Bought our 2nd car from CarMax. Smooth transaction both times. Higher buyback price that Carvana was going to pay on our previous car! Nice cars available. Don’t like the shipping cost but my car came in from Tennessee for $200. They should cover that cost as much money as they make. Other than that, I would buy from CarMax again!
My experience was great. I went on a super busy Saturday and had to wait a while for someone to be able to help me. It was so worth the wait! Megan S did a great job assisting me and she was so patient. I absolutely love my new Rav4.
I met the most friendly staff at Carmax on Lauren Rd. Patrica & Kevin, they both handled themselves professionally and courteous towards me, with acknowledgement of the whole time of waiting, it wasnt badly as they thought it would be because I kept myself occupied until it was my turn. But the both of them showed great customer service and I appreciate the team effort of seeing that I was taking care of while as busy as it was for a busy Saturday.
After the trouble I had gone through of finding a mechanic to fix my Dart. I was offered $2,600 online for it and I traded it in for something more reliable. Alex the sales rep was awesome through out the process of helping me find something within my budget and ended up with a 2013 Ford Focus.And believe me I didnt want to give up my Dart but something inside me was telling me something was not right with the Engine. I highly Recommend Alex to help anyone who needs a car.
Car Max mad me such a good offer yhat I did sell my vehicle to you. The experience was unique and fairly simple. The dealership was quite busy that day but your employees showed a willingness to get the deal done. The only negative was the time to close the deal but I attribute that to the amount of people at that location. Enjoyed the whole process and thank you for the offer.
Buying the car was good experience, but I noticed afterwards that one tire had a large gash in the sidewall. I took it back to have a new tire put on, but I was told by the manager that it was not bad enough to need replacing. He said he would let his wife or son drive the car with that problem. I had previously stopped at my local tire store to ask there opinion, and they said it was dangerous to drive with that tire that way. When I told the manager that I had my local tire store to look at it he said well there in the business of selling tires....Anyway Im not risking my wifes life on a manager that thinks his family is worth risking their lives, I bought a new tire for the car. Was that really to much too ask on a $31000.00 car? I dont think so....
The window sticker listed features on the car and once I got it home and as I was trying to find all the features, I realized they werent on the car. After going back to the dealership and talking with them they said there was nothing they could do and they would bit alter the asking price! Said that was what they would have asked for the car no matter if the features were on there or not!! Crock of s$;t
From the moment I stepped in the door, it was a great experience. I was greeted immediately. Shown where to sit, was seen by a rep within a reasonable time, got a very fair offer and was out the door within their estimated 60-90 minutes.
Just as I needed, No haggling on price. My purchase was cash out the door. Only 1 complaint, CarMax should allow 14 or 30 days post purchase to buy any extended protection plans they offer. Otherwise everything was smooth and Im enjoying my new car!

Carmax made selling my car 1000 times easier than I expected it to be. After spending less than 10 minutes entering information online about the condition of my car, I was given an instant cash offer that was good for at least a week. I made an appointment online right when I got the offer. When I got to my appointment I waited about 10-15 minutes for them to examine my car, then filled out minimal paperwork and got a check for the amount they had offered me online. The whole process took maybe an hour and everything was done- I didn’t have to come back later with the car or get any new documentation. They took my car and I walked out with a check. It was amazingly easy and I would recommend it to anyone who has been dreading selling a car because it was so easy and painless. Thank you so much for your help!!
I purchased a car from the Greenville store in April, it is now October and I have still not received my paperwork so I can get my car registered in my name. I have called 47 times to Greenville and 9 times to check corporate office in Richmond Virginia and not once has anyone ever called me back the only thing they can say is they are trying to get another copy of the title and paperwork to resend to me. Horrible customer service from the business department.

