Multiple times been let down here after constant ppl recommending. Alignment on the truck, failed to straighten the wheel prior. Mounted and Balanced a set of tires, car now shakes at 55. Quality isnt there and youll be stuck waiting hours everytime. (Unbelievable on the amount of weights and not even put on straight)

I dropped off my Subaru because there was a rattling noise and I had a slow leak in my tire. I noise has been happening for over a year and I even brought it to the original dealership and they said they fixed it, but it was still happening. Trombley had both the noise and tire fixed within a few hours and ensured that it was all covered under warranty so it didnt cost me anything. Great experience overall and I would highly recommend to anyone in the area!

Really personable and friendly staff that definitely come off as being on your side. A woman in front of me had a quote from another shops for $600. The Trombley employee looked over the estimate and said, “I mean yeah, we can charge you that much if we did all this stuff you don’t need, but all you really need is “this” which will cost you just over $100”.

The Ithaca location is superior in terms of auto repair shops in town and is the only place to consider when your vehicle is in need of repair. Trombley has literally saved my life. I am a student here and coming from California with a BMW was super stressful. To preface, my BMW is quite old and is in a constant state of things coming to the end of their useful lives. There are no dealerships nearby and it has not been a problem for me; Trombley has been able to help me with absolutely every issue I have come to them with. They have extremely fair pricing and always have been reliable. They have helped me with replacing wheel bearings, routine oil changes and windshield wiper replacements, new tires, hood lifts, new battery, sunroof drainage, rotor and brake pad replacement, and more. I highly recommend for Cornell and Ithaca College students, especially for women. These guys will not take advantage of you or try to hustle you. My wife and I have been very satisfied customers of Trombley Tires Ithaca location for many years. They are always responsive, courteous, accommodating, informative, and flexible in dealing with their customers. We moved away to Maine for a year and could only hoped to find a shop as super as Trombley is (we did!), but it was a huge relief to return to Ithaca and to count on Trombley again. In our most recent interaction over a detached bumper thanks to a minor deer collision, they took the car into the shop, finished the job in about a half hour, and sent me on my way--to my huge surprise--without having to pay for the repair. How could we not be loyal to and supportive of such great service!

Ive been to Trombley many times and theyve been very friendly and helpful each time. In the latest case, I went to them to get the suspension system, and tires checked. They didnt find any problems in the suspension and checked but found out that one of my rear tire-wheels was bent- they fixed it for no cost. I recommend this place to all my friends for the service! Its usually booked up the week of so its better to call and book an appointment in advance.

Road hazard insurance is free with the purchase of tires, and wow, has that come in handy, especially now that curbs are made of granite, which cut into the tires.Dan seems to know everyone by name. They took care of me and my car quickly and efficiently.

Honest tire shop. Went in to get an alignment and tires swapped, however after putting the car on the rack they determined the suspension was too loose to keep an alignment. Given a time crunch on my emd they gave me back the keys and did not charge a dime. They have your best interest at heart! Highly recommended.

I got a great price on the tires that Trombley special ordered for me. They installed the tires quickly, and balanced them well.The mechanics there are also honest. I asked them to replace my rear brake shoes. I just assumed that the rear brake shoes had worn as much as my front brake pads (which I replaced myself). It turned out that my rear brake shoes were not worn at all! The mechanic was nice enough to take a brake shoe off, bring it into the lobby, and show me how unworn it was. He essentially rejected an opportunity to make more money by doing unnecessary work! How many car mechanics are you going to find that are that honest?Thank you for your honesty Trombley. I will continue to have you service my vehicles!

Weve been taking our cars to Trombley in Ithaca and Cortland for over a decade. Used to be called Ithaca Tire and Auto. Always been capable, inexpensive, and super honest and flexible on lower-cost options. Oil changes are ridiculously cheap here! The Ithaca location is always busy, so book appointments well ahead of time! Trombley is one of the only three mechanics I trust in the city of Ithaca. The other two are Dianes and Taber Street.

Randy was very helpful in setting up an appointment and accommodating my tire balancing issues from another faulty shop. Trombley was running behind schedule during my appointment, so Jerry the mechanic stayed later to keep working on the cars! Randy was very pleasant and even did the job for free to make up for the inconvenience, a very nice added bonus for a college student in the middle of finals week. Would recommend and return!

