Outdoor seating is available but wait time for that was a lot longer. Indoor seating area has a nice casual atmosphere. The menu is unique and different. Allergen friendly. Service was attentive and friendly but food did take a while to come out however our food was fresh, with a nice presentation, and generous portion. I had the tacos and those were tasty and filling. My brother was not impressed by the soup of the day but loved the biscuit appetizer. Don’t try their water (or any in st Augustine) and just try their cane cola. Great location close to the historic district but parking was difficult.
Two words: fresh and unique. Even the smell of the dining room was fresh and herbal. My wife started with a mixed drink, (forgot the name) but was strongly mango flavored, as well as just strong. It had some interesting herbal notes as well.I got the Cuban sandwich with a side salad, and it was excellent. Finally: a Cuban sandwich with enough mustard and pickles! The salad dressing was actually so tasty I finished every bit of my salad, and I’m normally picky about salads. My wife got the chicken burrito, and it was very unique. More like a wrap, and very reminiscent of a spring roll. Lots of lettuce and loads of unique flavors. A bit spicy too.The only lackluster item was the potatoes my wife got on the side. They were a little under-done.Waiting staff were polite and attentive. Excellent restaurant if you are looking for something fresh and unique.
Amazing food and drinks as well as great service. We had a great experience. The food was delicious and their cocktails are excellent. The food is fresh and it was one of the best meals I has in St Augustine. My only complaint is they automatically included a 20% tip in the bill without saying anything first. The service was excellent and was certainly deserving of a 20% tip (and I certainly planned on including one regardless) but Id rather they leave it up to the customer instead of putting it on the bill automatically without outright stating so before you get the bill.
A block off St George near the heart of downtown is this great indoor/outdoor eatery. We sat outdoors very comfortably for late lunch. I had the Dixie Burger and since I am a vegetarian I had the black bean/sweet potato version on a ciabatta roll - one of the best veggie burgers ever! The Floridian caters to veggie & gluten free patrons as well as run of the mill carnivores 😎. Also had the fried green tomatoes - the food is awesome! You will be pleased! I will return!
This is one of my FAVORITE St. Augustine restaurants! The fare can be described as gourmet southern with a twist. Just ate there today with a friend and had the fried green tomato BLT and a salad with home made corn bread croutons! Have also enjoyed the tacos, Cuban sandwich, and varied appetizers on other visits. Enjoy the fab mixed drinks and bottom line is that you cannot go wrong here. Save room for dessert and take home a cool Tee!
We visited here in August 2021 on recommendations from several people we know. Located in downtown St. Augustine, it still has the feel (and taste!) Of a locally owned restaurant versus some of the more tourist-based restaurants in the area. The food was excellent, service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a fun vibe. Food tasted fresh, and they had some good local beers. Highly recommend and we will go back next time we are in the area!
Was recommended by a local. Tucked away off the main drag of Old Town. Ate in the bar area. Small outdoor dining. Popular. Great Fried Green Tomato with side of cornbread. Bay of Pigs was delicious. Just a jog off George St. to Spanish Street. Parking very sparse. Would recommend, particularly for lunch
Finally had the chance to try The Floridian, and it did not disappoint!! We had an early reservation as we were headed to a concert at the Amp. The hostess was bubbly and welcoming, promptly showing us to a table in the downstairs dining room. Another young man immediately filled our waters and our wonderful server (sweet blonde, cant remember her name) appeared just after. She was super helpful and had excellent menu knowledge, helping us make great choices. We started with a Swamp Pony (modern take on a mojito) and an (Endless) Summer Babe for cocktails. You could tell on sight that both were carefully handcrafted, and they tasted amazing!Started with the Fried Shrimp Fancy and Fried Green Tomatoes for starters. Seriously, the best FGT weve ever had. The shrimp were layered with flavors, a touch spicy and had this wonderful sauce with cashews. While there is no complimentary bread service, be sure to ask for the $1 bread for one and youll get a warm, sourdough baguette to sop up every bit of sauce from the shrimp starter. For dinner, I had the Brisket (Posole) Verde and my husband the Shrimp and Sausage Palau (like a fancy jambalaya). Again, amazing flavors. Rice was cooked perfectly al dente and not mushy like most places. All in all, we very much enjoyed our meals. There wasnt one thing we tasted that wasnt OMG good. Our table was kept cleared and manicured during our meal, with waters full the whole time. The Floridian is definitely a must visit in St. Augustine, we cant wait to go back.It was getting busy upon our departure (6:30ish), with many parties waiting outside, definitely utilize making a reservation. There is conveniently a metered parking lot just across from the restaurant, where you can pay $6 for the first 2 hours. Otherwise, there is another $5 lot around the block or you can try your luck with street parking.
