We wanted to take some time and make this post about Ben from the AAMCO in Hackettstown NJ and his services. He is the HONEST person, if ever you need any help with your vehicle please go see him. His attention to detail and great communication skills put ease into our situation. We wont hesitate to bring future clients to this establishment. Its a very positive organize, and welcome environment. Our HRV is running better than it has in a while, and we give credit to BEN. We will recommend his business to others in the future, and of course, we will return to him in the future. We recommend BEN to train employees at a cooperate level. My engine overheated and the three dealerships I called prior to bringing my car to Aamco were unable to provide me with immediate service. This company not only took my car the same day they were able to repair it within twenty four hours and for a very reasonable price.

My first time but wont be my last! Completely professional and honest business! My check engine light came on and started to over heat last night. Caused complete worry to say the least, I explained my situation, they conducted a thorough check and determined it was no need for alarm! They could have overcharged me running unnecessary test but stated they were not necessary! UPDATE: I had to bring the car back due to the same problem and like before they took their time, examined the issue and found it needed a new head gasket. I found a $20 coupon online but they offered a $50 coupon! Who could beat that! I appreciate honest businesses especially in a pandemic when money is tight! I highly recommend this business! Having to get 4 new brakes - pads and rotors - is never fun. The staff at AAMCO in Hackettstown really made the experience not only bearable, but actually really pleasant. Their prices are unbeatable. That being said, I hadnt budgeted for 4 new brakes. But, they worked with me as far as payment. They were so kind, understanding, and honest with me about what I needed. My car is driving like new. I will no longer go anywhere else for my automotive needs, as no one else in the area compares!

I have a work truck that was in bad shape, the trans and engine needed serious attention and I still had to pay every month but couldnt drive it. I took a chance and stopped in and spoke to them about my problem. At that point we set up an appointment and they gave me a fair estimate. We went forward. I thought i wouldnt see the truck for weeks. I dont think it took a week and they were on the phone with me letting me know it was done. When I picked up the vehicle it ran great all issues were gone. These guys really know there stuff. I was in the auto repair business for many years and know when someone is unqualified. I have a Toyota Prius with high miles. 200k+. Car runs great. All of a sudden it was making noise when I turned on the air conditioner. I bought it to the dealer service DEPT and they gave me an estimate for $4500. They stated my car needed a new a/c compressor for $2600 and a whole bunch of other work for a grand total of $4500. I told them I didn’t understand since my a/c still had cold air. I had Toyota fix only a heat shield that was loose and brought my car to Mark and Ben at Aamco for a second opinion. Turns out my compressor was totally fine and also all the other work unnecessary. Total cost $101.00 For an oil change and tire rotation. Turns out that the “compressor noise” was really a loose heat shield. I can’t thank the guys at Aamco enough for being straight shooters.

They did a great a job with my oil change AND when i got there i noticed slight bumper damage and unhinged. They fixed it so good that when I took it to Honda later that week for a possible bumper replacement, I was told there was no need as they fixed it just as Honda would have.

They worked with me and the originating store to reach a fair arrangement. When I left, transmission was working better than I had ever seen it. Had some symptoms a day later (common - residual sludge from prior issue), and I was a couple hours away. They guessed at the correct diagnosis and worked with me by phone to resolve. Turnaround a day slower than initially promised, but given the intershop communications, not out of line. Thank you!!

I needed a timeing belt for my car. Just general maintainence for the amount of miles. I researched what it would entail and typical cost. I had TWO mechanics give me prices and turn around time. Both mechanics gave me prices for a timing belt both never mentioned that I should replace the water pump as well. I knew the water pump was generally part of changing the belt. I felt both mechanics were giving me a lesser price to get my business. In turn they would call me once they had the car to tell me I needed a water pump. I knew their prices were low ball.Based on the awesome reviews Aamco has on this site, I called. When I spoke to Ben he was precise about the parts I needed. He was confident that I would have my car back quickly. He was honest about having to look at the car to determine if he could save me some money. (A timing belt kit is not cheap). The car was completed within 24hours as promised. Ben saved me $75 by taking the time to research my engine specs. I can honestly say, I have never had such professional service and have never been so happy with the outcome! I love my car and now I found mechanics that I feel comfortable using and trust!

Had some leaky valve covers causing my wires and spark plugs to be soaked in oil. They fixed it right up and car runs better than ever. Fair price and friendly staff. It should be noted I had a minor issue when they returned the car to me which seems like a negative. However, they were really understanding and made a quick adjustment the next day and problem was mitigated in 15-20 mins with no extra charge. As long as I live around here I will trustingly take my vehicle there.

