Apparently the only shop in Phoenix Metro that will bend your travel trailer axle tubes. Ever since Arizona axle products retired I have been in a pickle for trailer alignment.Spectrac, is the bomb. I made an appointment two weeks out arrived early and was greeted promptly. The staff was friendly and courteous, we discussed my situation, and by 11:00 a.m. I was on the road straight as an arrow no longer worried about blowing tires. These guys are definitely worth the price which was fair and the drive which was long I will be back.

These guys are really great, they did amazing work for us. Returned from a cross country trip with uneven wear on one of our four trailer tires. They properly diagnosed it as a faulty axle. We werent thinking at the time it would be warrantied but hoped for the best. Spectrac reached out to Dexter on our behalf, got axles replaced at no cost to us, as well as half the labor for installation! Also managed to squeeze in the installation in about 24 hours after they received the axles. Thanks to them well be able to keep our next park reservation. Great workmanship and customer service.

Terrible service. I ordered a part from here last Tuesday instead of from another local business because Spectrac told me they could have it by last Thursday or Friday at the latest. It’s now Monday and still no part. When I called this morning they told me between 12-1 today and when I called back at 2 no one had answers of when it’s going to be delivered. This is holding up a truck from working. Will not be a returning customer.

Spectrac has always been a go to place for me to buy repair items for my trucks and trailers. I received some of the best service the other day from Branden Gaustad. He was just EXTREMELY helpful and even though I messed up a part, he made sure that I got taken care of. I would love to have 100 of Brandens in my company. Great to work with the knowledgeable and professional staff at Spectrac! With my trailer suspension, brakes, and bearings in need of rebuild in Mexico, they were able to verify all parts needed were in stock and ready to pick up at my leisure. As a retired mechanic, I appreciate the value of parts pros who can get the job done right the first time. One trip there and i had everything in-hand to do the work. You just can’t replicate good service with online vendors!

Spectrac does what’s right! We purchased a replacement rear axle for our tandem axel flatbed trailer from Spectrac. Once we installed it at home we noticed the tires stuck out an extra inch on both sides than the front axel. We talked to Spectrac and they said they would make it right, and they did! They discovered the axel was incorrectly marked so they not only got the right axel, but they removed the wrong axel and installed the right axel free of charge with all new hardware. Spectrac is a company that stands behind their product and does the right thing for their customers. For any suspension needs, I will be retuning to Spectrac and recommending to anybody who asks.

I would never recommend this shop to anyone. Do not drop your trailer off to get a quote. Spectrac will charge you 130$+ just to pick it up after giving you a ridiculous quote. Straight line suspension over on main and gilbert charged me 835$ to replace a torsion axle that would have costs me over 2800$ here.Straightline did not pay me to say this, im just an average guy just trying to get his trailer fixed.

I was changing the axle on my jetski trailer. I used the Spectrac before and was always impressed by how friendly and professional is everyone working in this shop. Every representative I worked with went far beyond his normal duties to explain and show and answer any question that I ever had. Today I dropped the axle to get the spring seats welded on. Was told to come in after lunch. When I showed up the axle was not finished but the representative apologized and immediately got it worked on. To my great surprise he told me that this job was on the house and despite my repeated offers to pay, he refused to take a penny. Guess where am I going back for any trailer needs?

Set an appointment a week in advance only to show up and be told it will be several days before anyone can get to it. What is the point of an appointment if its going to sit in your lot for several days? I asked if I could set an appointment for the day they can actually work on it and was told it wouldnt be for some time. Complete waste of my time and the guy was pretty rude as well. The signage is confusing and he acted like I was supposed to know where to go since the office was closed. I feel like my small job was pushed out for larger jobs. Pretty disappointing to find a business ran this way. Anyway I found another shop and they helped me out right away!

