Had an iffy experience with a full highlight done by Aylin. When I initially saw the highlights, I thought they looked okay but when I got home all of my roommates told me that it looked really bad and that I should take a second look. After getting a mirror I saw that my highlights were very streaky and my roommates said it had a “90s highlights look”. They were also pretty orange so I don’t know if it was toned correctly. I have bought blue shampoo in an attempt to tone down the brassiness but it has not worked very well (my highlighted hair is still orange on top).I have attached the picture of what was shown to aylien from her own Instagram. I also want to be fair and say that my hair was box dyed very dark brown exactly 5 weeks before my appointment (which I thought was enough), but she told me that she may not be able to get all of the dark color from my hair. The highlights actually did the opposite of this and they were much lighter than I expected and as you can see, there is no color melting done on the top which was disappointing. She was pretty kind as a stylist but I will not be returning for color again. This was my first experience with highlights so it could be that they all turn out this way.EDIT:The owner of Lux sent over a text the same day as posting this review and offered me to come in and get my hair fixed. I really appreciated them reaching out so quickly, even if I won’t be returning! Shows they have pretty great customer service :)

I had my hair dyed and cut by Aylin today. When I first sat down, she took a flat brush to my 3B curls and as I stared at the huge crackling nimbus of kinky fluff around my head, all I could think was dear God I have made a horrible mistake. Man, was I wrong. She did a fabulous job blending my very early snow white patch back into my darker hair and gave me a super cute layered cut that really made my curls bounce. As a bonus, my hair smells really awesome. I would highly recommend her.

Kayla is my go-to stylist at Lux. She has helped me transition my hair to my natural gray color. We also found a great cut and style that works with my hair type. Alex and Betty are the best for hair and brows!

So, I came in earlier today to have my hair done and walked away totally disappointed. Before the actual appointment when we had our consultation, my stylist and I were discussing what I wanted to do and I said I wanted to go with a silver ombré and also get my hair cut. I told her that I understand it’s going to be a process and I’m totally fine if it’s not silver on the first go. The important thing to me was that my hair would be lighter, in an ombré style. She booked me for a balayage (which was not what I wanted) but I just figured I’d show her a picture and clarify I wanted that ombré look the day of the appointment. Fast forward to today, I come in and we go over again what I’m wanting to do. I show her a picture of the look I was hoping to achieve (a silver ombré, again understanding if it’s not silver the first go) and what I ended up with was pretty much the same hair I walked in with. I felt like she didn’t listen to what I was telling her I wanted at all. I’m so sad with how my hair turned out and I had been disappointed half the time I was sitting in the chair. I’m not a confrontational person so I didn’t speak up when I wanted to, I just left unhappy. All the good reviews had me excited to come in and get my hair done but my experience left me feeling unsatisfied. (I can’t post pictures on here of what my hair ended up looking like so I’ll post them on Yelp).

She always goes above and beyond to deliver my vision.. she is also very realistic about certain services taking a few sessions and how it fade/ grow out.. she also recommends products that make my hair last.. when it comes to stylist she is the best around. My hair would truly be lost without her ! If your looking for a stylist.. look no further!

While waiting for my son, I was given the opportunity to relax in the Quiet Room, next to a warm fire and listening to spa music.The overall experience was even more than what I was looking for and totally what I needed. Betty is the only esthetician from whom I’ve received bikini waxing services that didn’t irritate my bikini area. This was particularly appreciated since I saw her a couple times prior to my elopement this fall. I can’t imagine going anywhere else now! Highly recommend!

My sister and my aunt have both been to this salon with glowing recommendations! They by chance over the past year happened to both see Alex.1 of them was recommended by a friend 1 recommended by family members . For both of them after discussing expectations and letting them know what was possible that day. For both of them she fell short of the expectations SHE set.For my sister her hair actually looked DISGUSTING after her hair was done when she reached out she offered her to come in (after some argument) she attempted to correct what she absolutely botched she was super rude about it kept reminding her how SHE WAS DOING her a favor . She continued on to discuss the situation with another client of hers who was someone my sister knew .I know a few other people who have now decided after hearing the way she was treated they will no longer be seeing her either unfortunate to hear. The management was made aware of the situation and my sisters pocket is emptier and she still has horrible hair that she will have to pay another salon to fix .