I had a car on hold for test drive and I was likely going to purchase it, but one of their salespeople took the car from me off hold and gave it to someone else. I spoke to a customer service rep who said it happens more times than he likes. Thats pretty shocking. They make it pretty clear on their website that a car is off limits when it is put on hold, but clearly that is not true. Im sure they dont care, but I cant use or recommend Carmax anymore.
I had a car transferred from FL. I visited the Carmax in Greenville to look at it. The car needed tires, rotors, brakes, cleaning on the outside and inside. The filters needed to be replaced. There was also a tear in the back seat. I mentioned these things to rep which mentioned it to the techs but they didnt want to replace anything. I which I could receive my transfer fee back since they dont want to fix anything. Had the nerve say they will clean the inside if I buy it. What? It should presentable in the first place!
I guess I did not get.the greatest of sales associates... I bought my car with no help other than pointing where to sign. We did not discuss options or any vehicle information. Then my car tag was taken off but went ahead and put me down to buy a new 1 why ...? It was a hassle to be what shouldve been a easy car purchase since I found it online and had it delivered to store. Before leaving with my purchase we have to do safety check. Funny how I left and my reverse light was blown 🤔. Good luck for her new customers.

This is specifically regarding the Greenville, SC location and not necessarily CarMax in general (I had twice purchased vehicles previously at my hometown CarMax in Knoxville, TN and both had been positive experiences. This time I drove 3 hours for a specific vehicle I had held online rather than have to pay the transfer fee to Tennessee. I had made an appointment to test drive the reserved car, gotten an online offer on my trade-in, and came with a cash down payment and approved financing from my bank for more than the cost of the car. There was nothing to hold up the process. I came prepared.Yet, the experience took more than 4 hours from arrival to purchase (the first 45 minutes was waiting for them to FIND the car on the lot, despite having an appointment and a reservation. They had even confirmed it all the day before...and then could not find the car). The rest of the process was painfully slow even though the store was not very busy at the time. Several times I had to hunt someone down to find out why I had to keep waiting. No matter my question, the usual response was Itll be a few more minutes. I even saw 2 other couple leave after waiting for too long without being properly taken care of.Although the poor customer service and general disinterest in the clients by the staff (many of whom spent the afternoon standing around chatting in huddles or browsing their phones with feet kicked up on desks) had sucked all the usual joy out of getting a new car, I was happy when I was finally able to get back on the road with my latest vehicle.Not far north of Greenville, I ran into an intense rain storm and discovered a timing issue with the wipers which caused them to jam, making driving unsafe. I immediately pulled over and called the Greenville store for a solution. After explaining the problem, I was put on hold for 25 minutes and then was told the service techs were all gone home and given three options: get the car towed back to Greenville and they would look at it the next morning; stop at a Wal-Mart and get some new blades; or wait out the storm and try to get to Tennessee.I explained that option 2 would not help because it was a timing issue and not just replacing the blades, and that option 3 could be dangerous if I hit more rain (especially going over the Smoky Mountains). I said I would have to go with option 1, but because I was not local I would need a loaner or rental car to get back to Tennessee. Someone named Rob (who I assume was a manager or supervisor - and didnt seem to really care that I was potentially stranded almost 3 hours from home at night in a car I had just purchased) said he could/would not help me with a loaner or a rental and suggested that maybe I find a hotel. His only help was having the Knoxville store call me.After more than an hour of sitting on the side of the road, luckily the storm cleared enough that I chanced getting back to Tennessee. Even more luckily, I made it home safely. But not without a lot of stress and ill feelings that could have been avoided if the Greenville staff had shown even an ounce of concern or took customer care seriously.Ironically, the CarMax motto above the service door reads: Welcome to the way service should be. (see photo) Really, thats the way it should be, Greenville CarMax? I dont think so.
I just bought an f-150 two weeks ago. The online portion as well as the agent was outstanding and he even detailed the truck while I was at the signing table. The only problem has been that the license plate hasn’t arrived yet and it was ordered during signing. The first vehicle I bought from CarMax was easy too. The plate for that vehicle arrived within a week.
Everyone is friendly and easy to talk to. While sometimes the process is long its simple to go through when you have all the paperwork. They clean the cars best they can, its not perfect no but they try there hardest. They have a variety of cars, vans, SUVs and much more to choose from. They will work with you to get the car you want/ need. When I finish paying my car off in a few years, I know where Ill come back to get another. Better than any named dealership.

