Great customer service friendly was very speedy I was in and out. I overall had a great experience for the first time being at a coin exchange. A few questions I did have staff were very knowledgeable and was able to help me make better choices with my future investments. So I made a reservation today at 11:30am to pick up a 1 oz gold Buffalo. They tell me that their premium is $160. Okay, thats fine. But when I arrive at 4:00pm at my appointment to pick up the coin, they then tell me they are charging me $200 over spot price?!?!? So I lost money by leaving work early and driving an hour, just so they can try to charge me more??? And they had my phone number.... They easily could have called me within that small four hour time frame if there was an issue. Next time Ill save myself the hassle and make a reservation with Monument Metals just an hour south. Only reason I tried Fredrick Coin is because I was impatient. So Im giving them only one star because not only did they try to charge me more, but they also easily could have called me to let me know that they would be changing what they had agreed to. Thats pretty unprofessional.Update: After my original experience, Fredrick Coin did call me back and honor their agreement they originally made. I changed my rating from 1 stat to 4 stars because of this. I do believe in making sure I changed my review since Fredrick honored theyre agreement after all.

Unfortunately, I have to give the Frederick Coin Exchange a 1-star review for a recent transaction. I will say that I have always been happy selling COINS and JEWELRY to the exchange itself.In early March of 2020, I took a stamp collection of my late grandfathers, which I was selling on behalf of my grandmother, in to the Frederick Coin Exchange to be appraised by their resident expert, Roger. I left my address, email, and phone number, and then heard nothing from them. I called once a couple months ago and was told that due to COVID-19, Roger was a bit behind. No problem.Today when I called, I was told that they had tried to reach me several times and that the stamp collection had been donated to the Boy Scouts due to a low valuation. I looked at the appraisal form which I had signed, and sure enough, this WAS part of the terms and conditions. However, I also noticed that someone had incorrectly written my phone number down on this form (I assume Roger, who filled the form out) so obviously any attempt to reach me would have failed. Im a bit disappointed, since the box with the collection itself had my address, email, and cell phone number clearly attached on a 3x5 card taped to the box itself.I wish someone had taken the time to send me an email before donating my grandmothers stamps to charity, especially if they did indeed make several attempts to reach me after a valuation was made. While the collection may not have been valuable, my aunts, who organized it with my late grandfather, might have appreciated having some of the stamps as mementos. At least the stamps went to a good cause (Boy Scouts), but the whole transaction leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I visited the Frederick Coin Exchange on Saturday. The service was average at least to me. The gentleman who waited on me did not seem to be enthusiastic about serving me. There was a gentleman there who seemed nice and quite enthusiastic, but he didnt wait on me. I have no reason to return to this facility. I will go back to the Gaithersburg exchange since they were quite helpful and seemed to be enthused about serving me.

This store asks for a deposit and lets customers pick up gold later. They cashed my check, moved store to another location and didn’t leave a message on the door or answered phone calls.After frantically locating them at their new location through a tip from their neighborhood store, I went to their new location to pick up my gold. The had the audacity to sell my gold coins to someone else and gave me some other gold in its place.Crooks! Should have called the cops for their dishonest way of doing business.

How our most recent visit (3rd thus far) differed most significantly from previous visits boiled down to timing. Like many other businesses during this time of the covidemic, this establishment requires appointments to be made prior to conducting business. While we had done so & were on time for our appointment, there were already at least two others waiting in queue prior to our arrival. Procedure-wise, everything was the same as before with the all too obvious exception of having had to wait a full hour prior to conducting the same basic transaction as previous visits. Not that we had to wait outside, but al least it wasnt an annoying weather day. So, other than the unanticipated wait, everything was just peachy.

Robbie provided me with very competitive buy prices for the pieces I brought in and did some researching into certain unique art deco pieces that I brought in and showed me what similar pieces were going for...very easy to deal with. Highly recommended.

My first time in today. Josh was fantastic to work with! Every other employee I met was courteous and professional. The store was very busy however they managed to keep people separated and maintain covid protocols. Despite being so busy I at no point ever felt rushed, even though we had tonnage of Wheaties and Buffaloes to slog through. Plus I felt like I got a fair deal. Josh paused when he found a key date explaining why something was worth more (or less), saying what they would retail it for and what they would buy it for. Please support this small business! This group goes above and beyond for your business. I walked in this store front on a whim to inquire about silver dollar books. Although they didnt have any new ones to sell, the employee I worked with had one with a few coins in it. He emptied it out and gave it to me for free! There isnt much to look at during COVID, but upon inquiry, they showed me two coins that I should consider for my next collection. We had a long discussion about these coins and, once I got home and did my own research, knew I found my coin shop. :) Im not local to Frederick but the drive is 100% worth it to work with people you can trust.

