Can’t recommend Bear Dog Bicycles enough! When my husband’s brake rotor bent hours before our GAP trip they were the only shop able to help us! They didn’t have an off sized 140 replacement rotors but instead dropped everything and adapted the bike to fit a 160. We were able to complete our wild trip with 3 infants thanks to them! Thanks again!This shop is also in the business of assisting with easy bike shipping and reassembly for those who are biking the DC-PIT trail. You can easily bike here from any trail in the city. Stopped in with minimal knowledge/experience looking for an entry-level commuter bike, and felt like I was in great hands the entire time. Nathan was friendly, easy to work with, and clearly an expert mechanic. Really reasonable prices, total honesty about what I was getting for my money, and they seemed well-connected to the local bike scene...I’ll definitely be back for any repairs, adjustments, or accessories going forward. Good guys, great dogs.

By far the best bike shop in Pittsburgh..10 bucks for an innertube change on an e bike rear motor hub with innertube included....and they are such nice people as well..unlike the ripoff that happens at thick bikes..i had an innertube and just for the labor they charged me 50 plus tax to change my flat..if u live in Pittsburgh and have an ebike..dont waste your time anywhere else .goto 🐻 🐩 bikes ..its worth it!!!!!

Absolutely astonishing experience. Nathan and Peter are two of the most friendly, pleasant, and helpful guys Ive ever known, and Im lucky that I get to stop in there whenever I want (even if its just to pet Marley). They are experts in all things bicycles, safety, and most importantly people.

Bear Dog is the definition of your friendly neighborhood bike shop. I recently got into mountain biking and was having some issues with my brakes. These guys hooked it up during one of the busiest bike seasons ever. They went above and beyond to help me out. No doubt they’ll be my go to shop from here on!Oh and I’m glad they found their pup!

Hands down the best bike shop Ive been to in Pittsburgh. Peter and Nate are not only super knowledgeable, but very upfront with costs and repairs. Came in with two tacod wheels and a bent derailer hanger. Bear dog fixed it in no time and the cost was completely fair.

Great local bike shop. Close to western terminus of the Great Allegheny Passage. Only bike shop near north side of entire city and it has two great mechanics. Sells variety of inexpensive and can custom build bikes for you also!

I like the new location better! My daily commuter needed some TLC after a winter of potholes and road salt. They swapped out my wonky derailleur, replaced the chain and shifter cables, adjusted the brakes, and cleaned her up. Its like a new bike now! For a very fair price too... keep up the great work guys!

The most welcoming and helpful bike shop in the city. One of the guys (Nathan) took time to answer my questions and helped to clarify my understanding of mountain bike tech while the other guy worked on my bike. After my bike was tuned up the other guy (Peter) came out to talk with me about the work he did and my bike. Both Nathan and Peter were incredibly friendly and they made me feel at home in the shop. I encourage other bikers - roads and mountain folk alike - to check out this shop.

Friendly guys, great service, cool store. Dropped off a mountain bike that had been in storage for 15 years, they tuned it up to perfection. Put a new suspension fork on it for me for cheap. My old brakes didnt fit the new fork, so they gave me a brand new set of brakes... Said they were just some brakes they had sitting around in the parts bin, so they didnt charge me for them. They look brand new to me! Awesomeness. Will be taking my wifes bike in for the same tune-up treatment, soon. Highly recommended.

Peter and Nathan are so awesome and have helped me out a ton. The shop isnt in the most convenient location based on where I live, but Ive tried other bike shops in the Pittsburgh area, and this one is worth the extra miles for me. These guys are willing to answer my constant onslaught of questions that I come up with while doing DIY bike maintenance and are happy to step in when I cant figure something out. Also they have 2 shop dogs; hard to beat that.
