Wonderful place in Little Italy in San Diego to get a shot of espresso or coffee in the morning! Sure, there are lots of tourists and people staying at the hotel coming in. But, if you sit outside in the patio area, or outside in near the streets, you feel good that you are there embracing everything!
I got the chocolate croissant and my husband got the butter one and they were delectable. The Chocolate in mine was delicious and the pastry was flaky and textured ... The coffee was good too. Our service was friendly and fast. There was a small line when they opened, but he was quick working and accurate.
Would rate higher than 3 but less than 4. Came here for the avocado toast and was expecting more. It was good, but lacking some basic seasoning made the avocado very bland. The balsamic vinegar quality was high. Got a few other items and were ok. We order a gelato and got a shake, when I asked if they were sure this was mine they responded with “what were you expecting it would look like?” Coffee was also not great. Had also read that they had the best cappuccino in town.
This morning, I visited Caffe Italia for the first time. I was blown away by the friendliness of all three of the staff members I interacted with as well as the variety of food they offer. Everything about my visit was outstanding. You can bet that Ill return whenever Im in the area. Thank you Steve, Lee and Caffe Italia staff!
Their coffee is the best. I never drink coffee because Im very picky but I loved their caramel latte. I had the avocado toast and the cannoli. Both were really good. I love how the cannoli and the coffee werent overly sweet. If you looking for a healthy and reasonable priced breakfast. This is the spot.
Thank you for the review response. I really enjoyed the panini I ate here for brunch yesterday morning. Other menu and drink items also looked worth trying. There was a nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating available and relaxing Italian style music playing. I hope to visit again someday. Thanks!
I never leave reviews but this little cafe is fantastic. Owner and staff are very friendly and the coffee is delicious. Decent pastries and quick service!
This guy was the best member of the Coffee Shops team. He was a very active person who assisted me in locating the best location for me. As predicted, all of my questions were promptly answered. He was always there for me whenever I needed help. There was also delicious sweets and a fantastic music range. Unrivaled coffee shop.
Great spot for take out our dine in... incredible coffee and blended drinks! Salad and paninis are also great!
Such a cute cafe! We stopped in here for dessert after dinner in Little Italy and were not disappointed. The canolli and lemon bar were delicious!
Quality has completely gone down the last few visits...tiramisu is inconsistent and we got two prosciutto & fig paninis that had literally NO prosciutto or Brie cheese in it, it was literally an arugula sandwich. So disappointing!!! Not sure if they are under new ownership/management? I will say, the young barista working at the front was lovely to talk to and it had nothing to do with her. Used to be our go-to cafe in Little Italy, and its a shame because its such a cute place. With so many places to choose from, we will have to find a different spot if things dont improve.
Excellent coffee and friendly staff. This is one of the few places that stays open till really late in the neighborhood of little Italy.A really important thing is that they offer soy milk and other non dairy milk for those with dairy allergy like my boyfriend. In addition to that they have a container full of treats for dogs next to the sugar station. Excellent for pets. They sell lavazza coffee
Such a quaint little spot with the best espresso I’ve had in a very long time. I ended up going back within 5 minutes to buy a bag of coffee. Fantastic staff, excellent pastries, and flavorful coffee. Will 100% make a point to stop in anytime I’m in San Diego.
Managed to stumble across this place walking off a very large (but so fricking delicious) Italian dinner down little Italy. The coffee is divine and the foam artwork was unexpected but a really cool addition to a great cup of coffee. The cafe was super cute, had plenty of seating and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I went after dinner that night AND again the next morning they were that good! Would highly recommend it!
I love this place. Their cappucinos are the best. The food and their staff are amazing.
I’ve had a lot of iced coffees, and their cold brew on draft was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Didn’t know an iced coffee could taste so good. Super nice staff too.
Good coffee, great croissants and amazing staff. The guy was quick, responsive and really funny. Made my morning. Definitely coming here always
Caters to all but also has good genuine Italian coffee. Very warm and friendly. Very authentic Italian neighborhood bar vibe.
Super friendly, pretty busy, very good coffee, pastries, salads. Very fair prices for this neighborhood.
Had a dirty chai latte and a caprese panini. Both were delicious. The bread on the panini was buttery,, seasoned, flaky, and crunchy - so good! The lattes all have great foam too. 😊 Highly recommend
Really like this place. Real coffee. Great staff. Limited breakfast menu but very European style.
Perfect spot to stop for a coffee and sit outside to enjoy the scenery. Staff was very friendly & helpful - even gave some pro-tips on where to go shopping!!
I love Cafe Italia....no one makes Spumoni like they do.....the fun of going to this place and sitting outside drinking great coffee and eating my spumoni is memorable......the employees at always kind and fun...love to interact with them while deciding what to try next....Cafe Italia makes my day
Double Cappuccino in a to go cup and an Apricot Rugelach. My favorite coffee spot in San Diego
Recommend Espresso gelato, simply amazing!
Employees are too busy talking to each other to help any customers.
Wonderful food, coffee, and customer service. I came here almost everyday during my short stay in little Italy. Its the perfect location as well. Not super crowded (so you can feel safe during this pandemic) but still busy enough to people watch.Try one of their blended gelato drinks!
Darn good espresso. Great bagels
They serve really good hot chocolate rich and creamy staff is Pleasant. Pastries are ok
Best coffee I had in the u.s
Good coffee and very friendly staff
Great Americana, quick, and not overpriced. Friendly barrista.
Delicious coffee and Italian nom noms. Highly recommend the Napoleon.
Dog friendly. The napolean dessert and a cuppachino started my day here. Parking free till 8 am ?
Alright coffee, bad atmosphere
Amazing little cafe in little Italy!!
