Had 25 minute delay from appointment time until tech called me in for preliminary exam. No explanation for delay. (⭐⭐⭐)Dr. Hans was excellent. She answered my questions clearly and her examination was very thorough.(⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐) I recommend her.
Staff is always so friendly and thorough. I’ve seen several different doctors and have never had a poor experience. Theyre very clear about your insurance benefits from the start and have so many glasses frames to choose from. Sales staff is not pushy and very understanding if you don’t end up purchasing glasses with them.
The building is very clean and equipment is up to date and modern. My doctor was very pleasant and told me exactly what he’s doing. He asked many questions. I felt he has a grip on things. He has a very pleasing personality. The office staff also is tops in making me feel comfortable. A special thanks to Betty. All great staff.

Amy checked me in and she did such an amazing job going over all my information. Lindsay did my pretesting and was very thorough and professional. Dr. Hitzelburger is an amazing doctor and answered all of my questions. Diane helped me with my glasses and I loved the selection she chose for me. She was extremely friendly and sweet. Such a great location, I will definitely be coming back!
My experience with the person (forgot their name) who helped me pick out my glasses was awesome! No complaints there!!!But when I picked them up it was less than enjoyable. They showed me a large card and asked if I could read it. I could, so that was it. They never helped to make sure the glasses fit correctly or made sure the lenses were good. (They’re not). I have to make an appointment to get one lens corrected. They also don’t give you a complimentary bottle of solution to clean your glasses. After paying almost $500 out of pocket you’d think a small bottle wouldn’t be an issue.
Excellent all around. Staff is all so friendly. Dr Castle was great, Sara was the best. Great experience from the minute you walk in. I wouldn’t go anywhere else !

While I was extremely pleased with Dr. Herbart, I cannot say the same for the OptimEyes support staff. Especially the receiptionist Shelly who acts more like a gatekeeper than a receiptionist. You have to get past her to see the doctor and she both knows it and makes it her kingdom.
I always get great service at the Lakeside Henry Ford OptimEyes. I have gone to Dr. Flick for many years. He is the best. The customer service staff that helped me picked out my glasses were Super. They knew exactly what looked good on me. I am happy with my glasses.
Extremely disappointed. I would suggest you all to use another company to ship your packages. My contacts are now damaged and the box my contacts came in literally looks like it was tossed around. Keep in mind the box says “FRAGILE”. I called customer service and they said they cannot help me …. What a joke.

I’ve been going to this location for several years, was great.My recent experience wasn’t great.For starters, the lady helping me select my glasses said my insurance was awful. Huh? I like it.She sold me progressive lens. “You won’t need reading or driving glasses! You’ll use them at work most of the time. One pair of glasses for everything.”Great!!!Nope! Couldn’t read my computer screen.Then, was offered “computer” glasses. Was excited about this.Computer glasses? Can’t see my computer at work (unless I tip my head back), useless.I’m out $200 and back at square one.
I had a wonderful experience with the optometrist and the optometry technicians and the receptionists. Everyone was so kind and understanding. I will definitely recommend to friends and family.
Everyone was fantastic from the time I entered the office to the time I left. The Doctors assiant, Doctor Castle, and the sales and frame tech were great. The young lady at the repair counter went out of her way fixing my older glasses, I appreciated it very much.I will return when ever I need care for my eyes.
Had my eye exam yesterday. The doctor was wonderful… the lady who helped me pick out my glasses was fabulous!! The lady who helped with my contacts, not so much. I mentioned to her that the right eye was great but the left eye super blurry 4 times…wanted it looked at while I was there… she stated each time to give it a week of wearing 🥱 ummm ok why?? I’ve had contacts for 40 years that’s not going to help… would have loved to have left with the correct contacts instead of having to come back 😧
Keke H. Was absolutely amazing! She was so helpful and patient helping myself and my parents find the right glasses we wanted. Answered every question and never made me feel like I was taking too long. Make sure you ask for her when looking for glasses. Also have someone with you when you get an exam incase you cannot see after they dilate your eyes. I was told I could drive but couldn’t see clear for 5 hours and the lady who walked out with me obviously couldn’t see either because she got into the wrong car.
Dr Hitzelburger was outstanding. I’ve been going to her for years and she is always thorough, informative, and always a pleasure to talk to. She always gets my prescription right on the first time. Be mindful of the billing though and what they “say” your insurance will cover. At check in the receptionist told me that my insurance covered 100% of the exam plus any contacts and glasses. After the exam the tech told me the exam was covered but only contacts OR glasses were covered. Then at the glasses fitting the person told me the lenses were covered but not the frame. It took 5 people and many conversations for them at agree on what my insurance covered and I’m still not 100% confident they got it right.
My husband and I visited the Lakeside location for our annual visits yesterday. Our doctors were very professional and friendly. Tracey, our optician, was super knowledgeable and patient as she assisted us with the purchase of new glasses and my first pair of prescription sunglasses. We have been patients for many years and have always had a very good experience at Optimeyes. Thanks Tracey for your patience, attention to detail and knowledge. We truly appreciated you help!

