I would like to start by saying I don’t usually write reviews. I’ve been doing business with this TSO for years. The Doctor’s, the other staff, and the selection of glasses has always been good. However, my last experience was excellent and exponentially better all because of a staff member, Kimberly, her professionalism and friendliness needed some recognition. Unfortunately in my experience professionalism and friendliness is not encountered very often.

Not local. The company sold out to MyeyeDR. and are very cooperate. I am not sure why they have not updated their name in the appropriate places, but it is misleading. I went in for a routine eye exam and spent an hour and a half in their office, with no logical reason. They are overpriced and when I asked for a breakdown of cost, I was not able to get a straight answer. I truly want to give this place a single star, but the staff was not terrible so I am going with two. Would not recommend nor would I go back. Support San Marcos and stay local.

I was definitely unsatisfied with the service I received at Texas State Optical. They had poor communication on how to take care of my lenses as well as not communicating that I had to purchase a year warranty for my glasses. I used the cleaner they provided and it resulted in damaging the reflective coating on my lenses. I wanted contacts as well and they charge a ridiculous contact fitting fee. I regret ever going to Texas State Optical.

I called to talk with Dorian regarding a previous phone call we had for an interview. I called on Friday July 30 and was told he was with a patient, left a message to call me, he never returned my call. I called this morning Monday August 2nd, I was put on hold for 15min...I called back to speak with a manager and was told it was him, I was put on hold again and then was told he had left the office (the front office person seemed to be laughing about it). I found this very inappropriate, all I wanted to do was apologize to him for our first phone call and let him know I was sorry for not scheduling an interview at that time. I have not interviewed in 14yrs, very new to the process. I have come to the conclusion that I would not want to work for this office anyway. I feel that with my 14 yrs of Optometry experience I would have been a great asset to your office. But it was not meant to be. I feel you may want to reevaluate your management.I tried letting Dr. Stanfield know how his office is ran but obviously that is not possible, I can only imagine how they treat patients they dont want to deal with.

I visited here 1 year ago. I got an exam for contacts and glasses. When they gave me the contacts, I had to squint to see road signs. I went back and they gave me a stronger sample and they were fine. I went back for the glasses, but couldnt see out of them. They hurt my eyes and gave me headaches. I told them right away and their response was, Keep wearing them, your eyes will adjust. Youll get used to them. One year later, Im wearing my old glasses because I can see better out of them. Ive never had such a botched prescription before. I hate that I wasted so much money at this place just to end up using my old glasses.

I had a great experience! Dr. Stanfield was a friendly professional with an excellent attitude. Sam was extremely knowledgeable and fast paced in her intake assessment and Jennifer hooked me up with a great deal. Thanks guys I’ll see y’all next year!

I like to shop local, and I used their optometrist. The double check my prescription for the glasses I got after cataract surgery and Im 20/20.

I always feel so welcome as a patient at this office. I appreciate all the safety measures they’ve taken in the face of the pandemic. Dr Salazar was so kind, helpful, and thorough with her exam. My tech (I think her name was Adrianna?) was so patient with me and answered all of my questions. Best eye doc office in San Marcos for sure !

TSO offers excellent customer service! I was greeted at the door by Cathie and Susanna who are very familiar faces. The technicians are very knowledgeable and customer service oriented. Jenn also provided excellent customer service when assisting me in selecting new glasses. My overall experience is exceptional! Today was my first visit with Dr. Salazar, she provided perfect care to my eyes. Thanks so much.

If I could I would give them no stars I use to love TSO but ever since this Myeyedr took over its been a disaster my son has not received his glasses still it has been 3 months now he had to go in 4 times cause first they had a insurance problem then they supposable the glasses he picked they didnt have no more then god know what had to go in again, then for the forth time what ever company that was supposed to ship his frames was taking forever. they really need to get it took gather I am not happy with them at all . Do not waste your time or money here they will just lose your glass or not order them I have no idea why they are taking so long.

Exam was quick and very thorough! After my exam Tabby helped me pick out the perfect frames. She had lots of patience as I walked around the store for a while, trying on different pairs of glasses. She was very informative about the different lens types and coatings that can be put on them. At the end she helped me feel comfortable with my purchase and made sure I got what I wanted in my pair of glasses.

Been going here for years, not a fan of the online appointment..my child needs glasses & I scheduled her an online appointment and I got an email saying rejected & so I tried again.. rejected again..now being pushed out 2 weeks from original appointment I tried to schedule, I call the office & her insurance was on file but the online appointment wasnt accepting it.. I asked the appointment setter if an appointment is rejected can you look up the insurance because its on file... no answer.. am going elsewhere.. very frustrated with the online appointment TSO has.. was able to schedule at a different office & not being pushed out...

