Would come back. Good time awaits you if you’ve never been. Great bar scene and live bands, plus all the Belgian delicious beer you could ever want! Yum!And wether you’re here for just the bar or you’re here for the feather bowling you will find delight in every corner. Feather bowling is highly recommended and is a unique experience that can only be found here. I was surprised at how competitive and easily we all picked it up and how much we all wanted to go back after playing our first round. Great vibes, great people.
A small indoor bar with a large outdoor patio and some type of feather bowling. The outdoor patio has a garage in the back used as a bar. We attended a concert in the patio and it was great. Best concert experience in decades. The place has a really nice vibe. Very casual. Be sure to order food early because the kitchen gets backed up. They have private parking but it does fill up early.
What a wonderful night at Cadieux Cafe! My children, husband and I were so happy to be together to celebrate my sons recent wedding. We were able to receive cousins from both sides of family, life long friends, neighbors and wonderful work associates, in your absolutely perfect venue! What Cadieux Cafe uniquely offered was a variety of party fun and comfort! Belgian beer and drinks from the original bar brought back great memories for we locals, The Garage Bar outdoors was not just a drink depot, but a place to sit on a bar stool and visit with a few friends. I loved the various vignettes I glimpsed though the night of folk who pulled up a stool to visit. I wish I had taken pictures.Feather Bowling was a huge hit for all ages and relations! The dance music - great fun. And I sure wish you guys could have heard all the complements on the food that I did.You and your staff were gracious and thorough. Our party was a hit and really, it was so great because it was at the Cadieux Cafe!Thank you for a most memorable night.Mary White
Great hidden bar in Detroit. Has amazing food and a very good selection of beers on tap, in a bottle/can, or mixed drinks. Let’s you experience ‘feather ball’ if you call ahead an make a reservation for it. Otherwise has a nice little beer garden out back to enjoy your day. If your looking for something interesting and chill this is a very fun place to choose.
A bit divey, a bit rustic. Fun is the name of the game here. Decent food, attentive staff. Karaoke & Feather Bowling is big here. Crowd varies...
Im 65 and have been enjoying this place since my early 20s. If you enjoy mussels, this is definitely the only place to go
We went for the Monday all-you-can-eat mussels extravaganza!!! It was spectacular. The mussels were delicious. Treat yourself to the Thai curry mussels, you will NOT be disappointed!Staff was friendly & attentive & wore their masks. The outdoor area & Bier garten was clean & well spaced for social distancing. As always servers suggestion on the vast Belgium beer menu was on point. Thanks for a great experience! We hope to see you soon.
This was always one of my favorite places to go. Sense under the new management, its seems like the service has gotten slow, and just not at the same high level as in past years. Would still recommend checking this place out, I just hope management makes some changes to their customer service.
Nice friendly cozy bar in the neighborhood with spectacular help ingrate ownership
What a fun place! Cadieux Cafe is such a great place to hang out and enjoy friends and family. The feather bowling courts are gorgeous and the outdoor patio is warm and inviting. The food was sooo good I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun day/night out with a group or close friends and family!
Much improved. Recommend visiting.
I loved this place. We went for an outdoor music event. It was very organized. Probably 200 people showed upService was excellent considering they were very short handed...only 2 wait people and 1 guy in the kitchen. Katherine did a stellar job taking care of us.Prices are reasonable and staff are super friendly. We all ordered mussels..which they are famous for. Portions were huge. A little lacking in flavor but I chalked that up to being bombarded in the kitchen. We will definitely be going back
Ive falling love this place. My first time here. Ive been waiting to come in here since, I went to high school. (The 80s) It was everything I had in mind. The steak bites dinner was cooked perfect. The staff was perfect. The live band was great also. Brenda took perfect care of me. I will be returning. Thanks Rob, for your great staff.
Top notch:- brew selection (mostly bottled and mostly Belgian, but a great selection of domestics too)- food (the onion soup is a crowd pleaser)- opportunity to shuck mussels (all you can eat on Mondays, though a regular order on any other day is still a lot)- ambiance and concert venue (with plenty of opportunities to catch a show regardless of the day)- bar (see: all of the above)
Enjoyed a great live funk band on the patio with a drink and a bite to eat. We had so much fun! Love the atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
This place is awesome! I would recommend the Muscles. My sons girlfriend ordered them and they were prepared in a fantastic buttery sauce. Delicious. I had the roast beef, my son the fish and chips. Honestly, everything was great....but the mussles stole the show....oh, 2 orders of pretzels please!!!
