Employee STOLE our garage door supports. He said we didnt need them, took them off, loaded them into his truck, and took them. Then told us we need a new garage door. If I could give zero stars, I would.
I called and they had a service rep at my house in less than 2 days. Knowledgeable staff and a fair price.
I called to make an appt for someone to look at a broken garage door, the one that answered was definitely not customer service oriented .The next day I had to pay $450 for them to replace a garage door spring, and of course they were irritated when I called to ask about the pricing and if it was correct, they told me it sounds right because they charge 2 hours driving time for Portage, and when I said Portage is only 30 minutes from Madison, they just said I was wrong! Never working with this company again !!!

Went there for the LAST TIME EVER yesterday Oct 19, 2020. I have been there over 10 times and EVERY time they have been just plain RUDE - especially the white-haired dude that sits just inside the front door. I own multiple rental properties and would purchase replacement torsion springs & bottom seals for their brand doors. I hated going there, but it was one of the few places to get springs and bottom seals. Yesterday there was a small white sign on the door stating something out not having showroom service. With my mask on, I tried the door, which was open, stepped in and asked about getting a pair of springs. Whitey said, We dont do that anymore, cant your read the sign?? Very typical response from him. But it was actually a relief to know I wont be treated rudely by him ever again. All I can say is, only use OHD as a LAST RESORT, it is not a pleasant experience. Try Meinholz overhead or Consolidated Doors - Ive had success with both of them. And Menards does have torsion springs.
They stood me up on an appointment, that I had to travel and meet them at. I even called to confirm 2 times on the appointment day and never showed up or called back.
Really rude man answered the phone when I called for help with my exterior opener and I was told to ‘look it up on YouTube’. When I asked if someone could help me, he actually laughed at me and said ‘sure at $85 per hour.’ I do not appreciate being laughed at and actually hung up on him. I purchased a new door and opener from them in 2018 and expected much kinder, better service. I wish I’d gone somewhere else. In the meantime, I guess I’ll find a ladder, a YouTube video...and hope my vertigo & arthritis don’t kick in. Thanks for nothing.

Overhead Door was taken emergency calls due to the COVID-19 Safer-at-Home situation so I was put in a waitlist to fix my garage door. Im was so thankful for the reasonable quote provided over the phone since were on a tight budget during this critical times. Today, Justin came to fix my torsion spring that broke on our garage door. He provided great customer service and done quickly. Our Condominium Association here in Verona is always happy to work with Overhead Door!

Called late in the afternoon, was there the next day and fixed the problem. Service rep (Justin), was great to work with, replaced the part and did some routine maintenance, so problem would not reoccur.
They will not sell me a door to install myself, so they will not get my business.
Motor on my garage door stopped working, so I called to have it replaced. They came out within two hours and had it working again shortly thereafter.Would definitely use them again!

