The person Ive spoken to on the phone when Ive called has always been polite and helpful. There ended up being another issue with the vehicle after pickup, and they were quick to have it brought back in asap without an additional charge.

Gear business. Very helpful and friendly staff. Either the owner or main technician got on the phone to explain some stuff to me which I thought was great. He wanted to ask me some questions and also make sure I understood a couple issues with my car. I will continue to take my autos to them.

The descriptions and illustrations pointing out the issues are extremely helpful in making the decision to repair problems. Everything that was performed to my vehicle was done timely and communicated extremely clear to me so that I had no surprises when picking up my vehicle. I found a vehicle in the area that I wanted to purchase. I called around to quite a few places to see if anyone was available to do a pre-purchase inspection over the weekend with no luck. That is, until I found this place! I was informed that they do “virtual” inspections and that all that would be required would be for the seller to drop off the vehicle and they would email me the info. They also let me know they could fit me in next day! They were as friendly as could be and the information I received back was excellent. I live in Portland, but wish I lived in the area just so that I could use them as my regular mechanics. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!!!

When I first purchased my car it had an autostart feature. That stopped working for about 2 years. I took my vehicle in to have diagnostics done for the suspension as a second opinion. I was unhappy to learn the car needed more repairs 😑. I love the inspection report with photographs of repairs needed. After all the repairs were done on my vehicle I was extremely pleased to have the autostart function work again. I didnt know what I was missing until I had the suspension replaced. Now its smooth driving! Thank you all for you for all the hard work and time invested in the care of my vehicle!!! Keep up the good work!!!

My car broke down on the interstate passing through Eugene on my way to WA and Downtown Automotive Center did a great job of getting me back on the road as quickly as possible, despite quite intensive repairs they had to do on the car.

They tried to charge me almost $1000 dollars to change my battery and alternator. Thats at least double what it should normally cost. I had to get my car towed to a shop that wouldnt overcharge me.

My car broke down in Eugene and this garage was recommended by the tow truck driver. They replaced 2 sensors which didnt fix it. They told me that it would be $4800 to completely repair it. My mechanic from Salem came, got my car, told me no one actually checked inside the engine. He replaced the timing belt and tensioner. Less than $300. I paid them almost $500 for 2 sensors(that my mechanic confirmed, I didnt need) and some diagnostics. THEY WANTED ME TO JUNK MY CAR!!! On a worst case scenario! They didnt confirm what the actual problem was! By the way, it was the bearings in the tensioner.

Went there with some car trouble. The guys I spoke to (I think Brad and Brandon) were very informative and helpful. Unfortunately my car couldnt be fixed due to some financial issues on my end, but the guys there were super helpful getting everything squared away with getting the car scrapped. Definitely will be back to them if I have any future car inquiries.

They were honest and very thorough in checking over the car and describing what needs to be repaired and replaced. They will send a report with descriptions and pictures which is very helpful in understanding what should be done. I am not familiar with prices of parts for vehicles, but from some quick googling their costs were very reasonable. I would recommend going here!

Not only are they 50% more expensive than other shops in the area but also when under control of my volkswagon they damaged the inside of my car and said nothing about it super unprofessional do not recommend.

Brian is the definition of a professional who does the right thing. I took my VW to him for the year that I lived in Eugene and felt good that he was looking after my car. Before I left, there was an issue after having an oil change. My car was literally on the towing dolly to head out of town and I called him with my concern. He drove to my house with his mechanic and they checked it out. The long and short of it was that Brian found a shop in the new city I was moving to and spoke with them about the issue Id be bringing it in for. He took care of everything. For that reason, Ill recommend him to all my VW owning friends who still remain in Eugene. Thanks, Brian!

I called Downtown Auto Repair while on Highway 5 from San Francisco to Seattle. The D light indicator on my dash began to blink. The very nice guys at Downtown Auto not only made sure they could fit me in to take a look right away, they adjusted my expectations, saying it is probable that Id need to stay the night in Eugene as it could be a transmission issue. I checked 2 other places to see what they had to say, if they could get me going faster, and both said it is definitely not advisable to continue the trip and also they had no availability...Downtown Auto called me just as they were closing and told me the diagnosis - they needed to source and install a new pressure switch. They were able to do all of this by the next morning around 10:15 and I was on my way. Definitely turned what could have been a frustrating wrench in my plans into a slight and manageable delay. Honestly, the most pleasant a car trouble scenario could have gone on an 800 mile drive. Thank you Downtown Auto Repair!