Generous portions! Despite a longer than usual wait for our food to come out, my fish and chips were phenomenal (despite not getting the advertised coleslaw with my meal). Absolutely love that they have Sprecher soda! Great outdoor patio.
Great local neighborhood pub with feather bowling lanes (rare!) and local live music.
Feather bowling is so fun. Great steamed mussels, lots of fun!
Mussel PO Boy was great. The band was amazing. I cant wait until Motor City Josh and the Big 3 play there again.
Love the live music. Atmosphere was pleasant. Bartenders are on point steve and the food was delicious. Will go back.
Well, its definitely lacking in ambience but the menu should satisfy almost anyone. Ok, its a bar but where else can one get mussels prepared in a variety of ways (big ones). Hubbie got Belgian rabbit and pronounced it great. For the less adventurous, there are sandwiches, salads, other meals, and tons of beers and even some wines. Our server was great. The one star ding was to let folks know that this is a bar but with high standards.
I really enjoyed myself .... The service was great .... The food was delicious .... And I really enjoyed the band .... Picture perfect night
Great place to see bands. The outside area is top notch. 🤘🤘
Great place. Worth the trip
We went to hear The Michigan Rattlers. They were excellent. If you are looking to eat, we were there 3 hours before our order was taken. Like everywhere not enough service workers. The staff that was there was hustling.
Good entertainment with the music good food and good prices I would go again
Best belgian food and feather ball around
I hate having to write this review.Everybodys been affected by COVID-19, but the Cadieux Cafe has been dinged especially hard. They admit as much by notices posted saying that a labor shortage has caused them problems.I was there Sunday night to see a favorite band in the outdoor Mussel Beach concert area. It took 30 minutes before a waitress came to our table and another hour before we got our food; we never got the drinks we asked for with that order. Perhaps this is because our waitress didnt write down our order. (I dont understand why this happens at so many restaurants; a pen and pad of paper should be mandatory for anybody waiting tables.) Additionally, the food quality seems to have slipped.Everybodys doing the best they can under these circumstances and Ill cut them some slack because of that. I still like the place, just as I have for the many years Ive been a customer. Ill continue to patronize Cadieux Cafe when they bring in bands I like. But I suggest that you bring plenty of patience and that you dial down your expectations when it comes to food, drink and service. I hope that things improve ... because improvement is really needed.
Stopped in on a recommendation from a co-worker while on a trip. Nice Belgian food with a nearly lost Belgian game. The food was delicious. I had the onion soup, the fries (traditional Belgian so you dip them in the special mayonnaise), and the rabbit. It was all impressive. The service was ok; I felt like I got the new girl.I got to learn about and watch a little bit of feather bowling. Its a long lost Belgian game that is like curling and bocce ball on a half-pipe. Basically, there is a feather at either end of the lane. You roll your wheels down the lane trying to be the closed one to the feather. You get a point for each wheel that is closer to the feather than all of your competitors. They were setting up speakers and mics as I was getting ready to leave, so there was going to be some sort of music (probably karaoke).
Private party/celebration of life. Perfect place for it!
A tradition for any local or visitor. Eclectic food and beer menus and music to meet everyones tastes. The outdoor area is convenient and spacious. The staff is AMAZING, woot woot to the bartenders!
Neat old style bar with good eat, fun game and occasional jams.
It was great seeing Todd the drummer! Havent seen him in person for over a year. The brand didnt announce their name, but they did Allman Brothers cover songs
Awesome what theyve done with COVID. A large outdoor area that should certainly be kept afterward. Adding a canvas roof would make this area viable maybe down to 50°F.
So cadieux cafe is probably the best Belgian style restaurant in Michigan realistically... I cant stop going and generally speaking theres something for everyone there and the entertainment is top notch and the history is amazing.
Love the atmosphere, food and great service
Great place, friendly and efficient staff. Good music and watch some feather bowling.
Lowest quality food I have had in Detroit. Fries were frozen years ago, fried in oil which was unchanged for weeks (turned bitter). Mussels juice was a smelly embarrassment. Spent $50 and walked away with nothing but a few crackers and a beer in my stomach. Good beers and decent service, hence 2 stars.
Place has always been great, outside music venue is nice, need some awnings or tents!
It’s pretty cool
Great bar, great fun, great place with a ton of history.
Great Belgian bar and restaurant with a fabulous outdoor stage! Someday I hope to try the feather bowling.