Shady. I over paid (was overcharged) and have been trying to get my money back for a month now. Ive called numerous times, been promised phone calls back from the billing department that have never happened. I have sent emails that have never been acknowledged. They claim to not have the EOB but I know they have gotten at least 3 sent to them and they were paid within 3 days by insurance and I paid them immediately. I have submitted a complaint to the BBB, left reviews on Facebook and Google and have submitted a dispute with my credit card company as it looks like this may be the only way I will see my money back.

Everyone here is so nice and friendly! Jen was extremely helpful in assisting me pick out a frame that looked best on me, and was just overall very lovely, bubbly, and welcoming. I can’t remember her name, but the woman at the front desk who checked me in, was the exact same way. It was my first visit but 10/10 will be my go to place for all my eye care needs from now on, all because of these great people!

I have seen all of the Dr.s at this location and everyone has been very nice and helpful. I just saw Dr. Salazar yesterday for the first time and she was a real joy. Every tech we worked with was great and Jenn helped me get some cute new glasses. Would recommend

Disappointed at this TSO location. If this franchise wants to pick and choose what gets sanitized the glasses that patients are trying on and putting back should be the number one thing. But it is not. They want you to social distance but sanitizing is not their concern. Bring wipes cause they dont have any. In the beginning of this pandemic it was a concern now, its whatever try them on or not we dont care. Good thing VSP is taken in other places.

Our appointment started with Joseph who was professional and cheerful. He did an excellent job explaining each procedure. Dr. Turner was her usual amazing self! She has a pleasant “bedside manner”’ and puts you at ease with her apparent knowledge and expertise. Our visit ended with Melony who helped us pick our perfect frames. She too was friendly and knew what she was doing. All in all a top notch experience. This superb staff is why my husband and I continue to make the 30 minute drive to San Marcos for our eye-care needs!

The entire team at TSO is great and very welcoming. I was seen by Jonathan and Dr Salazar and both were extremely thorough and helpful. They have technology that allows for a smooth and quick visit. Rosana was very helpful explaining exactly how my insurance would cover my frames and lenses and helped me pick out an amazing pair for myself. Big thank you to the entire TSO staff!

I had a very nice experience at TSO, I took my dad for an exam and to get his prescription, everyone in this place is so nice and professional, they had a lot of patience with my 74 YO dad, they made us feel really comfortable in all the possible ways. I highly recommend TSO

A fantastic place for eye exams. Everyone from the receptionist, to the nurse and doctor were extremely professional and were very thorough with explanations. The equipment is definitely newer and gives you the option to not have to have your eyes dilated which is a great plus. The frames specialist actually took time to walk through with me while I picked what I wanted and even gave truthful input on what looked best, not just try and upsell the expensive stuff. Definitely a great place if you are looking for a new optometrist

I have been a patient since 2015, and every aspect of the practice is outstanding. The front desk is extremely helpful, especially navigating through complex insurance problems. The technicians are always super friendly, and treat you like a person! Dr. Turner is by far the most exceptional doctor around. She truly cares and helps you understand your plan of care, taking time to explain things in kind way. Outstanding service all around.

This TSO location is great. Ive taken my family here since we relocated to the area, and we havent had a bad experience yet. The front office staff is great, and the optometrists are top class. Their examinations are very thorough, and they take the time to explain everything to you. I appreciate that they dont use aggressive sales tactics, but tell you what your options are and let you decide how to proceed with your care.

Adriana is the nicest front desk employee. She is very accommodating, sweet and understanding! Would definitely be back just for her glowing personality! And Dr. Turner is very nice and a great doctor!

Ive been going there for 10+ years now, really nice staff, very friendly and chatty. They make you feel comfortable and cared for. Melanie was super cool and helpful for the second year helping me pick glasses.

Dr Stanfield and Dr Turner have seen many members of my family over the past years and they are great. From the moment you walk into the reception and see the very prompt ladies working hard to take care of everyone, to the moment when you buy to glasses and the consultants help you. One of the consultants, Jen, has helped my wife before and she couldn’t be happier. Then Nick in the lab did so well with my wifes glasses sunglasses.

They are always so accommodating and helpful. Especially with everything going on right now with Covid-19 it was still an amazing experience! Dr. Stanfield and his staff are the best!

My daughter had been having difficulty seeing even wearing her contacts, so I brought her here to get an eye exam. The front office staff were friendly and we were seen right away. Ashley helped us first and was very friendly and knowledgeable with her advice to my daughter about how she should be caring for her eyes/contacts. She was also very patient with my daughter although my daughter was anxious about part of the exam. She made us all feel at ease and laugh. Dr. Turner asked my younger daughter what the book that she was teasing was about. She actually listened to the whole explanation:) She was very professional and pleasant and worked to get my daughters correct prescription. Davion helped us pick out frames and went over the insurance with us and helped us understand how it worked. He was extremely patient as my daughter was being super picky about her frames, and he gave her many options and remained calm even though she was driving me bonkers. Because of these great people that we came in contact with - we had a great and successful visit and were able to get everything she needed to be able to see clearly now! Thanks guys!