Our garage door was smashed into by a car. I called three different companies before Overhead Door and only one got back to me (an estimate too high for the insurance). Overhead Door were fast, friendly and very professional. The door was reasonably priced, looks great and work was done fast! I did not call initially because of reviews posted, but other people I talked to recommended them, and I will now also.
I called to have my garage door spring replace, techs came out to inspect it and fix, said it wouldnt be more than couple hundred dollars to replace. Get an invoice a week later for $514. Theyre charging me $200 for a trip charge to drive 30 minutes? Called to discuss, manager was super arrogant, started yelling on the phone, tried putting the blame on me that that he tells everyone up front theres a trip charge (which he never once mentioned when I scheduled an apt or I would have never had them out), then said hes a busy man and doesnt have time for this S*** and he will see me in court. THIS COMPANY WILL RIP YOU OFF, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, DO NOT TO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. WISH I READ ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BEFORE CONTACTING THEM. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.
Justin contacted me promptly at the beginning of the time window I was given for the service work, arrived exactly at the time he said that he would, was very friendly and professional, completed the work quickly, and explained everything he did. Very impressive! The bill was at the low end of the phone estimate which was great! The garage doors open so quietly now that you wouldnt even realize they were opening if you werent watching. As long as everything continues to work as well as it is today, we are extremely satisfied. Thank you, Justin!!!!
Overhead door installed a garage that matched color of my house. There was a small problem with it, but they provided honest work and came back and fixed it. I think they provide a reliable service to your home and garage
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN TO ANOTHER COMPANY!! I called the company to get my garage door fixed. The person I spoke to was very nice, told me it would be no more than $200. When I got the charge on my credit card they charged me $350! I called to discuss and the person was as nasty and rude to me. Told me that it was the charge and that was it. Offered to send me an invoice which they to date never have. I put the charge in dispute with my credit card company and they cannot do anything because it was all verbal. BEWARE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! Almost double the charge I was quoted!! I will be looking into small claims.
I called for quick repair of our garage door. The initial contact with the company last night did not go well but when I called back this morning, they squeezed me in. A very professional repair person showed up, straightened my bent track, replaced rollers and had the door working in 20 minutes! This guy was a lifesaver. Our neighborhood has had break ins and rain was predicted which could have been very bad for an open broken garage door. Very pleased!
Replaced the broken spring fine but some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced and double the price of another local shop for same problem. Won’t return.
Justin came out and promptly diagnosed a corroded sensor as the reason for my door not opening. Im renting this property and its had many maintenance problems, yet he is the first handyman to ever think to call the tenant and keep them updated on the reason for the break. I would definitely recommend Justin for anyone needing a repair or installation, as that level of customer service and thoughtfulness is very rare!
Upon returning from a business trip I find two installers from Overhead Door trespassing on my property (as I did not give them permission to perform the installation) and installing the wrong garage doors. After contacting the company with representatives that were extremely rude, the workers took off running their truck over my lawn tearing it up, leaving one of two garage doors nailed closed so I could not access my garage, and in the process stealing two of my cordless tools. Upon returning a month later to try and install the correct garage doors one of the workers trips and yanks the power and control wires out of my garage heater. While he admits the damage he has done, the company refuses to send someone out to repair the heater or take responsibility. The company tries to blame me and tries to intimidate me by sending a Notice of Intention to File Claim for Lien with the first invoice!Luckily I have everything documented with photos, witnesses, and recorded calls. Others may not take the measures I did. I rarely write a review of anything. But I dont want anyone else to experience a business like this that refuses to apologize, refuses to take responsibility, and instead tries to blame the customer. Stay away from this company unless you want terrible service and rude behavior from everyone from the sales person Dennis, to the office manager Jim, to the owner of the business Ron.
Dennis quotes me a price on the phone, which I approve. I just got a bill for 3 TIMES the amount quoted! update: the invoice was adjusted to the correct amount. Service was good.
Terrible customer service. Arrogant sales person. I purchased a new bottom seal and track. Went back with a sample piece to purchase a spare seal and the guy sold me the wrong one and then wouldnt take it back and give me the correct one. Wont ever go back.
Had the spring on my garage door snap on one of the cold nights last week. Reached out to several companies in the area, overhead door quoted me with the lowest price. I had them come out the next day and fix the door. They fixed the door and it was even cheaper than expected. Justin, the service tech, was very friendly and respectful. I would highly recommended them to anyone whos looking for a repair or a new door!
Got me right in today. Bob was very helpful, changed out both door tension springs, and got the door going great today. Hooray - I can get my car out!
When I came home on Sunday night, after being with the family for Mothers Day, the garage door would only open a few inches. After going inside, I discovered the spring had broken. I called the next day, and they were able to come out that afternoon. The spring was replaced in about 30 minutes, so I barely had to take any time off of work.
This company is one lawsuit away from going out of business. This morning, I called asking about the cost for replacing the bottom rollers for my Overhead Garage Door. They have rusted badly and are very squeaky when the door operates. It looked to me like all I had to do was remove three rusty screws form each of the rollers and then simply replace them with new rollers. One man said if I was handy I could do the job myself. He transferred me to the Parts Dept. where I was led to believe that I could bring in the rusty parts and he would sell me the replacements. They both failed to mention that each of these parts was attached to a high-tension wire. So when I tried to remove them, they sprung out and the door slammed shut. I was very lucky I was not injured. I told all of them at Overhead Door Co. of Madison that in the future they should mention these tension wires before telling people it was OK to remove them themselves. They failed to own up to their mistake, and tried to make me feel like I was the one at fault. They said they would come out to fix everything, but it would cost $75 + time on the job + cost of the parts. I checked around and found a very highly-rated company on line that charges less than half that - Precision Garage Door Service. I called them and they are coming out this afternoon to fix the door.
Excellent experience! Spoke with Jim, he was very insightful. Garage door broke Sunday night, called the following morning. Scheduled a repair for Wednesday, they came and fixed the door in a jiffy. Highly recommended to anyone!
I had a garage door that would not open because the spring was broken. They came out within 24 hours and had it fixed in less than an hour. The price was less than I expected.Everyone I dealt with was courteous, helpful and professional. I would recommend them and use them again.
Waited for an estimator to show up Monday. Tuesday at the latest I was told. It is now Friday. No show. No call after a second message was left. Very disappointed to say the least...
They fixed a broken spring on my garage door and then it wouldnt work. When I called them back to say it wasnt working they said Well its an old garage door and thats the problem. And I said but it was working fine before the spring broke. They totally denied it was their fault and refused to come back and look at what they had done unless I agreed to pay for another service call! The woman on the phone was very rude to me. And insinuated that I had purposely broken the door. I have NEVER been spoken to in the way that she did by any service company I have EVER dealt with.My neighbor,who is an engineer, came over and looked at it and showed me the problem. They had reset the the pulley in the track too high...he recommended a quick fix... just adding a little wedge under that side. You can easily see from the outside that the pulley was set higher than the side they didnt fix. It has been 5 years now and the old garage door still works.It was good to get this off my chest. I would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE!
If I could give them zero stars I would!! I schedule a service tech to repair the my garage door at a rental property in Madison. I was told they would get someone out that day and they would call before they arrived. I did not hear back by mid afternoon, so I called again and left a voice mail. No show. Call the emergency line on Saturday, the tech, which I later found out was the owner, called back and said I would have a $300 minimum fee for Saturday work. I explained that I had scheduled the work on Friday but no one ever showed up. He said that was someone else at the company and it was not his fault they did not show up on Friday. He was very rude on the phone and hung up on my after a short conversation. I called right back and once again he was very rude, said it was hot out and hung up on me. I called Monday morning to file a complaint and cancel the service call and that is when I found out he was the owner and I no one to file the complaint with, and of course he hung up on me again. I would never hire these guys to do anything!! Take your business somewhere else.
Worst company I have ever dealt with. Charged my credit cards for invoices that they claim are 2 years old. Could not produce invoices or who approved the work to be done but still charged my credit card without calling. After leaving me on hold 3 times in a row for 10 minutes each time, he tells me where I can go. DO NOT DO business with these people.

