Went online to CarMax and found the car I was looking for . Had it delivered to the Ontario CarMax so I could test drive and see if it was a fit for me and within a week I was driving my new car! The buying experience was fast, the salesman was courteous, answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. When I had a mechanical issue with the car a bought they were fast to get me in and out. All the while keeping in touch with me on what was wrong with my car and the status of the repairs. All in all a great experience.
Donovan is THEE man!! I went to carmax twice in the same day. First to get my car appraised and Donovan was a huge help and very friendly. Not realizing it was a holiday(indigenous day), they were SUPER busy and he was able to help me right away even though I was told there would be quite a wait. He and his team did their job and had me out of there quicker than I expected with a great offer. Went back later that day to actually turn my car in. No hassle at all!
We purchased a vehicle from CarMax Ontario 8 months ago and these guys have yet to provide us a title and registration for our vehicle. There has been zero follow up for an explanation as to why things have been delayed. I complained to corporate and then have spoken to a sales manager but Ive yet to speak to the general manager. He seems to be very frightened of having a conversation with me and allowing me to voice my opinion about their lack of service and professionalism. I used to love Carmax, purchased 4 vehicles from this specific location and to be treated the way that we have is irreparable. Our car has less than 15,000 miles and weve decided to swap it out for a new car but unfortunately they can only find comparable vehicles with 50 plus thousand miles. Definitely a rip off and definitely disappointed with their lack of care and empathy. Steven, you may hold the title of general manager but your actions are comparable to a crook. They tried to give us a new car who would not apply any of the previous payments to the new vehicle even though they defaulted by not providing timely registration and title on a 2017 vehicle with only 10,000 miles. Its obvious theyre hiding something but I dont have the time or patience to deal with their stupidity so Im having them refund me on my money. Ive purchased four vehicles from CarMax over the years and I can definitely tell you that this will be the last time
Manager treated us poorly, Business Relations Department told us to travel to location, when we got to Palm dale and car was pulled moved over carseats for a test drive. Manager canceled the 24 hour test drive, and also 20 minute test drive. Family and I traveled 2 hours and 45 minutes to make the deal. But manager didnt want to extend working hours for finance department or sales rep.Michael our sales rep was mortified on how we were treated cause we are a military family, and my husband is going on deployment. This is a gift to me and our children, and this was much more than a car purchase to us.The following morning I had the acting manager on staff call his name was Classic, he was able to hear how we were treated and said we would receive gas for our trip if we wanted to come back and see the vehicle once more.We piled all of our children in to make one more trip but after giving it some thought on how we were treated and how Michael our sales rep was treated we decided not to do business with you guys.Moral of this conclusion: Our sales rep was great, your management needs better training in customer relations, and we had the cash to purchase the suburban out right. Maybe next time.
The sales agent was quite pushy and made my car buying experience feel forced, rushed, and like I was an inconvenience. I have purchased previous cars from CarMax but after this experience I will likely not come back in the future to purchase additional cars.

I went to Carmax in Ontario California and bought a 2021 Hyundia Palisade and as soon as I got on the freeway to go home the a/c stopped blowing and I looked down at the center console and all of the lights that control the a/c and heater were non functioning then they came back on and went back off 5 more times so I immediately took the car back that same day and said that I don’t want it and the salesman ordered us another Hyundia Palisade from San Diego but unfortunately Carmax cashed our check even though we returned the car that day and now it’s been 3 weeks and we still haven’t gotten our money back it’s been very frustrating dealing with Carmax to get this money returned to our bank Carmax had no problem immediately cashing that check but it’s taking forever for them to return it to our bank so now that we’ve bought another car we now have a car loan through Carmax and we also have a car loan through our bank so we have 2 payments that are going to be owed in November and my wife and I can’t afford it!

I purchased a car and had it delivered. It was on time and very seamless. All representatives were helpful throughout the process. The only thing was a couple days after I received my car the battery died. I was very frustrated and called CarMax. They ended up quickly reimbursing me for all costs to replace the battery. (I understand things can happen but they fixed the whole situation with professionalism) Later I took the car in to be inspected by my local mechanic. They said everything looked great on the car and was in really great shape, nothing was needed. I then took in my old cat a week later after receiving a copy of my lost title. The quote that was given from photos virtually was exactly what was offered in person. I went on a busy Saturday and it took two hours. I was out of the door with the exact offer as a check. I would RECOMMEND this to EVERYONE!! I will never deal with the dinosaur ways of a standard dealership again! After seeing the process my boyfriend will also be using CarMax as well.

