This place was great. We had an engine light on indicating transmission problems. Gears was very busy but fit us in. We expected major repair bills for possible replacement costs, but it was a minor repair. Gears is a family owned and operated business which we will return to in the future.

Got referred here from my tire shop. The guys at Gears were able to quickly diagnose and resolve a scraping noise coming from my truck. Less than 24 hours later I had a new wheel bearing assembly replacement and rear diff service, and I was back on the road.These guys are good at what they do, friendly to work with, and their prices were fair. Very satisfied.

Seems hard to find trustworthy mechanics, which makes this place valuable, these guys are great! Been here several times with different vehicles and always thought they were honest and did a great job.

My wife had an grinding issue with her SUV, so we took it to about 5 different ‘specialists’ over the course of about 6 months with no success (but a lot of money paid). Went to Gears one morning, and they called by my late lunch break explaining the issue, that it was surprisingly rooted in her tires. Ordered the part and within a few days her car was running smooth again. They know their stuff, and they’re extremely thorough. They also didn’t push any upsells like alignments, air filter, etc., which was appreciated

Absolutely the best. I won’t have my transmission work done anywhere else. I had several $4500 estimates for a repair from trans shops in SLC and twice that from the dealer. $200-ish later they did a complete transmission service, replaced and repaired and upgraded a loose clip/factory design issue. They also changed out the filters and cleaned things up. Jeep runs perfect now and has never shifted better. Absolutely amazing levels of honesty and integrity and KINDNESS!

The are fabulous. They rebuilt our rear differential on our Forerunner when it was giving out. We only go here for anything with a gear in it.

Blown away! I am not a car guy and was having serious issues with my truck. I told Gears I thought it was my transmission based on the way it was acting and the age/mileage. I was bracing myself for a possible $4k + hit when they called me back. After testing everything, it was a clamp and hose specifically related to my turbo.... thats it!! I would never have known the difference....but that is who these people are. They have my business for all my vehicles from now on. Thanks Gears!!

Best shop there is in my opinion. They kept me informed and used good quality. And there mechanics are very skilled. And they charge a fair price(for both sides). Exactly what you want in a shop.

We were dealing with a ridiculous situation with a dealership not knowing what was actually wrong and then the warranty company fighting us on covering the repair. Gears stepped up jumped through all the hoops and got it done fast and professionally keeping us updated everytime there was an update to give. They are my goto transmission shop.

Had to have my husbands clutch replace, made the appointment. Dropped it of was told a week to get it done. 3 days and we had a call to go get it. Very fast, friendly place. Thank you for giving his baby back so quickly and taking such good care of him and his truck

Great experience at Gears. i was told a few days earlier i needed a new transmission (2000 Tundra - 226k miles) by a mechanic shop. a friend told me to take it to Gears. ended up being a wiring issue that was causing one of the solenoids to not function causing very rough gear changes and very poor performance. Gears got me fixed up for a fraction of the cost of new (used) transmission. if you are having any transmission issues, take it to Gears!

Just recently took work truck in. On 2005 GMC C5500 for transmission rebuild. They did a great job rebuilding transmission and update to some heavy duty parts for us as well.

I must admit, Gears came recommended BUT I can not recommend them going forward.1.) I was asked to drop my car off at 7am because they needed it right away. So I dropped it off the night before. I was told it would be diagnosed by noon. I called at 1pm and was told that the person who does the diagnostics teaches a school until noon - so why did I need to drop it off at 7am? And it was 1pm. He still wasn’t there to check on it.2.) I followed up at 3pm and it still had not been assessed.3.) I followed up at 4pm and was told “It’s in the shop and up on the rack being looked at right now. I’m looking at it in the shop, I’ll call you back as soon as he’s finished”. - the kicker....I was parked outside the shop staring at my car, still parked in the parking lot where I had left it the night before. Literally being lied to on the phone in the moment.4.) I FINALLY got a call from the shop 20 minutes before they closed, telling me that my transmission was shot and that it would cost $5,800 to repair - but they could start on it ASAP. I decided to get a second and third opinion. Guess what....opinion 2 said it wasn’t a transmission issue at all, but a timing adjustment needed to happen. I was thrilled but skeptical, so I got a 3rd opinion. SAME diagnosis, just a timing issue. $138 later, I saved nearly $5,600 and didn’t need to replace anything.I understand that vehicle repairs can be tedious and expensive, but when you don’t know much about shops in the area and rely on references from others, only to be lied to about the status of a diagnostics process of the vehicle and then told you’d need to spend nearly $6k for repairs - I can not recommend to anyone that they use Gears for honest work.

