This company has been awful from the start. I found them online and hired them for my July 2021 move. As the date got closer to my moving date, I tried calling, emailing and using their online chat feature (which conveniently is always down) and I could never get ahold of anyone, because I needed to find out what time they would be delivering the box. When I could never reach anyone, I decided to go with another, more reliable company and cancelled my services with Smartbox. After many calls and call backs, I was finally able to cancel the service and I received a refund about a week later. Fast forward to August 2021, and the company randomly debits my account the same amount they did back in July when I was originally going to use their services. I have called NUMEROUS times since I found this error in my account and each person I speak with just passes the blame, but no one is actually willing to do anything to correct this and refund my money. I have asked to speak with a manager multiple times and am promised one will call me back and I have yet to receive a call from one. I have emails out to Neil and Laura regarding this matter and neither of them have returned my emails. I did get one email from Miranda, and she was incredibly rude and condescending and failed to address my concerns and questions in my emails after that first response. This has been incredibly frustrating and I have had to dispute this with my bank due to the companys negligence or willingness to communicate with me. I also had to cancel my debit card and have a new one reissued to ensure this company that loves to pass the buck cannot pull from my account again next month for a service I never even received in the first place. I strongly encourage others to look elsewhere when looking for a pod. If you are in Denver, I highly suggest Units. They are reliable, professional, answer their phones, reply to emails in a promptly manner and show up the time they tell you they will.
I have been on hold for three days. Everyone I emailed is out of office. The chatbox has given me someone will be with you momentarily every minute for the last 3 hours with no one responding. This company has everything I own and I cant get a single person to respond so I can get it back. Honestly this should be illegal.
I have been trying for a week to get some in touch with Smart Box to schedule delivery of my 5 boxes from storage. This is very upsetting that they have EVERYTHING I own and no one responds to emails, no one answers the phone OR returns phone calls. Even the Live Chat feature doesnt work. How can I get my stuff scheduled for delivery? If you own this company, you have my account info based on my name. Please call me!
This company doesnt answer the phone, and doesnt call you back when their system saves your place in line. How can they be Americas preferred mover if they ignore their customers. Are they a stable company ? Ive been on hold for an hour now, while writing this review -
I used SmartBox several years ago and the service was ok. You get what you pay for. I ordered a box on 6/9 to be delivered 6/11 and they were a no call no show. I tried calling them and spent 3 hours on wait and never got through to an actual person. I let the automated call back system save my place in line and never got a call back. I finally got a call back on 6/13 and the rescheduled for 6/14 and again no call no show. I had to be out of my house on that date forcing me to rent storage and a UHaul. I cant imagine if they actually had my property and I couldnt get through to them to deliver. Do not trust this company. . In a time of moving where dates and accountability are needed do not trust in this company to follow up and be accountable and respect you as a customer. This place is not reliable what so ever. They left me hanging.
We trusted Smartbox with our belongings for nearly 3 years before asking that our boxes be delivered to our home. We were absolutely shocked when they arrived. The boxes had no waterproof coverings and our padlocks had been removed and replaced with 6 inch bolts. There were dozens of 2 inch sharp staples protruding from the exterior walls where wall braces had fallen off or otherwise removed. Both doors were so damaged and out of alignment they could not be latched. Most our our belongings were scattered about the interior and many were seriously water damaged. I called the Smart Box customer service number and was told that the local manager (Jennifer) would call me to discuss our situation. She did not call after several days. I again called customer service and was assured they would email and call Jennifer and have her call immediately. Nearly two weeks went by and no call. I called customer service again and was told to send a detailed email to the regional manager - a man named John. I sent the email along with photographs (which I have attached to this review) and have yet to hear from either Jennifer or John. This has been one of the worst experiences ever and I would discourage anyone from using Smartbox. They have complete disregard for your possessions and they are absolutely unresponsive to their customers. After multiple calls and detailed emails, they leave us no choice but to take some sort of legal action. Trust me. Look at the attached photos and avoid Smartbox like the plague.