The sales man was great. However, the vacuum hoses were disconnected. The engine light came on the next day. We were leaving on a trip out of state so I was forced to take it to my mechanic. The hoses were in plain sight. It was clear that it wasnt checked by who ever is supposed to check it. It cost me time and money.
I was there to sell my car, an associate told me it would take 30 min. The transaction was over but took over 2 hours, they were so sllooow However, the good thing was they honored their appraisal value that suppose to be locked for 7 days...

I chose my car online, the car was about 5 hours north of me. I reserved the car on line and a car max associate called me with in the hour. She was nice, personable, informative and professional. She walked me through the entire car buying process, from financing to transferring the vehicle. It was all done over the phone. It cost $199 to transfer vehicle from the store it was at, to store closest to me. That fee was very reasonable. I was told that it could take up to two weeks for car to get there. That seemed a little long, given car was only 5.5 hours from me, but I agreed. I was told that I would be kept informed of the whole process. Where Car Max losses the one star was in the transferring process. It takes the full two weeks plus some . I was not kept updated on shipping process. I repeatedly had to call for information, and wait on hold or was disconnected stuck in phone cue. Three days after the car should have arrived I had spoken to no one and literally went to another dealer to purchase similar vehicle. Luckily for Car Max that vehicle had a service need, so I did purchase it that night. The next day someone from Car Max finally called me. I went that evening to see it and hopefully purchase. The test drive, purchase was seamless. My associate was awesome, she too was knowledgeable and friendly. I had car loan Pre approval so my paperwork was a piece of cake. They were crowded and busy that night but still treated my family and myself well. The car was in great shape, they fixed two cosmetic issues (scratches) and off I drove. My take home is this: I will buy from Car Max again as I love the no haggle pricing. I probably won’t transfer another vehicle, but would just drive/fly too said vehicle. This was my second purchase from Car Max. I love the selection of used vehicles and love the ease of buying.
I had a particularly difficult case, took me over a week to get into a car due to issues with my trade in (registration was on hold from an address change) but Mike Gonzalez stuck it through, texting me updates every single day, I changed my mind on a car then the second one didn’t pass quality control so I chose a third, and he was a super champ with it. He stuck right besides me through the 6 hour wait with the paperwork etc and I know he didn’t get paid for all that lost time with me. I HIGHLY recommend Mike if you want a honest salesman that won’t just pass you off to someone else when it gets difficult. It was a grueling experience but Mike made it so much easier to deal with!
Love this place! If you can come up with at least 1500 down...you can drive out of there with a descent car. They offer lots of extra protection, warranty, and maintenance to ensure no matter what happens you will always be ok and never be left on foot!

I just purchased a $40,000 2019 Lexus at CarMax in Ontario. The service up to and including the time of the sale was excellent. The sales person gave me his card and assured me if i had any questions or concerns to contact him. The number on the card was the general number for the sales office in Ontario. After getting home I noticed there was no owners manual and also a few other questions came up. I called multiple times but no one ever picked up from that office. On each occasion someone off site would finally answer but they also were unsuccessful in getting through. They were able to get the sales persons cell phone number who sold me the car. I called but only got his voice mail. I left a message to call but got no return call. I wont be using CarMax again.
The only way to sell a car, i described the car as accurately as their online assessment page had parameters for and when i took the car they looked it over and agreed to that same price, all in at about 30 minutes, i really appreciate doing business with competent and respectful people, no nonsense no trying to mark it down, well done car max, well do business again

Fantastic experience selling my Subaru Forester to CarMax. Performed on online quite before going to the dealer.When I arrived they were very busy. Took 2.5 hours to evaluate the vehicle and sign all the paperwork. Even though I still owed money on the vehicle, I wa last able to walk out with a check for the different between the payoff and their offer!👍😡
I visited the store multiple times to complete transaction where Carmax purchased my vehicle. The purchase price was unmatched, so my rating figures that in. I called in a few times prior to going in to make sure I had all necessary documents to complete the process. Despite the assurances from some of the personnel, I had to return more times than necessary (three separate visits) and the wait times, even with appointments, were well beyond what I expected (more than an hour for the appraisal even though I had an appointment scheduled- it states it will take 15-20 minutes in the email confirmation) and more than three hours for the actual completion of the car purchase.

