I have an old car and feel 100% confident that my mechanic will be honest with me about what’s wrong and whether he thinks it’s time to donate it and buy a new one. I trust him (Julio) completely, they never have tried to over-sell me, and I plan on continuing to go to Honest 1 in San Carlos even when I buy a new car.

I didnt notice when I picked my car up but when I got home the first thing my wife said is the hood is not down all the way it was down but not latched. Im sure glad I didnt go fast enough for it to open.I really like Honest 1 and will return.

Have been to this business several times now and I will say that the service has been amazing. They stand by their work, explain mechanics for dummies (hope that doesnt offend anyone) style so I fully understand what is going on and why. Car wouldnt start. Had it towed to Honest-1. Starter had died. Luckily they had time open up and within just a couple hours of me bringing my car in I had it back.

Originally I had taken my Dodge Avenger to Carl Burger Dodge because my air bag light was on. After 5 days there, I was told they need to order a part to fix the problem. I was told it could take a week or a month.I decided to take my car to take my car to Honest-1 for a second opinion.The manager, Julio was very helpful. They even gave me a ride home after dropping off my car. Julio got back to me within 24 hrs. He said I only needed a wire repaired & the part Carl Burger ordered was not necessary. He said the work would only take 2-3 hours. I picked up my fixed car the next day.I will take all my future business to Honest-1.Thank you Julio!

Had them replace entire front bumper and grill assembly on my 97 Dodge RAM. I had supplied 95% of the parts, but at 4 PM; Julio called and said one small part was needed. He found one up in North San Diego County, and he had a driver run up and get the part. Work was done in one day. I will definitely be going back to them. A+

First time in 40 years I dropped off my car & had it returned in worse running condition. They had it all day for a 2 1/2 hour job & when I picked it up it was worse. I returned the next morning & was given a song & dance explanation of why it ran so poorly. Of course my next question is why nobody called me to let me know there might be additional issues. Completely unprofessional & had to take it to another mechanic to fix their screw up. Small claims here I come.

I went online made an appointment using their tool, it said someone would get back to me....didnt happen so I called, received an appointment for 10am on a Thursday, showed up and was told it would be a while, so what was the point of the apppointment. Needed to have AC check, found coupon online with said it was for the evaluation service, that the coupon MUST be presented, when I go there I was basically told the coupon didnt do that much, however the women at the counter took the coupon. Which lead me to believe I would NOT be charged for the assessment fee, to my surprise, I was charged $138. Because this was a surprise for my daughters birthday, which I informed her, everything all together cost me nearly $300. I was given a ride home, advised that I needed to be picked up when ready, was told no problem, received a call that the serpentine belt needed to be replaced, fine my child lives in LA and needs her AC working. Received a call from a gentleman telling me what needed to be done and when it would be ready 1:45pmI reminded the gentlemen I would need a ride he said ok, some would call was ready, and when they were on the way to pick me up, got the call the car was ready. NEVER go to call someone was coming to pick me up. Took Uber over picked up my car walked in, no apology, no comment about why no one ever called. Lesson learned Firestone is within walking distance from my apt. I say this to the owners if you dont want to do business with people that look like me, too much melanin in my skin, post a sign that says Whites or Caucasians only. I tried to support a local SMALL business. With attitudes like yours yeah, I wish you all the best. Now that youve shown me who you are I believe it. The male owner made it very clear when it came time to give me a ride home how didnt want to be near me.I wish you much continued success with your business. Or and you online appointment setting tool would work better if it told p potential customers if an appointment is available or not, and not have to wait for a phone call that may never come. OH AND WE LIVE IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA!!! HELLO THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL. I WILL BE SURE TO TELL MY MINORITY FRIENDS TO AVOID YOU LIKE COVID 19. Bate and switch is not cool for a small business.

Had an opening and was able to get my vehicle serviced in short order. Super nice, very professional, reasonably priced— Can do a better job of appt setting/tracking/response... no point in having an online appt portal if it’s all manual(48 hours with no response)on the backend as some have eluded to in previous posts. Best to just call and get an appointment.

Why cant there be real honest customer service? Especially in 2020, without all the judgement and snobbery.There was inappropriate comments made and language to try and make me feel like I was welcomed, but I only was looking into getting an inspection done on a car I plan to get rid of. I guess this place is great for older people who the employees seem to respect more. I am not an old white male ($$$), so I didnt fit the bill.Unprofessional female employee at the front desk. Service manager was cool, but the undertone in the office was not pleasant.

I needed an oil change for my car. I had a coupon for Honest 1. I thought I would give it a try. I had the oil changed, tires rotated, and a new air filter replook aced for the inside cabin. I was very pleased with the results. Julio and his staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

I been taking my cars to Honest-1 auto care for years. Julio and team is very efficient and knowledgeable regarding diagnostic for vehicles. I know sometimes we don’t want bad news but it’s normal wear and tear that needs to be fixed. Every time I had something fixed my cars runs and rides a lot better from before. Great prices and very thorough job.

