It was a busy day, however everyone was pulling their weight and making sure that all customers are being acknowledge and thanking them for their patience. Our preliminary offer was for 4k and it came in at 5k which was awesome! Approached the cashiers window and again friendly service, waited maybe 10 minutes, Leslie came over and professionally explained the process told to give her about 15 minutes and sure enough, had all documents prepared and ready for me to sign.My wife and I are totally impressed with CarMax professionalism. This is a great business model. Commend everyone in the team, thank you for your dedication.

My Experience at CarMax was overall great. It was fast, and consistent. I was out of there in 2 1/2 hours. The reason I gave 4 stars is because the sales person that helped be didn’t suggest that I test drive the vehicle or see the vehicle for myself. When I did see the vehicle and drove it for the first time… I knew I made the right purchase.

Worst car buying experience of my life. We had them ship the car I wanted from their Palmdale location. We arranged to have a home delivery. Our home is 15 minutes away from the Torrance location. Scheduled delivery time was for 2:00pm - they were 45 minutes late blaming it on traffic. They did not even delivery it to our home - they parked it out on the main street - so much for home delivery. As we were walking out to go see the car - we immediately noticed a huge gash on the back passenger door which looked like they attempted to cover up with a completely different color red. Now I know why they were 45 minutes late. To think they thought we wouldnt noticed this is beyond me. So much for their walk arounds before delivering the car. They also sent us the paperwork the day before so we could get that all squared away. Day of delivery, they had to resend the paperwork because the date was wrong. Once I completed the paperwork for the second time, my husband went to do his and the link was expired. Lovely.Blessing in disguise. I found a brand new car for the same price.Thanks for the hassle CarMax. I will never do business with you again.

Selling a car is stressful! I thought I’d done all the research, I had buy quotes from 3 places, and selected and booked the sale in at CarMax. Then I found a review that said they charge fees and extra costs! I phoned customer service who put my mind at rest saying no fees but I was still a bit concerned as they do have the right to reduce the price if the car “doesn’t match the online info”. So, whilst I believe the car is in very good condition they could tell me they found a scratch or something and reduce the offer. I had organised the appraisal visit for the same day I was flying out of the country for good so had no chance to refuse the offer. Whatever they wrote the check for was what I would bank. The process at the dealer was so well-organised and professional that it immediately reduced my stress. These weren’t people out to rip me off. They did a quick appraisal review and were calm and helpful. Within 15 minutes they confirmed the value and within 1.5 hours I had left the dealer with a check in hand for the same value my online offer was for. The people made the whole thing great and I would definitely recommend to others.

However we highly suggest you inspect the vehicle thoroughly at any dealer, because about 1 month after having it, we realized it was missing the antenna and a piece from the elbow that connects to the windshield wiper fluid 😠🤦♀️. The horrible troubled manager Julius, the fraudulent salesman Johnathan and the others at the Torrance location are the worst and most discriminative group of frauds that I have ever encountered, besides them leaving me unattended with a pre-approval for a particular car with no help for 3 days in a row, then finally the horrible fraudulent salesperson Johnathan comes and acts as if he’s gonna help with my purchase and just runs my credit 3 times for cars that I never selected or considered to buy negatively affecting/damaging/injuring my 20+ yrs perfect credit score of 800+, then the horrible manager Julius comes out to further assist Johnathan fraud me in the purchase and switching of the car I selected and was sold. The car I initially picked and purchased was swapped for another car on their car lot that looked similar just with damages that I didn’t notice until the next day, + when I went back to their Torrance location to complain I realized that the car that initially picked and thought that I had purchased was still sitting in the same exact place, alarming me that I was tricked/frauded and swindled into another car that was on there lot with higher mileage, damage(s) & nearly a $10K price difference which now displayed on the car I thought i initially bought. Now they’re claiming to call the Torrance police department if come back to exchange for the correct car that I already purchased. Some much fraud and swindles I looked up and found a law that matches point for point that fits they’re actions/crimes they have committed against me pursuant title 18 USC 1506 and title 18 USC 1341, 1342 & 1343. Notice to principal is notice to agent and notice to agent is notice to principal. I affirm this to be true and correct by penalties or perjury.

