I cannot express enough how absolutely helpful and knowledgeable everyone in this store is! I’m new to caring for a ball python went in today with concerns as to why my snake hasn’t been eating, the person that helped me out (sorry I didn’t catch there name but man do I appreciate them) suggested I try live rodents considering my snake has all but refused frozen thawed, within a minute of the live mouse and my snake being together he ate no problem! I then just called about a safe way of cleaning a used tank and their advice is beyond helpful! 10/10 will be recommending this business to any and everyone who loves reptiles! Not only is the staff helpful but the store itself is clean and super cool! Go here if you have any questions or concerns about your animal!

I love this place because every time I go there I’m greeted with great customer service and quick too! They have so many T’s and Scorp’s! And Whip Scorps! I go there for all my feeders, and if they’re still around I’m coming for a mantis and a Socotra Island Blue legged baboon. They’re slings and scroplings are well taken care of. Come here if your serious about the Hobby. They will gladly help you! Thank you guys so much!

Edited review: Bought two Ball Pythons here in January. We breed numerous species and Im always on the lookout for nice morphs and supporting private businesses. The store was nice and clean. One snake looked healthy but the other was malnourished, dry, and looked in bad shape. Its been 9 months later and both snakes are thriving. The skinny one had to be assist fed for almost five months but she pulled through. The worst thing was both snakes had mites. We quarantine all new animals (used to be only for 30 days, but after this experience a minimum of 90 days). The 30 day quarantine wasnt enough and those two snakes spread the mites through our entire collection. Tons of money on supplies, daily treatments and hours of cleaning were might free but it took 4.5 months... those two snakes were definitely the culprits. They were the first two snakes we bought in a very long time and both had visual mites first. I know a lot of reptile people in Texas and this store is known for having mites and animals having feeding issues. I believe Dav Kaufman did a video here. Dont fall for it.

I bought a corn snake from here and after 4 days, it died. Nobody in the store has any authority over situations like this and the only person who can make any decision is Greg (Im assuming the owner). After Greg emailed me back (asking for pictures of the set up and temperatures inside the tank). He never responded back. I made mutliple calls to the store, he was always unavailable. We are still unsure what caused the snakes death but the lack of response from the store shows they are lacking in customer service. I could have cared less about the refund its more the fact that Greg never made an effort to speak with me about the situation and only avoided me. The funny thing about all of this is the live pinkie I bought from the SERPETARIUM in Richardson lived longer than the actual snake. I will buy my new snake from the SERPETARIUM.

First off I want to start off by saying that they sell different kinds of exotic pets here. From Reptiles to amphibians and even some other odd critters! I drove all the way from Fort worth. I drove an hour and let me explain why this was worth it! I walked into the store on a Friday evening in search of Blue Poison Dart frogs. My first impression was the size of the store! Really good sized location and such a great selection. Of live plants for Bioactive enclosures! They have mister systems and humidifiers for those who love to take care of your pets on an automatic clock. They also carry feeder Rodents and insects for you to choose from mice/rats. And crickets and fruitflies. That was my first impression. I take a look around and see the different enclosures and amazing paladariums they have setup! These guys are not just selling you pets, they care for them! Literally all of the enclosures look like a work of art! Live plants and some larger display habitats even have waterfalls, with arboreal branches in the high tanks, land area, and a water section for aquatic species all within the same tank! This really takes skills and patience to make living art! I finally get to their amphibian section and notice all the different Dart frogs. Im pretty sure this is the only store that carries dart frogs for sale in the metroplex. I was then ready to make my selection and I asked for help and a younger gentleman in his early 20s assisted me.Nathan was his name! He was assisting another customer looking to buy a feeder live rat for a boa. He finished helping her and immediately assisted me with my purchase. I bought 2 blue poison dart frogs. I bought the last two that they had! This was a sign! Nathan was very very knowledgeable he has breeded other dart frogs and helped me get the frogs. He gives a some helpful hints and answers some questions on feeding and culture mixes. I had already been doing research on these guys. He brings me my two little blue friends and a live producing fruitfly culture and off they go with me to their new home! Amazing customer service! A five star pet store, not just reptiles but more!

