Great store for gift giving! There is a wide variety of general store products with a modern twist! A must stop!

This might be my new favorite spot in downtown OP. Awesome collection of gifts and home goods whether your are looking to treat yourself or someone else.

The two guys that own the cute shop are so nice, along with the rest of the staff. The sign above the door says curiosities, design, home that caught our eyes. Curiosities is an understatement, this place has some freakin hilarious gifts, cards and just about everything you could ever want but not need. Aside from some cards I didnt need to buy, I walked out with some jewelry I also didnt need to buy! Their jewelry is really unusual and really reasonably priced. If you need something lovely for you home or a place to pick up a gift, stop by and support these local store owners and say hi.

Whenever you visit downtown OP, you arent sure what youre going to find. I mainly venture that direction for the Peanut. During one of those visits, I stumbled into the General Store which was down the street. Basically, the place is KC love inside of a general store. Anything you could frame, wear, eat, and drink to proclaim your love of KC is to be found inside. Plus lots of other extras from around the country as well.From what I can tell (in the two times Ive been there), they rotates their stock pretty quickly. So, dont be surprised if something you are on the fence about is gone if you come back to purchase it.

If you never been their, you are really missing out! Nothing Creative, fun, unusual items, plus great items for K.C & all teams plus subdivisions

I was introduced to this exceptional place by a family member, who happened to grow up in Kansas City.Completely Awed and Delighted with this eclectic store. So much eccentric, unique, and, captivating merchandise, that It was difficult to choose a special gift for my daughters birthday. Luckily, I was offered a great keepsake, thanks to the owner. Its the kind of place where even if youre needing absolutely nothing, youll most likely walk out with something. They even randomly stock my favorite Malin and Goetz deodorant.

Classy and trashy stuff! Candles, soaps, books, socks, cards, towels. A modern day Spencers- type place, for grown-ups! Love this place!

General Store is one of the many, but best perks of visiting.Honestly, Ive done my all my big celebration day shopping here in downtown overland park, and I ALWAYS stop at the General Store. They have candles, jams, jewelry, socks... literally everything. I have never bought something I was disappointed in. In fact I have always found something g extra that I didnt know I needed but definitely did.

This is one of my favorite stores in Downtown Overland Park. It has such a unique array of products and the best cards you can find. This place is a hidden gem.

Incredibly unique store with a range of fun, surprising, and high quality gift items. I bought my 97 year old grandmother the best birthday card of her life here!

This is the perfect spot to knock out much of your gift shopping list. The owners have put together a thoughtfully curated collection of glassware, leather goods, jewelry, bath products, candles, and assorted gifts, many of which are made locally. I picked up birthday presents for several of my hard to shop for friends and snagged the most delicious-smelling Pickwick & Co. candle for myself. Oh, and Candy was a delight who gave us several restaurant, bar, and things to do recommendations during our weekend in KC. Definitely worth a look-see!

I love stores like The General Store. Local shops like this have unique, clever, tasteful gifts and run circles around box store experiences.As soon as you walk in, youll find Kansas specific gifts like cutting boards, mugs, pint glasses, shot glasses, all with a little different flair. There are also prints in the back, cards, candles, and some classic baby gifts.The owners are really friendly here and are totally plugged into the wonderful community that is downtown OP.

This place is really cool, I found most of the merchandise funny, but inappropriate. So, I decided to take one star off for that—sorry! The person at the register was nice and really helpful. Thanks for making my visit very pleasant!

Fun place to buy local made goods! They always have a great collection of KC shirts, which is kinda my favorite thing. They also have lots of great gifts for friends, family, or just yourself! As a local place they are a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for and the quality of everything Ive bought here has been excellent.

Such a fun store hidden away in beautiful downtown OP! I found out about this place today with a friend of mine. There are so many items to look at--most would make great gifts for every occasion. Its almost like hallmark on steroids but with less cards and more gifts--many are handmade or from local artisans in Kansas and Missouri. If you are ever in the area, you should drop by to visit this store.

What you notice in the General Store is that its the epitome of what Local Retail should be about. In a place like downtown OP, the Neighborhood Vibe (caps intentional) is important. And the General Store has it in spades. The shop is cozy and intuitively laid out. Its a place you LIKE to walk into.

You cannot walk into this store not smiling and confident in anything you buy. Perfect for gifts or your own kids/family! Customer service is great, the guys are all darling with expert guidance if you need it. You can find moderate to pricey items, i would not say everything is pricey like some of the reviews mention.

Very different merchandise for gifts. I knocked off a star due to the 18+ adult gifts that are inappropriate for children to see. I also didnt like the politically oriented items disparaging our President. That cost them another star. I will not buy merchandise or return to this store. Good luck to them.

Adorable! From the wine glass chandeliers to the First Lady paper doll books - this shop screams quirky and unique. Great for gifts. I live in Los Angeles and not easily impressed by much (yes, we are that jaded in LA), but this little store won me over. Clever, smart, and most importantly, great sense of humor.

I almost dont want to review the General Store because Im afraid if a bunch of people know about it, itll get all crowded. But I love the place so much, I cant shut up about it. First of all, theres the merchandise. I can buy a gift for anybody here. Ive tested it on men (straight ones, a group I never do well buying gifts for), relatives, coworkers, and even bosses. The thing that makes this place so special in my opinion though? The staff.

Love this place!!The General Store is one of my favorite stores. My husband and I popped in here yesterday looking to pick up some birthday gifts for family and we walked out with more than wed hoped for! I love the array of items they sell - food, clothing, prints, drinkware, wall hangings, magnets, etc. Everything is very well made and you can tell they are quality pieces. They also have some collegiate apparel (KU / K-State) and kids books. There truly is something for everyone!We will definitely be back!

Awesome store with a lot of locally made products. If you are looking for something unique COME HERE. I bought 2 books for my mother who resides in upstate NY that were about the tall grass prairie and the prairie burn. She has them on her table at home.

I ALWAYS go here for gifts for people. I never have a hard time finding great locally made items! The owner is super nice and so are the people who work there. Their selection changes often so dont wait to buy something.

I swing by this shop frequently, excentricity defines its wares and a pretty intense focus on locality. Forget those big chains, swing by here to find a great gift for a person who makes you say um idk what to getcha