I am so grateful to have been referred to Spectrac by another mechanic who spotted serious problems with my tiny camper. I showed up there on a Friday afternoon shortly before their closing time, ready to drop off the camper so that they could fix it when they had an opening. This would have required an additional 3-hour drive on my part, but the camper was unsafe to take on the road. Some of the welds had failed, and with one more hard bounce, the axle could easily have come off, going down the road on its own behind me. This could have been fatal to anyone driving behind me.The main welders had already left for the day, locking up all of the welding equipment. One of the employees (wish Id gotten his name) agreed to work on it anyway so that I could safely take it with me.It took him a while to get all of the welding tools back out, and then he quickly got to work. I had my dog with me and I couldnt just leave her in my vehicle in the 100+ degree heat while the unexpected repairs were completed, so I left the doors open and sat on the SUV (camper still attached) while he worked. What initially appeared to be a 30-minute job turned into a 2-hour project. He kept finding more weld problems, and patiently showed them to me and explained them. Some mechanics take advantage of women who know little about such things, but that was not the case with this young man. I felt confident that he would get my camper back on the road in greatly improved condition, and thats exactly what he did.He even aired up the spare tire that was mounted under the camper. I had asked the guys at Discount Tire to do that earlier in the day when I had the camper there for new tires. They didnt bother, because the valve stem was not facing down and I guess they couldnt spare the few minutes required to take it off (thus losing my repeat business). That didnt deter the young man at Spectrac. He went WAY above and beyond expectations. I am especially grateful that he was willing to stay so late on a Friday to help me out.My bill was just under $100. The welds on the underside are in far, far better shape than they were when I bought it 3 years ago. I will definitely be taking it back to Spectrac for annual inspections as well as repairs when needed. As I was getting ready to leave, the parts manager noticed that a bulb was out on one of the camper tail lights. He quickly replaced it before I hit the road. Again, above and beyond expectations. Thanks, Spectrac guys, for doing such an outstanding job for me. Ill be back!

Review №77

Do not take a small camper there that has a small problem, its not worth their time to do a $300 job, so they will lie to you and jack up the price. So disappointed to be lied to by their service rep. I had an issue with the brakes on my pop up camper so I took it in. I just wanted to get a professional to do the work instead of doing it myself. I dropped of my camper on a Monday morning first thing and they guy said they would check it out and call me back later that day or the next morning. I heard nothing until I called back Tuesday afternoon and the guy said he was putting together numbers for me and would call me back in a little while. I didnt hear from him until the next day. He called and said the repair man couldnt get the brakes to engage and the coupler needed to be replaced and there was rust all the way througout the brake lines. I also needed to replace the drums. He said I would be better off switching to electric brakes ( I currently have surge brakes). He gave me a quote of about $1,000 for switching to electric including installing a brake controller in my truck. I asked what the cost would be to just fix the brakes and leave them as surge, he didnt have a price. A few hours later he called back and it would be about $1,000 to fix the surge brakes. I wasnt ready for that kind of price so I said I would come pick it up. When I got there I had the service rep show me what was wrong and go over it with me. I asked about just replacing the broken parts on the coupler and he said (and I quote) they dont make replacement parts for this coupler. I thought that was odd since Ive seen replacement parts for couplers. He told me the service tech couldnt get the brakes to engage at all, so I asked if the orifice was clogged and thats why the brakes wouldnt engage, he said the tech didnt look at it. So after that asked where he opened the lines to see that there was rust all the way through, he said the tech opened one of the bleeders and thats where he saw it. I asked if the wheel cylinders were working correctly and he said it wasnt written down. Im pretty sure the service tech didnt even take off either wheel to inspect the drum brakes. Anyways, I took it home and decided to give it a look. I couldnt get the brakes to engage either and it seemed to be stopped by the brake master cylinder, so I took it out. Sure enough the piston in the cylinder was frozen and thats why they wouldnt engage. So I went online, found an OEM replacement and it was delivered to my door that day for $45 and I had it installed in 15 minutes. So they dont make replacement parts for this coupler huh? LIE! Next I opened the bleeders on the drums to check the fluid, nothing came out. I tracked down a couple clogs in the lines and blew them out. So there was no way the service tech got brake fluid out of one of the wheels to see there was rust in the lines. Total BS. I took the brake lines out of the wheel cylinder and rust had not made it that far, again LIE! So they charged my $95 for one hour of service checking the brakes, when he probably spent about 15 minutes. They also tried to charge me an extra half hour of service looking over the suspension. I never asked for them to look at the suspension and to top it off, I dont have leaf springs on my pop up so there is nothing to check. Eff this place. Im sure they do quality work, but diagnosing an easy fix wont happen. $45 part vs replacing the entire brake system for $1,000.Response to owner: If my coupler was so damaged that it would be unsafe, why did your service rep tell me that if I switched to electric brakes, they would leave the coupler on and disable the brakes on it and not have to replace it? he said they would only need to replace it if I wanted to repair the surge brakes. Caught you lying again! Your repair estimate was worst case scenario? I was told all that needed to be replaced, not if it needed replacing. Isnt that why I paid for a brake check? To review all parts?

