I go to both Sam Ash and Guitar Center, but find myself at Sam Ash more often due to the non-invasive sales team and the genuine care the employees show for us, the customer. Logan is one of the best. You can find him in the guitar sales area. Good people, good prices, and a friendly atmosphere make Sam Ash my go-to music store.
I do not recommend going here for brass instrument repairs or maintenance. They took my horn and forgot it in the back room for a month, and were not positioned to make things right with a service discount or timely arrangement to get the horn serviced. They seemed resentful I would even suggest an option like a service discount or expedited service. If you have a brass instrument, try Sweeney Brass in Raleigh instead.
Wow! Huge store, great experience, employees were super helpful and accommodating. Large inventory including used gear. They let me try every piece of gear before I purchased. Best music store Ive ever been to and Ive been all over the country!
I love this place. The people are ALWAYS so friendly and helpful and they will chat with you as long as you want and not seem annoyed by it. Guitar center across the street is the exact opposite. Ive been coming to this place for over 20 years and Ill never shop anywhere else.
I frequent this particular location due to the super friendly and overwhelmingly knowledgeable staff. There are other competitors close to me but I love the openness of the store and again, the staff always points me in the right direction. I ask for advise or suggestions and there’s no fluff. They’re straight to the point with with info that always leaves me satisfied. A great place to do business.
We went here to purchase a used saxophone for our rising 6th grader. Taylor was amazing when I spoke to her in the phone answering my questions and in person when we came in to look at available instruments and ultimately purchase. I highly recommend Sam Ashe, but specifically Taylor based upon the experience we had. I couldn’t get the company the school recommends and uses to call me back and answer my questions, but Taylor was patient and kind throughout this entire process. Thank you Sam Ashe and Taylor!
Great experience on our first trip to Sam Ash in Raleigh. We were greeted right away and directed to the right place. Taylor was fantastic in helping us select and purchase a used student flute for our rising 6th grader. She was patient in answering questions and her enthusiasm was refreshing. Its obvious she enjoys what she does. Equally outstanding experience with Dave the repair tech a couple weeks later when I brought the flute in for minor adjustments. Based on these 2 initial visits, I feel great about choosing Sam Ash. Customer service is above and beyond. Prices are extremely reasonable as well.
My son needed some rental gear to play and my wedding. The staff was helpful and flexible on the rental time, providing him enough practice time before had and needed requiring us to rush back in after the ceremony without additional costs. They did call to say we were late returning it when we had already set the return day, which was a slight annoyance. Otherwise, it would have been 5 stars

Talked to Taylor about trumpets. She was very knowledgeable and honest about the quality of the various products available. I was very happy with my purchase and would recommend visiting this location. If you need any brass instruments, Taylor is your go to person. By the way I did not get the gentlemans name at the front desk but he was just as helpful and pleasant in pointing me in the right direction.
Bought my first classical guitar yesterday ($339) and although the service was quite good. after I paid for it, I was just handed the guitar to take home? No bag, no box not even a plastic bag, it was just handed to me. Although it maybe a cheaper guitar in comparison to others, that Is a lot of money for me. I bought a fender steel acoustic 4 years ago from guitar center for $350 and got a hard case with it (which I will now put my classical guitar in). Its was also 95 degrees outside which didnt help the guitar (my back seats were full from visiting Lowes Home improvement) So I had to put it in the trunk.Probably my first, and last visit to Sam Ash
Great store and it’s nice they ask customers to wear a mask or show proof of vaccination, it really shows they care for the safety of customers and employees. As a private company I believe they have all right to do that. It’s a shame people are complaining about that 🙄.

