I was greeted by the service advisor when I arrived. The customer waiting area is clean and comfortable. Access to wifi which enables me to work while I wait. The service department is quick and efficient.
My wife and I just bought our first Volvo from Smothers with the assistance of Mauricio. Not only was he extremely detailed on showing us the different models, he was extremely accommodating. We are from the city, so we wanted to know how it felt like to parallel the vehicle. Mauricio created a parallel parking space, just for us, using the cars on the lot. We were very specific on the options we wanted and he combed the local inventory for the car that fit our standards. Not once, throughout the entire 2 hours we were there, did Mauricio pressure us to purchase the vehicle. In the end, we are satisfied with our Volvo and will be coming back in the future.
Our experience with Ron Copes was fantastic. He is smart, funny and provides excellent advice without pressuring at all. Love the car of course too!
John White and the crew at Smothers Volvo took such good care of me and my family! This really was such a hassle free and easy car buying experience. I live about 3.5 hours away from Santa Rosa so everything we did was over the phone and via text. Honestly I was a little nervous about buying a car in the middle of a pandemic, and also since we dont live nearby; that we might get taken advantage of. That was not the case! I told John exactly what I wanted and he got it for me, in under our budget! I couldnt be happier with every aspect of our purchase. They took care of everything, and all I had to do was show up and get the keys! They even offered to deliver the car to my driveway, but I really wanted to drive it home myself! If you are in the market for a new or used Volvo, Smothers is the place to go!!! Thanks again John!!! Oh and by the way I friggin love this car!!!
We just bought a CPO XC40 from Smothers European Volvo, and the experience was very pleasant. Brandon was really responsive with all my questions and request thru email, and Mauricio was trying to make our visit as comfortable as possible. Just like others have mentioned, we didnt feel any pressure to make a purchase. We saw some additions items that needs to be addressed before delivery, and Pedro didnt push back on any of them. They ended up delivering the car in Dublin and saved me another long drive. The Finance person also didnt try to push us in buying any of the extended warranty/ package either. That actually allowed me and my wife to do some calculation to see if they make sense. We probably went thru 4 car purchase in the last 8 years, and this experience was the best. Even after the purchase, they are still very eager to help when I have questions.
I feel staff are attentive, knowledgeable and trustworthy and I always feel confident that my vehicle is in good condition.
The Sales people are very rude and disrespectful.
I have a Volvo from Smothers, thanks to Ron and his team. Their sales and service centers are full of kind, honest and competent people who take pride in their work. I highly recommend them.
If you are thinking about buying a car, you need to go to smothers Volvo. my wife and I bought an XC40 a couple years ago and could not be happier. Ron cope was our salesman and he really took care of us!we had a problem with our insurance when we switched it to our new Volvo about 6 months after we bought the car and the manager John white had our back even though it was not really his problem. These guys are the BEST!!
Purchased two vehicles from salesperson, Sheila Hampton, in the last month, and both experiences were flawless. Excellent service, communication, delivery, vehicle condition when received, and quick and easy paperwork. They were competitive and willing to negotiate to make it happen. We live near Sacramento, but definitely worth the effort to purchase from Smothers European in Santa Rosa.
The service team is ALWAYS truly exceptional!!! Every one of them!!! They make it a true privilege to bring our 2 Volvos to Smothers for maintenance and care. This time the repair was needing to take longer than expected, so I was given a wonderful car to drive until I could return for my own car. I feel like your team are all friends that I can rely on for the very best of care... consistently!!!! On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give them a 20!!!
My service contact was nice. Not blown away with the actual service. The Volvo sales guys near the waiting room were pretty rude and their banter was ignorant.
We showed up an hour before close and dealt with Ron. He gave me the information on the vehicles that I wanted. But did not treat us very seriously and rushed us along. He was condescending towards my girlfriend On how to open a door. The only upside was taking a test drive. On our way out he was sure to remind us again to make sure to come in earlier from closing so he could take some time for us. Overall I got the information I needed, but I don’t think being condescending and rushing somebody who’s looking to spend upwards of $60,000 on the vehicle is professional or appropriate. Stopped at BMW on the way out and had an excellent experience. Smothers lost my business.
We got stranded yesterday outside Willets when our usually faithful Sprinter wouldnt start. A tow to the nearest dealership took us to Smothers in Santa Rosa where service advisor Mathew took the most excellent care of us, even waiting late for us to arrive. We got a beautiful sedan for a loaner car, shore power for our camper and, today, the very best attempts to figure out what was wrong. Nothing was found so were back on the road again with our van running just fine. Even though the mechanics couldnt figure it out we are extremely pleased with Smothers and especially with Mathew for the warm welcome and excellent service. Thanks to everyone at Smothers!
After a mix-up on the car I wanted to purchase (mostly my error), they worked with me to get me into a car that I was equally thrilled to own. Experience was very positive.
The staff is always friendly, courteous & professional. A great place to do business with. A very happy & satisfied customer.