I try my best to work with them,Kathy Van was rude and when i asked if i can work with some one else she just said NO, i spoke with the sales manager and he said what ever Kathy says, then walked away never back again.I try to negotiate $1000 and we never agree they rather loose a clien than sale a vehicle. I was giving her 10k down payment and for 1k she rather loose the sale.
I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I was there for an appraisal. The process took longer than expected and I had to check in a couple of times to find out what was going on as they had customers wait outside due to COVID restrictions. Overall I was satisfied with my experience! I would definitely recommend CarMax to family and friends.

2012 Fiat 500Experience with service was excellent! I went in with a possibly transmission issue and after looking over the car they couldnt find anything wrong but they still looked over the entire car and found my window regulator was broken. With it still under warranty they replaced it and gave me a new antenna. Jaime I think her name is in service stayed in contact with me everyday to keep me updated on their progress and they filled my gas tank. Jaime has excellent customer service and its great at what she does. Thank you Jaime and thank you CarMax I will be returning when its time for a new vehicle you guys are awesome. 😃😃😃
I do enjoy the ease of purchasing a vehicle here, but make sure you have a little time because to straighten out the paperwork takes more time than picking out a vehicle. They do have a good selection of finance companies to meet most credit, however make a few selections of vehicles online because inventory is very limited at most one location and can have the vehicle of your choice delivered to the your closet CarMax or even to your home.

I cannot begin to describe the experience I had selling my car to CARMAX. It was beyond the best experience ever. They were very fair for the price they paid me. In fact, I was preparing for the worst and could not believe the deal I was given. If I could give their team a hundred stars I would. They were very busy and there was a little of wait, but man was it worth it! No other dealer would have taken care of me like they did. Process finding my car was easy. The problem came when I went in to sign… I was already prequalified, already test drove my car, still it took 3 hours for me to drive away in my car. They could be a lot more efficient at the signing table. They’re supposed to be like an assembly line but it’s not very effective.

I sold my vehicle over two weeks ago, and my vehicle still hasnt been paid off with the loan company. I am currently on the phone for 3 hours trying to get this resolved. I dont know why they dont pick up the phone. I am probably going to have to go in person. Three hours on hold. Wow

Update. Our first visit went bad due to a car we reserved and had an appointment for, was not there when we showed up. We had another car transferred and we were able to compare both vehicles. We purchased one of them today and the process was very easy. Our sales consultant Eddie Ramos was awesome as was the lady in financial. I will definitely be coming back
I have been to Carmax to trade my car in. I loved the first car but had an issue I had to return. I kept reminding the representative I haven’t test drive the car and said since we had already started the paperwork I had 24 hours to test drive. Came home and to work the next day and boom engine light. Got a second car thought I would be able to adapt to it I was wrong. I mean it was spacious which was awesome but the car was not for me. The only reason why I got it was because the vehicle I wanted to see there was no pic on the website. So I was stuck. I refused to put more money down and kept the same monthly payments. So the 3rd time I got an amazing representative who went above and beyond. I ended up putting a few hundred more down, but I didn’t like what I was being shown. The one I did like got sold out from under me. So I asked to see the car I wanted in the first place with no pictures on the website and I seen it, test drive it and fell in love with it. I’m so glad I finally had a representative who was willing to help me out instead of just putting me in just any vehicle I didn’t want. The only thing I was worried about was that I returned my car before picking a car not thinking (what if I don’t find a car). Over all experience car max is good but having to go through 3 different cars because the reps are rushing and not really caring on what I want makes me question.
Worst customer service that I have ever received in my life. That Carmax warranty care is bulls#!+. The warranty place only covers rentals through enterprise and in my case enterprise keeps telling me that they have NO CARS LEFT. So my car has been in the shop I’ve been without a car and this place said there is nothing they can do about it. They can’t provide me with a loner or NOTHING. MIND YOU, I was fine with it for the first week but the date of fixing my car and the part coming keeps getting pushed back. It’s been delayed TWICE. I will NEVER get a car from here again. EVER.
If you want to buy a dirty car, one you have to take to your mechanic to make sure everything is good, then have to take it back to check their work (paying everytime), then pay again because they didnt fix everything, then be completely ignored when you tell them its not done correctly, this is the place for you. They treat you like a number no personal service. My sale rep Bong was great probably the only positive thing. I am not just saying this from one experience but 2 in a row. Pitiful just pitiful.