Demanding proof of vaccination is not only creepy, gross, sick and controlling but its also completely unnecessary. I went to guitar center across the street and no one stopped me at the door and asked me private information. The government isnt forcing you to do this. Its a choice YOU are making for no reason. Ive spend over 2000 dollars at sam ash in the past. Will never spend another dollar there.
Top line products and service! Sam and Logan (senior sellers from the store) are the reason why I still love to buy in-store. It was my first time there. I left the place super satisfied with the purchases (JBL Studio Monitors, DJ Headphones and a gorgeous LTD/ESP M1000 Guitar); and all the premium consulting Ive got in-store. Awesome experience. Definitely coming back for more! :)
Ordered a pedal .... didnt get it. They basically advertised something they didnt have. Worse, I could only actually get this sorted by having to leave a message on their answering machine (what era is this?!?) ... only to get an email saying this shipped it out... only to receive a phone call a day later to say... no not really.What a mess this online store is. Sticking to Sweetwater and Guitar Center from now on.

Love Sam Ash. My husband is a musician and I wanted to surprise him with a new keyboard. The guy who helped me was Rob. I had no idea what to get or what to look for but he was able to help me figure out exactly what my husband wanted. Everybody knows that the last year has been difficult for many of us. Not essential businesses are slowly opening to the public. If you need some item for your audio equipment and have go to a indoor store following the covid-19 rules is not always something pleasant, but in my case was a great experience with a excellent customer service. The sales representative with the assistance of the manager match a Amazon price for my item in less that a minute. In one word I only can say: Bravo!

In February of 2021 I purchased Line 6 Helix Floorboard Multi-Effects Guitar Processor Pedal online and picked it up at the Raleigh store. I was told the unit was brand new and a backpack ($170 value) would be sent to my house as they were out of stock.After I came home, I noticed the unit was an open box item with several very visible scratches on it. I contacted the sales representative right away (Steven S.) who told me this was not acceptable and he would contact me back. Now 4 months later after back on forth email of Steven saying Ill be in touch soon nothing has happened and the backpack was never sent.This is by far the most unethical business I have ever dealt with in my life. Selling an open box item as new (all seals on both the actual box and the bag) and not shipping the backpack.Stay far away!

Ive visited my local Sam Ash a few times in the past, mainly to just look around, but I wanted and needed a drum throne, so purchased one there. The sales guy in the drum department, Matt, was very helpful during the entire experience. Even found out that he is a drummer, himself.
Very good experiences in purchasing a guitar, bringing it back for a minor repair with a 3 day turnaround and then returning a small item over a month after it was purchased with no problems. Cool staff. 5 stars.

I have a pedal board and I needed a bag/pedal board box to tote my board around. They did all that was in their power to find one without the pedal board pre-installed and BAM he found one. They were really nice and VERY helpful. Very knowledgeable in music instruments.

He asked good questions and listened carefully before finding several candidates (among dozens!), connecting them to a guitar/amp, and letting me fool around. I quickly settled on a Boss and am happy with the choice. Thank you, Wade! I should add, everybody I met in the store seemed friendly and helpful.

Went to Sam Ash and purchased a Yamaha keybd last week. I noticed sign on door that stated only 10 customers in store at a time. I opened the door, was greeted and invited to come in (I was wearing my own mask). I noticed some others came in behind me, they were not wearing masks, the greeter stated the store required masks and gave the 2 customers masks. Also, I was told that if I wanted to test an instrument to see an attendant and they would wipe down the instrument before and after I test it. All the employees wore masks and gloves. I thought, Sam Ash has this right! It may be overkill to some but I think it was perfect.

I needed some guidance and reasonably price equipment for an audio project. A young employee named Cliff took very good care of helping me select the equipment I needed. He was very knowledgeable of the product and very patient in answering all of my questions.Im a senior citizen and I was treated with kindness and great respect. I highly recommend these guys!
I first stopped at Music & Arts, which was nice but small, and they did not have much in the form of percussion instruments. I then looked up Sam Ash and drove the extra distance to get there. The second I stepped inside I knew Id made the right call. The place is enormous and has entire sections devoted to specific groups of musical instrument. I was looking to get starter items for my 3-year old and they even had multiple options for that niche too. The staff was super friendly and understood my goals instantly, and provided several suggestions right away. Its hard to imagine I go anywhere else after seeing what Sam Ash had to offer. Highly recommend and cant imagine youll need to go anywhere else if this is your first stop.