Promises and excuses rule. I went there because they are the factory rep for my Dexter axles. The work area looked cluttered and the service desk was in disarray . After parts arrived I have been getting they are working on it now statuses and will surely be ready today. In fairness, their manager had apparently quit the day before I arrived but a week later they still seem to not know what is going on in the shop. Hoping for a good outcome on the work, whenever they finish.Well they did finish and things seem to have settled down in service. I am satisfied with the work. I questioned the brake settings and the technician took extra time to re-assure me and to encourage my return if not satisfied after a little use. Up to 4 stars.

Tl;dr - Make promises they cant keep, dont inform you if something goes wrong, implying poor attention to detail? The gory details - I went to Spectrac for a quote on replacing the torsion suspension on my new-to-me fifth wheel with a heavier duty leaf-spring suspension system. (As a full-timer, I would prefer the easier-to-repair leaf spring system over being stuck for two weeks in the middle of nowhere waiting on an emergency repair.) After a second business told me that that change would be more trouble than it was worth, due to the torsion systems smaller subframe as well as the location of the septic on the trailer, I called Corey (who had signed off on the original estimate) to ask him if they had considered those issues - I certainly hadnt seen anyone at Spectrac pull out a tape measure while I was there, unlike at the other business - and he assured me that they did all sorts of suspension work, and they could do it. So, I made the appointment with them.A day after I dropped off my trailer, I got a call. Apparently, the subframe was too small, and the septic release was placed in such a way that prevented them from expanding it. Who knew?! Well, at this point I had three weeks until I needed to leave for my next work place - not enough time to make an appointment to get the work done elsewhere, but simply upgrading the existing torsion system should have been a lot easier, right? So I agreed to bring in my home the next week to get that done before I tried to bounce my not-quite-overloaded axles 1800 miles down the highway.I put a down payment on the parts so they could get the system built before I got there, in order to speed up the job. I dropped off my trailer on Tuesday, hoping to get a call on Wednesday, expecting to hear from them on Thursday. I called them Friday morning, and found out my trailer still wasnt finished. They told me one of the parts failed at the start of installation, and they were having a hard time finding a replacement. At no time had they tried to contact me to let me know they had run into a problem, and get my input into how I wanted to proceed, despite my having been very clear with them that during this process I was being displaced out of my house, and therefore wanted to minimize the amount of time my trailer spent in the shop. The only silver lining to this is that they did not actually do any work on my trailer. Other than take off the wheels. Hopefully they didnt mess that up too, and it has no effect on my next road trip. The icing on the cake: When I went to pick up my fifth wheel the landing gear had been retracted entirely into the trailer, with the legs dropped all the way to the ground, so I was unable to pull my landing gear up enough to get the weight of the trailer onto my truck. One of their fifth wheel forklifts was able to fix that easily enough, but it certainly helped cement my view of the business.
