The baked goods are great but the management needs to get their act together. We came an hour after they opened and they had nothing on the shelves and they didnt have pudding or salted foam. I also dont like it when I order a drink, pay, and then the person making it tells me they dont have an ingredient. Now, I am locked in.. The cashier told us that bc it was an hour after they opened, they dont have the stuff yet. Huh? That is the time that u SHOULD have all the ingredients. Thats why we come early in the morning! No one made salted foam or pudding before business hours. Is this how a bakery should function? I mean its not that big of a deal in the scheme of life but this is no way to do business. We went to another 85 degrees for lunch and they had full stock everything. Not a brand or employees issue, it is purely bad management...
It has been a very bad experience since I drove 45 mins to buy a cake yesterday for my son 21 birthday. I ordered the Black Forest cake, but when I got home I found out it was the red velvet cake. It is unbelievable because the cake they gave us doesn’t taste good at all with a very dry texture. I am wondering if they are just trying to get rid of their old ugly cakes.
Wish they had locations in the Midwest. Great baked goods and love their Passion fruit green tea
Great pastry. Its like a French Vietnamese bakery that also serves coffee house type drinks. The pastries arent all sweet there are savoury ones as well. The prices are mid-range. Overall its a great place to pick up a treat.
Love the cakes here! The Boba Milk Teas are also delicious 😋!
I had a taro roll from this place two years ago when I was visiting SD. I couldnt stop thinking about it. I never stopped thinking about it. Couldnt make them myself, too complicated. I returned to San Diego on a work trip...but my ulterior motive, my true motive, was to return to this restaurant and once again taste the sweet taste of paradise made pastry that is their taro roll.I went home and turned my thermostat to 85 degrees.I will name my child Taro Roll.It is truly a crime 85 degrees isnt on the east coast.
10 customers capacity due to COVID-19 regulations. Waiting outside to be called in. Free parking share with other stores and close to Target and El PoloLoco. Price is fair and quality and freshness are awesome!Fresh bakery with variety of Tea, Coffee and Smoothies. Our favorite is Tiramitsu, double cheese cake, White Chocolate moose and Strawberry 🍓cake. No pictures since it was gone before get to the house.
My girl loves the tiramisu and black forest sliced cake. I got the blueberry cheesecake. I think the deserts are priced very fair and service is always fast and friendly.
I love all their breads. My favorite is the cheesy garlic bread. Their cakes are awesome, ordered the deluxe chocolate mousse cake and its divine. It is not super sweet.
Delicious Taiwanese style breads and cakes. They sell mooncakes as well. Best time to visit 12pm-3pm. A long list of different kinds of drinks.
Very good food and fast service, despite having long lines. Well worth the wait. Would recommend to anyone who likes good disserts including red bean buns, fruit cakes, chocolate mousse and everything in between.
First time here. Very unique items/selection. They bring the items out fresh from the back periodically.
Great place to go enjoy a delicious pastry and ☕. If one has never been here, taro bread is a must. Customer service at this store was not that great since they did not know their menu and they rushing the order even though there was no one else waiting.
I never heard of this bakery until our vacation. Bought 3 different baked goods and they were all amazing. Found out Austin, TX has two. Will have to go again.
Absolutely love this place! Should open more in North County San Diego! Killer place. Its always worth the drive!
This is incredible setup and eye candy to just look at what they got. Limited seating you may need to wait for a table but no table service here. You walk in straight to the goodies and load up your tray and head to cashier (expect a line) weekend super busy, great taste and experience you guys did great job 👍
Decently priced pastry items that are fresh. The sweet items are better than the savory based on the few times Ive been here. If youve lived in Asia and are missing that bakery feel, this is a great place to stop. The milk tea bun is one of my favorites.
I used to love coming to this bakery, but this time, as if the store was not ready to open. A lot of our favorites were not even there. The store only offered a few varieties. We came at 8:30am on Sunday. Any bakery I know, usually open with full varieties bakeries on the display early in the morning. I dont know if this is because of the pandemic that the store doesnt have enough crew to run the store.
If you love Delicious Fresh cream cakes, 85 degrees is the right choice..Blueberry Pastries,Strawberry Mousse Cake,Mango cream Brûlée Cake,Black Forest Cake andCoffee Cakewould taste good anytime..Also the Mango panna cota is exquisite..I’ve seen freshly baked goodies too.. But have never tasted them.. Visually, they look soft and fresh..Ambience is good.. Everything is a bit costly.. But that’s ok..
I love the Black Forest, it’s spongy and moist. The pastries & sweets are freshly made and really good. I like my Iced Peach Green Tea Boba. The place is clean and staff are very friendly.
Wonderful pastries! Love the chocolate brownie cookie. But the run out of most items by dinner time.
Taiwanese fusion bakery with an interesting and eclectic pastry menu. This place can get really crowded but the line moves really quickly. The staff isnt very knowledgeable about their products and are programmed to just work quickly, so they arent very helpful or patient with questions. Also things run out quickly so come early.
Fantastic for sweet treats and boba! Fresh and made multiple times a day. Clean and super well managed.
Good selection of items. Lacks labeling of items. Chocolate Chip bun my favorite!!