My wifes car was leaking gas. I took it to this shop and they informed it would be a one hour diagnostic charge. They called me later in the day and said something on top of the tank was leaking, and it would be 4.5 hours or more to fix plus parts. I informed the shop manager that there were access panels under the seat, at which point he acted like he was just about to bring that up, and the hours then dropped to 1.2. I agreed to the work, under the circumstance I would get a copy of the part receipt and the old part. When I arrived to pick up the car, they refused to provide the old part, and any evidence of a new part purchase. Then owner then informed me that he always overcharges for parts, and that everyone does it. When I got home I discovered the tank was still leaking and what appears to be the old part still installed (I looked under the seat). They charged me 450 for a part btw that costs less than 55 dollars.

If youve been mistreated by other mechanics, you should definitely consider giving Honest1 a chance. I have been sending friends over to Julio and he has never failed to go above and beyond for anyone Ive recommended to check out this shop. Its refreshing to be spoken to with utmost transparency and being given a detailed breakdown of everything going on with your car, without pushy sales tactics. The place has plenty of parking and a nice lounge area if you opt to wait for your car.

I used a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation. Rather than trying to up-sell me to synthetic oil--which has happened all too often recently--Julio checked his database and confirmed that my 5.7L Chrysler Hemi will run fine on semi-synthetic, which was included in the coupon.This shop is very convenient to my home, and checking in went very quickly. I was not in a hurry, but as far as I know the work was done in a timely manner.Im giving them four stars instead of five because one one incident. After I picked the car up, I called Julio to confirm that they had reset the oil change indicator. He stated that this is done automatically. But because Im a suspicious old SOB, I checked for myself. In fact, it had not been reset; so I took before and after photos and went ahead and did this.I tried to reach Julio several times to discuss this, including leaving a voicemail and calling the number several times. If I had been able to reach Julio and discuss this, and Julio had taken ownership of the error and told me how itd be resolved in the future, I would still have given them a five star rating. But since I was unable to contact them for this purpose, Im down-rating them to four stars.

I took my Honda in to get a few issues fixed. From Drop off to pick up I was very impressed with the level of care and professionalism I received from Honest 1. They kept me informed during the diagnostic and repair process and communicated with me what they were doing and why. I am very pleased with the work they did.

The crew at Honest 1 are professional and very good at diagnosing and fixing problems. Its nice to have some place nearer than my dealership to take my car.

Honest 1 always comes through! Just got done with my 100k service, and they found some issues that were not part of the service. Julio called and explained everything to me, and helped me prioritize what was urgent, and what I could wait on for the next paycheck. And they had everything done that day. Nice, personable, and, like their name, honest.

I’ve been taking my cars here for the last four years. I mostly have dealt with Julio. I truly think they live up to their name. I have never felt pressured on up sales or like I was being fed bs just to make an extra buck. Julio has been great explaining what fixes can wait, and what needs done right away. I’m always told prices up front and when it comes to pay the bill the price listed is what I was told. I don’t know how they compare price wise to other places because I’ve only taken my cars here. If they are more expensive they’re worth it.

I trust Honest One for my whole family. John and Julio are very honest and they employ great mechanics. The drop-off process is simple and they don’t gouge customers or embellish their work hours etc. I hate to leave this review in thatthey are so good it may make them too busy

I called in for an oil change and John was able to make me an appointment for the next day. The facility is very nice with a rest area that has AC and drinks/snacks while you wait for the service to be done. Oil change took less than an hour, which was great since last time I got an oil change somewhere else it took all day before I got my car back. My car drove very smoothly afterwards so I know it was good oil that they used. Overall it was a great experience and the price was right!

DO.NOT.TAKE.YOUR.VEHICLE.HERE.Pay close attention to the previous 1 star reviews. I took my 2011 Volkswagen CC this week because my check engine light came on. This is a local auto repair shop & I wanted to support a local business. They called me to tell me several codes came up & sent me over their recommendations on fixing it. I use my car for work so did not have a lot of time to make a decision. I dropped it off the same day & went with their recommendations. I received a call at 5:30 to pick it up. I came back to pick it up, was hastily created by Julio, their Service Supervisor/Receptionist. I asked how everything went & he said Good. I asked if there were notes in regards to how it went, he said I would get the paperwork after I paid. I thought, okay, weird, but I just want my car back. Less than 24 hours later, my check engine light came back on. I drove right back to the shop. I was again, greeted by Julio and he said there was one code they didnt do anything for and it could be it. I asked why no one mentioned this to me yesterday, and he gave a condescending response. I gave him my keys & had to rush back to work. I sent an email to the General Manager/Owner, John, letting him know of my frustration & that I would like to speak with him directly when picking up my vehicle later that day. I get a call a few hours later & he tells me it is my intake manifold & will be over $700. I spoke with the General Manager/Owner, John, told them they clearly misdiagnosed the issue & I will absolutely not be leaving my car in their hands. John couldnt have been more unprofessional & offered zero resolution. He H told me Well then you can come pick up your car. Unbelieveable. After all of this, I went back to re-read the original paperwork & realize that they charged me FOR A DIFFERENT PART than was actually replaced. The service says they replaced the crankshaft positioning SENSOR (a part that is $50-$70) and they charged me for a crankshaft vent valve separator (a $221 part). I am irate. Ive disputed the charges with my credit card company & now have to have my car completely checked to ensure any of the other work they did was HONEST. This company is neither HONEST or qualified for what they advertise. I will do my part to ensure none of my neighbors & friends use this business.