We have purchased several cars from Carmax over the years and yesterday we bought another. Let me start with the good. First, my wife was looking for a particular model, year and make which she found on the Carmax website. The vehicle was located in Palmdale. Carmax relocated it for free to the Ontario location which is near us. My wife was also able to make an appointment to come and inspect the vehicle. So on a convenience level, Carmax went above and beyond. I also want to note that our sales representative (Kerri) was extremely professional and helpful throughout the purchasing process.Now for the not so great part. We were paying for the vehicle outright with no financing involved, yet the paperwork took almost 3 hours for them to complete! It was crazy! And during that time we noticed several employees and customers throughout the building with masks all the way off of their faces or pulled down beneath their nose. (See pics).We thought that making an appointment and paying directly would make it a faster process. But we were disappointed. Furthermore we wanted to be as efficient as possible, in order to limit our risk during the COVID-19 pandemic, but unfortunately, many employees and customers did not show concern for the safety of others.
From the person that checked me in in Business Services to the young person that handed me a check it was an easy and pleasant transaction. They did not make me feel rushed but they have a good system to get you out of the door asap. Fair offer on my vehicle to top it off.

I went to get my car serviced here and took my friend with me because she wanted to look at cars. We were helped by Mike, and it was the worse experience Ive ever had. He was very short with us and didnt help when we asked for his opinion on anything. He just showed us what we wanted and told us well the cars are outside, go head and look. Im gunna see if theres any other customers I can help. We waited for my car to be done and left. Very unprofessional on Mikes half. Didnt get any other help from no one else, if you can dont go to this one. Take the drive to Riverside.
My son is trying to get his first car and he found one but it was at Marietta so we looked around the lot and then he was able to speak to one of the car salesman to get the idea of how the process works. Today we are actually going to test drive his car because it now in Ontario

I had a few friends who spoke highly of Carmax so when I was looking to sell my BMW I decided to go to them first. I had already blue booked my car and knew what I wanted. I was offered just slightly under my desired price so I accepted. No haggling or negotiating. I was not pressured in any way. And because I only sold my car and had nothing to get home in, they called me a Lyft to get home. They did all the paperwork to pay off my loan and cut me the check for the balance, and away I went. Would definitely go to Carmax again

The sales rep called me to tell me he was going to appraise my car. I sat in my car for 2 hours. When I went inside to ask how much longer they told me they didn’t even have me down. I had an 11am appointment. I did not leave until 3:30pm.
They were friendly the place was very clean very busy I did spend a few hours there I thought it would be a lot faster but it was not but all in all they served my purpose