This place is such a dangerous place to go to! 😆 🤣 Almost everything here is soooo good! The last time I was here I had this butter milk croissant and OMFG delish! Luckily my friend and I were on the road eating it or we would have ended up buying more. Also if you are a coffee drinker, you must try the sea salt coffee.
Sure glad we discovered this place! Always a good sign when you show up and there’s a line out the door. Bought a big bag of items and enjoyed every one of them.
I was here on July 13, 2017 at around 13:30 after shopping nearby Target. My friends decided to order some bakery goods and 3 Large Ice Sea Salt Coffee. Several years ago, I would make trips up north to OC and LA. The Irvine location of 85C Bakery cafe was always the spot. It is nice that they finally brought it here to several locations in San Diego. I will be honest though that some of my friends stop going to road trip and up to Irvine because they decided to open up several locations in San Diego. Thanks globalization. For those of you who have never been to 85C bakery cafe, you come in, grab a tray, and start picking your bakery goods. They can be priced anywhere from $1.50 to $3 range. In terms of food taste, some of their bakeries are good, some are okay, and the rest are forgettable. They have good selection of drink. Drinks prices range from $3 to $5ish. Today, I chose the sea salt coffee. It was good, but I think a bit salty to me. I feel like the one at Irvine made it better. There was cream at that location when they first made it. Surprisingly, this kept me awake until 330 the next day though. The tart that I had was great. I do not know how to describe, but it was not bad, but good. The service is good. Workers yell out fresh bread every time a new set is cooked. When I went to pay, the cashier was polite and rang out order. The wait for the drink can be a little while, but it was busy. I say about a little more than 5 minutes. The store looks spacious, but it does not look like it has that many tables and chairs. Parking is easy to find.TL;DR: The sea salt coffee was good and the tart was great. However, I feel that the location at Irvine is better, both in foot traffic and the quality of the food. Still do come here to try it, but to me I will still make that drive to Irvines 85C.
Great selection. Friendly service. Spacious building.
Delicious each and every time. Theyve done well being attentive to the covid-19 pandemic. Nothing but praise for this location. Most recently bought: Red Velvet Cake for a graduation. The flavors were just splendid. Also couldnt go wrong with an oolong milk tea. Tasty stuff in this place. Youll love it too.
Staple sweets and pastry stop. Really cant go wrong with the bakeryThere are better places for boba tho...
Great selection and love hearing Fresh Bread when something comes out.
Clean new store with many bread options. Didnt like the mango cake and was a bit pricey.
Most of my experience here have been pleasant. There may be a couple of instances where I felt rushed at the cashier. Bake goods and drinks are always very good an+ fresh. Is it clean? Before the COVID Lockdown, sometimes the eating area does get really yucky. I think its the customers that dont at least clean up after themselves, and during peak hours, it can get out of control with sanitation.
This place is the bomb. Not only are the pastries and cakes delicious, but the drinks are terrific! I nearly always go here whenever I need a cake or boba. They have a variety of pastries, of which all are enticing. That being said, it can get very busy. If you need a cake or drink, it is best to order online. All in all, this is one of my favorite dessert places to go to.
NOT A FAN 🤬. The second to last time I went there, which was before the pandemic, I bought their full sized mango cake. That was disappointing, the mango cream was too sweet and the cake you can taste as obviously dry, but it was a interesting experience picking up the bread like a buffet. I went to go pick up a full sized mothers day sweet strawberry cream yesterday. They didnt have option to order online, so I ordered the cake on the phone they didnt ask for my email to sent the receipt, they asked my phone number but still didnt send me the receipt. I wish they had a separate entrance or like a smaller line for those who ordered ahead but no everyone stood in the same line, of ten or more people, what is the point of me waiting again of I ordered ahead? When I got in The staff were pretty rude two people asked me If I had a receipt twice, even after I explained twice to each of them how I ordered a cake with them, paid for it on the phone, and they didnt send me a receipt. They had a really annoyed look on their face, I had a reservation that was 30 minutes away until I stood in a 20 minute line I asked them Hey, can you hurry up? I have a reservation in like 10 minutes, They finally dragged themselves into the back and indeed they found my cake with a paid sign on it, and they asked if it was my name, and it was. The end result I missed my lunch reservation and the restraunt was overbooked for the day. I had to find another restraunt which wasnt overbooked since every where we went yesterday all the restraunts were overbooked, when I got there I finally noticed, I asked the 85° Degrees Bakery people, to add in a extra white chocolate piece that says Happy 18th mothers day on top of the cake, instead they shoved it to the side on a plastic bag instead of putting it on the cake where it would be melted since it would shared the cakes coldness. So at the end of the day they made me pay $33 for a drier than hell cake, which was packed with over sweetness, and chocolate piece that was super closed to melting If I hadnt noticed. I literally threw up for twenty minutes after eating only two bites of the cake. Oh ya, the whipped cream? That tasted like blobs of air, no sweetness just white blobs of air. Anyways, I am seriously disappointed and you better believe I am not coming back! 😡🤬😡🤬.