The cable broke on one of our doors. I called at 4:30 on a Thursday evening and had a service tech at the house the next day. Very helpful, courteous rep on the phone call and Justin, the service tech, we respectful, very helpful and, also, courteous.
The serviceman, Justin, was very professional and knowledgeable. I am confident the repairs and adjustments made will keep our garage doors trouble free for quite some time.
The worst customer service ever. i called for emergency fixing to my garage door, they told me i will pay extra for that which was ok for me. the tech took my debit card number. 3 weeks after i found that they did not withdraw their money, i called them to make sure they get paid. week after i went to their place and told that they did not get paid for their service, they processed my debit card and gave me a receipt. month after they charged me again. i called them, they said we cant refund your money, you need to dispute it through your bank.
Called to get our garage door fixed and they came the next day. When placing the service call I forgot to mention I wanted the weather stripping piece at the bottom of the garage door replaced. Called the day of service to ask if it could be added to the service order. Found out the garage door was already fixed and the service guy was already at his next customer. Must to my surprise and delight the service guy came back before being done for the day to replace the weather stripping. Thats was I call customer service. Saved me another service call and having them come back a different day.
Weve had Overhead Door install our doors in 87. Theyve handled fixing our torsion springs and just today, fixed my goof ups and I tried to redo some weatherstripping. There service was great and I would fully recommend them!
While the quality of work was acceptable, the entire customer service experience that I had was very poor. Just look for another small business that appreciates having customers.

