Abby was the mechanic that worked on my bike and could not have been more awesome. Super nice, quick to coordinate with and call about pricing and issues, and was able to get me through the door WAY quicker than any other shop in the Portland area. Seriously, everyone else was quoting me at least a three week turn around. This whole ordeal was done in less than a week.Top notch Sellwood Cycle Repair; Abby deserves a holiday or something for her services.

I loved my experience at Sellwood Cycles and i will definitely return for repairs etc. i had to go in a few times to find the right bicycle for me and staff were very accommodating. some staff are quite young but clearly very knowledgeable and helpful. each time i’ve been here there has been a wait (they now allow customers in the shop), and this was the same regardless of the time i went in.

I love the fact that they have a special window on the side of the building for taking in bicycles. They will even do sorry repaired right there enjoyed you wait so that you dont need to go inside for them.

Pace at Sellwood Cycle Repair gave me invaluable advice when I was in the market for adding child-carrying accessories to my Kona cargo bicycle. Its tricky to strike the right balance between kid safety and a tight budget, but I truly appreciated the no-pressure, honest information about the options available. Plus, they had the right parts in stock! The purchases I made have really made all the difference my fun-filled rides with young children.

What a great shop! Even though I rolled in on a fancy custom bike, with Record 11 like the old poser that I am, I was still treated very respectfully and professionally. At another shop across town half the mechanics seem like a bunch of punks with an attitude problem. The mechanic at Sellwood Cycles worked really hard to get my rear cable replaced on the spot, and honestly its shifting better than when the bike was new. Thank you! #notjerks

Erik, the owner, went above and beyond to help me get my son his first mountain bike. He obviously was knowledgeable, but more importantly, he was passionate about finding the right bike for him. He ordered, built, and shipped the bike to us in Illinois. Then he walked us through with pictures and on the phone the way to finish the assembly of the bike from it being shipped. He also talked my son through things he should check for while riding and the best way to use his bike. His customer service far exceeded any expectations I would have had. Brought my bike in to have a new chainring installed as well as a brake squeak problem fixed. When I picked up the bike the brake problem was not addressed and I received a quote for a new group set that I didn’t ask for and they charged me $20 to build the quote! Also the bike was covered in grease marks. I took the bike straight to trek Moreland and they actually addressed my issues and we got the bike all fixed after the bike being at Sellwood cycles for almost 2 weeks. I know we’re I’m talking my bike locally from now on.

I have brought two bikes here for freshening up and totally worth it. The bikes went from fine I will ride to okay when and how can I ride. The team did not upsell but rather treated me honest repairing and replacing what I needed to make my ride feel snappy again. This review is the least I could to say thank you.

They charge a builders fee. Depending on how much the bike coat is how much they charge to put ot together on top of how much the bike cost.

Went here to get our stroller fixed for the little one and wife. $20 to fix a tube and fill all 3 wheels was a little much in my mind but they where professional and did a great job. It is a Bob stroller so $20 to have it fixed was well worth it. Hence the 5 stars.Thank you SCR!

This is a great bike shop. During the Pandemic, I was able to buy my daughter a Kona. Including test rides and all with social distancing being practiced. The customer service is outstanding. The real test was when there was an issue, it was resolved without any issues. If you want a Kona, its a great place to go.

Purchased a used-like-new 2012 Kona Unit custom from Jason and the folks at Sellwood Cycle. Very comfortable and pleasant experience. Jason went above and beyond with helping me by sending pictures of many angles on the crankset as I am converting this into an ebike. That took a lot of the worry out of my purchase (fitment, spacing, etc...), and I am now beyond excited to get on the road!

I walked in on a busy Sat. to pump up my bicycle tires. I asked about the cost of a tune-up and Jason said he could take a quick look. He took the bike off the rack that he was working on to take care of me right away. There were some minor adjustments that needed to be done and some recommendations. I walked out in about a half hour with a better running bike. I was so glad my tires were low so I was forced to stop in. I can say the service was top notch and I especially appreciate Jason taking the time to talk to an inexperienced cyclist.

I love this shop! I’m new to cycling, and last year Brenna helped me find my beginner bike, and this year Clara helped me with a new bike, and was so patient when I asked to ride each bike multiple times. Everyone here is so friendly and knowledgeable and super patient with newbies like me! I have been into other bike shops and the vibe here is top notch. Highly recommend!!