The salesperson was polite and knowledgeable. I love the car. My issue is that I had was the keys. It’s supposed to be a keyless entry but they gave me keys that have no buttons for that. I’ve called twice to get the other ones and am hoping to hear back from them.I also didn’t receive a manual with the car and have had to order one. (It cane with a Quick Users Guide that refers me to the owner’s manual several times)So I don’t know how to work several features of the car. CARMAX said they will reimburse me for the cost of the manual up to $200, which is fine. I do wish the car had come with the manual though. That seems basic to me

For the most part, everything was excellent. The only odd thing was that I left registration and keys on the front seat after I was told where to park the car. Then when the lady asked me for the registration, I went out to the car and it had been moved. I told the lady it had been moved and she said it had not. She asked me for the keys, I said whoever moved it must have them. She asked me for the registration, I told her it was in the car. Oddly, she insisted none of that happened. She firmly stood her ground. That is until someone came in and handed her the keys and told her they moved it. She still insisted they would never have touched the registration on the seat. But, a couple hours later, as I was leaving I saw my registration on her desk. Hmmmm? By that point we had already called another store and got the information she needed. With all this being said, it was a very easy transaction and I am pleased.
Went with a friend to get a quote on a truck she wanted to sell... The people were quick to greet us and get the process started. After a short visit to answer basic questions about the vehicle, the guys outside did their inspection and test drive. In about 20 minutes we had the results with a quote that was good for a week. Very smooth operation and if we had been interested in buying they had plenty of options onsite with a lot more online that could be shipped in.

This was my first experience with Carmax ( Greenville) and I have to say every employee I came in contact with was professional, knowledgeable and kind. My first salesman Tom was a perfect fit for me, I had a Lincoln SUV brought in and though I bought it, I didnt love it. The day after I made my purchase I saw another Lincoln SUV online so I had that one brought in. Tom had moved on in the week between the two purchases and now I had Stacy to deal with. Well how lucky was I to hit it out of the park again with my sales person! For a return and new finance purchase the whole transaction was painless ( unlike my fall last week but thats another story) fairly quick and I have the car of my dreams. Dont let anyone tell you a bank has a better rate, I actually did better with Carmax financing! Kudos to you Stacey!, as well as Tom A. and Allison and Tina!

So I went there and one hour after I was outside already with my check. It was really fast and smooth. I will highly recomment it
Normally there service department is extremely nice. Especially Sanchez who normally is the one that helps, but tonight i watched 3 women look at me stand at the service desk after hours and never once asked if I needed it help. I had then asked an associate walking back in can someone check me out. This is where they then advised I had to come into inside because the area I was in was closed. I will say Adrienne did finally if someone had helped and had polite conversation with me. While the other 3 ladies continued to ignore me.
The best place to give you the best price for your vehicle. We have bought and sold 4 vehicles here over the years and have always received the best price and the best vehicle for the money. Never been disappointed.
The online experience allowed me to find the exact vehicle was looking for all over the country. I was able to easily schedule a transfer and pay the transfer fee to my local CarMax. From there communication was great and the vehicle was as expected from the images and 360 view on the website. I was fully satisfied with the vehicle and purchased it on site. I had previously applied for the loan online before going to the store. So the purchase process was extremely efficient and I was able to drive off the lot within an hour of my test drive. Absolutely loved the the entire process.

Accepted a great deal from CarMax yesterday for my mothers 2019 Ford Mustang that will help get her settled into a new nursing facility that can provide for her needs while her other estate assets are liquidated. Its always a tough but necessary task for those who end up needing twenty-four hour a day care!