They helped me find out exactly what was wrong with my transmission, and helped me make an informed decision of what to do with my car. They were straight to the point and no nonsense. They answered every question i asked! Great experience, and i will definately be back.My car was a loss, but i gained knowledge. and now i know the transmission shop i will go to for any transmission repairs i might need.Rip 2003 toyota celica 🤣

They are so good and upfront with any repairs and prices so that it is not a sticker shock when it is done. Also they will go above and beyond to get a better part and not just the cheap plastic stuff either and if their isnt a part for them to get they will make it and stand behind their warranties. Had our transmission rebuilt and it is smooth driving again thanks to their services.

Excellent customer service, and they were up front about everything. Turns out our fix wasnt as bad as we were expecting, so Im also thrilled about that. But they were diligent and got it working for us the next day!

The heartbreak of paying for a new transmission was softened by working with Gears Transmission in Lehi. Karen communicated with us through the whole process and gave us a ballpark quote before they got to work. Once it was finished, they brought us back into the shop to take a look at what pieces were broken and talk to us about the process of fixing it. It was actually quite fascinating! Gears stands by their work and were adamant that we communicate with them regarding any questions or issues. Can’t recommend this place enough!

We love going to Gears! We have been there several times and they are super friendly, knowledgable, professional, and honest. This past experience when we had to get our transmission rebuilt was great. The front office manager/owner is very impressive with her knowledge of vehicles, which just adds to the ease of doing business with Gears.

An honest shop. They only fixed what needed to be fixed (in my case, just a seal). They didnt try to upsell anything. Communication was great, they called and updated every step of the process. Finally, their prices were very fair. I hope I never have transmission problems again, but Ill be back here if I do.

Changing my review, I hate to do this sorry. I am started having transmission after a few months, wasnt a big deal because the car was a spare vehicle. I finally had a master mechanic take a look it. The top solenoid as not replaced as expected and charged for. The transmission is barely hanging on since Gears only left 2 screws. This was causing the rattling after a few months. The master mechanic said it is a miracle that I am still alive since the transmission is barely hanging on. Perhaps the mechanic that replaced the solenoids was having hard day, I dont know. I am really sorry for the review, it wasnt a life threatening issue I wouldnt even bring it. Sorry.

I took my car in with an unknown transmission problem. They quickly determined that it was just a speed sensor and that the transmission was fine. My car drives great now!! Gears Transmission did a great job and treated me fairly. I was very impressed with them and their great customer service. Highly recommend!!

They did my Frankenstein transmission build for me just about 60-70k miles ago for my Honda civic. Still to this day it is thee most solid honda transmission I have ever felt. They did such an amazing job i decided to take them my other Frankenstein build and they obliged to do it! Would recommend for anyone looking for solid work and great customer service! I brought my truck in with a grinding issue that another mechanic couldnt figure out, along with a new problem that Im pretty sure that same mechanic introduced. It was overheating and leaking coolant, which it was NOT doing before I brought it into the other mechanic. It was also grinding when I turned and at slow speeds.The minute Gears called me to tell me what the problems were, and how theyd address them, I knew they would do a great job. They talked me through ever single thing they did, why they were doing it, and made sure I understood my options and felt comfortable with what was happening.Karen at the front desk was unmatched in her customer service. She really went above and beyond to help make sure I understood what I was paying for, etc. She and the team was very fair and honest and service oriented. Thats a very rare find in this industry and I cant thank them enough for taking care of my baby.