Today was our first time in the store. We loved all of the reptiles and the birds and the selection of reptile tanks and necessities. What we didn’t like was, paying triple the price we normally do for crickets, getting home (25+ minutes from the store) and realizing we were shorted. I have 4 tanks to feed and barely had enough to split between two. Super frustrating.

I keep reptiles so I can understand human error is a big part of life and what we have to work with as keepers. But the past two visits have been truly morbid. A few weeks ago we saw a dead leopard gecko in one enclosure, and after convincing my partner to give it another try we show up yesterday to a slew of malnourished lizards including two completely dead chameleons in the same enclosure. When we told a store employee they told their manager just to be laughed at and asked “why even tell me throw it in the trash.”

Genuinely one of the most interesting store fronts to visit in the Far North Dallas area. The variety is vast and the idea that most of these animals are here to find a new home is an awesome one as this resembles a rescue center / herpitarium exhibit rather than a store front which I find commendable.Highly recommend a visit even if you arent in the market for a baby dinosaur. Theyre one of the few places that carries a wide variety of repashy foods and the terrarium supplies are excellent. I can get leaf litter, cork, seed pods, sphagnum moss, the works, all for reasonable prices. I also really appreciate that the animal enclosures are species appropriate and kept clean, with a good amount of bioactive enclosures, as well. Ive been a few times, usually to get tank decorations. Its a 45 minute drive from my house so not super close. Ive had decent experiences in the past, but my last experience wasnt great. I went in to buy some feeder mice and asked the employee for mice that were roughly 30-35 grams. I wasnt sure exactly what size that was, its at the upper end of adult and lower end of extra large. I got charged $52 for 25 mice, which is already twice the price from the major vendors like Big Cheese Rodent Factory or Houston Rodent Supply. After I paid I waited for a minute then got handed an open bag of mice, like not even a ziploc bag. I had to run to the Aldi next door to get something to put them in so I didnt have to worry about them spilling out in my car.I get home, freeze the mice, then drive back down to college. When it was time to feed my snake, I got a mouse out and weighed it only to find it was tiny. This mouse was 13 grams. I checked the rest of them and found 11 of the 25 were under 17 grams. Four were under 15 grams, which is less than half the weight I asked for. None of them were above 23 grams. Im aware the employees cant weigh them all but this was ridiculous. I contacted the Reptarium and they told me theyd been selling smaller and smaller mice due to high demand. Clearly they know theyre selling on the small side and arent telling people when theyre selling them, and when called out on this they tried to justify it. If they told me that the mice ran small when I was buying, Id at least know to get the next size up if possible, or to not buy them. Instead, I paid $52 for less than half of what I ordered and a quarter of what Id get from anyone else.If I went to McDonalds and bought a double cheeseburger, and they gave me 1 patty and no top bun, Id demand a refund. They wouldnt tell me theres a bun shortage, deal with it. No refunds. They need to be upfront with what theyre doing. If you cant sell adult mice, tell me when I try to buy adult mice. Dont slip me large hoppers and hope I dont notice. So if you want to bring your kids and show them cool animals, maybe buy a piece of cork, then this place is 5/5. Its odd that there was such an issue with this and that they refused to even address my complaint. Also the springtail culture I bought only had like 10 adults. Not really an issue just annoying.Edit regarding their response:I was offered 12 jumbo mice for free next time Im in the store. They told me this after I originally posted the review, which is why it wasnt mentioned. I also cant really get those mice because Im 3.5 hours away. They never told me no refunds, that comment was about the practicality of returning frozen mice 3.5 hours away, 2 weeks after I bought them. Id be surprised if I walked into the store with the bag and they gave me a refund but if thats wrong, I apologize.