THE PARTS TEAM HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY HELPFUL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE EVERY TIME WE CALL. CHRIS WENT THE EXTRA MILE TODAY TO ASSIST IN A DIFFICULT SITUATION AND HE GOT IT DONE! THANKS CHRIS!
I always take my MB Sprinter van to Mercedes dealers for maintenance because I have always received excellent service: top notch parts, knowledgeable mechanics who stand behind their work, and extraordinary customer service. This has proven to be accurate for 3 out of the last 4 MB dealers I have visited UNTIL I visited MB Santa Rosa.I arrived on time for my appointment to investigate a steering vibration and Matt Forsyth checked me in. He was pleasant enough and we had a quick discussion of the symptoms my van was experiencing. I retired to the lounge and prepared to wait for an hour or so. About 4 hours later I finally heard from Matt that the mechanic didnt find any mechanical problems with the steering and that this vibration issue was caused by my overly worn tires. I was surprised to hear this because (a) my tires were not yet worn down to the wear bar, (b) the vibration didnt feel like a tire issue to me, and (c) it took 4 hours to figure this out?. But this was a Mercedes mechanic, the best in the business, so I trusted them. Matt offered to sell me a set of 4 tires but the order wouldnt arrive for four days. I declined because I was under a deadline to continue my drive south to Mexico and couldnt wait around that long.My van was driven back around front and I was also disappointed to see that it had not been washed. The three other dealers I have visited all washed my van without being asked, but apparently this isnt offered at Santa Rosa. I paid the service charge (I guess being told your tires are slightly worn is considered service) and hit the road. At least if my van had been washed I would have felt like I got a little something for my money.I called a few shops along my route but none of them had the tires in stock. Since Matt told me it was just a tire problem and not a mechanical problem, it didnt seem serious so I decided to drive to Mexico and get new tires on the return trip.On the drive back north I noticed the vibration worsening so I took my van to Mercedes Benz of Van Nuys. Within about two minutes of arriving, the Service Consultant and a mechanic pinpointed the cause of my problem. It was not the tires, it was a loose steering linkage located under the hood. They explained to me how dangerous it was because I could have lost steering at any moment when the bolt loosened all the way out. They fixed the problem in about 1 hour, happily washed my van for me at no additional charge, and they said it was fine to keep the same tires. I paid for the service, and the service consultant suggested I contact MB Santa Rosa and ask them to refund their service charge since they obviously missed the problem; a potentially life-threatening problem.A few days later I called Matt at Santa Rosa, explained the situation, and he said he would talk to his boss and get back to me the next day. Two days later I still hadnt heard back from Matt so I left a voicemail. Another two days later, after no response, I left another voicemail for Matt. I suppose he was hoping I would just give up and go away. After 9 days and 4 calls to Matt with no response, I changed tactics and got a hold of Lisa in service who seemed genuinely interested in helping me.Sure enough, later that day I finally got a call back from Matt and he regretted to inform me that since they actually provided me with a service (suggesting I buy new tires) the service charge would not be refunded. I protested saying they misdiagnosed the problem; it had nothing to do with the tires, in fact they were still on the van and it was driving perfectly now! Matt responded that doctors misdiagnose patients all the time but they still get paid, so they would NOT refund me. I have never experienced such blatantly unethical behavior from any mechanic anywhere, and especially not from a Mercedes dealer. So, unless you enjoy paying for faulty service that could potentially kill you, and terrible customer service that doesnt return your calls, take your business elsewhere.
Good people work here now. Great value
Great salesman and service for you vehiclesAlways nice when your there and no pressure to buy
Their service department is excellent. From the service advisor Alex, to the shuttle drive Rebecca... its always a pleasure bringing my car in.
This place is original parts. Totally recommended.
First class
They took exceptional good care of me. I would Highly Recommend Smothers European
We havent purchased anything from them yet... But they were very friendly and absolutely no pressure when taking some cars out for a test drive.
Excellent service, supportive and trustworthy staffThanks for being so accommodating and sweet.