It was really easy to set up an appointment online, more than enough times and dates to choose from. The office is safe and is following all Covid protocol. The staff was really nice and the doctor was as well. Great variety of Frames and decent prices. I would definitely recommend this optical place.
I am very impressed with this place. You are joyfully greeted immediately upon entering...covid protocol in place, my doctor (Dr Castle) was excellent, both my son and I each found glasses we liked. After going here for more than 25 years, I may leave. After check in I waited 55 minutes to be called back. Initial tech checking my eyes and doing glaucoma check was rude. When I left her know there was a problem with the glaucoma machine not lighting up prior to the puff of air she was indifferent. Four times on each eye before machine worked. Doctor Hans was wonderful and the lady helping me pick out new glasses was professional, friendly and very good at her job. That’s why a 2 not a 1.

Great Staff! Great experience all around! The Tech who did my pre-testing was wonderful! I believe her name began with a “J”. Dr. T was fabulous and did the most thorough eye exam. Diane, the Optician took great care of me and had my glasses/lenses traced in the Lab so I would not be without them. I highly recommend the Lakeside Office for all your eye care needs!!
The staff at Henry Ford Optim Eyes are professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. I received a thorough eye exam and selected the frames that will adorn my face for the next two years.
Overall it was a decent experience, however staff was talking about multiple customers, in areas they could be heard, which should be kept private. Techs some were on their phone while customers were waiting, and the doctor seemed to get impatient, and you could easily see her frustration, which set a tone and made me feel uncomfortable. Getting fitted for my glasses was a wonderful experience Jim I believe his name was, he was very patient and welcoming and helpful.. that was pleasurable, he made the experience better..

I totally enjoyed the experience. Thank God they were not hooked up to the Henry Ford MyChart. You can actually call them and talk to somebody. I love the Henry Ford system but I do like calling my doctor which is not available with their system. Unfortunately Ill probably have to move on to a place where I can actually call Doctor when Im sick.

It was a pleasure to see Dr. Hans. She provided excellent customer service to say the least. She is terrific! Knowledgeable, sensitive, and informative. It was a wonderful and warm experience from start to finish. She gave me the thorough eye exam for glasses and contacts including a comprehensive exam of my general eye health. Although I did not have any significant medical conditions, she took time to explain my eye health in clear and easy to understand terminology. At the conclusion of the exam she personally escorted me to the optician and gave her specific instructions relevant to my case. She was also kind and friendly. HIGHLY recommend becoming her patient!
My appt was 12:15 I had waited two months for this appointment. All the receptionist could do was talk about how much they were charging me for eye drops I waited in the waiting room for 45 minutes then I got discussed and left. You see my time is important too!

I love the selection of frames and the cost! The girl that helped me was actually helping select the right frames for me because without having my glasses on I can’t see! Lol. I had fun picking out frames with her! And I can walk in and purchase a pair anytime! I would definitely recommend Henry Ford Optimeyes! The glasses are usually ready for pickup sometimes within a week!
All of the staff are nice for the most part. I’ve been going here for years and haven’t really had someone I’ve seen regularly. Was out of town for a few years but still came back. Now with being back in the area, I’ve found my peoples. The one woman that helps me every time, Kiara I believe is how its spelled, she is awesome. Patiently waited 1.5 hours for me to get my contacts in and knew I was getting frustrated. Now I’m a pro. Love talking with her. Give her the $$$ to keep her around ❤️❤️
After getting signed in at the front desk I went to the reception room and waited to be called. After one(1) hour of watching patients go in with appointment times after mine (I asked them their appointment times) I left the building and went on to my next appointment. I was not seen by a doctor or someone who would get me ready to see a doctor. This is unethical to leave someone waiting and not be notified there is a delay or did they just not know I was there. No matter. Both are unacceptable. No excuse for what was done to me
Great staff! Cheryl was nice, patient and very helpful. The glasses were ready before the promised date. The staff at pick up were also pleasant and patient as it took a few adjustments to make me feel comfortable in my new glasses. This was my first visit to any OptimEyes location, but thanks to my positive experience at this location it will not be my last.
Went in Friday feeling like something was stuck in my eye for 3 days or I scratched it. I was leery about going but I knew I needed to. I am so glad I decided to go to this establishment. Dr. Herbart took such great care of my eye and left me with no worries. He found a metal shaving in my eye and was able to get it out with no issues, no pain or anything. I am truly thankful for his service and my eye is completely healed! If anything, God forbid, were to happen again, Id go back in a heartbeat! The staff was very nice as well. Highly recommend.

