I give Dr.N four stars, but the majority of the staff and their ethics, Ill give two stars. Some of the staff was friendly and helpful, but the others not so much. I dont want to raise my blood pressure by going into detail. But, I will say that they slacked on following thru with contacting me. I waited two weeks after being told not more than a week that both my glasses would be ready. I finally called concerned. Finally got thru after multiple attempts. When told that they sent a text message the next day that they were ready, I never got. So while on phone I checked my messages again and there wasnt a message; I was told that they have been having issues with their texts sending. My question is, if you knew that why not just do a follow up call to see if I got the text or even sent an email since thats on file too? Why not check the status knowing Ive been waiting and needed them, especially two pairs and having killer migraines. See I needed bifocals (or two different glasses since my eyes are deteriorating. Like I said, Dr.N is great, but majority of the staff sucks. I couldnt try the glasses till balance was paid, which was dumb, what if I didnt want to pay balance cause they werent right? But since I need a pair each for close and distance, the staff couldnt even tell me which I needed to watch TV; obviously they took a guess because the ones I was told to use were the wrong ones after getting home and testing compared to the other glasses. And, Ive never received glasses before with being given an eye glass protective case which was fine, but I thought it was weird tho that I was given a cleaning cloth. Anyhow, Dr.N was great, but most of his staff not so much. Theyre ethics and attitude sucked!!

This was my first time going to the optometrist independently. My mom usually handled everything and I hadn’t had a checkup since I was 18, so two years later I figured I was due for a checkup. I usually went up to San Antonio to get my eyes checked, but since I moved to Portland, I wanted to find a doctor close by, and found Dr. Nguyen. He was extremely friendly, easy to talk to, and answered any questions I had. The staff was also equally as friendly and understanding. I’m looking forward to going to him long-term for my checkups.

I do not live in the area and found Dr. Nguyen through my Insurance Providers Listing. I was pleased to be able to get a quick appointment that worked well with my schedule. I was greeted promptly by his friendly and professional staff. During my exam the Tech was very cordial and made my visit very comfortable. (I have experienced some Doctor visit In the pasted that the Techs/Nurses never even smile which made the visit uncomfortable) So it was very nice to feel welcomed from the moment I walked in. Dr. Nguyen was very friendly, providing much needed education on my eye condition and helping me to make an educated decision on my contact lens purchase. I would highly recommend Wavefront Eyecare & Optical on the Excellent Experience I received from Dr. Nguyen and his Exceptional Staff!

Ill start off with the good: Nice store. Got my glasses on time. My appointment went smoothly. Staff was professional and nice except for one. After I picked up my glasses at the front counter, I asked if I could get them adjusted. She directed me to the other employee that was in front of the displayed glasses. I went over there and asked the same thing. I told her because of the shape of my nose, glasses are always sliding down. She adjusted the pads, and I asked her to do a bit more. She adjusted them to the point where the pads were no longer flat against my nose but were literally standing on my nose with the bottom edge of the pads. She asked if they were all right. Was she mocking me or serious? I honestly have no idea. I told her the issue. She fixed it, and I just left. I didnt even bother asking her to bend the glasses arms to curve to my ear. By the way, I was the only one in the store. I ended up going to a chain store that happily adjusted my glasses for free without me directing her how to do it. I also found the same model glasses for cheaper there, even though Wavefront gave me a discount without me asking for it (which was a nice gesture). Now, to be fair, it could just be the model I picked that was cheaper. All in all, perhaps this was a one-off experience with Wavefront, but I wont be going back.

I have always had a great experience here. They have taken care of all my needs. They specialize in glaucoma which is a bonus. Both doctors are super nice. I would recommend them to anyone.

You know, I was ready to go with 1 star here, but after reading all the other great reviews Ive reconsidered. I would like to relate my story of what must have been an off day or two by the staff.When I registered as a new patient I gave them all my insurance information. I noticed the price was about $100 more than I am accustomed to paying. I chalked that up to prices increasing. The glasses were delayed by several days - lab issue. Upon picking them up I was notified of a balance due. I asked if they had used both my primary and secondary insurance. When told they had only used my secondary I inquired why and was referred to another employee, presumably someone who escalated issue go to for resolution. When I explained the situation (Primary - MetLife, Supplement - VSP) the employee told me they did not put it through my primary. I asked if they accept my primary and was told yes, but were not using it in this case. She then continued to argue with me and told me my primary was a medical policy and didnt cover vision. I had to go home, print out my plans coverage and return to deal with yet another person. They verified my insurance and did not collect the balance due. Now I wonder if I overpaid them with my initial 50% down. I guess Ill have to wait for my insurance to send me the summary so I can check it out. To me, this is a lot of trouble to go through when there are others out there that I cant help but think would have done this right in the first place. Based on my personal experience I can not recommend these folks.

