Remember stores that had people in it that were knowledgeable with what they sold? These folks here at Marshalls are first rate. Stand by their products and always go the extra mile for their customers. My ten year old loves going with me here as they have tons of things he is interested in. All home projects start here for us, and we love all the staff at this wonderful hardware store.

I prefer to give my business to local shops but as a construction man with prices already out of controll it is difficult. So I give my smaller project to localy owned but to make money, unfortunately the box-store get the big purchase. Having said that. Loved Marshall Hardware. Highly recommended. Aloha

Lakeside is fortunate to have knowledgeable staff able to help on my DIY projects. This 82 year old store has owner/staff willing to troubleshoot. Marshalls is the greatest. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and rarely do they not have what Im looking for.

The folks at the hardware store are nice enough, but they dont know anything about the fishing licenses or the current fishing regulations for Minnesota. We took my sister and and her boyfriend here to get their trout stamps and licenses so they could fish with us. (They came in from out of state) When they tried to buy a trout stamp, the older man helping us INSISTED they would not need one. We pulled out the manual that they had in the store and showed the hardware store employee exactly where it states you have to have one and he still insisted that we were misunderstanding that ( even though it was quite clear) and they would not need one because they were purchasing a one week fishing license., He literally would not take their money as we stood there puzzled.Well he was wrong and they were right. They were not allowed to fish at Gooseberry Falls State Park because they did not have the trout stamp. Gooseberry park officials confirmed this as did the DNR, so they didnt get to fish. There was no where close by to get the stamp and the phone lines were too busy and on hold for too long trying to get through so they could buy one over the phone. This really messed up our fishing trip, all because the employees here dont know the fishing requirements. Be careful when buying licenses here and if they insist you dont need a trout stamp, leave the store and go buy it somewhere else. YOU DO NEED THE TROUT STAMP.

Small store- but every inch is covered in merchandise. My go-to is saying what Im looking for as soon as I walk in, as the employees know the locations for everything and its much quicker if I need to get in&out. But wandering around can be fun too! Helpful and always friendly. Love the quick convenience of having this in the neighborhood!

Marshall Hardware is a family owned and operated store in Lakeside and is my first stop for every home repair project. They stock a huge selection of fasteners, rope and cord, plumbing fixtures, electrical supplies, hinges and door knobs. They mix paints for every application and have all the supplies for any painting project. They cut and thread pipe, cut glass, rebuild screens, and cut keys as well. They also stock lots of tools and have lots of home furnishing products. The staff are the most helpful youll find anywhere; they probably know what youre looking for even if you dont! While the prices are a little higher then youll find at Menards or Home Depot, youll likely save the difference in gas driving up the hill or to West Duluth.

As usual, they had exactly what I needed. Customer service was top notch. Marshall hardware is always my first stop and usually my only stop when I need to repair something around the house.

I have been here a few times for various things, and the staff are always cheerful and helpful. They treat their customers like family. There is a wide selection of products, and its easy to find exactly what youre looking for with the help of the knowledgeable staff.

Marshall Hardware is a great asset to the Lakeside community. They carry at least one of nearly anything your old house is lacking. Walking through their door is a visit to the old days where they remember your name and even help you solve your household problem, all for about 47 cents. The first week I moved in they lent me their pipe wrench because I hadnt unpacked mine yet. They even have some toys and kitchen tools. So grateful that we still have Marshall Hardware!

They almost always have what you need, but expect to pay a lot for most items. Still, if you need 1 can of spray foam, is it worth saving 5 bucks to spend the time and gas to run to Menards? Not for me! Glad they are here for those times when i need something to finish up a project or to get me out of a jam! Hoorah Marshall high price! Honestly, though $7.99 for a can of great stuff IS a bit ridiculous!

They know the stock on hand and how to order any items that are not in the store. The owner manager, Steve Marshall, is a skilled professional who hires and retains competent workers who serve customers efficently and courteously. It is a combination of the best of small independent hardware stores and efficient access to the large range of inventory characteristic of big box stores.

I have often gone to this family run hardware store. They are friendly and helpful and knowledgeable.

Always helpful, they refer you if they dont have what you need, but most of the time they have it! And they know where it is on the shelf, too. Friendly folks, this is what a neighborhood hardware store is supposed to be. They will also help you find plumbers, electricians, you name it. Great place.

Good service... nice selection for a old school neighborhood store

I have only lived in are 6 weeks and yet have been to Marshalls 5 times for different projects. I am not very savvy on fixing things but when talking with them they put it in a way that helps me do it right. I was going to go to another hardware store at the suggestion of one of Marshalls workers but I am going to go back and get my new snow blower instead of getting a used one. Cant say enough good things will spend mh money locally with them....thanks for being so helpful, courteous and knowledgeable...great store

I love this store!! I walk in and say, I need (this), and no matter how obscure I may think it is, they say, Sure, its right over here. They have EVERYTHING. The staff is always friendly and helpful. At other stores, you get this special treatment only if youre a regular customer. I felt like a regular customer from the first day I went there. Now I AM a regular customer.

My husband and I moved to the neighborhood about a year and a half ago. We have been to Marshalls on several occasions for a variety of home needs - clogged bathtub, remodeling projects, painting, electrical, etc. The service they provide is outstanding and extremely consistent. They help you find exactly what you need and then go above and beyond in providing advice and instruction. Although you might pay slightly higher prices compared to a big box store, Ive always found the prices reasonable and the service more than makes up for the difference.