Some pretty good baked goods. Always fresh and the place is always clean and all the baked goods are individually wrapped. The coffee I had was a little watery but not bad. The staff is pretty friendly. I think I would like to see some more baked goods that dont have like cream and other fillings.
I like going to this location....they are always very busy....I like they are following limited capacity, masks, etc.....their oolong zebra tea is the bomb.....plus their taro is amazing but always run out early....you have to be there early......thai milk the is also delicious...I will recommend this to my family and friends....A+++++++
Great selection of cakes, breads, pastries, coffees. They use less sugar and oil. Pretty much everything is great. I go here often and pretty much rotate between everything. If i have to recommend something that would be matcha chocolate bun and mushroom bread. If youve been to a 24 hour fitness you know that there is usually something wrong with the place. Sometimes its towels being strewn across the floor, no paper towels in the dispenser, or perhaps broken equipment. Relative to these almost ubiquitous characteristics this location wasnt bad. When I was there it was clean, everything seemed to be working, and surprisingly there was paper towels and fully stocked sanitation bottles. This location is on the smaller end so I assume at busier times it could be difficult to find equipment thats not being used.
Nice new store. Lots of options.
This place is amazing if you have not tried it its definitely worth it. They sell gourmet pastries at very low prices.
Great service, lovely as well as great tasting cakes, pastries and drinks. Plus happy service!
I love the marble taro! Its so hard to get sometimes. The bread here is so scrumptious!
Light and fresh (and a little too sweet) patisserie-style baked goods.
Love this place. The Selection of pastries are so fresh. The coffee Carmel coffee so tasty.
A decent selection, although they can probably have more. During COVID, you stand outside until someone lets you in. As soon as you enter you grab a tray and a set of tongs and let your eyes (stomach) do the picking. Everything is already individually packaged, so once you are done they simply transfer your items into a box or bag. Since the dinning area is closed, you figure they would re-do the line at the registers. They have the space, so they should zig-zag it a little better. Leave the front a little less cluttered. Also, since we are touching trays/tongs, the door monitor should also ensure patrons apply hand sanitizer. Oh well. Pastries are still great, and Mondays they usually have some drink special. So if you were gonna visit, I would recommend coming on a Monday. ;)
The bread is very delicious
Great cakes and bread. Always a line at the door
Very delicious bakery and good cakes for birthday. Their products are not cheap but worth the money. I like chocolate mousse cake the most.
Great pastry. Great ambience.
Best pastries & breads ever! Love their smoothies also!
We drive over 15 miles to this bakery. Everything fresh, tasty and delicious salted coffee.
Cake and bakery stuff is fresh. Very Asian tasting basket items.
It is different from usual bakery sweetness.
Love this place, not a Mexican bakery (from a biased Mexican reviewer) but great pastries. Be sure not to buy a non-sweet empanada thinking it has a sweet stuffing, I bought a spinach one thinking it was an apple turnover.
Honey Sponge Cake was delicious!
Staff is always nice even when they have a full house. The staff was helpful and kind. This place has an awesome atmosphere. Not so close to my office, unfortunately.
My wife dropped TWO drinks as soon as we got to our car. The employees were so accommodating when we called to ask if they could remake them. Wonderful customer service. And great social distancing in store.
Food was fine. People were fine. Coffee was not fantastic. But what the heck is going on with all the single use plastic!? Is it really necessary to wrap each item individually in a piece of plastic that cant be recycled? (Hint: Its not.) Its 2020. In CA. The lack of awareness here is atrocious. Wont return simply because of the amount of plastic involved.
Really good place.
The selection is always good at this location! They keep the cubbies full!
Amazing bakery! I was in town for a few days and visited almost every day. The variation and selection among the breads, pasteries, and desserts is fantastic. A huge selection of delicious treats, all of which are of high quality. The self serve style of selection took the pressure off of the buying process, as I could take as much time as I wanted without feeling pressured by slowing other patron down. Also, the staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Cant say enough about this tasty local chain!
Cant wait until they can open for indoor seating!
Such a awesome place! Best prices around and staff is so friendly.
Best Jasmine tea Ive had in a while. The bakery was great with so much varieties of goodness.
Service is good. Boba is not always on point. They can definitely offer more goods in their stores. Weekends they are always low on stuff I actually want.*Some people dont read the sign and cut in front of you to go in when theres two signs that clearly says wait for staff to let you in. Unless you thete for pickup orders, stay in your place in line.
Great desserts. Huge lines today. Shopping online and picking up at the store seems to be the best option to shop there during the pandemic. No lines for pickup. Excellent food.
Taro bread is what my wife gets every week. This place is in the Target shopping center on Mira Mesa Blvd in San Diego California. I find good things to eat there also !!
Excellent and friendly staff
Great baked goods and very efficient service
I love the baked goods here, especially since they are not overly sweet. This bakery has some seating areas for you to enjoy your goodies especially as you wait for your drink. Long line here but so worth thg he wait. The only thing I dont like is that they put each baked pastry into its own plastic bag. Many people buy more than 5 items, so thats a lot of plastic baggies!. Plastic is a major problem on this planet. I wish they would consider using paper boxes or put a few small goods in same bag. Otherwise this is a delicious bakery worth visiting