I have never written an online review before, but because this business is so terrific, this is my first. Trombley Tire & Auto of Ithaca is 1st rate: honest, punctual, professional, reasonably priced, etc.. -- I would recommend them without reservation to anyone looking for an auto repair/tire dealership. Ive had new tires put on here as well getting a wheel bearing replaced that they were able to diagnose within a minute of driving down the road with one of their mechanics. The service is always friendly and the work is done on time for fair rates. Going to Trombley means youll be driving home with guaranteed satisfaction.

I love this place and their customer service and honesty. I brought my car in to get the water pump replaced and after tearing it apart they called me to tell me they thought something might be wrong with the transmission and they didnt want to charge me to replace the water pump if the transmission was going to die soon. So even though they had already spent time and effort to start to take my car apart, they didnt charge me anything. Highly recommended

A few weeks ago I had to bring my car in because my brake pad light was on. Im from out of town and decided to go to Trombley because of the great reviews. The owner took me in on a last minute notice, did a thorough job on my inspection, and treated me fairly every step of the way. I strongly recommend using this shop!!

I was passing through Ithaca and needed tiers in a hurry. They squeezed me in and got me rolling with not too much delay. Justin was especially professional and helpful in answering my questions and getting us what we needed.

I trust this place and they always do a good job and do what they are supposed to. I can usually get an appointment when I need one. Comfortable sofa in waiting area with magazines and a television. Manager is very nice and respectful.

As a person with high anxiety, I have a hard time trusting people with my things. That is certainly NOT the case with Trombley Tire and Auto. Ive been coming here for the past two years now (a few times with my moms care and for all of my oil changes/recent brake replacement) and I have walked out the door happy every time. I had my brakes done earlier this week, but they were screeching for the first 100 miles I drove them. When I called them yesterday (5 minutes before closing) they told me to come in the next day and said it was a hardware issue. I brought my car in today and it is SO much better - and there was NO charge! Everybody there is super accountable, friendly, and really make you feel like youre an important customer. And as a bonus, the prices are incredibly fair - other places have tried to screw me with higher prices, but not once has Trombley.Thanks guys for all your hard work and honesty! Its appreciated!

My wife and I chose this place because it had good reviews. The prices were high but we assumed their business would make up for it by treating us well. We were wrong.Yesterday I got a flat tire. I called in just before close and the attendant let it ring for about 3 minutes before answering angrily. He was rude as heck for the entirety of the conversation but found it in his heart to tell me to bring it in tomorrow and theyd fix it for free (because we had a road hazard plan).My wife brought it in today and they took the tire and said theyd call when it was done. We waited all day for a call that never came. When WE called 7 hours later they told us it had been ready and they just didnt bother to call us.She went up to get the tire put on, and has been waiting for 40 more minutes with no end in sight.Maybe these people used to have great customer service, but that is certainly not the case in 2014.

Amazing service! My car was very loud and had a weird rattle. They looked at my car, found the problem was a super simple fix and fixed it free of charge since it was so simple. Had me in and out in an hour. The waiting room had a nice comfy couch I sat on. Everyone there was very friendly. Definitely recommend them.

I have been to Trombley numerous times. Each time I have been impressed by their insistence on being a business that is customer-centric. There are so many automotive shops that give the industry a bad name. This isnt one of them. You can come here knowing youll get an honest opinion that isnt motivated purely by profit. Want to express my appreciation for Randy and his team for providing assistance in repairing a flat tire over a weekend trip while visiting Ithaca. As a parent, its great to know there is a tire/auto service center that cares about their clients. My two daughters were 300 miles away from where i could help them, but after talking to Randy first thing saturday morning I felt comfortable he would do whatever he could.He searched diligently to try to find a tire but when unsuccessful, he made the car as safe as possible by rotating the full-size donut spare to the rear for the journey home. He instructed them as to how to drive safe with the spare. They answered all my questions and didnt charge anything for their time and effort.First time client and very appreciative. Ithaca has a lot of out-of-town students with cars and Id recommend them as very knowledgeable and trust-worthy.

Theres no other mechanic I would go to in Ithaca.

Had work done at a local Ithaca shop welding my muffler on, they charged 300 dollars. After my muffler fell off again, i went to Trombly, these guys came to the rescue. Not only did they do the job correctly and timely, the total bill was less than 1 hundred. Never again will I go somewhere else to get work done.Edit: I came back for more work a month later, and cant even express my gratitude, Randy and Dan do an awesome job with punctual phone calls and being personable, and again, the mechanics behind the scenes came through.

They were great. Got what I needed. As I headed home there was a terrible rattle. They took care if it and I picked it up the next day. Was told that it was weights. The weights were the same as when I dropped it off. I feel they left the tire lugs loose.