Absolutely outstanding! Service, staff, pricing, knowledge...everything.First set of bifocals about 1-2 yr ago with another Dr. I went back in to have him double check the Rx was correct, which he said it was. Very difficult to adjust to, but did. Ruined my distance vision in the process. Went in to Wavefront today and, without telling Dr. about my previous experience with another Dr, she said my current glasses Rx had twice the strength I needed for astigmatism, and she reduced the strength. SO.MUCH.BETTER!! Wish I had known about Jordan/Nguyen and that they were so competent. All machines/tech seems to be current, office staff is terriffic. Couldnt be happier! Thanks Docs!!

I did not get my screening done here but brought in my prescription from another optometrists office.I didn’t like how they don’t take proper measurements on your face to make sure the glasses will fit your face or the circumference of your head. When I spoke to them about my glasses being kinda slanted they took my glasses to the back somewhere and fixed them. They still came back slanted. I’m use to a professional measuring and adjusting my glasses to make sure it fits properly before I leave here I felt like they wanted me to do it myself. I will not be returning. Other then the one complaint I had which is a major one for me everything else about this place was good.

Very nice and friendly staff. I had great help selecting frames to fit me and my style. Very thorough and friendly exam. Everyone treated me more as a long time friend rather than just another customer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Second visit. Dr Nguyen is great. Very professional and knowledgeable. The office is nicely laid out and clean with a good selection of frames. Some areas of improvement are: 1. Maybe hire another optician so people wont have to stand around and wait and 2. Maybe train the other employees better in adjusting glasses. Those are minor details though, the only real problem was that when I picked up my new glasses, the right lens already had a scratch. They graciously agreed to order replacement lenses, but I do think they should have noticed this before I picked them up.Overall, very highly recommended.

The eye exam was awesome. But after picking up my glasses and coming back to ask if they could adjust them the three girls working the front desk were rude. I ended up going to Walmart and getting them adjusted. I will never go back.

I made my appointment but had a few questions about the fees. The lady that I was dealing with did not have the answers so she asked a co-worker for assistance. The co-worker was so incredibly rude to me. She told me several times that I can make my apt or go somewhere else. (I had already maybe my apt, I just had a few questions.) She raised her voice at me, rolling her eyes and everything. I asked her for her name, she refused to give it to me. I told her that is fine, I would be able to describe her pretty well. She replied back, Im sure you could, most people do. I let her know that she is absolutely rude and that I would not be using them. She didnt care. I did take a picture of her. I will be letting someone above her know how she treats her customers.

We have always been happy going to this Eye Dr. My middle son originally came first and highly recommended him to me where I then took my younger son, whom which he really like the Dr. as well. From there I recommended my Mom and she is very happy as well. This Dr. is very compassionate and seems to really care about his patients and wants to take care of them. I recommend you give him a try...

Dr. Nguyen had great energy and explained everything well. Staff were nice and accommodating. They offer a few frames on special without the use of insurance. Relatively broad selection of frames otherwise. Plenty of well-trained staff members to help keep appointments on time and running smoothly.

Had I gone to my regular optometrist in CC I would have paid $30. Co Pay for both myself and spouse. I gave my Insurance info over the phone to receptionist, They never told me they were out of network for me, just said yes, accept the insurance. Charged 189.00 (although reported 164 to my insurance,) and filed it as a medical claim. and now that states I owe another 55.00. Never asked for a copy of my card when I got there, Dr. Nguyen was very nice. Too bad I cant keep him. Make sure you ask LOTS of questions. When I asked about the high charge upon leaving, the girl said insurance only covered 35.00. Shame on me, I should have been more aware, fool me once. Not twice. Wont be back.

I have experienced some significant eye issues. Dr. Nguyen tested my eyes and then referred me to a specialist and then retested my eyes after I visited the referral doctor and thoroughly reviewed the results from his tests and from the referral. He is very thorough and clearly explained my eye problems and options. I highly recommend Dr. Nguyen for his professionalism and dedication to results for his patients.