I was able to get in on a Sat due to Kayla having a cancellation. Kayla was awesome!!! I showed her a pic of what I was going for. She spent time going over colors with me. My hair turned out exactly how I wanted it! While it was a long appointment, Kayla made sure I was comfortable and asked if I needed anything.I’m beyond happy with my hair and can’t wait to continue my hair journey with Kayla. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. Front desk was AMAZING. Different receptionists but every single one of them were so nice and welcoming. The entire facility is clean and professional. I had called ahead before making an appointment to get a general cost estimate for a cut and bayalage. Once I arrived, I was quoted $100 more than what they told me it would be (as well as advertised on the website) and was informed it would probably be brassier than I wanted, because of the reds I had in my hair from previous drugstore dye. I was taken aback because they requested pictures of what I wanted and what the current state of my hair was, so if it was going to be challenging it could have been shared ahead of time, but was not. The stylist said I could do a strand test, but that I would have to come back...? Why it couldnt have been done that day, since I already had a color/cut appointment block I have no clue. It was also brought up that foils may work for some more needed lift, but there wasnt time for those as well as a cut, so Id have to choose. I ended up going for the cut, which was pretty underwhelming. Not as much layering for body as I requested. Everyone was sweet, the salon was nice. But it was disappointing.

Alex is my stylist at Lux and I have been seeing her for years. Ive gone from blonde to black and back again and Alex has always prioritized the beauty and integrity of my hair over anything else. I had a color change consult with Aylin in August and was really looking forward to my appointment today. She wasn’t super friendly or engaged in the consult, but I scheduled an appointment with her anyway. I waited several weeks, used 10 hours of vacation for the day off work, asked a co-worker to change her schedule for Wednesday coverage, and drove down from Renton for this appointment. I was willing to go that far as the majority of the reviews for Lux are positive and I have been both excited and anxious about my desired color change.When I walked in the salon this morning, I was told that my appointment had to be cancelled and they hadn’t had the chance to get ahold of me. I understand the reason behind the cancellation, but I cannot reconcile how no one had the chance to reach out to me to cancel. The woman who spoke with me was kind, but that was it. I made significant changes to my work schedule and my personal time off to make it, and it was for nothing. The salon policy is to charge people 50% of the service for cancellations in less than 24 hours. What do they do when wasting so much time and effort of others.Please work on your customer service and how you treat people’s time. I am so beyond frustrated and disappointed.

I love this place. My hairstylist is Alex she is amazing! Ive been seeing her for a couple of years now every single time I walk out I absolutely love my hair! she takes time to make sure that my cut is just perfect she is patient and never rushes. I have never been disappointed in my color she is amazing. Everybody is nice from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out.

I went in for my haircut and color with Maddie today. Correcting a home-hacked haircut, but having to consider that the customer is trying to grow out her super short pixie, is not an easy task for a stylist. But Maddie did a great job. She took off only what needed to be shaped up, and she did a great job on the color too. She delivered exactly what I wanted, and even gave me a couple of little extras at the end of our session, to help me with the styling when I am at home. My experience there was totally pleasant, with a very nice reception from the front office staff and really everyone there.

Maddie was my hair stylist and not only was she a friendly face, but she had the most amazing personality. For being someone who hasnt stepped into a salon for over 8 years, she really made me feel so comfortable. Not only was she terrific company, she cut my hair so perfect! I had hair down to my waist and I was nervous to cut it all off, but she made it look so good and I LOVE it!! Ive gotten so many compliments and its made me feel so amazing. I have been seeing Betty for the past 12 years for waxing facials and other body treatments it is an understatement to say that she is amazing very attentive very professional and is following all CDC protocol to protect not only herself but her clients as well I highly recommend this salon and spa they are warm and welcoming from your initial first phone call to the moment you walk in the door all of the staff at Lux is very kind and very accommodating I live about 30 minutes away and it is well worth the drive!