Look, I love this place and its a fun experience for the family...I dont usually leave reviews but the recent price gouging has turned me off completely. Theyve become money grabbers and its quite noticeable.... theres no need for the abundance of cost increases Ive seen in this store.. I understand that new hobbiest are popping up at much higher rates due to an increase in personal time (global pandemic).. but supplies are not short and there is plenty available for the demand. Theyre constantly stocking appropriately and still gouging. Everything online has stayed roughly the same price except for a small increase in shipping costs for live animals ($5-$10 per order) and if your ordering in bulk it doesnt justify increasing every single item by $5-$10 and even more on certain things.. $50 for a ghost mantis nymph.. you are out of your ever loving minds! Unfortunately, for the cost of driving out there and the increase in their stock, its just more cost effective to order online now.. iso grub products $20??? Not to mention I overheard one of the employees being so rude to someone asking about the cork bark prices per lb.. just keep in mind that when the crowd fades, true animal enthusiasts will not appreciate getting taken advantage of during these times.

Just left the Reptarium and I left feeling super uncomfortable! After we got our feeders, my husband and kids were checking out all the reptiles like we always do and as we were looking at the Chinese Water Dragon we noticed that his mouth/ nose looked sore so as a concerned Vet tech I wanted to make sure he wasn’t in pain! On our way out we stopped one of the workers and asked if the knew that the dragon had the sore and he rudely and quickly snapped back with a “yea why wouldn’t we, he’s our dragon!?” First of all how rude and secondly how unprofessional!! We were just genuinely concerned about his well being and wanted to make sure that they were aware of the situation! The only reason I gave 3 stars is because after he snapped and realized we weren’t coming at him he took a couple minutes to educate us and let us know why it was like that and that it was normal for him to look like that! I just feel like the situation could have been handled differently and I will be sure to not ask anymore questions when I’m there so I don’t get snapped at again!

Nice store with a lot of cool animals and products, but I probably wont go back.I bought a ball python from here last month. Shes doing great so far and is perfectly healthy- no complaints there. You could almost certainly find better prices at a reptile show or on morph market, but I didnt want to wait for a show, and the last time I got a reptile off Morph Market, Fed Ex deemed it appropriate to put her in the amazon lockers at my apartment complex in the middle of Texas summer (thankfully I was home and got her out right away and shes fine), so I didnt want to deal with that. Here are the issues that I have with this store:Covid 19 related- theres a sign on the door that they will only allow X number of people in at a time. Whether or not they adhere to that, I have no idea- I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they do. But this store is SO cramped that its extraordinarily difficult to maintain social distancing. There seemed to be a lot of people in there when I went but its not like I counted so who knows. I honestly would not go back until this all dies down based off of this alone- it felt very risky to me.Customer service- I try to not have a negative outlook of a place based on customer service, because honestly, it can vary so much. You might get someone whos having a bad day, or someone who is new, or someone who has something difficult going on in their life. Anyway. The lady that helped me was nice enough, seemed sweet and wasnt rude or anything, but offered me almost zero information. I actually think that my experience with her is probably not the norm for this place, considering what Ive read in other reviews. She just asked if I already had a tank ready and I said yes. No further questions like, how big, what do you have for heating/substrate/etc. This isnt a huge deal- I spent time doing my own research beforehand and its my responsibility to take care of my pet, not theirs. But it was pretty much the same as going to buy a pet from Petco, and I kind of expected more. No information about the ball python was offered to me; thankfully I knew enough to ask what she was eating, when she had last eaten, and that sort of thing, but if I hadnt asked, I dont think she would have told me any of that. But again, I think my experience was probably not the norm and perhaps she was new or distracted or w/e (they were pretty busy when I went in).Overall this place is okay but I probably wont be back. YMMV, this was just my experience.