Great customer service is hard to come by these days it seems and when i find a business that provides it, im always grateful and want to share. Stacey did an exceptional job in my contact lens exam, as well as all the ladies here. I highly suggest this business for anyone needing or searching for an optometrist/eye care services.

My kids and I have been patients here for years. Dr. Stanfield is so hilarious and always makes us laugh. The staff is super friendly and works hard to make sure that you’re happy with your glasses, even if it takes you forever to decide on a pair :)

Ive been seeing Dr Stanfield for my glasses and contacts since 2003-04. Nice clinic and nice staff. Conveniently located next to my primary care doctor and my dentist. They occasionally run late for their appointments but honestly I have never been to a Doctors office where that doesnt happen.

Dr. Stanfield was great! He got me and my son in for eye exams and explained any questions I had. Even gave us some additional information to help us both. The optical manager was fantastic! She was super helpful at getting glasses and sunglasses and even extra glasses for me to get us all set. She went above and beyond what I expected or could have asked. As a single mom with three kids any assistance is a life saver. I can’t thank all of them enough. I made the appointments online 2 weeks ago and their online system had been broken (unknown to me) so it took a little bit and they had to squeeze us in, but they totally made up for the slight inconvenience. Thank you TSO!

I wanted to second Pauls review, it was clear that the eye doc AND his assistant were trying to sell me a certain brand of lenses. After I already mentioned that my previous brand was the most comfortable lens I had ever worn. When the assistant walks in saying Oh youre going to LOVE these lenses, when he had never met me and knew nothing about my Rx, it gives me a creepy feeling. We should get money out of the political system, and we should also have doctors prescribing what is best for each individual patient, not CLEARLY influenced by incentives they get from a certain company. It wouldnt have bothered me as much if I werent having problems with the lenses. Update to come...

I went in to purchase new frames with no idea what style of frame I wanted. Jen helped my picky self choose a frame that looked great on me! Every little wait time!

Every staff member was high spirited, kind, and professional. I was given tests that I had never had performed before and they explained what each was for as well as my options if there was a fee associated. All specialists listened to my honest but horrible eye care practices and shared their experiences instead of shaming me like all previous optometrists had. I am extremely grateful for this place and will recommend it to everyone I know.

First, they helped me with my insurance. My appointment was right on time, like 3 minutes They told me what they were planning to do (before they did it) They answered all my questions. They were all polite and professionId recommend them to ANYONE..

When I asked the lady how much longer on the wait. She said I dont know Im not back there.Do you want to reschedule didnt even try to help me out. Somebody else called back to apologize, but I decided to take my service else where. DO not recommend, on the other hand TSO in Kyle is very fast and respectful of there patients

Texas State Optical of San Marcos is a wonderful place to get your eye exams and prescriptions taken care of. It was very easy to make an appointment by phone. All of the employees there were very friendly and helpful. I am definitely going to continue to go here as long as I am in San Marcos.

The staff were professional and treated me like I was family. Dr Turner was effective in communicating my problems and what we needed to do to fix me. Optician Jen was a 10. She was cheerful, encouraging and patient with her patient. Please update your intake system with pre-printed forms with my info filled in and use IPads to speed this process. I hate filling out med forms.

This is a great place to get an eye exam or to purchase glasses. They have state of the art technology and a very large selection of frames. They also have a fabulous staff who will help you select your frames, and ensure a proper fit. I highly recommend this place!

Everyone here was friendly and informative, several people checked on me to see if I had any questions, all with smiling faces! I agree with that past review, they have a very lovely staff. They were very, very busy but I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time, which I did not mind since they were so sweet.

The ladies in the front were great: friendly and efficient in handling our 3 family appointment, including everyones different insurance. They took care of 3 family members today. I am so glad for Saturday appointments; hope that never goes away. It is most convenient and certainly a commodity that sways my choice to use this optical. Techs Amy and Sarina were friendly but knowledgeable and very patient while caring for us, as was Jen, our optician. She had great suggestions for final decisions on frames. Dr Stanfield was awesome. He engaged every one in conversation and put us all at ease. He talked to each member about our individual findings and care plan, and treated each of us, like it was his pleasure treating us today. Thank you TSO, (been using them since 2013) Youre still the best in my personal opinion.

Service was prompt, would have liked the doctor to spend a little more time getting my reading script a little more tweaked. I wasnt giving enough time to choose the right magnification. My fault for not asking for more time. I know time is money and she had more patients waiting. Ill ask next time.