Great venue! Great music! Saw the tribute band Morning Glory there!
I’ve been to the Cadieux Cafe many times. It has been so nice to be able to listen to a variety of great live music (especially during 2020), and the food is really good as well. We had the mussels and fish, which were both excellent. A very fine assortment of Belgian beers as well. The service was very prompt and courteous. If you have a chance, try the feather bowling as well. I’d highly recommend this place for a fun night out!!
Nice people, friendly place
What a great place to watch Iive music. Be prepared to be patient due to limited staff (June 2021).
In side looks good but outside looks like it could use a paint job on bldg and outdoor tables by the band stand.
Open air dining and music. Nice
The service, and safety of all were impeccable. The band was amazing (T-Junction Blues Band) The outdoor stage with live music will be open until at least Nov. 1st. Plenty of seating and heaters. Please come out with a mask and support this local business!
Good time had by all. I want to go back!
Awesome food and great atmosphere. Had Thai and white wine mussels that were excellent.
This place is an historical gem, but in an unofficial way. You wont see an historical marker out front (although I suspect it is in some (cool) travel book about hidden gems). Reminds me of bars in the Upper Peninsula (Michigan...for the geographically challenged). Its got a lived-in feel, with ambience that is not trying to be trendy, or appeal to the high-maintence seen types. If this is not a place you know of, and you are a local (SE MI), this is a bucket-list place if you are looking for something not pretentious. This is a Belgium-people-founded place (from back in the day), with feather bowling (look it up), mussels, and Belgian beer. If youre not into any of that, there is a great juke box, great live music (at night), and plenty of good drafts and bottled beer.
Drink (gin & tonic) very watered down and poor quality gin, took 40 minutes after ordering (8pm) to get my sandwich $13.95 for a Turkey ruben)of which I ate half and not worth taking leftover home. Then was charged $5 cover charge when website stated free that night to enter. Band was only mediocre......
Fun times and the recent renovation have indeed breathed a whole new life into a Detroit treasure.
This place has been around forever, but is now under new ownership. That said, its been a Detroit staple for years, and Ive never had a bad experience. I brought my kids here to feather bowl, and they had a blast. They played for hours while myself, my wife and mother in law indulged on incredible mussels and belgian beer. Highly recommend if youre in the area. Its a must, and unique to the bone.
Lots of space on the new patio. Staff was very friendly and helpful at happy hour!
What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Dinner then feather bowling
Put this place on your list of places to check out in Detroit!!!! Friendly STAFF, GREAT FOOD, LIVE ENTERTAINMENT and of course... Feather bowling!!!
We had a great time outside on the new add-on
Outdoor patio is well thought out and received
Feather bowling and live music gotta love it!
Food was actually really good
Th best mussels in Detroit hands down
Bartender makes some strong drinks!!!!
Good food good prices and great service.
Wasted my time. Dont bother.
EXCELLENT FOOD & SERVICE BELGIUM FOOD FANTASTIC
Outdoor stage and gathering area with a garage bar outside and bar inside. Great music. Great new space. Lots if fun!
Great mussels
Fantastic bar with a vast beer menu and amazing mussels! They also had other great choices (burgers, chicken, apps) plus a section of Belgian home cooked favorites. They constantly spotlight local musicians and when we stopped in, a Grateful Dead tribute band was playing and they had us dancing! (Working off some dinner calories didnt hurt)Gated and secured parking lot, plus quick freeway access make this an easy local choice.
Cool place good service!!
So much fun! Social distance friendly, and amazing live music
Real nice has just been remodeled
Great place to hang out!
The Orbitsuns are worth seeing
First time here on advice of son who accompanied us tonight. Classic neighborhood bar with excellent food. We were here on a Tuesday night and the place was very busy. Good service and speed of food to table was great. I had the roast beef dinner. Very good. My son had reubens which were very good. Excellent corned beef. Son and split a mussel appetizer which was also excellent. Will definitely return. Feather bowling in room next door. Lots of history here.
First time here. Went for the music, stayed for the food and feather bowling. Watched the Muggs perform at this intimate establishment. Sound is good, not so loud you cant stand it. And you can say, not a bad seat in the house. Food was very good as well as the friendly service. Went through the side door into their feather bowling ally. I never saw this before, looked like fun. Everyone there was have some. I will definitely be back and am watching for other bands to go back there to see.
Brings back so many memories and the new ownership has done the place proud! Great job John Rutherford and team! 👍🙌❤