Ohhhhh boy. Where do I start? My boyfriend and I traveled in from about 2 hours away and, as reptile enthusiasts, decided to check out the DFW Reptarium. Everything seemed nice for the first couple of minutes spent in the store. That went downhill pretty quick. I noticed pretty quickly that one of the young corn snakes was infested with mites. We informed an employee, to which his response was “oh thanks. We have people coming in later to film for YouTube and that wouldn’t look good.” No further action was taken for the animal while we were present, even after the store owner was also informed. We then asked to see a couple of animals closer with intent to purchase. No preventative measures, such as disinfecting one’s hands between animals, were taken by employees. We ended up taking home two snakes. A bull snake with presumed scale rot, and a columbian rainbow boa that was infested with mites. We will NOT be returning, nor will we EVER be recommending this place to anybody. There is ZERO excuse for husbandry at this poor of level.

Their arboreal and terrestrial species seem extremely content and for the most part well cared for; however, the aquatic axolotl was in horrific condition. No attention was paid to the minimum necessary space, appropriate water temperature or quality, or enrichment needed for the animal. I was so shocked by the lack of care given to the creature that I simply walked out of the store without buying what I had come for. Axolotls have a lot of physical tells to alert a keeper of poor care; see the small, shriveled gills, discolored patches of skin, and chunks missing out of the tail. While I understand the other animals in the store need higher temperatures, axolotls require water at a maximum of 68°F or their organs will slowly fail. Please only house and sell animals for which you can properly care in the store.Response: No actually, they do not do fine in the low 70s. While heat stress sets in at 75°, anything over 68° for an extended period of time exacerbates any chemical imbalance in the water which can cause breathing problems, organ problems and skin burns, and any temp over 68° is prime for fungal growth which needs immediate attention. If the animal came in in such awful condition the proper response would be to either fridge or tea bath the animal intermittently, and having a comfortable enclosure to return it to. Not to be placed in a tupperware with 3 inches of water on the bottom of a shelf with no aeration, no temperature control, and no enrichment. The animal was for sale in this condition with an $80 price tag, which also alerts me to the lack of knowledge of axolotls by the staff as an adult melanoid axolotl is usually $30-$50, and one in such condition wouldnt even be that much.

This store is also the place to go for special advice on reptiles. Something you would be lucky to find in a large retail chain. They havent let me down yet.

This place was super busy but with good reason, its an awesome store. They have lots of healthy animals, cool items for the kids, and an awesome selection of enclosures and accessories. There was a staff member with green hair that helped me look at the snakes they had available for sale. They did an awesome job ♡♡

Save your time and money, staff here are weird, and only seem to be interested if youre a regular, or spending a lot of money. Go to the Serpentatium on 75 instead.

Do not do business here!! I spent about 900 dollars there on 2 snakes about a month ago. Today a gentlemen hung up on me on the phone when I was asking a simply question regarding feeding. Because of this I would like the owner to know that he needs to drug test his employees. The girl that sold me the snakes was very nice but clearly on adderal or cocain, tweaking hard, sweating, and shaking immensely. Thanks for hanging up!

After the freeze, it was the ONLY place that had dubia roaches. I went in for a quick... stayed 30 minutes just looking at lovely reptiles. I will definitely be back for a beardy soon!

Had a great experience as I have had in the past. I was asked numerous times if I needed any help and it was super busy Saturday. The young man who helped me was extremely knowledgeable about tarantulas and I ended up buying 2 tarantulas for may collection. Thanks for the great customer service and cya again soon! The young mans name I believe was Ethan. I also failed to mention that 3 other employees greeted me as I browsed. Thanks again!