I purchased two single doors and one opener a few years ago. One of the two doors has rusted, the other has not. The doors are side by side. I was told it was due to salt. I do not use salt on my driveway. Overhead Doors will do nothing to fix since it isnt a gaping rust hole. Now my one opener that I purchased from them is running slow. I would have to pay $150+ to have the circuit board replaced. Inferior products. I mentioned my frustrations to the person I was speaking with at Overhead Doors and he was very cold, almost like I was an inconvenience. I would not recommend this company to anyone and certainly will never use them again. Time to get out the steel wool and Rustoleum and fix my rusty door...
Overhead Door installed the door. A couple of years later, a spring failed. When we called they said it would take three days to send a service person out to fix it. They were very nice about not being able to fix their product.
They were quite overpriced on the garage door opener we needed, but were great in helping us figure out which model we needed. And obviously that isnt really mainly what they do, so I wouldnt have expected a competitive price there(on a small single device purchase).

I just called to set up an appointment to fix the two support wires on the side of my garage door that had broken. The man that answered the phone was not at all friendly. He said he didnt know what the wires I was talking about even did. He then put me on hold, so I hung up. I called another place and they explained exactly what the wires did and what they would do to fix them. I set the appointment up with them.
We have an old garage door opener, and when the key-coded panel went out we went to Overhead Door for a replacement. We found them to be very friendly and helpful.

Called Overhead Door to get a quote on a new garage door, springs, track and opener as our current setup failed. Several people referred us to Overhead, so I had good feelings when dialing their number. I spoke with a representative who said he/they would come to our home the next day to measure our door in order to provide an accurate quote.Well here we are almost two months later and Ive never heard back from them. Thankfully after no response the next day I called one of their competitors, Schmitz Door Service. Robert from Schmitz was at my house the next day as promised. Im actually pretty glad Overhead dropped the ball as I am very happy with the service Schmitz performed. I suggest bypassing Overhead and calling Robert Schmitz.
UPDATE: Imagine that! Not 3 hours after sending them an email notifying them our disappointment, I received a phone call from D. Unfortunately, like any divorce, it was much too little and far too late. There was no apology included either. It was more of a Its not my fault. Its yours. speech from him. He honestly couldnt figure out why I was displeased with his service when it only took him one month to place our order. After trying to contact their Residential Sales Manager, D M, three times over the course of 2 weeks, and having left detailed messages each time, and never having received a response, I was finally able to get ahold of him on my fourth call. During the call Im pretty sure he didnt even pull our account as he misquoted the name of our job and many of the details of our order, but he reassured me hed finally send that proposal Id been requesting for a month and a half, and that our doors would be in tomorrow or the next day. Also, whenever I tried to talk to anyone else at ODM to get some answers I was always stopped short and told NOBODY could help me except D. (Ill let you all guess what D stands for.)A week later, no proposal, no doors, no phone call.As many other reviewers have mentioned on other sites. Im not sure how theyre still in business. Reviews from up to 3 years ago look a lot like mine.Again, unless you are masochistic, DO NOT work with this company.

Spoke with a manager who was very unprofessional. They did not show up for their appointment at all. I called to get more information on why no one came or called, and they basically said they wouldn’t put any time into fixing my issue. Highly disappointed by the lack of communication, how rude, and unknowledgeable they were.
Individual who answered the phone was rude and condescending - and even worse in person. Use any other company but this one!
Justin came and fixed my garage door motor free under warranty. He was very friendly and even lubricated the door hinges without charge.

Avoid this company. They wouldnt even come out to fix our garage door because we asked if they offered any discounts. We were told they dont want our business if we are asking for a discount, and refused to even do the appointment. Poor customer service and the phone conversation with the owner was horrible.

They fixed my door the same day and it didnt cost to much.
Ask these people a few simple questions over the phone and they act like they are being inconvenienced. Rude as hell. What unprofessional customer service. Will NOT be doing business with them.
