This place is exceptional. The people working in the service department are kind, informed, and great at what they do. Frustrated with my closest dealer in Massachusetts, Ive driven all the way back home to here to get something done with my car that the Boston dealer couldnt seem to figure out. I can not speak higher of my experience with Five Star Subaru. Yesterday my husband and I bought a 2021 Subaru Forester. The transaction went so smooth. Leading up to my appointment car salesmen; Jeff Allen and Jonathan Ellis kept in touch with me and answered all of my questions. They saved the vehicle I wanted and didn’t show it to anyone till I got there. I provided a $200 refundable deposit that reserved the car; well worth it since it was the only one on the lot that was the model and line I wanted. (Due to COVID there inventory is lower than usual)When we go there Jeff took us out to the car and went over the many features you get when buying a Subaru. He gave us great directions for our test drive; that took us on a little bit of every terrain. While we were on our test drive they went over my trade in and determined a great trade in value. We went inside and crunched some numbers and then we headed to lunch while they got the new car all dolled up and prepared all of the paper work. They did it all. I didn’t have to do anything but sign. Jeff even hooked up our phones to the new car before we left.Our experience was phenomenal and we would recommend anyone in the market for a Subaru to Five Star Subaru. I had an appointment for an oil change and tire change. When I got there, I was told it would be three hours because they were running late and didnt have a full staff. I had to cancel because I had an appointment I had to keep, and three hours was too long. I had called earlier in the day to confirm the appointment, and they would have known about the staff and running late by then. The person I spoke to never bothered to tell me, but said that I was good for my appointment time. A thirty-five mile drive round trip for nothing.
Good repairs, not cheap, but done right.
Went for inspection and oil change as they inspect car anything that is wrong or needs attention they come to me and let me know first what needs to be done and if it needs attention now so they took care of the extras (miner) thank you
Although it was not convenient to leave my car for 2 1/2 days for an oil change, I appreciated the precautions that the Five Star Suburu service department are taking to keep employees and customers safe. They did a good job on service and touching up a small spot where a stone had removed the paint. I was happy with my service.
Great dealership and great people working there. George from sales is courteous, truthful and a great guy all around which can be hard to find in car dealerships these days. George hunted down a manual Impreza for me which was hard to get ahold of but he did it. Not just the sales staff are polite and courteous but the other departments as well. Tracy from Finance stayed late passed closing on a Friday night just to help me get into my car which I needed asap and was extremely efficient and helpful, George also stayed late as well. The service department is also great, Tom from service is polite and truthful and will go the extra mile to help out. All around great dealership run by good and honest people, I will definately continue to do buisness with them in the future.

Service dept is fantastic as well as all the other staff! Ive always felt very welcomed like a friend or family member when I come here, and I love that about Five Star Subaru. I also appreciate the play area for children, that was a God send for my busy toddler while we were waiting. The building is beautiful also and they just finished remodeling, it looks great. And of course, great cars! When I can finance again in the near future, I will be coming back to Subaru for a new car.

First off, the staff is really friendly and respectful. I really like that about Five Star. Very prompt service when first making contact. However the star rating comes from an incident that happened recently. Long story short, I was guaranteed that my car would be ready within the hour. This was after them having my car for five days(four business days) and me calling for the confirmation that my car would be ready an hour prior. An hour and 15 minutes later I arrived at the dealership after driving 20 minutes back into town. When walking into the service area, I saw my car still in the air and was told that there was a mix-up with parts and that I would have to wait another day. I understand that mistakes happen, but receiving this information on arrival rather than over the phone is upsetting to me. I currently have strep throat so driving 40 minutes out of my way was really not something I wanted to do. There is more to this story, which I emailed to Five Star directly. I will update my review based on the response I receive.UPDATE: Service manager made contact with me in regards to my email. Everything was resolved and I am very satisfied. Five Star Subaru really does care about their customers, and they have earned themselves a customer for as long as I own my Subaru. If you do have a problem with the service/price that you received, dont be afraid to bring it to their attention because they really do care about your feedback and your overall satisfaction.
Ended up coming here because the dealer in Albany ignored me. Had a great experience. They made it very easy to get my new car. Service department is very easy to work with as well. Answers all your questions

I brought in my 2017 CrossTrek yesterday with a cracked fender clip. Id already supposed that the plastic clip couldnt be repaired and Id need to buy a whole new front fender. But no! Im only familiar with the service department but their prices are really really good and their service is even better. They have two waiting rooms with plenty of magazines and snacks that are complementary. Theres also coffee maker and complimentary water. Ive been very happy with the service and I really like that they wash my car every time it goes into their bay.
Unwilling to work with you to meet your numbers. I had a rough financial year and needed to stay within my means and was told I needed an astronomical down payment and would still have a hefty monthly payment. Went to Toyota, and they worked their butts off to get me in my price range. Never going back to Subaru!!!!!