From the moment I walked into this dealership looking at their pre-owned cars I was impressed by their laid back attitude. Ron Cope their salesman was attentive but he was not all over me like in other dealerships. Ron was available anytime I had questions and he gave me answers to all of my queries. The reason I stopped by Smother’s European was that I was up north and stopped by this dealership on my way back to the SF Peninsula because of seeing an add for a car I wanted. (On Car Gurus)It turns out it was a great car. Being a pre-owned vehicle, I wanted to take it to a trusted mechanic to check it out before buying the vehicle. I didn’t know any in Santa Rosa and John White the sales manager was very understanding and accommodated me by letting me take it back to the SF Peninsula Sunday evening to have my mechanic check it out Monday morning. Ron Cope, Mark Smith and I worked out a price that I thought was very fair before I took it to my mechanic. The car checked out perfectly with my mechanic. I came back Monday afternoon to the dealership and we signed the papers on the deal we had agreed to. I had a pre-approved loan from my local credit union and they were able to honor that loan even though my credit union was more than 70 miles away. I was very impressed and happy as I rode my new high quality pre-owned car out of the Smothers European Dealership.I was even more impressed 2 weeks later. I had a small problem with the Sunroof, so I called John White the Sales Manager. Even though that wasn’t a part of the 30 day limited warranty, he totally took care of the issue after I brought it in and got it taken care of locally. I received a check in the mail covering the entire cost 2 days after getting it fixed. After Smothers European took care of my small sunroof issue I was even more impressed with their integrity. If I lived closer, I would definitely get my vehicle serviced there. If you are looking for a vehicle new or used, I highly recommend Smothers European. FYI, they do have high quality pre-owned cars other than Volvos and Mercedes.Smothers European cares about the customer. They are honest, and have integrity. They are the opposite of what many have in mind when it comes to buying pre-owned vehicles which is why you should check them out! I know I will next time I am in the market for a new or high quality pre-owned car!mahalo,JC
Its my first time to purchase a car in the state, the dealer group help me lot for the loan and insurance search. thanks very much
Consistently good experiences for many years.
It seems that Smothers European Volvo is mostly thought of as a car dealership. Since I chose to purchase my 1998 Volvo S70 T5 (with manual transmission) brand new at the Volvo dealership in San Francisco (through the internet) and not at Smothers, I have always thought of Smothers European as the place that repairs cars. Smothers in Santa Rosa is fairly near my home and convenient. In fact, I have been bringing my Volvo to Smothers regularly throughout the 14 years Ive owned my S70. Ive seen them go from Smothers European, the Mercedes-Benz AND Volvo dealership and repair to a now separate presentation of Mercedes-Benz of Santa Rosa and Smothers European VOLVO. I have worked with the Volvo Service department staff over the years too. Robin Hagerman, Don Brooks, Ken Stanfel and Alex Ruiz have been the main service advisors for me. Robin left over 11 years ago and Don retired some years later. Ken was around for years and left to work at another dealership in San Rafael. Most of the interactions in the service department that Ive had in the last 7 or 8 years has been with Alex Ruiz.Every one of these service advisors have been excellent and thoroughly knowledgeable, especially Ken and Alex. I cannot begin to recall all the work that Smothers Volvo has done to keep my car in pristine operating condition, because I have had my car serviced there many dozens of times in 14 years. Much of the service in the first 5 or 6 years was routine maintenance and tune-ups and then more major repairs followed. My S70 now has nearly 400,000 miles on it and the outstanding technicians at Smothers are a major reason for that performance.I have to say that service at Smothers Volvo is a significant production of teamwork and seamless support. For instance, Alex always gives me very accurate estimates very quickly and schedules me in the workload always making me feel like I am a priority. The parts department almost always has all the parts needed for my repairs and if not get them fairly quickly. For years I would receive a beautiful new Volvo loaner car for every major repair and sometimes even for minor ones. Though since the loaner fleet has been cut way back a few years ago, it is harder to get a loaner. If loaners are not available, Smothers offers a courtesy shuttle that drops off and picks up at where ever and whatever time you need. My car is washed and vacuumed nicely after every single service, even an oil change. The front desk/cashiers are always very polite, friendly and efficient with paper work. Also, Smothers has been very generous to me like in often changing headlight bulbs for me when I stop by unscheduled and doing it immediately with no charge (not even for the halogen light bulb sometimes)! Alex has many times given me better prices for the service and repairs when he didnt have to just to be kind. Another very valuable benefit is their flexibility when Ive needed to use their loaner cars for extended periods and they have never complained. My experiences with Smothers European Volvo Service have consistently been exceptional and I am so happy that they are part of my support community!
Friendly staff and great service department.
Courteous prompt reliable dependable
Great service!
This was far and away the easiest, best car buying experience Ive ever had. Huge shoutout to Brandon, who made the process extremely simple and transparent. Absolutely zero upselling or high pressure sales tactics.I was looking for a new XC40 but became frustrated with the unreasonable markups of nearby Bay Area dealerships due to the current chip/supply shortage. I decided to expand my net to out of town dealers and called Smothers European Volvo about ten minutes before they closed. Brandon picked up the phone, and when I asked for the best deal he could give me on a certain new XC40 they had in stock, I was shocked when he replied with a price that was actually a bit under MSRP. Needless to say, I immediately took Brandon up on the offer, and he spent a great deal of time with me on the call despite it being around closing time.Brandon kept me updated while we sorted out the final details of the sale over the next couple of days. The Millennial in me sincerely appreciated how Brandon was willing to communicate via text. He worked hard to ensure Smothers European came back with a great APR through Volvo Financial when my original lender was being unrelentingly difficult about whether this particular dealer was in their network. When it came time to take delivery of the XC40, Smothers European was even happy to drive the car to my house (1.5 hours away) for no additional charge. Thats service!