This is the best capuccino in all of San Diego, my friend Steve only buys top-notch products.
Very nice place for a quick and easy breakfast. The bagel wasnt the best in town nor was the coffee, but the customer service really made me want to come back again. Very personable and happy staff.
I don’t have the wordcraft to justify these five stars. Simply put, this is my favorite coffee shop in the entirety of San Diego for hanging out. I love coming here, even though it’s about 20 minutes from where I live. I take people here whenever I can. Tatiana is a ray of sunshine every time I see her, and so accommodating. I love the ambience, the coffee is good (maybe not anything special), there are excellent seating options for getting cozy and watching the street or working on a laptop, and the attached courtyard owned by the hotel next door is an amazing secluded paradise. Also, the food is great and the location in the heart of Little Italy is delightful. Nowhere beats this place for me, and I’ve tried a lot of spots. Other places might win on one factor or another, but nowhere has had such a fantastic overall experience for me.
Great coffee! The gluten free brownie was excellent!
Great coffee and enjoyed breakfast
Nice place to have some coffee, quite and peaceful, I really like it
Excellent cafe in little Italy!!
I have to really be impressed to give 5 stars. This is just a small shop right in Little Italy that has great staff and great coffee. My wife got the house brew, and it was dark and flavorful, but I like a really intense flavor so I had the same, but with a shot of espresso added. It was good. It was around 8 am with a cool breeze, so we enjoyed it at a sidewalk table. The wife had carrot cake, and we shared it with tiny birds that accompanied us at our table. It was a nice way to start our day.
I went here with my daughter and they treated us very well. And once I tasted the food, even better! I’m a going to have to keep coming here.
Horrible customer service by the manager or owner.Yelled at us for being too close didnt bother to ask us to move or to give directions. Great coffee bad service.
You wont be disappointed in the menu and service. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here. Food is like a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.
Phenomenal espresso. Elizabeth, Hector, Paolo, Kim, and their entire team are quality people.
Good service and coffee
The customer service was awesome! The coffee and pastries were delicious! Thank you for being there for us coffee lovers! 🤗 💕
Had a double white mocha. It was really good. They have a nice open air area to sit and enjoy your drink. Pastries looked really good but I didn’t bite on those. Maybe next time. Coffee hear is great.
Recently went on a trip to San Diego. Looking for a quick cappuccino and a pastry. Did not disappoint. Staff is LOVELY. Super friendly and helpful. It’s the little things, like helping me find a nice bathroom to change my son in. Also, the gelato is phenom.
Friendly staff, clean place, delicious pastries
They no longer serve lavazza which was upsetting but their coffee is very good! Canoli is too sweet and the chocolate seemed out of place
Excellent location, great coffee, and a good assortment of baked goods. Not a lot of room for working inside (its a tiny little shop), but theres a nice little plaza with seats just outside. This is definitely a place worth checking out if you want a locally owned/operated coffee shop with a local Italian flavor. (Insiders tip: Try the chocolate chip cookies... theyre huge and dense, but phenomenal)
I love this place! The food is amazing! ❤️☺️❤️
Delicious coffee and treats. Staff is very helpful and attentive. This place makes a great start to my day in downtown.
Although on Google maps says theyre not open for dine-in I emailed them and they said they are for limited hours. They said they had sidewalk dining for two weeks and dine in for one week. I suggest Google maps update the information. they are open for dine-in but I suggest people call and check first to make sure they are open each time.
Slow and low quality service. My drink wasnt stirred well at all. Visited around 10:30 AM 5/30/21
It was so fresh. the service was very helpful and observant. it has a good feel to it. atmosphere is similar to a place in columbus i loved.
My favorite spot in Little Italy. Amazing coffee and outdoor seating
Really enjoy this little place! The coffee is rich and flavorful. Sunday brunch waffles are divine and good sandwiches too. Plus gelato and pastries. Whats not to like?!
Not my first time here and most definitely will not be my last! Im a huge fan of their cannolis and lemon bars. Their cappuccino is hot, strong and does the job! Service is always fast but never rushed. The restaurant is always clean and full with happy customers! I have recommended this place and will continue to do so.
Last Saturday we were mistreated and left in disgust. A sweaty guy with a filthy mask barked at us to get out because some customers were still inside paying. Since when has it become ok to mistreat customers to enforce social distancing? Awful.
Excellent
Americanos are always on point and their gelato is amazing!
I needed to burn some time before my flight out so I ventured around Little Italy before stumbling upon this coffee shop. Simple little coffee shop with a great little back patio (shared with a pizza shop next door & apartments)! I decided to be basic and got a ice blended mocha and to my surprise, it wasnt overwhelming sweet with a great balance of flavors!
A nice comfortable place to get coffee and a bite to eat. Its in the Little Italy area of town which I love to visit. Its not too far from the SD Airport driving either. Wifi is fast and there is plenty of outdoor seating with a nice ambience. I would definitely come here again.
Nice coffee and excellent customer service.
I used to go here a lot, but one day everything changed. They switched their coffee (def a downgrade), and their service just started to go down. I Ordered a latte in a ceramic MUG. The barista pointed to the mug I wanted it made in and I said yes. I went to go grab my coffee and it was in a paper cup. Call me crazy but you don’t drink authentic coffee in a paper cup. Especially when I paid $6.00 for it and am having it right outside. No need to waste that paper. I told the barista I didn’t want it in the paper cup and he yelled at me and told me he couldn’t do anything about it. He completely ignored me and wouldn’t even make eye contact. The service has been bad ever since. The only reason I’m giving it two stars instead of one is because I USED to have a good experience. I’m sad to see a business go downhill but maybe hire more pleasing people next time because after all, customer service is 99% of your business’ success.