DONT GO THERE!Worst place ever. Cannot reach them by telephone during business hours - you get an answering machine. Business is listed on one street but theres no access - you have to go all the way around to the opposite side of the building to find them which the access is on a different street than their advertised address which ads to the confusion. Booked appointment online and when I got there on time (10 minutes early), they had NO RECORD of my appointment so had to go through all the information which I had already input online the day before. I asked how much it would cost - THREE TIMES and never got an answer. Instead, I got a lecture on - Most of the time this will improve your car. But there have been times where us doing this service to your car MAKES IT WORSE. My question is - then why would I do it? Meanwhile after three times asking how much it would cost I was NEVER given an answer and even though I HAD AN APPOINTMENT, I was told - oh, they wont be starting your car for an additional 25 minutes because theyre on a half hour break. (mind you, it was not lunch time.) And also - they take breaks at various times (so no way to book an appointment to account for / avoid their break time.) LOSER. I could not get out of there fast enough! NEVER again - EVER. So glad I got up early and drove TWENTY MILES to go to this place - which is a disorganized LOSER(S). If I could give zero stars, I would.

I did not have an appointment but they took my car and evaluated the problem. Turned out to be a transmission seal, and they had to obtain the seal from a different supplier. They fixed the car the next day and took it for a test drive. The car is noticeably better.What impressed me most was their honesty and fair pricing. I brought my car in for an oil change and to have the coolant checked since I had a warning light come on. I was pleased to find that as part of that service, they top off all fluids and check everything. I was happy to not be presented with a laundry list of things I should do...that always feels like Im being taken.What impressed me the most was their attention to detail...they reset my service reminder, which I could never figure out how to reset no matter how many youtube videos I watched :). They also put a reminder sticker in my car that is printed on a computer so I can actually read it and it doesnt fade with time. Its the little things...My car was ready when they said it would be and I received updates. All this for just an oil change.I will be going there for future service on my car.

We had a great experience at AAMCO in Hackettstown. From the phone conversation to the diagnostic, I had a good vibe from the owner Mark. He seemed very honest and straightforward and really seemed to have the customers best interest at heart, which is so rare these days. I have a mechanical background, but tranny work is past my area of expertise. I was happy that they didnt add a bunch of things that I didnt really need and only told me what needed to be done to fix the problem. They pinpointed the exact problem and we are very pleased with the results. My truck is running great!!

I had a transmission installed and less than 2 years later it failed... so they replaced it...then 6 weeks later it failed again! I was not happy so I asked why the transmissions keep failing... I was told that this is normal sometimes they last sometimes they dont... the way I look at it they must be using cheap parts... when I asked if my warranty was going to be extended from when they installed the 3rd transmission mark did not hesitate to tell me no...GOOD LUCK EVERYONE MAYBE YOUR TRANSMISSION WILL LAST LONGER

No sugar coating, No BS, No trying to sell you a long list of extra things they just happened notice your car needs (solely based on your odometer reading), which is what irks me about going to new car dealers and chain shops for service . Mark and his crew are nothing but honest. Always willing to work with your schedule. They have diagnosed problems for me others have failed at. When they do an assessment you get the honest opinion and risks for you to make an intellegent decision (even if you want to go home and think about it), with their combined many many years of experience. Never any pressure. I dont go to anyone else now. If your car isnt new, there is a cost to keeping it safe and on the road. You need an honest shop like Marks.

I went to amcco hackettstown last year to have my driveshaft repaired they called me with a fairly reasonable estimate so I oked the work to be done. Picked up my truck and heard even more noise coming from the driveshaft after taking it back to the amcco immediately i was told that they repaired a driveshaft that was not repairable and that I needed a new driveshaft and they would get me one. after waiting several days with no phone call or response from amcco I had to take matters into my own hands. I was able to get a drive shaft within 24 hours just by making a few calls I received a check from amcco for half my money back and called it a day . Fast forward two years later I decided to give them another chance. I had a wheel bearing that needed to be done they did a great job on the wheel bearing even though it cost me 670.00 dollars but that didnt really bother me. when I got my truck back it seemed that somehow my sway bar had been bent and the sway bar bracket had been bent so badly that my drivers side leafspring and U bolts were tweaked and the leafspring bushings that I just had replaced were destroyed. Instead Of Owning up and admitting they ran into some issues, because remember this would be the second time they ran into headaches with my truck. They took no responsibility when I brought it to there attention they insinuated it was some how my doing saying I must have hit a rock . Im not the type of man who gets mad at things like this Im more disappointed because clearly I gave them another chance after the driveshaft thing.what did upset me more than anything is that you had to be blind to have not seen the car seats belted in my back seat. I cant understand how they came to the decision that my childrens lifes werent important enough to explain there was a issue and we need to resolve it before you can drive the truck especially with your kids in it. If you are a collage student or a young person I would think again before going to amcco because if there is a chance this could happen to you and you dont have the resources your hands will be tied aside from filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Aamco corporate which is as far as Ive went so far . I dont have time to waist away from my family trying to convince a judge of something that mark the owner of amcco and I already know is true. Its is quite obvious that my truck somehow slid off the lift and was bound up by the leafsprings. There was no care given on how it was taken off. it probably should have been done with a tow truck. as a result of this I have many damages to my truck including blown out leaf spring bushings and shackles, u bolt axle brackets needed to be replaced and U bolts so far. All I am guilty of is giving them a second chance. I trusted you mark remember that.