Very rarely do I ever write reviews, however I thought it would be important to warn others against using this company. I chose Smartbox because they were inexpensive and I didn’t plan to need to use them for very long (no minimum time). Unfortunately I’ve had a bad experience. One of the boxes would not latch properly when it was loaded, thus it sat for two days at my house without a lock, filled with my things. I called Smartbox and they said they would have someone come out and look at it. No one ever came. Recently I called to have my boxes pulled out of storage so that I could access them. They tell you they will be out for a 2 hour window. It took me 30 minutes to find the correct place, and I was on hold the entire time trying to ask someone directions. Once I realized they are located at Bailey’s, I found someone in the office. They had my information, however my boxes had not been moved outside. I waited another 15 minutes for them to move my boxes out. When I finally got through to customer service (located in the Midwest), I requested that the local manager call me to discuss these issues. To date, I have not received a call. The one star in this review is for the very kind man who retrieved my boxes and helped me fix the lock on the one that would not latch.
My experience with this company has been HORRIFIC. I ordered a unit to sit on my property for 2 months. I received the unit and it was extremely rickety (its wood) and didnt include the lock I had ordered / paid for. Instead, there was a wooden stick used as a makeshift lock.Nonetheless, we filled the unit with our belongings and 3 days later I received a phone call from Smartbox saying they needed to come get the unit and store it at their facility. This is neither what I had specified nor agreed to. I was told that because they dont have enough of the red coverings, they have to come get the box and use the red covering for another customer.So, they essentially sell more than what they have to offer. Once you sign up and go to the trouble of having everything delivered and fill it with your things, they call with the bait and switch news that you have no choice but to have them pick it up. They had the nerve of even wanting to charge me delivery fees!Ive tried calling this company back multiple times and today I finally got a live person after sitting on hold for over 45 MINUTES. Then, the customer service rep was unable to help me and has apparently asked the local manager to contact me. I have, not surprisingly, not heard back.This company has a website that doesnt have the functionality to deliver on the limitations of the local operations. The communication is horrific. They are obviously grossly understaffed and, again, are committing to services that they cant deliver.I strongly recommend avoiding this company. I wish I had done my research.
If I could give negative stars I would. I am so so angry. These boxes leak. They WILL destroy all of your belongings unless of course it never rains and it is the perfect temperature where you live every day. Then it is probably fine for you to store valuables in a shoddily made wooden box. But those of us who live in reality require things like water resistance.And when you ask them to do something about it they will ignore you for days. Someone will call you and unfortunately I cant give out the local number but no call and no communication. As it stands they are going to pickup and store empty boxes tomorrow because I am not willing to put my few belongings that are not waterlogged & permanently damaged back in a box that I know leaks, and no one will respond to my request for a solution to this problem.And now, I am going to have to find somewhere to store my belongings before the week is up. I might have had more time to figure that out, but of course they were delivered late.If I wanted to throw my treasured belongings into a pit of water I could have done that for free. I am out hundreds of dollars and they havent even picked the boxes up from my driveway for storage. I am terrified of what would happen once they are not in my eyesight.Save your money and destroy all your belongings yourself.
Ive had a box for 2 months in my driveway while we undergo a remodel/addition on our house. Due to construction delays I called to extend the box for one more month. The agent that I spoke to never canceled the original pick up date. I got home from work to find the box gone with all my belongings in it!! Ive been told that they will redeliver the box but I cant get the local office to call me back. I even drove to the address listed on the website and its not the right address. SHADY ORGANIZATION!! No customer service. Im calling the police today to report my belongings stolen by the company if they dont return them!!!
We needed 6 boxes to clear out my parents estate and move my brother into the house. They provide 6 did not have any issues and they arent to big. Thanks for giving us a piece of mind.
Worse moving company
Smartbox is reasonably priced.The boxes have 2 strap holds, but you need to supply your own straps.Smartbox provides locks, but you would be better served to use your own, if you have them. My locks were damaged when the boxes arrived, but I trusted my sturdier locks considering that the boxes had a longer trip. Getting the doors opened and closed could be difficult. I would recommend you wear gloves to protect your hands.You also don’t need to be present when they pick the boxes up. I wasn’t told and so I waited around for them.