Dr. Nguyen is awesome! My daughter was scare to have her eyes done, but he talked to her until she was comfortable with it. He explained to her, so she can understand, how to take care of her glasses and how to look through them. He is very knowledgeable in the care that he provides. This is all very important since my daughter is only 5 years old. I will take her to him again. Thanks Dr. Nguyen!

I gave review 1 Star as 0 was not an option,I had appt this morning 3/25/20 went in she first says no I don’t have appt, I get phone show her I confirmed, seemed mad she got proven wrong, I was 1st patient in the office but was then told fill out this paper and oh if you will since they are here before you can you go outside to fill this out, ummm no they was not in here first.Love the Dr and I hope he sees this and calls me to fix the issue, some of the staff lately has been rude, clearly he is not in office yet as they don’t act that way then. Just one word to describe this place, Awesome! The doctors really know what they doing and the staffs are helpful. Dr. Nguyen really took his time in exam my eyes and make some recommendation that really helpful. His staffs also really good in helping me find a great pair of glasses that fit both my eyes and budget :)

My 7 year old had an appointment to have his eyes rechecked today, and we couldn’t be happier with Dr. Nguyen. He made my son feel SO comfortable and special! I am very thankful for that, as my son has to see several different doctors/specialists and he has anxiety when going to a new place. I was worried about my boy having his eyes dilated (he does TERRIBLE with eye drops) but Dr. Nguyen made that process fast and pleasant! I wish I asked the name for the kind woman who helped us after we met with Dr. Nguyen. It turned out that my son did in fact need glasses, and she was extremely helpful, patient, and very sweet. I had my 4 month old baby in tow and it had been a rough morning, but their customer service really went a long way with me! Looking forward to picking up my little boy’s glasses in a couple weeks. The very best eye care clinic we have ever been to.........lost my glasses on the trip here while fishing......they were able to take care of my vision need and got me a new pair of glasses in 1 hour !....very clean, very professional, highly recommend this place....

Beware. Bait and hook tactic. I called this morning and asked how much an eye exam was and I was told it would be $79 even though they have a banner that reads $59 on Google maps. I was able to get an appointment this morning. Once Dr. Nguyen walk up to me he starts acting like if he were Jackie Chan. Very unprofessional of a doctor. My test took less than 5 minutes and they wanted to charge me $149. I told the office girl that I had been quoted $79 over the phone so they gave me a discount for $117.00. I would not recommend anyone to this place. Just read the reviews. It seems that his family is giving him reviews. This is against the law. I will follow up with Google Maps about this.

Wavefront Eyecare is the place to go for a seamless process in vision services. The office staff is actually friendly, efficient, and answers insurance questions. The office across the highway tells you to call your insurance company to get answers! Wavefront is a new facility with state if the art equipment and an attitude of getting you in asap and getting you through the process efficiently and accurately. Doc Johnny is attentive, inquisitive, thourough, and down right friendly. I never feel rushed or like Im just a number. This place should be a model for the entire Coastal Bend on how to do medical services! Bravo Dr Johnny. GR8T leadership. David

This was my second examination with Dr. Nguyen. I was very comfortable and he actually took time to ask questions and answer mine as well! I would highly recommend Wave Front Eye Care & Optical. The selection of frames and the actual taking time for the patient is very impressive!!

Oh gosh !!!....a bunch of these low reviews were written by a bunch of whiners !!...Im a single mom of 4 and we have been coming to see Dr. Nguyen for the past five years, and my kids love him and this place. Where else can you expect to find such a nice and clean eye care clinic like this one? They have done a wonderful job, and I hate to see good people get misjudged by a bunch of whiners and money pinchers. Go see this place for yourself !.

Showed up for our appointment that we set for 4:30 but when we got there was told we were more than 15 minutes late that our appointment was scheduled for 4:20 mind you it was 4:36 by the time I pulled out my phone to check the time so they had us at 16 minutes late and had already canceled and said we were taking up other appointments time when the lobby was empty and the doctors were also in the lobby so no appointments were going on and no one was waiting but we were still denied. We didn’t receive a courtesy call asking if we were going to make it or anything. Drove 25 minutes out of town in ugly weather to be denied an appointment because we were 1 minuet too late. Ridiculous.

I came here for a vacation and got eyes infection....Dr. Nguyen and staff were amazing...took care of me and got my eyes better.....Love this place...

Very good eye care clinic....

Walked in this afternoon, no greeting at all, walked around another 5 minutes looking at selection (no prices shown); looked around for help, received none at all, walked out. Wanted to support a local business but won’t support poor customer service.

I enjoy coming to Wavefront the doctors are excellent. When I have questions they answer and explain so I have full knowledge of whats going on.