My favorite place to eat in St Augustine! Always consistently great food and service. The food is southern but creative. My favorite is the cornbread stack! But, check out their eclectic menu. So many delicious choices. This place is good for carnivores, pescatarians, vegans, and picky eaters. Try the local Mayport shrimp. The best!
Delicious meal at The Floridian. Its been a couple of years since Ive eaten here & the food is still top notch! Something for everyone in the family, from a 5 uear old to an 85 year old. We ordered the Companys Coming & Pickled Pepper Shrimps for the table to share. Perfect! I ordered the Cornbread Panzanilla with grilled shrimp and loved it. Plenty of outdoor seating. My only request would be a couple more fans outside.
My boyfriend and I visited St. Augustine on our road trip and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my time there. The Floridian Restaurant was a wonderful find in the area. It has a relaxed vibe with delicious food in this beautiful historic town. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and timely. The food came out fast, hot, fresh, and tasty. The vibe was similar to Key West; tropical, chill, and breezy. We enjoyed our food and service. I would definitely eat here again if in the area.
The best restaurant i have been to in a while. The food was amazing and the service was immaculate. If you ever pass by st. augustine, this place is a must.-i got the cornbread stack and the fried tomatoes as an appetizer. The fried tomatoes honestly won everything over, it was so good. The cornbread was to die for. Im a vegetarian so i had tofu on mine, and im not really a big fan of tofu, but it was just so good.
We had lunch here. Me, spicy fish sandwich with Mahi and a side salad. Wife got the stacked corn cakes with Mahi. The blackened fish on my sandwich only covered about half of the bun, pretty sad really. I should have taken a picture. Fish was OK, bun was very dry. Side salad was pretty basic. We’ve been on a two month trip around FL and my go-to for lunch is a fish sandwich, this was the worst one.Wife’s cornbread stack was OK but the fish was over-cooked. At $28, alright not worth it.Overall, not too impressed and wouldn’t return.
Absolutely delicious! The best vegetarian meal we have had in a long time. Packed with flavor. Menu items have Tofu or Tempeh options for protein. Gluten free options as well. You will not be disappointed if you like flavor. We had the Fried green tomatoes, a side of fingerling potatoes, Citrus Beet Bowl with blackened Tofu, Cornbread Stack with Blackened Tofu. We would go back tomorrow. Outside and indoor seating available. There is a parking lot right next door but it is $15 as well as metered parking across the street but limited space available.
New favorite meal in Florida. The food was Las Vegas good! They had so many gluten free and vegetarian options and the freshest fish and greens. The pickled veggies were delicious in the pickled shrimp dish. The gluten free biscuit and belly was the absolute perfect bite. We loved the Shrimp Banh MI Po Boy and Spicy Melt with fresh flounder. The food was next level good and the server Rose was excellent at making things gluten free.
Very pleased with waitress’s, Lorelei recommendations. The spicy fish melt was made to heat tolerance. The tacos with the braised beef was out of this world. I would come back and eat here again.
Dont go at shift change I.E. 2:45 - 3:15. My wife loves the salad w/ salmon. She has tried 2,the beet and berry and the Southern Belle.Said its one of the best Salmon she has ever eaten. I on the other hand got the Bay of pigs, their Cuban style pork, pickled veggies, and some horrible mustard romelade lathered all over the incredible mushy ciabatta roll that is supposed to be panini pressed. A serious lack of pork and a sandwich you cannot eat tastefully. They would fair better to add some of that pork belly with the braised pork if the want a bay of PIGS and some Cuban crunchy bread. Not a fan!!!