No one checks your temperature when you come in, glasses you try on are filthy and look like they were not sanitized.Lady forgot to give a prescription and had to get it from the front desk and spoke to a lady who was rude and had no matters. The service has gone down and so are the options of glasses. I’ll take my business somewhere else.
The staff was EXCELLENT. so friendly, helpful and patient. When there was a wait, they let me know that I was up next and not forgotten about. They took the time to help explain everything needed. 10/10 will come back.

Purchased my frames and lenses from HFO back in August of 2020. The arm of my frame had broken and I took them back in to the store to see what they could do.The Manager (I believe it was Jim) was outstanding and without any hesitation replaced my frames, cleaned my lenses and I was in and out in 30 minutes.Great customer service, great attitude and I will most certainly be a repeat customer.Bravo to everyone at the Sterling Heights location!!!

Henry Ford OptimEyes was very impressive from the first person at the door who took my temperature and questionnaire, the person who checked me in, Taylor the optometrist assistant, Dr Herbart and Micheal who printed out my prescription from the doctor. I was very impressed how thorough everyone was. My only disappointment was I did not remember all the person names who made contact with me.
Arrived 18 minutes late to a 9am appointment after having a hard time getting out of the house with a newborn. Was told the techs had already taken other people back and I would have to wait, which is totally understandable. Was then told that they wouldnt be able to see me at all because they had to stick to their schedule, and squeezing me in would then put all the other appointments behind. I woke up early and wasted an hour of my day only to have to reschedule when I could have been home feeding my baby. Very disappointed that they would not work with me.
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Erin. She is warm and very nice. She makes me feel comfortable. The check in was fast and easy. But I wasnt satisfied when I was about to check on some glasses . I know that I have to wait patiently but sometimes you also need someone to just acknowledge you. Thanks to Cindy. I appreciate her telling that she will be right with me. I feel sad that others who passed by me many times didnt even care to do that. Need to improve on this area.
The Dr. is very good but I waited over an hour to see him. Unacceptable.
The extra contract fitting fee is a joke. The technician brought a box of samples to me and I put them in. For that I paid $75. I know it’s a standard fee but it seems excessive especially for an experienced contact wearer. She literally handed me a box of samples. That was it !

I have been seeing Dr H for years. I have been a patient since before they were HFO so this should tell you how I feel about this place. I have never had a bad experience. Dr H and the staff are the best. I will not go anywhere else.
This OptimEyes location is the best! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the eye exam is one of the most thorough exams I have ever had. I moved out of the area and still drive 30 minutes to go to this location, even though there are closer ones to me.

