which was very earthy tasting and filling. I highly recommend this establishment. Full bar
Drunken noodles are great just Dont get that hot one
Love the spicy spring rolls and veggie tofu Pad Pak with chicken! Yummy 😋
Absolutely wonderful! The green curry was spicy, rich and full of the right flavors. The drunken noodles were perfectly cooked, full of veggies and delicious! Also, the staff is extremely kind and attentive. It was clear everyone there cares a lot about the quality of food and service.
One of the best kept secrets in the 139 sq miles that make Detroit. Moved out of the area and still drive down get my Thai
Bai Mai Thai was a refreshing experience given the plethora of Thai food we have in metro Detroit. There was so much detail in the decor I was super hopeful for the food and it did not disappoint. We got the vegetable puffs which were delicious and the crust flaky while the inside was a flavor dream. The Thai Fried Rice with tofu was equally good. Rice not over or under cooked and everything tasted fresh, not frozen. You know how rice tastes when its frozen. 10/10 will definitely be back here
Huge portions, one meal can easily feed two people. Medium spice is perfect and the spring rolls are some of the best around. My favorite quarantine takeout!
Hands-down best Thai food in Detroit!!
Ive been coming here with my vegan mom for almost 7 years there food is very delicious 🤤 I have no complaints if youre wondering if you should order from here you should (try the drunken noodles)
Best Thai food in the neighborhood. You can tell because the place is full of regulars on a daily basis. The staff is extremely friendly, fast, and attentive to guests. Amazingly the waitress will remember your order after only being there a few times. The hot and sour soup is great – so good that its reserved for dine in customers only.
The best Thai food in the metro Detroit area. I literally can’t eat from other Thai restaurants because the comparison game always starts. I’d rather always just eat from here and be satisfied!
Very good food and the people seem to wear masks and social distance!
The service was amazing! Kat was our server. She was attentive, energetic, efficient, courteous, and joyful. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had a large vegetarian soup with tofu in it. We also had vegetarian spring rolls. Along with a pot of green tea.Excellent meal!!Respectfully,Garie Thomas-Bass (Author of the book: A Season of Gratitude A Day at a Time ( AKA: A giraffe named Gratitude))
Ordered the coconut fried rice with shrimp for take out. Loved it, it was delicious. A little pricey, but you get a fairly big portion, so it evened out. It was convenient because I was in the area at the time, but probably wouldnt go out of my way to have it. Overall, not a bad place to grab some lunch or dinner.
Me and my husband are regulars. We come here often and love how consistent the food is. I make sure to check the hours they close and we drive far to come eat here. But TWO times in a row we come in a little over an hour before they close. (Today they close at 11 and we came at 9:45) they told us they couldnt seat us and we had to order take out). I wouldnt have a problem with his if they hadnt served us twice around this time before. They arent consistent and I am very disappointed that this happened again. I literally begged the manager to seat us this time because I didnt want to be turned away twice but she told me she couldnt help me. She knows how much we come and she even has our orders memorized but she couldnt do me that curtesy not even this one time. So I will no longer be returning. they should have it on their hours that they dont seat people after 9:30 when they close at 11. This will avoid long drives and disappointment. Love the food but Im no longer coming here...
Ive been ordering from this place for many years from my work. The food has always been great and the prices are reasonable. However this particular day the food was horrible... But the manager did replace my food when I brought him back my lunch after work So for that reason I will continue to go here! One bad experience that he corrected and took care of immediately will not stop me from eating their food!
Big place and okay ambience. Looks like they get a lot of office crowds. Did not like the food as I dont like it if there is smell of oil in the food. The consistency of vegetables and gravy was not right. My dish looked like soup and rice while my partners dish was full of vegetables and tofu but no curry in it. It felt like the dishes were prepared hastily.
Food is delicious service is good.
The decor isnt the nicest but the staff were very friendly. The food was top notch. The spring rolls were crispy, spicy and not greasy. Recommend!
Very flavorful food.Great variety on menu.Great wine and beer list. And many cocktails! 😉Warm wooden atmosphere with koi pond.Always clean tables and interior.Takeout has always been accurate.Friendly service.I have ordered from here a little less than once a week for around 3 years and this is a place I will always come back to even when I move.