This is my second time eating at The Floridian and the food was so mouthwatering and filling. I did make the mistake of not making a reservation for dinner and it was an hour and a half wait, but it really isn’t that big of deal because it’s located in the middle of St. Augustine so there are plenty of places to kill time and check out while waiting and they’ll text you when your table is ready. When I visited the first time, it was lunchtime so there was barely even a wait. Anyway, my boyfriend and I ordered the chips and dips as an appetizer and we loved both dips, one is a hummus and the other a black bean dip, the chips are homemade and freshly fried. I ordered the tacos for an entree and they were packed with flavor, but I do have to say I wish I got what my boyfriend did because it was soooooo delicious, I pretty much made him trade meals with me. He got the brisket posole verde, which is a brisket bowl on rice with toppings and chips. Seriously it was so packed with many flavors and was savory and filling. 10/10 recommend
You can park for $10 next to the restaurant and enjoy great food and service. After you can walk around the historic district. The staff were friendly and helpful. They took the time to answer our questions and recommend dishes. We had the Shrimp and Grits and Cornbread Stack with Flounder. Both were delicious! We followed up with the amazing caramel drizzled apple pie with whipped cream on top. Unforgettable experience!
We drove up from Tampa and was referred by a local to celebrate our birthday there! Everything was absolutely perfect. From the moment we walked in the hostess was friendly and sweet. I also watched her pitch in and notice when things needed to be done and did so with a smile.Everything was awesome, the food, the magic energy, and the best bloody Mary Ive ever had.I have managed restaurants and bars for over 30 years and my friend whose birthday we celebrated owned many restaurants in Tampa and he enjoyed every crumb, if we left any. The caramel almond apple pie was sinful and heaven in each bite! Our server, Tony was amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The bartender and staff was the best and if I still had my place I would have stolen all of the staff. No doubt I give this place 5 stars and would drive up just to eat here! Thank you for making a wonderful memory!
Busy as usual so we sat at the bar and enjoyed dinner there with a friendly, attentive bartender Andrew who made sure that everything was exactly as we wanted. Food was delicious which Im told is the norm. Plenty of 🍤 and sausage in the dish my friend ordered and zero fat in the (I never would have ordered) brisket that came recommended. Very tasty.
This is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in St. Augustine, and I always stop in. I recommend making a reservation to ensure a spot. We tend to go right when they open. There is outdoor tables and the flowers on every table is a nice touch. The cocktails are so refreshing and the salads are amazing with housemade dressings. The location is perfect to enjoy the downtown area and local shops. There is also outdoor seating with beautiful plants and flowers to surround you.
Items on the menu had unique twists to the American staples. Food was extremely tasty and homemade, as someone who loves to cook and feed people ( with great reviews of my cooking) this is tough sometimes when we go eat out but I was not disappointed at all by the Floridian! I wish I had one near me which is 150 miles away form at Augustine :-( Till next visit!
The food here is amazing, great atmosphere too. Lots of vegetarian options, and the menu states many dishes can be made vegetarian. And its GOOD vegetarian. Like they do it how it should be done. Good dish, flavorful protein, a perfect package. Had the cornbread/tofu dish and the grits/tofu and both were amazing. Appetizers great too, and the drinks - yum. Highly recommend.
We had a reservation for 8:30. Our table wasnt even ready by 8:45. What was the point of the reservation? Whatever, Im patient lets still eat. We ordered the cheese platter, tacos, fried chicken burger, and the pulled pork and waffles. Theyre all terrible. The tacos were bland, the fried chicken was sweet(criminal), and the pulled pork was had no taste other than syrupy nastiness. Top it all off our check was 126 dollars. Not worth the money at. Honestly, I wouldve preferred to go to a hot dog stand.
I was hesitant to try this place based on the name. Im glad I did -- the food was incredible! I loved everything I ate. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The flavors were complex and bold. Very filling as well. Would highly recommend!
Excellent food for St. George Street. Waaay better than Pizza Time! Got there right after they opened around 11:30am and maybe had a 10 min wait. I ordered the cobb salad with blackened salmon and blue cheese dressing, no turkey. My husband ordered the shrimp po boy sandwich. It came with fries and a side of pasta salad which unfortunately had onions which he doesn’t eat, but he said the sandwich and fries were delicious. The salad was very fresh and the red snapper was moist and tender; not spicy at all which can sometimes be the case with blackened seasoning. Will definitely visit again!!