We recently purchased my son’s first car from Car Max. I was very skeptical but after researching & comparing used car dealers, it was clear that Car Max offers far more than most others. They were so amazing with us ordering a car, having it transferred in and then changing our minds. We ordered something else we found, a much better option & had that transferred in. Never any hassle or issue with the transfers. Which in my opinion is a huge plus, as you can find vehicles from literally anywhere and have it shipped in for $200 or a bit more.He was preapproved for financing and when we went to purchase the car, everything was just as we expected. There were absolutely NO surprises, no hidden fees, no extra charges, nothing. That was a first in my car buying experience. They were very patient with my son as they had to clear some hurdles with him just moving here and not having a SC license. Every person we ever spoke with there always gave us the same information, everyone knew what everyone else had done and said, it was a seamless, easy process.I’m so happy that his first car buying experience was this amazing. Sara,the rep we worked with was horrible. I had to call corporate and my issues still aren’t fixed. She messed up my paperwork (wrote in the VIN number and year wrong) then refused to process the sale after I fixed her mistake. She wanted us to come back the next day and do the appraisal all over again. This was my third trip there as it was due to their mistakes. If I had not called corporate her mistake would have cost my well over $600 . I already had lost $600 on it from driving back and forth to carmax. She also kept all my paperwork and wouldn’t give it back so we could leave. She kept it so we would have to come back. Corporate still hasn’t gotten back to me about the paperwork and the $600 she cost me. This was the worst call selling experience I have ever had. I do NOT recommend Carmax.
I went to the Carmax in Greenville just to see about trading my car in and getting a truck. I was very pleased with the guy who helped me with my appraisal. Although it did take about an hour to get that process complete, I was satisfied there. They had a wait to get help with a new vehicle which I understand because of volume and possible short staff. The reason I am not giving three stars is because I decided to shop online at Carmax and chose a vehicle that was actually located at Greenville Carmax. Someone named Dominique called me back and ran through the finance process with me. She did not seem very knowledgable of what she was doing and wound up running my credit with the wrong information regarding down payment and my trade in amount. This meant she had to run my credit again. She said the trade in amount would take a day to get back so I should hear by the next day. She had let me know the approval amounts when the information was incorrectly entered and I had told her I was not satisfied with the interest rates. The next day. I was called by someone else who was confirming my appointment to test drive and buy the vehicle. I had never been informed of an appointment so this was news to me. I let the woman know that I was waiting to hear about the interest rates with my correct information entered and she said there was no record of anything I was speaking about. I thought it was strange that she would have the car I was looking into but no information regarding what I had spoken to Dominique about? Either way. I have never went through Carmax but I can say that it seems to me that this is a much less personal experience of buying a car than going to a dealership. Not saying that is a bad thing, but it does not seem like they are looking to help you get the best deals just as a large retailer would not help you in that way. So my takeaway is for me, I think although it can be annoying the way salesmen at dealerships are kind of in your face about getting you a car, it is better than having people genuinely not seem to care about assisting you.

I am really upset I was trying to help a friend get a car. It was approved but we did everything on the phone and because I work all the time and I could not get there. My friend got another friend to help him. But the run my credit some many times I lost 9 points on my credit. I have been trying for four day to call the 1-800-number but no one will answer so I am calling a lawyer and better Bussiness today

Been trying to reach the Greenville SC location for months now for any kind of service and maintenance (including a recall notice) to be completely for my car. But at this point, Im defeated. No one answers when I dial the line and press 4 for the service department. I leave a voicemail like Im instructed and no one calls back from the service department. When I chat with support on the website they say Take it to the next closest location which is two hours away and not feasible... I thought purchasing from CarMax would bring some peace of mind for maybe not affordability but convenience, but I was sorely mistaken. The only thing CarMax offers me is pain and an extremely high APR.
They put old tires on my car after we bought it cash… all because we didn’t have a need to finance through them other than that the car works great and my wife loves it