Went to a different place before this one and the guy quoted me some ridiculous price. Brought it into gears and they systematically looked at my van and figured out it wad a simple filter and gasket issue. Had me on the road the next day.

I was treated condescendingly. Way too expensive. $200 dollars for a compression test? No thanks.I threw away $50 at this shop due to them making a promise that they knew they couldnt keep. They promised me over the phone in a voicemail callback that Gears Transmission & Drivetrain Repair can diagnose what is wrong with my engine for a diagnostic fee of $50 dollars or so. I will be asking for my money back. When I dropped off my car, I told the individual that I already knew what the computer codes indicated.Much to my dismay, their expensive equipment could only tell me the same thing a $40 dollar scanner could tell me at Jiffy Lube. Reading codes and saying what cylinders are misfiring IS NOT A DIAGNOSIS. Its the discovery of a symptom, not a cause.This company does not know how to talk to customers who have little concept of the mechanics of an engine.My advice for them is to make explicitly clear to all their customers that a diagnosis may cost much more than $50.What left the worst taste in my mouth was a condescending comment made to me when I politely voiced my concern about paying $50 only to find out what I already knew. He said, People cant do work for free. Do you work for free? This made me irate.Were it not for this humiliating comment he made to me, I would not have written this review. I was nothing but polite, and I in no way said I wouldnt pay. And to be spoken to in that manner completely unprofessional and unbecoming of an individual in the automotive services industry.I liked the online reviews I saw; thats why I took my car there, but because of the comment made to me, I will never return. I advise people to stay away from this unprofessional company.

Cost less than they said it would and they were really upfront with everything that they were doing.

I recently moved to the area and didnt have time to find out why my f150 transmission light came on. I normally work on my own cars but with a new job and the move, i had to take it somewhere. They diagnosed and did the work the same day. In my case i got a new solenoid pack installed and the trans flushed. Out the door $175 and has run great for the last year now. At that price, Im glad I didnt do the work my self!

I used Gears for the first time this week and am very impressed! They were very honest with us. Theyve helped out us in a difficult situation by writing a detail diagnostic and taking detail pictures. If we have transmission problems again, we will be using them.

I had a vibration problem on my 4runner that I had been trying to solve for a couple years. dealership wanted to replace entire rear end and all steering components, other mechanics couldnt figure it out. Gears re-balanced my drive shaft and.... vibration gone! why didnt anyone else think of that? Very awesome that they not only found the correct problem but didnt just try throwing parts at it like the dealerships always do.

They do great work and we highly recomend them for all your transmission work.

Over here at gears they took my Dodge Challenger and helped me place a beefed up transmission. They were quick about it and very professional

I was not treated very nice when I fist walked in. I was charged over $50 just for them to hook my car up to a computer and tell me that something was wrong without any detail and my first mechanic had already told me the same thing. Then they were not happy and mean when I told them I would not be having them do the work, because they were going to charge me double what it should of costed me. They are not very friendly or honest. They are just out for money. I would not refer them to anyone.

They took time to make sure they diagnosed the right problem. In my case it was bad engine mounts, not the transmission. They showed me the parts they replaced. They are good to work with. I recommend using this shop.

Paid over 3000.00 to get a transmission rebuilt only to have it fail again in 1 yrs time. When i took my truck in for them to look at it first response was they werent going to warranty it, then they said they would work with me, and finally they told me if i removed the transmission and brought it to them they would split the repair costa with me. I pulled transmission took it to another shop with the receipt listing all the parts gears said the put in, upgraded, or replaced, only to be told that most of the parts were still oem parts and had been attempted to clean up and just re-used

These guys are great and HONEST. I took my van over there once with a problem that I thought it was going to cost me a fortune. They found out that it was a simple problem that they fixed next to nothing.

I was sent here by K&S because I thought I had a transmission issue. I left my car with these guys and a few hours later they called for me to pick it up. Turns out it wasnt the transmission, so they sent me back to K&S. They didnt even charge me and I thought was was super cool of them.