Excellent takeaway experience. We ordered the biscuits with pork belly. The biscuits were delicious and the pork belly was perfectly cooked: crispy outside and juicy inside. We also had the brisket tacos and meatloaf sandwich. Well worth the price. The cornbread is FANTASTIC. We had a problem with our order, but they made the correction and gave us a free salted caramel brownie. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area.
Amazing flavors! Best Chicken and waffles I have had. Great desserts. Southern fusion, if that is a category.
Great food. Had the Shrimp Bahn Mi Po-boy, it was excellent. More of a locals place than tourist joint. Very refreshing for St Augustine.
Loved the pickled prawns appetizer. Pulled pork wasnt the best Ive had. Black bean burger was good. Liked the swamp pony cocktail and good variety of beers. I did a reservation online so I didnt have to wait. Decor was a little clumsy with what was aimed to look quaint. You have public paid parking nearby.
Not sure how this place got such a good rating. Food is average, overcharged after ordered burger and got extra 2$ charge on a bill for pepper jack cheese without any heads up. Got extra charge on another item for my guest it was taken out after pointing but still not a conversation you wanna have after the meal. Wouldnt come back or recommend
Dont be put off by the underwhelming appearance from the street and the almost tacky decor inside of non-matching chandeliers and formica countertops The food is excellent a perfect harmony of mixtures the chef knows what hes doing Im so glad we stayed and had dinner. I had the sirloin steak frites which were excellent and they also could be served as vegan or vegetarian. My wife had the veggie burger which she thought was amazing. Service was friendly and warm Im very happy we stopped they also have outdoor seating for good weather.
The food was great and they took care about my wifes gluten allergy. StethoSafe
Very come-as-you-are vibe with good food, good service, and generous portions at a fair price. Try the Po Boy Banh Mi sandwich and hummus plate and one of their Boylan sodas.
I was a bit apprehensive when I went and looked at the menu, but my un-named Mezcal drink, apps, and food was amazing. They obviously focus on the food. Its farm to table so menu changes. Give them a try..betcha food is going to be great!!
Everyone raves about this place, so we came with high hopes. The ambiance is great, but the food fell a bit short of our expectations. Still good, just not the best we had in Saint Augustine. They also have good cocktails.
Everything at the Floridian was fresh and delicious! Would recommend if you’re looking for southern food with a unique twist. The staff was so friendly and we enjoyed the entire experience!
Staff was very pleasant. Food was odd. I had the biscuits and pork. Biscuit was fair but Pillsbury makes a more flavorful biscuit. It came with this strange buttery cheese spread. The pork be it belly was far too fatty, probably ⅔ fat. And a way to sweet apple dip. The spinach salad was fresh and nice. But overall a just a strange meal.
Had a great experience. Loved the atmosphere and food was delicious 🤤We tried cornbread with tofu and Golden gravy. It was so yum!!! They have vegan options with most of their entrees. Definitely coming back.
The food, and service was phenomenal! I ordered the swamp pony, it was such a delicious drink! I had the steak frites, my husband ordered the shrimp and grits plate, and we had fried green tomatoes as an app. We shared the peanut chocolate cheesecake for dessert. The restaurant atmosphere was cute, rustic and romantic. Its tucked away in a nice quiet area of st augustine. I am definitely going back to try everything else on the menu!
We really enjoyed our meal at The Floridian. We started with the best fried green tomatoes Ive ever had. The breading was perfect compliment to the tomato not to mention the sauce. My wife loved her Shrimp and Purple Grits. My Chicken and Waffle was the best Ive had; the Bourbon apple topping really made the dish. The kids also enjoyed their pulled pork and fried shrimp. Will definitely be back!
I wanted to like this place more. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The burger was good but somewhat difficult to eat and the roasted potatoes as a side dish don’t really work well. Also, since we are only eating outside during the pandemic we were disappointed that they ran out of propane since it was a chilly evening. My cocktail was tasty.
Great food and drinks. The service was outstanding. One of my favorite places in St. Augustine.
Nice place, great attention! Delicious food, I had the vegan burger, It was huge, I couldnt finish! I love it.