I was very pleased with my overall experience. I was greeted with a friendly welcome. Yaya handled the financial process with professionalism and clear instructions. Franklin was super helpful and positive and quick to take care of everything. The two appraisers were very polite and complimentary of my vehicle. The entire process was stress-free. The sanitation protocols were outstanding. My favorite part is that, while I was waiting, employees talked to me to help pass the time so I didn’t get too anxious. The check in to have the vehicle inspected was great and efficient. The worst part was sitting outside for 2 plus hours in the Heat with my 73 year old mother. No water offered or an air conditioned spot for her to sit. Sadly the vehicle that we were selling was from her husband that just past away and there was no finance company involved. We had all documents and the vehicle was rated 10/10. So this should not have been a lengthy process since we owned the vehicle. Once they finally processed and issued a check it took seriously 5 minutes to sign. Should have a better process for the elderly to sit in the heat! At least offer them some water.
I have bought the cars from CarMax in the past and we have always received great service and great cars. However this time that was not the case. This experience has been so bad. I have never felt the need to write a negative review before until today.We purchased a van from CarMax 45 days ago and weve had to return the car three times due to engine problems. Every process along the way has been horrible. The wait time for everything is horrendous, we waited with our newborn for over 5 hours to purchase the car. Every time I call it takes almost 2 hours to get ahold of somebody. Every time I was at the location to fix problems it took hours. Furthermore they have screwed up our credit score which we are struggling to fix. Finally there has been many times throughout the process where we have caught them in multiple lies.We normally go to the CarMax in Duarte, but we decided to try Ontario. I regret 100% coming to Ontarios location. If you want to buy a car with CarMax I recommend to go to another location and not this store. If you do you are going to Ontario be prepared wait for ever! Seriously be prepared to wait. If youre a parent and are thinking about bringing your kids and DONT do it. You will wait for hours.If I could I would give them a zero stars I would, however the only reason why theyre getting one star is because of Ruby who works in the service desk. She is amazing. She never over promises and under achieves like other employees.Because of this experience I will not be buying a car from CarMax the next time I need to buy a new car.
Bought a minivan in late April from Carmax in Ontario because our family is expanding and our Jeep Patriot would no longer suffice. Took over five hours to process. Had it less than 14 hours when the transmission started having problems. Took it back, they fixed it. No problem. Had the car less than a week, the driver side window motor goes out. Was in the process of taking it back on the 30 day money back guarantee and they ran a hard check on my credit without my consent. Management tells me theres nothing they can do, and admits that it happened to other people. A week later I get notices from Riverside Express Lanes telling me to pay for violations for the Jeep Patriot that had been sold to Carmax. Because they ran a hard check on my credit, now I dont have good enough credit score to qualify for a new loan, the Jeep is gone, the trade in value went to paying off the loan, so we are stuck with the lemon van. Check engine light came back on today. Whats next?...recommend literally any other dealership. Avoid at all costs.

This is our second time doing business with Carmax. Our first time we made a purchase with them, this time we sold our car to them. There was no bait and switch, we received the exact amount that we were quoted online. Everyone there was very nice and professional. Thanks again Carmax!
Customer service here at the CarMax location is amazing! It took three visits to finally get our vehicle because we had misplaced paperwork on my end but the CarMax rep that we dealt with Armond had so much patience and the customer service we received was above and beyond our expectations. Ive already referred two people and will continue to do so. Im glad I chose to get my vehicle here. Thank you CarMax and all working there. Doing a GREAT job!
Jorge Jimenez was very unprofessional with his behavior and customer service. It is unexceptionable to be shown a car that is listed as certified and claim to have be inspected. Within moments the car’s brake light was out and check engine light began to flash. Jorge Jimenez was not thorough and sloppy. Do not recommend doing any transaction with that individual. I greatly enjoyed my Carmax experience. It far exceeded the stressful and anxiety-ridden encounters I have had with traditional car dealerships. During this pandemic, traditional dealerships are adding on a dealer surcharge of more than $10,000 per car (on top of the non-negotiable MSRP). I probably paid a little more than I would have at Carmax during non-pandemic times, but I didnt have to pay a ransom in order to buy the car. I appreciated the straightforward pricing, and lack of dealer surcharges, at Carmax. I found my car, paid for it, and drove it off the lot in less than 3 hours -- no haggling, talking to the manager, etc. Thank you Carmax for providing consumers a different car buying model.
Well, at first I was really pleased with the process of buying a car from CarMax. However, my car has had nothing but problems since. Some which were very preventable and just over looked from negligence. In the less than 90 days Ive owned my car, it has been in the shop a total of 2 weeks already. After going round and round with CarMax in Ontario that my rotors were bad and them insisting they werent, I took my car to CarMax in Riverside. The mechanic there let me know they have no idea how a mechanic could miss such warped rotors. I will never take my hard earned money to CarMax ever again

I had an appointment to get my car appraised. It was a very easy process, the entire thing took about an hour (they were very busy). I liked the offer and selling my car to them was very easy. I did not purchase a car from them this time. Libby was awesome to work with.