Sellwood Cycle Repair lives up to the hype! I decided to buy my 11 year old son a bicycle during COVID-19 so he wouldnt be sitting home alone during the school closures while I was away from home working every day. I checked Walmart and Target stores for a bike for him but didnt find anything. I called SCR and spoke to Bryan Reynolds about my situation. He suggested an ATX Giant, which my son loves. He reserved the bike for my son and called me to pick it up when it was assembled. Casey adjusted the seat for my son and we were on our way! I was afraid that Bryan would take advantage of my lack of knowledge about bikes, but he made an excellent selection for my son. I was so pleased, that I asked Bryan to select a bike for me, too. He picked an LIV Alright 3. Again, he called me when it was assembled and I picked it. I rode it around for a day, but had to call him at the store and tell him that the frame was too small. I was afraid he was going to give me grief about it and try to convince me that it was the right choice, but he didnt. He didnt hassle me at all. I returned the bike and he gave me another one with a larger frame. No hassle whatsoever! The service is TOP of the LINE! Bryan went above and beyond to provide me with an excellent bike that I can use for years to come. I am so grateful! Thank you. Thank you.

Awesome bike shop! Hands down, the best service Ive received in a Portland area shop. Over the phone or in person they are always happy to help and talk about bikes to make sure I get taken care of. They have a good selection of new and used bikes and components and a nice rental fleet if youre visiting from out of town or just want to try out a different type of bike for a few days. I highly recommend this shop whether youre thinking of getting a bike for the first time or if you have a bunch of bikes and need good mechanics to keep them rolling.

Been to a lot of bike shops, this place is SO GREAT. No patronizing because youre not uber fit, have a low end or Target brand bike, or arent exactly sure what a derailleur is. My friend has a bike thats been sitting in her barn for 5 yrs, they treated it just as well as any other bike that someone paid thousands for. I really appreciate these people!! Reasonable prices, and they go the extra mile for their customers.

The knowledge and kindness of every employee blew me away. There were no here to greet or push a sale folks. They are all wonderful. They helped guide my husband through which bike was ideal for him - matching prince range and criteria that he cared about. While they didnt have the right bike ready, they offered to build one and we will be back. Even if thats not the winner, we will ultimately select his and and other future bikes from this store to support their great business.

This shop and everyone in it, that I have had contact with, should get a minimum of 5 stars. Warm, welcoming, extremely knowledgeable and without the pretentiousness I find at too many other bicycle shops. You owe it to yourself to try them out.

Had them build a brand new bike shipped to me. Got the gears and brakes dialed in great. Id give 5 stars but they put a 1 inch scratch on the frame. Super friendly staff. Ill keep taking my bike there.

Came into town for a week visiting family in August. I rented a nice Giant RB with Ultegra parts and it was fantastic. Guys were helpful in discussing various routes and the area. Put in a 95 mile ride to the coast and everything worked great!! The shop was bustling with activity and positive energy. Right next to the best bakery in town which doesnt hurt.

My husband and I came here both looking to purchase bikes. The staff was able to show us several options well within our price range with no pressure to exceed what we had stated that we were willing to spend. We both found bikes we were happy with and then picked out a few accessories that they installed for us at no charge. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and very helpful. We felt comfortable shopping and asking questions despite being pretty new to biking.

I came in with a goofy little bike & no idea what Im doing, and the team here set me up wonderfully for a great deal and quick, on the spot maintenance, as well as being kind enough to let me watch along! They also made use of used parts & the spares generated from my own project, something I always love to see

Theres a good selection of used bikes for those looking, and a nice selection of eye candy bikes to drool over and plan on getting.And, they are cyclists. They all ride, you can tell. This is the only shop my family goes to.

Sellwood Cycle stands behind their work. I had some repair done... and then had a problem. I took the bike back and (even though some time had passed) they immediately made it right. They re-did the repair, including replacement parts, and had my bike ready the same afternoon, even though I didnt have an appointment. I depend on my bikes. I will definitely return whenever I need work done.

I love my Kona Jake the Snake! I was looking for a fun do it all bike that I can commute with and they recommended the Jake. I’m always greeted by friendly staff and get great service. When I purchased my Bike they help fit me to the bike and swapped out my bars and stem for free.About 200 miles in on my new bike, I started hearing a squeak and it turned out that my rear hub was defective. They unfortunately did not have the part in stock which would have put me in a pickle because this is my daily commuter. They tried a couple of options and in the end one of the staff actually donated their own wheel for me to use while mine was being warrantied. How awesome is that? It’s a bummer that the hub was defective but that stuff does happen, and they definitely did all of they could to make right something that isn’t even in their control.Great service, no snobby attitudes or judgements, friendly people, great products!

I came into this shop having perused their online inventory (super handy!) looking for a used road bike of some sort, but not entirely sure of what I wanted. Not knowing the first thing about cycling, I was so grateful that the staff educated me on the difference in frames, types of brakes, types of gear shifters, and the like. After a couple hours of test rides and lots of questions, I walked away that day with a lovely used cyclocross bike with a comfortable new saddle, added fenders and pedals and fitted perfectly to me. I couldnt speak more highly of a bike shop in Portland, plus their Instagram ROCKS!