I purchased my first ball python from DFW Reptarium in October ‘19. I thoroughly enjoyed having Lana and she was at the point of outgrowing her enclosure. Once I had her moved into a bigger enclosure, I quickly and unhesitatingly made the decision to get another ball python as I knew having another one would add more joy to my experience with these snakes. I purchased a baby cinnamon spinner in Dec. ‘20 that was almost 4 months under care of DFW Reptarium (via care card given to me after purchase). Not but four days of having her home, I started to realize (along w friends/family) that she was strange in her movements and had a distinct wobble when trying to move upwards/downwards. I was already aware that the spider morph is notorious for having neurological issues, and made sure she was not spider upon purchase. I would never want to finance anybody that knowingly breeds and sales animals that are likely to have issues as such. Four weeks pass and she refused to eat both live/frozen-thawed, and after consulting local snake owners/pet stores I was primarily told that she might just need time to “settle-in”. I came home from the gym last night to find that she was dead. Her husbandry was spot-on and I did everything I could to make her feel comfortable in her new home. I called DFW Reptarium today, explaining this situation and was promptly told that “because it has been a month, and our “health” policy is only 72hrs, we cannot give you a replacement snake”. I don’t want money. I don’t want a snake of equal monetary value. I just want a healthy snake and feel that I am not asking for much considering the revenues places like this reptarium make. After that, I was told that I should’ve called sooner, as if it would’ve made a difference considering they would only fall back on their 72hr “health” policy. It is clear to me that these people only care about monetizing these animals, and not the animals themselves. I paid $400+ and was only asking for a healthy snake considering the outcome of my situation. No money. No snake of value even close to what I paid. I just wanted a snake that was healthy, and that was something they deemed unreasonable to fulfill. Avoid buying pets here.

So I went there today to buy some Christmas stuff for my daughter. Since I have anxiety and cannot wear a mask I am exempt from wearing one. It is not a law to wear a mask, it is a recommendation. When I informed the employee I was exempt and I couldn’t wear one he Told Me I had to leave. There was multiple other customers in the store that were not wearing masks either. I can promise you this, I will never go back to this store or any other DFW Reptarium ever again. Thanks and I will spend my money somewhere else.....

Drove over 2 hours to come here. It was a neat place and a cool experience in the store. I would definitely recommend it for families. Prices on supplies were fairly comparable to anywhere else. Prices on reptiles seemed fairly comparable as well. I was not mad about that at all! What drove me to give only 2 stars? THEIR BUGS. While I am not new at reptiles, I AM new at bugs. I have had a dubia colony for a while, but I decided to expand into isopods and hissers because they are super interesting! I hadnt done a ton of research (that is my mistake) on the bugs I wanted and what to look for, but I thought hey, its a bug, what does it matter!! Well, turns out, their $24.99 halloween hisser pair is 1. not a deal and 2. one of them wasnt a halloween at all. Things I should have done - not trusted this shop to give me 2 CORRECT bugs for $24.99. They gave me one madagascar and one halloween hisser. I didnt realize this until I went to a reptile show and picked up a couple more halloweens (for less than 1/4 the price at DFW I might add) and said huh, I 100% know now that the second one was a Madagascar (that they charge $6 for). They literally put 2 different species of roaches into a container and said eh thats fine. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe she just hadnt molted yet and gotten her colors, or maybe its a darker variation but my suspicions were put into stone this past weekend.I also purchased a couple other species of isopods and roaches. My bad on that too.I got a small starter colony of horseshoe crabs roaches. One adult was dead by the next day. I went online to order a couple nymphs to grow out and low and behold I paid THE SAME PRICE for 30 almost adult roaches that I paid for four. FOUR. at DFW Reptarium.I also got a couple of isopod species. I asked prices and the lady that helped me said nothing over $35 so I told her that I would like a colony of clowns and a colony of powder blues. While the colonies are fine and healthy, the clowns were SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS. for TEN. I was blown away when my price came up but i literally was too afraid to tell her to take them off. You cannot tell me that I could not get them for that price. I looked online when i got home - they are all over the internet for WAY cheaper than that! They arent even a really rare species, they are fairly popular! I could see had I gotten rubber duckies or pandas or really any cubaris species them being that price but clowns?!!???! I am the stupid one for that! I also went to a reptile show this past weekend and the prices were so so much less.I messaged on facebook - they did answer - but told me that its not worth getting upset over and mistakes happen. The prices? mistake. The wrong bug when theres only 2 bugs? INEXCUSABLE. They said next time i am in town to get a replacement. Uh, I dont go to Dallas and literally made a special trip to go here.moral of the story - do price research before you go. do NOT buy pet bugs here. You WILL overpay.