I tool my vehicle there, they checked it out my A/C not cooling problem. They got me COOL 🤣 again. Service was very quick and easy.

John was very helpful, answered all my questions and they completed the work when promised. They also have a very comfortable waiting area TV, coffee, tea and even a little kids play area. One other positive, theyre very close to my home.

They gave me a good price on an oil change and a tire rotation. However, I was quoted an hour and the job took almost two. They forgot to reprogram my vehicle, so the check engine light was on. Took even more time to have that done too.

Julio & the team took the anxiety & frustration out of my situation with my car. Honest 1 Auto Care in San Carlos was able to provide last minute service to my daughter’s car while she was out of town. I was impressed that the waiting area was clean and comfortable, and the shop was so well organized. I won’t hesitate to use them again.

I had an appointment. I delivered the car before time and it was complete and returned to me within the time constraints previously set. The service was professional, prompt And efficient. I strongly recommend Honest One and for service and repairs.

When I first used Honest 1, Ill have to admit I was a bit leary as there was a running joke on an old sitcom about an Honest John who was anything but. After several visits and having work done on a few cars, I can say my fears were unfounded. Weve had great service from Julio and the rest of the crew. The pricing was fair and the work has lasted (with only one exception that was fixed with a little fine tuning). Clean, bright and comfortable waiting area. courtesy shuttle service available.

Service was prompt, price fair. We had transsmission flush on our small Versa.We have 4 vehicles in our family and Honest 1 has worked on them all. Julio gives excellent feedback and advice. He is a very conscientious service writer and always friendly and patient.

Needed an oil change so I swung by on a Friday afternoon to see if they had any openings on Saturday. Unfortunately they didnt, but someone had canceled their 4 oclock appointment. I took it. Showed up at 3:45 and they took my truck right to the back. I was in and out at a great price in 45 minutes. Very satisfied.

I usually dislike auto mechanics, but this is a notable exception. I have taken several cars there and am really satisfied with the quality of the work and their prices. They are friendly and are willing to explain the repairs before performing them.

Really good job pointing things out to me during a pre-purchase inspection, and letting me know the severity of each issue that was spotted.

Fantastic auto shop, and I love how the mechanics only tell me what I need to have done and what I DONT need to have done yet so I have confidence that theyre being honest with me. Quality of work is high and staff is very friendly, plus the waiting room has a nice TV, couches, play area for kids, and free coffee, water, and other goodies.

Mixed feelings:I went in for an oil change (Full-Synthetic) which was $59 +tax after my -$25 discount.The wait was unusually long for an oil change. Despite making an appointment for 2pm and arriving 5 minutes early, I left at 3:38. (1hr 38min wait time - perhaps due to a busy day.)They do not honor competitors prices. I checked online and Firestone had a $49 sale for the same exact job but Honest 1 would not match it. They did, however, leave a complimentary packet of Welchs gummy candy in the car.Pros:- friendly- provide complimentary refreshments.Cons:- unusually long wait time- overpriced- would not meet competitor priceWould I recommend this place to a friend?NO. The 20% price hike (compared to local alternative) is not worth the complimentary snacks.

Ive been going here for almost a year and Ill never go back again. I stumbled across them when I was looking for discounts on oil changes and they have a special if you print a coupon that your oil change with a synthetic oil blend of up to 5 quarts will be $20 and Ive gotten it every time at that price and I drive a Honda Pilot. My girlfriend went there on Tuesday and she drives a Toyota Corolla and when she got there they said that for a synthetic blend oil change it normally cost $85 but that theyll give her a discount of $25 because she brought in the coupon so now shes paying $60 for the same service that me a guy gets for $20. To make matters worse they charged her another $20 for a tire rotation which is ridiculous. Never going here again and if youre a woman or someone that doesnt know much about cars theyll rip you off.

I AM A 91 YEAR OLD DRIVER......A BIT PARANOID....... THEY SEE ME AND PATIENTLY PUT AIR IN TIRE....OR FIX SOMETHING IF NECESSARY.....I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH SERVICE......HAVE RECOMMENDED TO FRIENDS AND THEY AGREE........I CONSIDER THEM EXTENDED FAMILY

I took my Prius to them in January for an oil change. Last week the car started making a cranking noise. Took it to someone else and there was no oil in the tank. There was no oil leak. They most likely didnt fill it up completely-although I was charged for it, or maybe forgot altogether. BAD BAD place. Not honest at all.