Spent a hour trying to get thru later to ask for a printed receipt to be mailed when computers we up. Waste of my time, never could get thru to speak with one of them!
This was the first time we got our eye exams and glasses here. Everyone from getting checked in, the doctor and the person helping us with glasses were very professional and helpful. We would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing an eye exam and glasses!
The appointment was at 10:30. At 11:10 I had to ask how much longer. Finally, at 11:20 I was taken back to to see the doctor. After I was set to another waiting room to cash out. Waited there for 15 minutes and nobody showed. Walked out. The nurse called me to ask where I was. Politely told them an eye exam took 2 hours and 11 minutes and I had to get to work. Didn’t even order my new glasses! I was so mad! I get short staffed and I was patient. But seriously?! My doctor only had 1 room and nobody could inform me beforehand? I would have rescheduled. When the nurse did call me back she informed me that she was in the bathroom.
Called 8 times, receptionist continually hung up on me. I’m not sure why? Wasted an hour trying. I’m just trying to get copy of my prescription emailed to me. I don’t typically write bad reviews but this is an exception.
This was my first time at OptimEyes. Had the best optical experience in a very long time. My new prescription is the also the best Ive seen in years. Couldnt be more pleased.
Had a good visit with the Dr and tech for the eye exam. To pick out frames it all went down hill. Sat and waited for help, nothing was done. Told to stay away from the frames and staff will get what I’d like to try, still no staff. Went to SVS vision, could try all the frames I needed to but just leave in basket so they could clean them and put back. Henry Ford lost two big sales. Will not return. SVS was amazing.
They were wonderful with being covid conscious. Cleaning everything and making sure I felt confident in their cleaning. In and out, not rushed but did what had to be done and out.
The Covid restrictions meant I couldn’t shop the frames. But the gal who was doing the picking did a really excellent job! She listened to what I didn’t want, as well as what I like. I chose from the first group she brought, almost right away. She researched and found ways to give me the best deal with my coverage. The optometrist was excellent also. She was quick, but thorough. I’m really looking forward to my new glasses. The only thing we couldn’t get around, is my eye care insurance requires my lenses be done in Minnesota, not by Optimeyes. This will make it 2 weeks rather than a couple days, before I get my new glasses.
This was my 1st experience going to this location for a diabetic eye exam as well as a new pair of glasses. Everyone from the front office (check-in etc.) to Michelle, the Dr.’s assistant who was 100% AwesomeSauce & preformed all of the preliminary testing, my history etc., to Cheryl the Optician, who helped me find a frame were all very nice, professional & most importantly to me, had a great sense of humor!! Dr Blessy Mathew was nice as well! The only thing I didn’t care for is the fact that you canNOT walk around & look at all the frames, small batches are brought to you. Overall, it was a Great Experience!!

I was especially pleased with her attention to detail cleaning up after a patient and keeping me feel safe with COVID risks.NegativeThe male staff that brought me back from the waiting room and did the initial exam did NOT clean off the equipment before OR after having me place my face on it. I had to ask him to wash his hands before putting drops into my eyes. It upset me for quite a while after the appointment and I wished I had insisted on him cleaning off the chin rest before I touched it !!!

Overall a terrible experience! I only gave it 2 stars because the manager did seem sincere. They really lack good customer service all around throughout the whole process and now I have to stick with a bad prescription for a year before my next exam .....

I didn’t realize till after I got home from the eye doctors and thought about it the next day that this is what happened to me. A sparkle from a LUSH bath bomb somehow got into my eye and scratched up my entire cornea. And my doctor found particles from it still underneath my eyelid! She told me it was a clear tiny particle and was thinking maybe it was from one of those beady body scrubs. I couldn’t really think appropriately at the time from all the pain I was in since 8pm the previous day till about 1:45 pm the next day. I now realize it was a one of the clear circular sparkles from a LUSH bath bomb. Do not use LUSH bath bombs unless you enjoy pain, stress, and a damaged eyeball. The doctor was very kind and they brought me into the back right away
Absolutely loved working with my optician, Cindy D, today! She helped me pick out a new pair of glasses. With Covid-19, we are no longer able to browse so Cindy was running around finding me many different pairs of glasses to try on and gave me honest feedback on them all on me which is so important when finding new glasses. On top of that, she was so sweet and easy to talk to and made my experience 5/5. Highly recommend OptimEyes and especially working with Cindy!!
The clinical staff was awesome. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. My experience purchasing glasses, however, was another story. While I understand the issues with the pandemic, I did not appreciate being paired with an optician while I looked for frames. I was not free to roam the enormous selection, nor was I allowed to have a fully vaccinated family member help. It was an extremely awkward and uncomfortable experience.
The staff here are all very friendly and knowledgeable. This years’ experience is much different than in the past but we felt very safe and felt that the staff were keeping areas cleaned and wiped down and sanitized. While we couldn’t walk around to look at glasses, the staff were able to find several different options that we were pleased with.
My wife and I were barely 20 minutes late for our appointment because we have a newborn and its hard to get out of the house. They refused to see us at all and made us reschedule after we had already taken time out of our busy schedules to drive here... will not be returning to this location.

Do not waste your time. Stood in line for my 330 appointment for 20 minutes to be told the Dr isnt in today after it was confirmed by text. Rude employee kept pushing my fiance out of the way to hit the yellow buttons up front without saying excuse me. Literally physically shouldered him over. This place is a joke and the receptionist lack any competent receptionist skills. They are rude, unruly and slow.