It was our first time at this area store. My daughters school always referred us to Music and Arts. I now wish we had always used Sam Ash. The staff was very friendly and personable. They shared tips with my daughter to make her a better artist and gave her things to look forward to. I appreciated being sold the best items for my child instead of them being so focused on a bigger price tag that her need gets lost. Shes 13 and even she says she wishes out contract was with Sam Ash. We will be permanent customers now!!!

Brought in a brand new guitar I picked up from someone market price is $700 went to trade it in and was offered $200. When I get home 2 of my strings on my guitar are broke. I’ve only ever played it once. Hire people who know what they are talking about and how to handle your gear you’ve worked hard to get.

I have done business with Sam Ash before, I bought an Alesis Nitro mesh drum kit and almost 2 years later decided to upgrade and trade in my kit, the price I was given on trade was very fair and Matt Braswell was very professional, thorough and engaging,he even clarified a shipping issue coming from Florida. If not for the Florida snafu Id give 5 stars, but Sam Ash in Raleigh is top notch !!!
I went in looking for a particular item and they had it!! The staff was friendly and attentive without hovering. They let me walk around and look without shadowing and were happy to answer questions that I had. I prefer to buy from local/locally owned merchants whenever possible but if they dont have an item in stock, then it is easier for me to order it online than have them do it. I was really glad they had the item that I wanted!

My son needed drumsticks for school for his music class. It was a Sunday evening close to closing time and they were so helpful! The guy who works in the guitar section went and got them for us since there were some guys practicing the drums in the back and he said it was really loud.He knew exactly what was needed and was super nice in helping.

While I enjoyed the selection and the layout of the style itself, the customer service aspect was sub-par. We had someone yell at us from across the store asking if we needed help and then an employee with headphones on at the checkout counter. Dont yell at your customers and if you are doing something that requires headphones, dont do it at the checkout counter

Great experience at the Raleigh NC location. Taylor and Riley made the trip from SC, a 3 hour drive, a great experience. They gave us plenty of time to test play the used Bassoon.It would be nice if Sam Ash couldve transferred it to Charlotte NC, which was 2.5 hours closer to home.
Great staff and selection. I decided to write this review because I brought in my 92 Yamaha guitar to get set up for the first time in its life, and couldnt be happier with the results! The action is wonderful, tone is better than ever, and I can play the thing all night now, and truly enjoy it. For only $55 for a standard set up, it is worth every penny. I highly recommend it if you havent had yours worked on. Bringing in my others soon!EDIT: Finally brought my other guitar in two years later for Gary to set-up and clean, and once again I could not be happier. Excellent quality of work, and the guitar, which was always a bit difficult to play, is enjoyable now. Thanks a bunch!
Awesome experience at Sam Ash today! After leaving Guitar Center extremely disappointed where my family and I were not helped or asked if we needed assistance we went straight across the street to Sam Ash where Wade offered up some top notch service! We explained to him that it was our son’s birthday and we came in for a beginner guitar with all the works, lessons and all. He outfitted my son with everything he “needed”. Nothing more, nothing less. Wade also gave my son a shout out over the PA system... I hope he didn’t get in Trouble for that (LOL).... but all in all I’m extremely happy with our purchase and the customer service. My son’s Birthday was a success! Wade Rocks!
Went to the store in Raleigh. I called up there before I drove cause I live an hour away. I talked to Cliff in pro audio and asked him about a specific dj controller. He said he had one in stock. I said cool Im on the way. I get there and Cliff was super nice and helped me with this controller. He highly suggested the extended warranty, and I got it. Super nice guy!