I went to the TSO today in order for them to repair my glasses. They were glad to see what could be done until, they noticed that they no longer had a contract with the specific company. Excuse me I paid close to 400. for them 3 or so years ago. Im 63 and barely use them unless I drive. Last year I went in for a repair because the lense was bowed and was told the wasnt much they could do about that. TODAY they used a rubber band and sent me on my way stating their contract ran out last year.I have been a customer with TSO since my early thirties, my last pair lasted 10 years. If they still had the specific company on contract my frames would have been replaced. I WILL NOT RETURN to a company that does not stand by a product that cost me months to save for.

These guys are like car salesman. Not once did they try to tell me if I needed glasses. They were to busy trying to verfy my health Insurance so they could run another test..sold me $39 just to store my photo. Then they wanted another $130 to run another test that I didnt need..finally they send me to a closer who tried selling me a pr of glasses for $500Not once did they offer a pr that my Insurance covered!!Money hungrey ppl!

Fortunately for me I met Tabby. The best customer service I have ever experienced.

Scheduled an appointment a week in advance online, showed up for the appointment and was advised that online appointments were not solidified appointments. (I got an email the next day staying there was a scheduling conflict) I didn’t receive a phone call or email prior to my appointment, so how was I supposed to know? They were able to schedule me three business days out. Took my son out of school (again) and waited over an hour and 15 mins before I finally asked the staff when we would be soon. Was told another 15ish mins. I told them we couldn’t wait any longer and we need to reschedule ... they didn’t have any appointments for three weeks. I left and will have to look for another optometrist :/

I love going here the time they take with you to insure you are satisfied and have the right look. I will not go anywhere else.

Since moving to the area in 2004, TSO San Marcos & Dr. Stanfield have been my familys primary eye care provider. The staff is very friendly, compassionate & the office environment calm & inviting. I must admit that we havent gone anywhere else, but that is due to the great service weve received since the beginning. An additional bonus is Dr. Stanfields vision for missions, which is huge with my family.

I absolutely love my glasses! Dr. Sabol and Esme were really great. They were a lot more welcoming than the staff from my last visit. Rosana was so patient with me while I tried on 50 pairs of glasses and had lots of really good suggestions. I’ll definiley be back!

AMAZING! I cant say enough good things! The staff was prompt with my emergency, everyone was super friendly and helpful. The doctor even checked to find me the cheapest meds. Dr. Stanfield is a Saint. I will always return to this facility. Thanks again yall.

Takes to long for the glasses to come in, there are no excuses for this. Can get and have gotten quality glasses from other places in less than a day. Only TSO takes more than a week. I give 5 star for the exams and 1 star because I have to wait way way to long for my glasses to come in. I give 4 star to the work force because they need to be a little more honest.

Called and made an appointment and was told I need to call to verify what my vision benefits are if I want to know prior to my appointment. I tried to understand the reasoning why because Ive never had this issue with any other vision office with myself or my boys but was told it would cause a predeterminaton of benefits set aside for the day they verify and that would leave my benefits unavailable for the day of my appointment. Well I called my insurance and they disagreed. All the rep at TX optical had to do was pick up the phone and call. Considering I dont file to vision insurance it would be hard for me to know what the doctor is going to bill or what codes to ask about.....Thanks but this only makes me worry that any future issues will be handled with the same disregard....

Top-notch outfit. Really nice employees (they even gave me a home-made, chocolate chip cookie). Always high caliber work. Special thanks to Gary for bailing me out (again). Dude is a wizard when it comes to fixing glasses. Especially for clumsy customers that insist on expensive glasses.

Eye doctor is so funny and good. He tweeted my prescription so I could see better for both far and near sight.

Where do I start, Dr.stanfield was great with my patient care, and his amazing tech Ashley. Tso has a variety of glasses at FANTASTIC price ranges. My experience there from the beginning was stupendous, they have these really comfortable chairs that felt like I was sitting on a cloud. The sales representative that helped me pick the perfect glasses was super super helpful! I’m not too sure if her name was Mel or Melanie, everyone is super nice here. My daughter was seen over 3 weeks ago. Was guaranteed her glasses would be in by last Wednesday. Still not in. She has called multi times and has not received a call back even though they promised they would. Now I am waiting to talk to someone but of course everyone is to busy to deal with this issue. Hundreds out of pocket plus insurance.

They suck. Called a week before I showed up. Ask the lady about walk insurance. No problem we stay open till 6 on Thursdays. Get there at 5 on Thursday. Was told sorry we dont accept walk insurance. This is after i left early from work to make it there before 5pm. No help what so ever. Rudest people work there. I will go anywhere but this store. Their loss I was going to buy glasses and sun glasses today. Thought Walmart was bad.

Ive seen Dr. Turner the last 4+ years for my annual eye exam. Over the last year, Ive developed a serious eye infection in my right eye (lster had chelazion removal surgery by an opthamologist in Austin) and she worked me in right away, was incredibly thorough and got my eye healthy again. I completely trust her judgement and expertise. Shes smart & compassionate too.