Just one word… EXCELLENT!! Little menu=quality food!! The best food in St Augustine!! First time here and I definitely will be back!! Great service, fun environment, amazing drinks!! Natural lemonade is delicious!!
I totally scored finding this gem in Saint Augustine, Fl. Absolutely the best Cornbread mix waffles and fried chicken gluten free chicken/waffles ever right here folks. It is a little hard to find but totally worth it. They have lots of outdoor and indoor seating options with alligators decor throughout. Totally unique vibe and feel in this place.I had the N Grits which I have never had bluish gits before but they were very creamy good texture. The best part was the chicken pancakes waffle hands down. They use real honey to drizzle all over those waffles with walnuts sprinkles about then feta cheese on top. This meal was sweet enough to be dessert too. Everything was so filling I didnt get a chance to try the gluten free pecan bars that looked so good behind the display case inside. I had the privilege to seat outside on the padio. The staff were very friendly and helpful to all my needs making sure my wheat allergy was taken care of.Meet a couple friends with the owner and learned the history of this unique place. If you are in town or passing by differently stop in and give it a try you wont be disappointed.10/10 stars from me.
I had a party of 5 that ate here on a Thursday night in August. We didnt think to make a reservation. The wait was about 20 minutes, during which we just walked around St. Augustine. I had the Southern-Terranean salad bowl with salmon, which I enjoyed. It was about $20. Any meal with the catch of the day was about $30. They had half of the indoor tables blocked off for social distancing. We got our meal reasonably quickly. They had environmentally responsible to-go boxes and bags.
Told 30 min wait which was not at all bad, and we actually only waited 20. Our server was great. Asked her for recommendations and she did not disappoint. Food was served quickly and amazing. Our favorite spot in Saint Aug
Pork belly app was great! Service great and friendly. We shared the cornbread with blackened fish on top and again great. This is our new favorite restaurant.
Go. Here. Our waitress was great. The food was great. The pickled shrimp were AMAZING. We had that, the meatloaf sandwich, and the fried green tomato BLT. Highly recommendable and affordable. Thank you to Rene and staff :)
Very unique menu items and great presentation. Delicious find with pretty and relaxed outdoor seating.
My husband and I went here on my birthday. We got the Biscuit and Belly for an appetizer, and then the Brisket Posole Verde and the Southern Belle salad respectively. The food was to die for, and our waitress was very nice. She surprised me with a coconut cupcake after the meal. Incredible value for what we paid.
Excellent service, focused menu. Fresh ingredients.
Slow. Wasnt very busy but was still there over an hour for a burger. I ordered a burger medium rare but came out over medium (on the verge of well). I would not recommend.
Make a reservation or put your name on the list as soon as you get to St. Aug. so you have time to walk around; Just in time to get called to dinner. It’s a good place to hang with your family. I like that they can substitute the meat option for tofu -Vegetarian friendly. Had the black bean and corn soup of the day- which was vegan and the kids loved. Would come back to try their salads judging from our sweet potato/bean burger’s salad dressing (which was pretty good).
While... alot of thought went into the food I ate I was really underwhelmed.Appetizer: Pork bellyThe pork belly was braised in a way that reduced it to slices of pork roast... Rather than the succulent pork belly that the name leads you to expect...its served in this complex manner atop this almost flavorless beet puree? With honey? On the biscuit side and this apple butter? Sauce with this creamy white cheese? Of some sort. But its sad for how fun it looked it all fell really flat. Each component aside from the biscuit, pork and apple butter flavors was bland. Regardless of how you stuck the pieces together.Entree: Pulled Pork and WafflesPork was very close to being over cooked and was pretty flavorless the waffle was made of cornmeal which was an exciting idea but under the pork and light sauces it became a pretty savory mush. There was a pop of sweetness in the candied apple slices but it was almost too sweet and in the wrong place. it felt like the treatment to the apples would have been better spent through the dish rather than one cloyingly sweet element aside a sea of savory almost murky flavors. The pea shoots helped a little but seemed like an after thoughtThe cocktails were complex and interesting and honestly saved the meal.