Ive never posted a review for anything before, but I am so excited that my mom found Brett to be our new hairstylist for her, my sister, and I, and weve already recommended him to all our family and friends after the first visit. Normally I hate going in to the hair salon because you dont really know what to expect, but Brett was all around very nice, relaxed, patient, honest, and very positive. He answered all our questions and told us all of the best products for taking care of our hair. Bretts work ethic is amazing, and I trust however he cuts or dyes my hair in the future.

The reviews don’t lie! I had a great first experience here, and with Noah specifically. Normally I’d wait until the 2nd or 3rd visit to write a review, but having two negative first-time experiences at other salons (I’m new to the area), I can tell you why Lux was different and special. Noah asked the right questions about my hair - goals, coloring habits, styling preferences, and laid out a plan straight away. (I’m trying to grow out my very thick, often unruly hair). The last stylist (not at Lux) hacked away with thinning shears and left me sad and confused. Noah simply explained that it was thinned as if I had a shorter cut. Made perfect sense to me as I previously had a super short ‘do that was usually thinned in that manner. He dusted my inconsistent layers, gave me a modest trim as I requested, and made me feel really confident about the potential to work towards long, lush layers. Pricing was super reasonable and really nice people at the desk too. No pretentiousness here to speak of. I’m thrilled!

I had my first appointment at Lux with Aili, and I could not recommend her more! My hair was pretty fried from a previous coloring and it had been months since Id had it cut or colored. Aili had it balayaged, cut, and styled within 2.5 hours and it literally looks like a brand new head of hair! The salon is clean, modern, and high end without being intimidating. Everyone I interacted with was lovely, and it was clear that both the staff and clients enjoyed being there. Pricing was very reasonable for nearly 3 hours of creative work. I was given a written price quote to sign after Aili assessed what needed to be done, which was really helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend Aili and Lux to anyone looking for a new stylist.

Alex is amazing!!! I have been going to her for 3 years now and every time I have left her chair my expectations were exceeded! During my first visit to her, she took extra time to listen to what I wanted and look at the dozens of pics of examples I had ( did I forget I to mention that she is also super sweet and patient no matter how much you switch up styles and and color desires!!!!) and even gave me some solicited advice on what worked great on my hair type, some hair care and styling tips that I stick to up until this day. I make the drive from Bonney Lake just to get some fab hair done by Alex!!!! Super thankful I found her 3 yrs ago!!!!

I have been going to see Maddie at Lux for a couple months now and have loved every experience with her. I have received bang trims, a badass undercut, and just today she did a multi-dimensional color for me involving four different shades of purple. I love this salon. But lets be honest, we love our stylist. The salon is clean and has good aesthetics. Lots of beauty options, staff is very knowledgeable of products and services.

Betty - Esthetician is amazing! She made me feel comfortable from the moment I met her. I’ve now seen her 3 times for a brow/lip/nose wax. Getting my face waxed is definitely not the most relaxing thing but she really helps to distract me from the pain by talking about life.My most favorite thing any time I get waxed is the use of the tweezers. It’s when I feel most cared about. I hate having to go home and clean up a wax job.Betty takes her time, uses her magnifying light and cleans up what the wax missed. She cares about what she’s doing!!! I feel cared about!She’s who I’ll be seeing for as long as she available. Definitely gonna have to try a facial with her soon!

Maddie is amazing. This is my first time here and have been very impressed with the atmosphere and service I have recieved. Maddie and I instantly connected and I feel like I have made a new best friend. I will be telling all my friends to come here. I am so happy to have found my new salon!