These guys are way to concerned with selling you additional services rather than the reason you brought your car in. I went in to have new tires installed but the service guy who came in to review my car was more interested in trying to have me perform an oil change (which I had just done at this same place a few weeks prior) and other fluids instead of going over my alignment. Instead they glossed over it at the end when they presented me with my bill. So rather then performing the alignment then and there while they were putting the new tires on, I now have to go back another time to have it performed (nice trick to get me to come back again). Wont be getting it done here I can tell you that. This was my second visit there, fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you.
As a retired mailman, I can only tell you that without a SUBARU, I could not have done my job so successfully. SUCCESS for me, and a CAR that is dependable both in performance and endurance...made my days easier and more rewarding. In a fast paced world my vehicle is and always will be a SUBARU. THERE IS NO OTHER in comparison. Let my work and play reputation speak for me.

Someday I will be sure to own a Subaru and I will defiantly get it from five star Subaru in Oneonta because the people I know that have a Subaru have got there Subarus from here and say they are very nice people and they will get you what you want!!!! And that is the kind of dealer that I want to work with!!!
We had a disappointing experience at 5 Star Subaru. I had contacted the dealership on a Friday afternoon, expressing interest in a vehicle, notifying them we would be there at 9am the following morning. When we arrived, the salesman had the car ready for us to test drive, which we did. There did not appear to be another person on the premises looking at the same auto. On our return, we were told another person was interested in the same vehicle. I said we were very interested, can we please start the process of buying the car. As we came to an agreement, the salesman was called away, returned a moment later and said the car had been sold- he was very sorry. I explained we had been there first, he agreed but stated the other party was paying cash and did not have a trade-in and the deal was done. The professional and ethical course of action would have been to offer us the same deal - cost, no trade, no financing - which they did not.
Nah... During negotiation sales girl told me I insulted the owner... they tried to sell me a car with a lot of scratches, digs on the interior etc.. for way too close to new prices... I told her I wasnt ready to buy yet.. she forced me to offer a price Id take the car that day for... I thought I was being fair... it wasnt one of the better dealer experiences. I do have lots of friends that are quite happy with them though.. just not for me.
3-4 months ago I brought a 2012 Ford Focus and it was the worst experience of my life! If I can do it all over again I would of just sent the extra thousands to buy a new car! The salesman that sold me the car is a CROOK. He sold me the car for $10,500 and the car had about 57,000 miles on it. Since I am a women and a college student he figured you can take advantage which he certainly did! I hate him with all my heart! So, when I left the store with the car he told me if there is anything wrong with the car just bring is back and we will take care of it free of charge if it still in the warranty time. So that is what I did, I got a message about something is wrong with my back light 3 DAYS after I brought the car and I brought it in for them to tell me what is wrong. They told have a seat we will take care of it. An hour and a half went by and they asked me for $38 because my back light was out. That is a job I CAN DO MYSELF if they told me what was the problem before they fixed it. Then 2 weeks after I brought the car it was making this awful noise which after 2 months I found out by myself because they were useless that it was a recall on the car. They had no help in helping me figure that out! And lastly today I went to on their site to get the name of the salesman and was curious so I went to see their used inventory and guess what? They are selling a 2013!!!! Ford Fiesta with Bluetooth and the whole nine yard for $10,500 and what is killing me is that it only has 29,000 miles on which proves my fact that, that salesman is a crook. That salesman is the chubby one. He is just horrible!! Through all this he actually taught me a lesson. 1 to never buy or recommend him again and also to just buy a new car because it is better than going through all that!! SO IF IT IS NOT A SUBARU DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!! I CANT STRESS THAT ENOUGH

They are always staffed with courteous staff members, always willing to hear you, fix whatever problem you have, give you a detailed answer; no matter what.I recommend Five Star to many of my friends and think of them as family!My 12 year old has already called dibbs on my Forester for his senior prom, (maybe I will have the Outback Legacy I have been wanting by then!! HEHE!).
