They dont give enough for your books. I sold a stack of books and got 3.45 back. Now their selection is amazing, and their staff are super friendly, but when it comes to selling books, I was not happy. They do have a great selection, and I will be back to buy stuff.

Wonderful place to get away and relax! They have it all.... books, paper or hardback, games, toys, movies and more to offer! The kids area is set up nicely to let your child walk freely and explore the book selections from toddlers on up to tweens! Exceptional customer service whether on the phone or needing a little direction! The vast array of books and movies are overthrow so you have to choose your sections to visit! Theyve mapped this store out exceptionally well and always have employees organizing to help the customers. Ive never had any luck selling books at this location, which is unfortunate, but can go to a sister store and do so much better! Excellent way to relax and shop without the big crowd loud noise!

Great selection of media, not just books.The staff has always been helpful and willing. If you want a book they dont carry theyve always gone out of their way to see if theres an option to get it. Great service by people who care about books.

I love this place. Its like a magical library of forgotten books that you never know what youre going to get!! Odds are you will find a FEW copies of popular series for MORE than half the original price, so dont let the old carpet turn you away. They move stock all the time and even have TONS of comic books, records, and games! They have sections there for everyone and EVEN have french/chinese/japanese/etc books if u know where to look. Like I said: magical

Dont expect to get very much if you decide to sell your stuff here.I sold them a huge lot of CDs, some records and books. They gave me $4.75.If I wasnt in such dire need of some quick cash, I wouldve walked out the door.With the prices I saw on their CDs for sale, I felt SO ripped off its not even funny, in fact it was sickening.I will never go back.

Half price is by far my favorite place to be. This visit was just as great as all of my others. I found some new books of interest to read that I will be back for. They were pleasantly displayed to catch my eye and what a beautiful job they did at it. Each employee that I passed or had the pleasure of speaking to was friendly and helpful and the store as always was clean and tidy. As always I look forward to my next visit :)

I could spend hours in here. They have a great selection and the staff is extremely friendly. You can also check the inventory of each store on their website.

A place to get rid of old books. Dont take in more than a couple of boxes at a time, and expect to stay there while your books are evaluated. They do not pay much for anything but books by famous authors. At least it is a way to get rid of a lot of paper. I hope it is recycled.If you still like to read real books, it is a place to get them at used prices, however Goodwill would most likely be less cost. Half Priced Books also has 35 RPM records.

Came in to sell books. The place was crowded. Half not wearing masks. Told clerk we would come back to get a quote on the used books. Clerk said we could not leave while waiting for a quote and said it would take 40 min to one hour. More unmasked people came in and we took our books and left.

My family had the rudest treatment at this store today. One employee was bullying us, getting right in our face... less than 2 away! One of my grandsons was not wearing a mask, but he had politely explained that he was medically exempt. That didnt go well, the employee came over 3 times in 5 minutes forcing us to leave the store. I was shocked by their rude and poor customer service. Ive been going here for many years and couldnt believe they were so insensitive. There was only 1 other customer in the whole 8,000 building and we were carefully far away from anyone... until he came to bully us. I wont be returning.

Great books for a great price. Too Many choices and not enough time

So, I spend way too much time in Half-Priced Book Stores 😅 I love to glance through each of the sections for hidden gems. I routinely find great buys, especially in the gaming and sci-fi sections. Most books are reasonably priced and are in great shape. I definitely prefer going here and giving used books a new home rather than buying at B&N.

Its great that this place still exists in this location! Friendly knowledgable staff. And plenty of space to keep distance.

This is the first time I have visited a Half Price Books. I took some books in for sale. Call ahead to check hours for buying back books. They were very fast. Then gave me a slip of paper to take to the cashier to use as credit against a purchase or get cash. A great process. The book selection is amazing, and they also have records, DVDs, and a few new books and games. I will definitely be shopping here in the future.

The employees here are amazing! I called about a book so after waiting a quick minute they returned with options and they even one step more and took payment over the phone and I was able to get after work. I will definitely be returning here for the service that they provided happily.

Never the same store twice. The books change as people bring books in to sell to the. Also fair business price for books. I think it is based on how many they have and how many they are selling.

We visited 7 states on 10 days and I think we hit every Half Price Books in every town. This location has the best selection of rare/vintage books and we really loved the theology section. Lots of good books, just wish we hadnt been at the end of our vacation and almost out of money! Lol

Prices are only fair, some more expensive. Same book, the price is almost doubled if you buy it online than buy it in local Half Price store. Buy back price is very low. Sold 10 almost new magazines, only get $2.25. The store in Olathe is selling the old magazines for $1 each. Note: the store only use black marker to cross out your name and address, not secure enough, suggest you cut of the address label before you sell it.

Since the store in Lawrence was closed several years ago, I go to the O.P. location a few times a year, because I love that store, but its hard to get over there. I always find several great books to buy. Wish they hadnt closed our Lawrence store.

I allways get something when Im here, decent book selection. Allways a little busy but not too busy. Good selection of scifi books that has a decent rotation whenever I check the place out (usually once every 3 months).

This place has terrible customer service skills. They were rude and low balled me on a book buy. If your looking for a cold rigid atmosphere then you will find plenty at half price books in overland Park. With half price customer service and half price friendliness. I think a zero star rating should be an option for places just like overland Park half price book store. Maybe the staff should read a book about common courtesy customer service and friendliness. Thank you for a horrible book buy and barter experience.

Found the book I wanted.

The store is enforcing mask wearing and has multiple signs throughout stating social distancing rules. I felt extremely safe going in there and browsing for some more reads while being cooped up. Staff is also very friendly, could not recommend enough.

Huge selection. They had a specific title shipped there from a far away location to save me the drive to spindependence. And their discount section was very large. Theres always something interesting to browse buy and keep the local bookstore alive! We cant just give all our money to amazon, people!

I like this place, but it is over priced on items...I try and support it, but when you have hardcovers without the sleeves and charging $1-$2 less then what can be ordered for new it is hard.

Its always enjoyable to go in and find a good read coming out with a stack of books that only cost me $15. Reading all of those and coming back the next time as vigorous and excited as the first time I stepped foot in one of these doors.

Cheap, gently used books! First time to this location, but for a bookworm, whats not to love about this place? Store is clean, shelves and aisle signs are labeled to make browsing easy. The staff is always friendly and in my experience, happy to make a recommendation if asked. The only potential downside is that you may have to check in every once in awhile if youre looking for a specific title as a majority of the inventory is used books brought in and sold by other customers.

This chain has affordable books! We dont have these where we live, so we try to hit up as many as we can when they are near! This location is in a strip mall and has a good selection. You can find almost any book. They also have an online store and their staff is helpful.

Lots of fun books for kids and a decent selection otherwise. The kids section has places you can sit with your kiddos. Lots of fun games and toys too!

They have a wide selection of books to choose from that will satisfy all interests and age groups. HPB is a much more affordable alternative to Barnes and Noble. You can leave with a stack full of books and not feel like you spent too much. I love that you are able to sell books for cash. They may not give you much money back, but the convenience makes up for it, especially if you were planning on donating the books anyway.