We arrived at St. Augustine later than expected due to storms and just wanted to pick something up on the way to the condo with our 3 dogs. Called in an order and it was quickly ready to be picked up. As my partner went in to grab the food they mentioned they are pet friendly so we will probably return another night to eat there with them! The shrimp and grits were extremely good. The miso mango sauce really added a nice flavor. It was packaged perfectly. They also had a curry veggie bisque soup of the day I enjoyed. My partner got the meatloaf sandwich that he said was incredibly flavorful! Really enjoyed this spot!
Unique offerings incorporating fresh veggies & herbs into most, if not all, menu items. The black eyed pea & corn soup of the day, was flavorful, and needed no extra seasoning.....and I loved my FGT (Fried Green Tomato) & BLT, sandwich, with fresh greens & bacon jam. First time eating here, but will definitely be back!!
First, parking around this restaurant can be a real pain. Probably not the restaurants fault but be prepared to search for a spot. Secondly, due to Covid-19 (I think) the wait was at least 45 minutes so plan accordingly. The menu could use a better selection and flexibility when it comes to substituting sides or editing an order. The main reason I give this 4 stars is because our server, Amanda, really made things happen. She was very attentive, she hustled and she did what she could to accommodate the changes to my order that I requested. I really appreciated her doing her best to go above and beyond and would like that effort to be acknowledged.
Food was delicious! We got a few apps, entrees and cocktails- everything was fantastic. Decor and ambiance were laid back and chic.
We had a party of 8 for dinner. Wait time was expected. The waitress was absolutely amazing and very helpful. We had such a wonderful time there, our service was great. The menu was explained thoroughly and the allergies menu was able to be accommodated to. Can wait to go back.
3.5 stars because of the service.Overall the food was good, the atmosphere was cool and clean, and the workers were pleasant. I wasn’t impressed with the service (it wasn’t busy), but it wasn’t experience shatteringly bad or anything. We went at 3pm on a Monday and was seated right away. The hostess was polite and brought us water quickly. Our server was nice but took 5-10 minutes to greet us, and our drinks took a while to arrive as well (again, less than half of available tables were sat). Our food did come out pretty quick relative to everything else. The food is great. I went with my Mom and we both got salads. I got a cocktail and she got a hard cider (bottled Caribe). My cocktail was good and strong (therefore completely worth ordering in my mind). Food wise I would go here again because every item on the menu sounds creative and good! The Southern Belle was fantastic and was affordable at $12. My mom’s beet salad didn’t come with beets but our server didn’t check on us after the initial two bite check back so unfortunately we weren’t able to correct the issue. But there were still plenty of ingredients on it so it definitely wasn’t lacking.
The food is delicious every time we go. Highly recommended.
I first visited The Floridian in 2015 at the old location and had a wonderful experience - my favorite place for a nice, mid to upper range dinner in St. Augustine.Last night was my first time back in St. Augustine and our group of six decided to head into town and try to grab a table without a reservation. Fifteen minute wait, not a big deal and nice to see that theyre using a text-based place holder system. The new location was perfectly nice but felt like it had lost a little bit of the charm from the older, smaller venue. The food was good, but unfortunately not great. The bowls are definitely the way to go, with fresh ingredients and good portion sizes at a fair price. The main menu was a bit bizarre in that most items were listed at market price. Totally understandable for fish, but for beef and poultry? Maybe at a Michelin starred spot in NY but not Saint Augustine. Dishes themselves were just okay, sloppy plating and small protein portions for right around $30.Biggest gripe of the whole evening was our service. Were a pretty laid back group but having the server flippantly correct pronunciations of dishes, mock indecisiveness on drink orders, and scowl through the entire meal - it seemed as if she wanted to be anywhere else but The Floridian and it made everyone in our group uncomfortable.I get it, people have bad nights, but $400 for blatantly bad service paired with subpar food and a little loss of charm left me with a 3/5.
Fantastic food and fantastic staff, made my buddys birthday really nice even though we were in late they didnt rush us out. Highly recommend
Excellent food, great service. The food was unique, creative and excellently prepared. The shrimp po boy sandwich was the best I’ve ever had. Service was spot on and the drinks were delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Allison provided Terrific service, food was wonderful! Fried Green Tomatoes & Berry Beet salad!
Everything Ive had here is flat out amazing. Weve been multiple times over the years and it is the one place to go. Everything is good.