Very flavorful, plenty of shrimp in my dish.
Food was great!! Great fast service!!
Gang Garee please. Rarely do you get to a place where you dont care to try anything more than what you feel is the best dish one can offer. This is it. While Id love to comment on the other dishes I see people eating all I can say is my Caucasian taste buds say this is the best Ive ever had. I dont care what city Im in, how good your local spot is. This does it right and Ive yet to be let down.
Great food, great price. Basil fried rice with shrimp!!! Mmmmm mmmmm good!
It was great 👍, like always
Best Thai in the City by far. Easy parking, just east of downtown, GREAT food, simple fast service.
Kinda addicted to their wide noodle Pad See-ew; its super comforting and a perfect ratio of sweet and savory. Every coconut curry dish has been super tasty too. The staff is kind and helpful. Parking is chill.
Good place! Hard to find good Thai in Detroit
Finding good Thai food in the city is hard, but I think this place comes pretty close to it. They certainly overcharge for some items (spring rolls) but the currys are always on point
I simply love bai mai thai.....food is excellent service also...
Food is really good, but they do not have a childrens menu. They should really add an option to the menu for parents who arent regular Thai food eaters to know which foods approximate more to foods American children eat. My husband and one at Thai all the time so its not a big deal for us to navigate it but it would be helpful for the future. Service can be a little slow here but theyre always kind and friendly.
No Lai. Bai Mai Thai is a classic. Located in a mid century marvel of a shopping center and with the restaurants interior decor it makes you feel like you are in a 50s Tiki bar. Food is very consistent and the service has always been quite good. I definitely need to come back just to sit at the very cool bar.
Best Thai in Detroit, hands down. From the shrimp blankets to the soup to the fried rice, all meals made fresh, with clean ingredients & created with love. My family has eaten here for years and have always enjoyed this place.
Beat Thai in the city. Take the extra time out of your day to skip past Sy Thai and eat here. I’m trying everything on the menu during this lockdown.
Bai Mai Thais food is fresh and delicious. I would suggest calling your order in if your going for lunch time. It can get very busy during lunch hours. Their lunch specials are anywhere from $7 to $12 or $13 dollars, of course, depending on what you get. It seems like they need help as well, Ive walked in and there has been no one at the counter and Ive waited more then a minute or two for someone to come to the register to take my order.
Good Food
Great Thai food! The food is made just the way you want from mild too spicy. Friendly wait staff and great prices.
This is the BEST Thai food Ive had in THREE states (Fl, [H]Tx, and Mi). The noodles were chewy and delicious; they didnt fall apart. The sauces were on point and everything I ordered was delicious.
Reliable Thai. My favorite dish is always done just right. Attentive service. A good value.
The best Thai food in Detroit! The service is excellent, the menu is exhaustive, the quantities are more than sumptuous and my favorite part is that theyre all customizable .The bar is a great to relax and they make a mean long Island ice tea. It hits you quick n hard. They have good Japanese and Chinese beer also!
Im afraid, my food smells spoiled. I ordered coconut fried rice with chicken with Hot spice. It looks good though. Why does it smell rotten?
I order from them frequently. They are really good. Most of their dishes are sweeter than other restaurant. My favorite dish is the garlic fried rice with chicken and shrimp! Make sure to get extra garlic butter!
Oh soooooo good, great atmosphere, customer service & the food is a genuine feast.
Its a great place and I love the food and the atmosphere
Besides having the best spring rolls in metro Detroit, the setting is comfortable, the service outstanding, the menu extensive, and the cuisine is simply extraordinary!
Good service
Friendly hostess service, great recommendations, delicious food, perfect Thai iced tea!Pad Thai curry and drunken noodles were yummy! Kept catching delectable whiffs of garlic from the table across the glass divider. Well be back!!!
The food is amazing. Like a ma and pa neighborhood restaurant slightly off the beaten track. Worth going to
Delicious food, friend staff and clean restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the service is fast
Good Food_ Nice place. Highly recommended!
It was greatFood and service. I had drunken noodles with chicken.
Ordered spicy noodles...got a bowl of cement...I had to add my 16 oz. glass of water to make it edible. They have no idea what Thai food should be like