I will never take my car anywhere else. I was able to get in quickly, a diagnostic report was sent to me via text and I was able to see any issues that my vehicle had. I took it in for an oil change and an AC recharge and when I went to pick it up it was washed and vacuumed. Customer service was top notch and everything was explained in detail!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐DAC is absolutely, hands down, AMAZING!!!They were quick and efficient, honest and provide such a high level of service you just dont see very often anymore from others. They even vacuumed out our mommy missile and gave it a much needed bath, the cherry on top to great service!!!

Newer to Eugene and needed a mechanic to fix my passenger side door (It would not open from the inside or the outside.) I read the reviews for Downtown Automotive and decided to give them a try. They were extremely clear and articulate over the phone and in person. I was very happy with the experience and with the pricing for their work. They described in detail what they would do to discover the issue and everything went smoothly. Very efficient! We will definitely bring our cars here in the future.

They have been extremely polite and helpful every time I’ve come in, even with very short notice. I got back a full and detailed report about my car and potential work to be done, and they were super honest and up-front about how to prioritize those repairs, being conscious of my budget. They told me exactly what was and what wasn’t important, how to tell when things need to be replaced, how to get my money’s worth out of the parts I’ve got now, and even little details like which settings are best for my heating/air conditioning under which conditions. The inspection cost exactly as much as I was initially told it would, and I was very satisfied with the service. They communicate quickly and with a lot of detail and patience. I trust them completely, and I’d recommend them to anyone.

Great place came in to to get clutch replaced, they worked quickly and cut no corners wasnt cheap but definitely not over priced.

They were very good at communicating with me while my car was with them. They identified the problem within a few hours and fixed it for a fair price. They even washed my car and vacuumed the interior before I came to get it. Great customer service all around!

I had an excellent experience with the service at Downtown Automotive Center. I took my mk7 GTI in for an issue with the clutch not releasing. The technicians there diagnosed the issue and recommended the necessary repairs. I discussed with them and decided to go with an upgraded South Bend clutch, APR stage 2 tune with exhaust down pipe and replace the clutch bleeder block. They also changed the gear oil in the manual transmission. They quoted a price and completed the work with no additional markups. They also stayed in contact with updates as parts arrived and work was performed. They showed me the failed parts and explained what had happened. They also returned the car washed and vacuumed. The new setup works great, the car is much faster and the new clutch and bleeder block are much nicer than the stock setup. I would definitely recommend Downtown Automotive Center.

I brought in my 2012 VW GTI for some maintenance and left with 40 more horsepower. These guys are great - very professional and responsive, and they will tune your car if you want a little extra. After my warranty expired I was looking for a good German car mechanic and this is it! Highly recommended.

I was very impressed with the service and professionalism of this shop. I came to get my car aligned and I was informed that the reason for the wobbling that I was experiencing was due to the condition of my tires, not the need for alignment as I had been told prior. Saved me money and gave me a review of my vehicle free of charge. I would highly recommend this place.

Honestly, they have been above-and-beyond in terms of car service, customer service, and pricing. I had my transmission explode last year and they were super accommodating about my problem; especially with the month long warranty situation involving the transmission company. Not only were they patient enough to get a free replacement and deal with the headache involved, they also kept me in the loop every step of the process. And with my most recent car trouble, they did a fantastic job. They were honest about what needed to be fixed, how to work around a problem that could be a major concern, did more than was asked, and only did maintenance on things that were necessary. Even knowing that my super old car was on its last legs and was one foot in the donation process, they were sympathetic and helpful.10/10 would strongly recommend to anyone who is in need of maintenance, has car trouble, and anything else in-between.

I dont know about you all, but it took me 20 years to find a mechanic who I completely trust, and who doesnt overcharge. Ive been going to Downtown Automotive for 4 years now, and I have lost track of how many times that have gone above and beyond for me. The owner is a connoisseur of and amazing with VWs, and has also given me awesome service with domestic and hybrid vehicles. I will never change mechanics.