They give you 20% less for trade ins then anyone. They were founded on fair values on buy and sell, but have fallen far from that position. Everywhere else offered me 2 to 3k more for same cars on multiple occasions. I used to belive in them and utilize them a lot. I never will again.
Bill Strange made things very easy and was very professional. My daughter and I showed up very late on a Saturday afternoon and within a couple of hours had our car purchased, financed, and were walking out the door.
Salesman was nice and up front about things. Didn’t try to coerce me a different way. But I was told the car hadn’t been crashed and it clearly has been repaired on the front. It was a rainy day when I purchased the vehicle so I could not really see it well. But once the sun was out you can definitely tell it has been repaired at some point.
Purchased my truck from CarMax last month; brought it back a few times while under the initial purchase 45-day warranty, and Joe A. in the Service Dept provided necessary updates and was transparent with me during the repair processes. They even provided a loaner vehicle for a day while they fixed the issues. Big thanks to Miss Ivy (I apologize if I misspelled your name) and Mr. Joe for helping make sure my used vehicle operated like it was brand new when I got it home. Customer service better than many big dealerships, greatly appreciate it!
Overall, great experience. Only thing that was an issue was that it took around 3 hours to get everything done. I did majority over the phone/online but it seems the information was not routed correctly once I had my in person visit. But I would def recommend carmax and I would def buy again
Made an appointment online to test drive a Santa Fe. When we got there we met with Ben Mozingo. Really nice and helpful. Not pushy at all!!! Drove the car and loved it. Came back in and Ben made the whole process easy. We would definitely recommend CarMax and Ben.

Everything went very smoothly with multiple very helpful people throughout the transfer of my car from Buffelo through the sales experience at CarMax in Greenville. That part gets 5 stars. The remainder follow-up from the business office was far less satisfactory. It took 19 days for me to recieve the follow-up paperwork to take to NC DMV to arrange my title, registration, and tag. Much worse, I had said over and over that I wanted the car titled to my Trust and not just my name but that isnt how it was done. Since the paperwork all just gave my name NC DMV could only title it that way and that is my reason for the lower rating. (DMV did say that after I actually receive my title I can then have it transferred to my trust for an additional $73 payment but that is maddening after all the effort I put in trying to get it done right in Greenville,)
I couldnt be happier with my car buying experience at CarMax. From the moment I found my car, located several states away, to the moment I drove off the CarMax lot I felt like I was more than just another sale. It was quick and painless to ship my car to my nearest CarMax location. Then, when my car arrived, it took less than an hour to complete the financing paperwork and drive off in my new-to-me car. The CarMax warranty was the extra icing on the cake for ownership piece of mind. Ill never buy a used car from anywhere else again!

I have bought 4 vehicles from CarMax Greenville in the last few years (I used to love them). But after this experience, I will never go back.Its a long story so I wont bore you with all the details but heres the summary.1) They sold me a vehicle that they didnt have the title to, so the sale couldnt be finalized with the DMV and I couldnt get a license plate.2) Didnt do anything to fix it for months.3) Told me the solution in the meantime was to drive with an expired temporary tag. In other words, Im supposed to break the law because they didnt do their job!During the many phone calls and visits to the store I had to go through in order to finally get the issue resolved, their standard operating procedure was:a) telling you theyre going to do something and then not doing it,b) telling you they will call you back and never calling back, andc) flat out lying that they have already done something which you find out later was never done.The worst customer service I have ever experienced, and I wouldnt trust a thing they tell you.
Edwin at the Greenville SC location was my Sales Representative. He was amazing. I traded a vehicle for another and Edwin did everything he could to make the process as seamless as possible. I appreciate his assistance.

CarMax is wonderful! From the time that you walk in the door, you are greeted and told what your wait time would be and offer you an opportunity to look at selections on the lot or online. I was totally impressed with the number of vehicles they have for you to look at. The sales agent was very cordial and accommodating. She (Nicole) was very attentive to our needs and explained many options.