Pretty decent hair salon. I have multicultural curls and wanted someone else to do my blow out rather than myself but in all honestly I do a better job. Don’t get me wrong she did a really good job. My hair was soft and smooth but it wasn’t silky pin straight like I like. I asked for a trim and was thinking it would be like an extra $15 bucks (service wasn’t listed on the site) but she called it a cut when it only took her like 2-3 minutes and they charged me $35. A bit excessive if you ask me. I won’t be returning because I’m pretty particular about my hair but they were all very nice people. It just wasn’t worth the $95 I paid in all.

Ive been getting my hair done at LUX Salon for 2 years now. Ive had my haircare needs taken care of by most of the hairstylists there, and they all do an amazing job. I even have my facials done there every once in a while, and their estheticians are amazing too. Lux is the best salon in Tacoma, I refuse to get my hair done anywhere else.

Great salon and they really take their jobs seriously! Coming in for the first time I was nervous since I had loved my old colorist, but decided to branch out; it was well worth it! My hair turned out exactly how I wanted and they were fun, funny and caring. GO THERE!

I had a hard time of finding someone local who could do baylage right and Brett did a fabulous job of coloring my hair. Thank you for your amazing work and the scalp massage was divine.

When I booked for my girlfriend I was quoted $110 when I checked out it was $180. The hair looks good but I will never be booking here again without knowing the actual price. $70 more than what it showed when I booked is crazy. I had a budget of $130 and when I saw $110 I figured it would probably be a little more but stay within or near what I had budgeted instead I ended up paying way more money than I had ever expected.

Lux Salon & Spa is the BEST IN THE TACOMA AREA! I love coming to this salon because I love how reliable they are to me. Sasha is my stylist and I always feel so beautiful and confident when I leave. Betty gets my eyebrows looking perfect. Also, I know that all the employees here are knowledgeable and are continuing in their training to get even better than they already are in their skill!

I love this place. staff are really nice and pleasant. I love amy the owner, shes very understanding with your concerns and would go above and beyond. made me feel comfortable. Even if my hairstylist already left I would definitely come back here again, hoping that I would be able to find my new go-to hairstylist person. Thank you guys!

I really love this salon, and Ive tried soo many. They always go beyond my expectations, with the cut and styling, they even show you how to recreate the look at home, and suggest really amazing products to your individual needs. My hair always feels like fresh spun silk when I leave.

Went into my consult with hopes of fixing my color and improving my hair health. Maddie did just that! During the consult we talked about options and she actually took a small sample for a test! My hair has lots of different dye history, so I appreciate the time she took before my appointment to make sure everything would turn out. We decided a balayage with roots and cut would be best. During the appointment she explained everything and I enjoyed our conversation. My hair turned out great and I’m looking forward to returning!

They are all very nice and accommodating! Came here and got my hair done but there were some issues with it, the owner personally called me and offered to have it fixed for free! It came out amazing! At first I was on the fence but this salon goes the extra mile and I will for sure be coming back!

My hair stylist, Maddie, did an incredible job! I came in with long brown hair, and left with short red hair, and I am in love! She explained to me the process as she was working, and was very attentive. The color quality is incredible. She recommended some product for me to take home, which she used on my hair and it feels amazing!

It was my first experience at the Lux Spa amd Aili was nice and friendly while servicing my hair. I am giving five stars to Ailis gentle and understanding way of working. I would say that even though Aili was understanding and was listening to what I needed but I guess I expected way higher from her. I was there with my sister in law and told Aili that I wanted to have have layers in my hair and she did gave me layers but layers seem to be very mild and almost as if I just have shortened my hair upto medium length from waist length long hair. Since Aili was nice and understanding I plan on coming back to her to get 3 heavy layers just like my sister. I can say that I am happy having shorter hair but not so happy with the way I was hoping they would look.I am looking forward to improved haircut from Aili

I just had my hair cut & colored with Julia and loved it, She is a Gem! on my way home I stopped by the store & had a gal stopped me to tell be that I had the best cut and the most beautiful color. The girls are all so talented and you cant go wrong with any of them.I also had a facial with Betty which was the best and I felt so wonderful after the service. Shes not only a sweetie but very knowledgeable. I cant wait to go back and try some other treatments.