I have been taking my cars (an Olds Alero and now a Honda Fit) to Trombley for five years and am grateful every time I leave that they are so trustworthy and honest. As other reviewers have noted, at Trombley they will clearly distinguish between work that must be done now, and work that should be done eventually, which is a relief when on a budget! I have occasionally asked them to do work that it turned out wasnt necessary, so they politely convinced me to save my money. Furthermore, they have frequently made small repairs and refused payment because the labor was so minor.Over the years I have recommended them to many friends and all have reported great service and fair prices.Perhaps because they are so good, their calendars do occasionally get full! But they arent hard to get an appointment with. If Im calling for routine work theyll typically fit me in within a couple of days, and for more urgent repairs they always try to fit me in that day.I cannot say enough positive things about Trombley. Go see for yourself!

Very friendly staff. They are honest with you and dont try to coerce you for any services. I had to get my steering rack replaced because it had a leak, and they did it on the same day. I had to come back multiple times though for them before they finally pumped out the air in the power steering system, but it was overall a good experience. I would go back to them. (I have a 2002 ford taurus).

I took my truck into Maguire Nissan locally, FOUR TIMES, to have them replace a broken headlight that KEPT going out. They charged me for it every time, even when I vocally pushed for a free replacement, since they werent fixing the problem. They were rude and blew me off.Then I took the same truck into Trombley. They diagnosed the problem in ten minutes -- a broken body control module, an onboard computer that was killing the headlamp repeatedly. They couldnt fix it as it was a computer part you had to go to a dealer to service, but they charged me nothing for the time.A year later, I took a separate car to Trombley to fix yet another headlight issue and to have a full safety inspection done before I sold the car. They worked over the car with a fine-tooth comb for over an hour, fixed the headlight, and charged me ... nothing. They said the inspection was absolutely free, and the light was only a fuse. I insisted they take some payment, but they rebuffed me.TL;DR Take your car to Trombley. They have done work for me on two vehicles, FOR FREE, because the work was light and didnt require parts. On top of that, they are incredibly courteous, they listen to you, and they wont hassle you for repairs you dont need. Trombley is, hands down, the best mechanic Ive ever been to.

AAA towed us here for a blown out tire late on a Friday night and it was ready to pick up by 9:30 Saturday morning! Fast and friendly!

I will start by saying that my car was not in driveable condition and now it drives well. So ultimately, mission accomplished.The employees there were extremely nice and attentive and worked very quickly to get my car back on the road. I expected it to be in the shop for at least a week and when I dropped off my vehicle on a Friday morning and explained the issue they apologetically offered to have it finished by the late afternoon. That saved me a lot of trouble so I really appreciate their efficiency.My one complaint was the price. I am willing to spend a lot on labor, since I believe that a mechanics time and skills are valuable, what I am not willing to spend a lot on are extra repairs I dont really need.In my case, one brake caliper was locked up, and there was pretty extensive damage to that brake pad and rotor as a result. Since both front brake pads and rotors were brand new, I assumed we could just replace the right side that had been damaged by the malfunctioning caliper. Instead their quote of $580 included new brakes and calipers on both sides. When I reminded them that only one side needed repairs, they told me they would not repair only one caliper, that it would cause leaks. They reluctantly offered to save me about fifty dollars by not replacing the rotor on the left side, but that was the best they could do.They ostensibly exerted a lot of effort calling around looking for better prices on calipers, but the lowest price they got was still significantly more than the first price I was quoted when calling around myself (just to see what was out there). When I mentioned those prices they said theyd see what they could do. Later they reported finding a good deal from NAPA Auto (one that was only available if the entire brake system was purchased- both calipers, pads and rotors) but they couldnt tell me what the price was, since NAPA was reportedly having a problem with their computer system.I resigned myself to stop haggling and just let them handle it, hoping for the best. The final price was a little lower than the original quote, but about the same as it would have been had the front left rotor not been replaced.Since picking up my car Ive talked to some other mechanics about the ordeal, and they all insist that repairing both calipers, while advisable, was not absolutely necessary. Since I only need this car to continue running for another few months before I ditch it in a scrap yard, I really wish I hadnt just dropped over $500 on something that was about 50% unnecessary.I am definitely not accusing them of dishonesty, they seemed like pretty upstanding folks... but they do seem to want to maintain a particular standard without consideration for your individual needs, and I definitely get the sense they are encouraged to up-sell you, and may rely on your ignorance if it comes down to that.