Very Poor service. Was told would have them in 2 wks, which was a month & a half. Then spend $500 dollars on pair of Glasses & don’t even send a case to put them in! Took forever to get them on phone, they never answer, just goes to Recording.

Only problem was Dr. nyugen kept telling me that my 12 year old daughter was mature enough to be alone in the room with him. i had to resist the urge to tell him to stop or that we would be leaving. also, the affordable frames are pretty bad.

Friendly staff, quickly got referral to specialist for my specific issues & always follow up with me.

Staff is very nice...However after getting eye exam and new script, I got my new glasses and realized my vision was worse with the new glasses/new script... Most everything was blurry or just completely unreadable... I went back to where I got my glasses and they stated I would have to get new script from Dr so I went back to this place...Well doctor told it was the fault of the company from where I got my glasses... In other words, both Wave front and Vision Works were tossing me back and forth and neither would do anything to help... I will not be doing business with either from here on in...Just beware, if you have a problem with your glasses after you get them thinking the script is wrong, this doctor will not do anything for you...

If I could give this Joint less than ZERO, I would! Upon their learning I had Block Vision Insurance through my employer, a local school district, Wavefront informed me that people with insurance could only be seen on TUESDAYS! My response, WHAT?, hung up, and am calling channel 10 NEWS, and the Portland Chamber of Commerce and the state of TEXAS!! THE AUDACITY!!!!!!!!!

The initial visit was fine, however both my glasses and my husbands glasses were incorrect. They promised they would be returned and we would have them before Christmas. Well it is the after new year and we still do not have our glasses. The office staff did not return my voice mail. I called again and was informed that really my husbands glasses were in but since mine were not they were not going to call until mine arrived. She said that way if they had to send them back again they could go together and return back together. Told her that it did not happen this time, her response was oh, sorry. If you are looking for a new eye doctor, keep looking,

Very dissatisfied. Started out good. Nice staff and doctor seemed like he cared about his patients. But in the end I wasnt really examined at all. They read the script from my old glasses and bumped it up a notch. Pushed for glaucoma test but couldnt tell me what it would cost with our without my insurance. When it came time to order the glasses, $500 for 1 pair! When I questioned it I was told my insurance didnt cover what I was getting. Ok Ive been going somewhere else for the past 3 years getting 2 pair, no insurance with screening for less than $300. She points to a rack says oh without using the insurance theres a deal for $79. When its all done $142. 3 weeks later I call to see where the glasses are and Im told the lenses were cut wrong they are working on it. Few days layer I pick them up. They seem really strong but ok Ill give it a try. A week or so goes by and the lenses are popping out of the frame :/ Go back, they say they can heat and fix. Hour later picked them up. Get home, have to use the phone to take a pic to see if they are fixex. Wow 2 cracks on 1 lens. Done! Ill go somewhere else and start all over again.

My husband had his eyes examined here and purchased eye glasses. Total bill almost $400! He needed prescription sunglasses so we took his prescription to EyeMart Express where he got his sunglasses for less than $200 and could have purchases an additional regular pair for about $50! My son went today to get his eyes examined and I had told him we would take his prescription to get glasses at EyeMart Express as they were more affordable. When we asked for his prescription they would not release it until we purchased glasses throught them! I have never had an eye doctor NOT give me my prescription to get it filled where I choose! We ordered just lenses to be put in his existing frames. Lenses alone were over $200! Will not be going back here!

I have went here on a few occasions purely out of convenience. First timeI purchased glasses,very expensive Gucci glasses for that matter and the screws kept unscrewing and were very loose. I took them in numerous times and was told the size of my head was the problem and it wasnt the glasses. After several attempts I finally demanded they be returned and switched out for the same frame and after the switch I had no issues. So it was not my head. Second issue was when I ordered contacts. I was given the wrong prescription for one eye then what was prescribed. When I called to notify them of the issue I was told that if my eye sight had changed I would have to pay for the visit. I kept telling her that it wasnt my eyes. The contacts I picked up from them did not match the prescription I was given. So after I called in again I got a man to actually look up my prescription and he confirmed I was given the wrong ones. When I brought them in I was accused of bringing in contacts from somewhere else. Because their warehouse did not sell the brand I brought in. This was ludicrous to me since I hadnt been anywhere else to get contacts. I am finally about to get my eyes checked again and made a call to their office. They were friendlier then usual but I decided to make the appt somewhere else and just make the drive to Corpus.