This was one of the most pleasant experiences Ive ever had in a retail setting. Everyone was pleasant and professional yet laid back and humorous. The place is very Pro-COVID. The staff was very polite and very attentive to the questions that my wife and I asked. Very clean and pleasant place. The person that helped us was both kind and knowledgable to us. She was patient with level of knowledge in coins. Great place. It was worth the 45 minute drive. I made and kept an appointment for Thursday Feb 4thWith the intention of buying silver knowing premiums are up. I am a repeat customer to this establishment.Bottom line American Eagles were 38$+ with a spot of 26.78$ at the time.Now I trust the Coin Exchange so I never haggle or compare shop knowing they will give me the best deal because I’m repeat customer. So I ended up buying 34 generic rounds I was told 34$ ea. I spent 1173$. Salesperson did not write single round price on invoice only total. Got home felt something mathematically was off. I was charge 34.50$ Wow surprised he did that to me.Because I explicitly ask CE price up front before deciding so I checked SD Buillion. Im a dummy!! 31$ because I bought over 20 rounds no tax in MD over 1000$. And free shipping. Basically 119$ more. I could have gotten 3 more rounds from SD same price. If the coin exchange is going to treat repeat customers this way what happens to 1st timers. Ok time for me to move on and find a local coin dealer who will treat me fairly. I thought I found one. Sorry I had to write this but got the invoice to prove it and the silver in my safe.Update::. As you can read Matt replied to my review. Received a call. I understand their is a lot of movement in silver at present. Simple math error not a spot increase in price. Frederick coin exchange made this right by mailing me two more one ounce silver rounds. First, let me say that I very seldom leave reviews of any kind. No matter how good or bad the service was that I received, just never really took to the time to do so. However, the experience that I had when I visited the Frederick Coin Exchange was EXCEPTIONAL. One could say that my rating was strictly based on the amount of money received after selling my items. True, I absolutely did receive more than I had expected. However, my satisfaction goes way beyond the monetary aspect of this transaction.From the first time that I communicated with Alexia via telephone and email, I felt comfortable. I could tell that they were not just out to get paid, but were REALLY making an effort to establish a relationship with their customers. I had to cancel/postpone/reschedule a few times, but that was never an issue for them. They politely and gladly continued to accommodate my request. Keep in mind that I live approximately an hour from their shop, but I just knew the travel would be well worth it.Once I arrived at the shop, Erica was there to greet me and again, make me feel as if my presence really mattered. Frederick Coin Exchange is a good place. I would recommend it as one place to check out if you are selling.Staff was friendly, professional, efficient and frank. All good.Only issue I have is price. They are certainly within the standard range.When selling to a retailer, one expects 20-40% off list as the offering. Frederick is closer to the 40%.I think if you do your research and are willing to take your collection around, so that you had a good basis for bargaining, they would have been willing to deal. They were quite generous with their time and expertise.

If you want genuine Gold or silver this should be your opinion. A little expensive but if you are spending thousands then few bucks for satisfaction doesnt matter.

In advance of my visit, I had spoken over the phone with Josh, who handled my sale. Josh was very knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service. He was very transparent about their pricing, which I considered fair (as well as higher than a nearby coin shop). I followed the pictorial guide on their website with recommendations for identifying and sorting my coins. This not only saved time in the store, it allowed me to obtain their best prices. Robbie, the store manager was also very knowledgeable about other coins and currency I brought in for evaluation. Had lots of coins to sell. Had the the coins for over 50 years and felt it was time to sell before it was too late. Kids weren’t interested in inheriting. Indian head & wheat pennies, silver dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars.... Also had two 2.5 gold dollars in excellent condition. While I didn’t get as much as I thought the collection was worth, they talked me through why they were offering a certain price and all and all I thought they treated me fairly and would recommend them to anyone looking to sell their collection.

Based on those my wife and I visited on Sep 27 to get an appraisal of my coin collection, which Ive had over 50+ years. We arrived at the center at its opening at 10 and was cordially greeted by Robbie, a long time member of the Exchange staff, who proceeded to help us personally for the next 4 hours. He provided a firsthand appraisal of everything we brought and made an associated offer to us. The overall environment at the Exchange was excellent, and the employees we met very courteous and professional.The end result was receiving what we considered was a generally fair offer for our entire collection, which we accepted and received before departing. Overall, it was a very satisfactory visit to a welcoming and efficient shop, facilitated by Robbies assistance. Would strongly recommend to anyone.

I was very pleased with the prompt service I received even though the shop was a bit busy. The gentleman who waited on me worked very quickly to evaluate the large number of coins I brought in, sorted them by category and displayed their offer price for each category. There was no pressure to sell but since the offers were competitive with or superior to other dealers, I sold everything on the spot, including some foreign coins and currency.

I am in my eighties and had no idea what I was doing!! Josh was EXTREMELY HELPFUL, explained exactly what I needed to know. He went through all peaces of flatware as well as some pieces I thought where not sterling and he was able to pick out those peaces that where sterling.The company is very fortunate to have Josh as an employ. Excellent professional experience. They went through a whole box of coins for me during a busy time in the store. You take a number and they get to you in order. I did a little research ahead of time, and I think they were very fair. Certainly going in person saves the risk and expense of shipping, and I felt like they were much more honest than going to a coin show and trying to sell to someone I dont know who Ill never see again. Having a physical shop with a history means a lot.
