This is a adorable, small, kitschy cafe hidden on the corner on Park before University. Its easy to miss, but you will be missing out if you dont come here. I have had a hard time finding good coffee in the area, I dont like ending up at Starbucks. But Im glad I tried this place because the coffee was great. I liked the croissant and I want to try some of the other pastries they have. They have a good selection of coffee, some European food, and European chocolate. The guy working was nice and he whipped up the drinks super fast. This place deserves all the stars and it will likely be my new coffee spot. ☕

Nice place and nice people but not a good place for being on a laptop. There is no indoor seating so you cant comfortably charge your device. I had an iced coffee which was mediocre.

Never respected proper health requirements during pandemic, always people hanging out mask less and smoking so you could not walk by on the sidewalk. Avoid if you value your health.

Locals favorite!!! Authentic cafe experience from the pastrys to the coffee. Friendly environment with interesting decor and only the best people. Im a mocha kinda guy, i love the special twist on the charcoal mocha he makes here. Chia tea is sweet and smooth. Acai bowl is refreshing. This place is literally the reason i buy lavazza coffee now! He also has imported European treats to try whenever you are looking to do soemthing new. I live down the block and if i want coffee, this is where i go.

The owner is a great guy and the place itself is just as nice. Quality over quantity on any given day, or morning better said. Spotless clean, great coffee of many kinds, low key and personable service. Ambiance is relaxing and ambient will take you back into the good old days with antiques scattered throughout the small yet comfy and cozy place.Simply put, pass it by and miss out on what a true worry free coffee experience should feel like.

This is a hidden gem that everyone who likes coffee should check out! Milan provides quality service and makes the best latte in San Diego, using high quality beans from Europe. He also always has a delicious selection of pastries from local sources. The ambiance is quirky and calm, with many antiques and interesting old books inside. You can also lounge outside or on a comfortable couch inside for hours and read, reminiscent of the cafes in European cities. A truly authentic European coffee experience!

Awesome coffee and always interesting vintage and antique stuff for sale. Cool lamps! I also like browsing the books and the records.Milan the owner is a super nice guy, from Serbia, and their are a lot of Serbs who patronize the place along with other Eastern Europeans.Good WiFi and a good quiet place to work. The only knock is that parking is not the best, but there are usually free spots 2-3 blocks away. Meter parking on Park. Also, the shop is in proximity to other vintage/antique shops.Prices are very reasonable.Outdoor smoking allowed.

DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!I am a member of a dating site, thats how Milan contacted me initially. We messaged briefly and he suggested that I hop on a train and come down to San Diego for dinner, I live in Orange County. I sent him my name, birthdate and email address, he sent me the receipt and attached boarding pass.Earlier in the day, prior to him purchasing the ticket, I Googled his phone number.Everything was verifiable, I learned he owned this coffee shop, I even learned of his address.Everything checked out and I felt comfortable to get on a train and meet him, as agreed, at the train station.I was excited and proceeded to head on down to San Diego via Amtrak. At about Oceanside, is where I get the text; Hey Leanna, think we can do this another day? I have to work at 7:00amIm thinking ....WHAT?? During our previous messaging, he assured me that everything was fine, meaning, time..and so forth. Two important things to note..1. He had no idea that I knew he had a coffee business or any info on him.2. He was informed that I am completely broke because I just closed my business and it killed me financially.Upon recieving his surprise text, you know, the one where he wants to reschedule for tomorrow, I start calling his number. My heart starts beating faster, getting worried, but, Im not one to freak out easily. Im sure he will be picking me up from the station...Right?WRONG!!! NO CALL, NO COMUNICATION!!Okay, if that wasnt bad enough, get this...As the conductor comes to scan my ticket/phone, he tells me that the ticket was refunded at 12:30pm this afternoon. This basically means, as soon as he bought the ticket, he asked for a refund. Thank the Lord that the conductor Dave, was a really nice guy and said it was okay. In all reality, he could have made me get off at the next stop. After explaining my situation to Dave, the conductor, he was sweet enough to assure me a complimentary ride back AT 5:55 AM! Yes, the next morning.Time to wrap this up now. The moral of the story.... Dont just hop on a train for a date with a guy youve never met, definitely DONT GO TO BALBOA PERK COFFEE and lastly....There are still good people out there willing to help someone in need.In case you were wondering. After the train station closed, my instincts led me to this nice bar/hotel. There just happened to be a LAW ENFORCEMENT FORENSICS CONFERENCE! A couple of the officers bought me two drinks and we talked till around 3:00am, then I sat in the lobby till 5:30am and now, Im on my way back home safe and sound!