I was nervous using Smartbox after reading the local reviews but the staff and boxes were great. Out of the 7 boxes we did have a couple rough boxes that didnt shut and open very well. But the other 5 were constructed differently so you can tell that the previous input has started to correct these issues. Pick up and delivery were spot on and nothing in the boxes were damage. I would consider using Smartbox for future moves.
I went online an received an email quote of $866When I called to book it I was told the quote was incorrect and it would actually be more than $3000!Thats too big if an inaccurate quote for me to use your company!Unbelievable!
They made the whole process very simple and easy. The cost was very competitive.
This experience was a problem from the beginning they put it in the wrong location and tried to charge us to fix it. Auto pay issues and terrible customer service. Would avoid this company at all costs !
Ordered two Smartboxes. One of the boxes was damaged. Lower latch was broken and bottom bracket was non existent. Box was questionable and wobbled sideways to and from. Minor damage to art work.Compared to the other Smartbox the damaged one was very questionable if it would make the trip. During peak times Smartbox may not be able to remove boxes when asked. Due to overbooking customers, customer service suffers with this company. If you use them make sure boxes are in good shape before driver leaves. Otherwise your items may be damaged in transit due to faulty box or boxes.
Reasonable price and good service
Dumbox - only reason theyre getting two stars not one is because they did actually get the box to the destination in one piece and the customer service people were nice. This has to be one of the most disorganized bootleg operations Ive ever dealt with - theres a reason why they are so much cheaper than Pods. This is my experience moving from NJ to Denver. The boxes are pretty much just 2 by 4s nailed together with a tarp over them - the first box they delivered had the main beam at the entrance completely split so the box was slanting to the side and it was impossible to even close the door. Called and asked them for a new box - cost me a day, second box was in slightly better shape but still pretty beat up. They advertise you can access your box while its in storage - what they dont tell you is the local storage contractor they use only has access hours from 9am-4pm during the week and 9am-11am on saturday. I schedule an appointment for 9am saturday to get a few things - I get there at 9 and no one is there, call up smartbox and have to wait for 40 minutes for the local storage people show up at the warehouse (they said they had no idea i was coming) - they cant find my box until i spot it stacked on top of 3 other boxes so have to wait while they get it down with a forklift. A few weeks later, i decided to pick up the rest of my stuff at the warehouse rather than having the whole box delivered to my apartment complex. This time i set up an appointment to go during my lunch break - i called smartbox the morning of to confirm that the contractor will be there so i can access my box. I show up and again, no body is there. While im on the phone with smartbox one of the local warehouse people happens to show up, and tells me my box is ready for me at a different warehouse 10 minutes away - smartbox never told me that my box was moved to a new location for the final pickup.... All around very frustrating experience, you get what you pay for i guess.
After telling me they service the Waco area and me moving there then they decided they do not serve the Waco area but they did go to Temple so I then moved to Killeen which is right next to Temple and now they wont even bring myself to Killeen I have to go to Temple Run a truck I have 3 days to get 5 boxes and Im disabled so is my son and they expect me to do this by myself

They were supposed to deliver a box yesterday, but didnt, because their driver was overbooked.. They were supposed to call today, but havent. When I tried to call them, I was put on hold for over 15 minutes. Terrible customer service.
Overall poor customer service. Locks were cut off my boxes, water and heat damage to my goods, boxes were moved several times resulting in excessive wear to some items...all this was presented to customer service and was met with indifference.
I didnt like really anything about any part of this experience, the size was difficult to work with mattresses were a problem, ordered a extra unit after the first 3,but they charged me rent on all 4 units when first payment was due, last unit should have been due at later date just wasnt happy at all
It started off shaky with some scheduling issues that got resolved but it came a day late and cost me a day off work for nothing and once it was loaded up we found out that the door frame was broken and had to fight to get the door closed.