I ordered the Cadillac Coupe over the weekend & the Carmax in Costa Mesa was to ship the car but he thought I was playing? This is business, finally when the car was transported to Torrance Car Max, I had to wait 4days for this car to be painted. Overall I was very satisfied! So next time when a person order a purchase, send or you might lose out on a major deal!

Dear Consumers,I was in desperate need of a car and CarMax took advantage of that and even added on extra warranty that I can never use because I can never get anyone on the phone no one calls me back and the vehicle that I purchased already had water pump issues, a gas leak, and now my radio doesn’t work they added warranty that I’m stuck paying for because my finance company said it was something THEY added please don’t obtain the warranty it’s money wasted. Please don’t get screwed like me. CarMax thanks so much for teaching me a valuable lesson from now on I say whatever you do! don’t go to CarMax!!!!
Horrible experience, first time we came to get it appraised, my boyfriends parents flew in from Virginia alll the way across the country to help us sell the car. The lady who help knew that the owner of the car (dad) was flying back to Virginia but failed to mention that he needed to be there to sell the car. We found that out only a couple days after when we came back to sell the car, so the front desk said only have him sign, only signatures NOTHING else... So then we had to mail everything and wait for signatures and then we went back AGAIN days later and didn’t accept the papers because we needed to get it notarized.... when she said only signatures nothing else. We even repeated the instructions to her to make sure. The manager had us have to come back again and get the notarized letter mailed back. We are here for the fourth time, getting re appraisal which was way too long and we were told it would be quick since we were “in the system “ WE’VE BEEN HERE FOR FOUR HOURS!!! I just got the appraisal paper which i had to go inside myself to get because they completely forgot that we were waiting in the garage for more than an hour.... now they’re saying we’re missing one document when we got here the MANAGER said she had everything she needed. We are now waiting in the garage for the manager to come from her lunch break to complain and sell the car. This is the worst establishment ever, worst experience for a place that’s supposed to be known for being quick and easy. Do you jobs correctly and actually work on being better organized. We’re frustrated and annoyed and no one will do anything to help or make things better at least. This is all complete bull.
I was assisted right away, and put on a wait list and was told I could browse the vehicles. Not long after I was met with an agent and I told her the exact car I was looking for, she had it brought down for a test drive. Post test drive, we got right into the paperwork, and her service was excellent. It was an early birthday gift to myself, and that experience is one to remember.
What can I say about CarMax the best place to buy your vehicle, you have to put MaxCare so you don’t have to worry about anything, I take my Lexus for Service at the Torrance store and my service advisor, Shawnette goes above and beyond to make sure that you are informed every step of the way and makes me feel like family, thank you CarMax!!
Viewing and purchase of the vehicle was smooth sailing. Upon purchase of the vehicle, rear-view camera not working, but received paperwork for repair. After driving the vehicle a couple of days found a few more issues…took vehicle in for service. Experience so far with service dept unsatisfactory…1 week later still waiting for completion of repairs and I have to call them for updates!! Not a happy camper!!

Earlier this week I was cleaning the back seat and scrubbed off what looked like a stain of sorts and it was an actual cigarette burn in the seat. That sucks.Also, putting on my plates that came in the mail today, I noticed that they had put the wrong temporary plates on my car when I left the dealer. I bought a prius. The temp plates were for a honda. Good thing I didn’t get pulled over. Overall the experience was ok. Pretty simple. However, they should pay closer attention to detail. Sold one of my cars to CarMax in Torrance, CA this past Sunday. They were fast, courteous and professional. They did not pay as much as a private party, but it was a safe environment and they handled all the DMV paper work. Was in and out in about 1 hour with a check in hand.
CarMaxs offer was very competitive and fair. Their staffs were efficient, fast and good manners. We were out of the office within 1.5 hrs with the check in our hands.

We found one in the area and 48 hours from then I literally signed the paperwork in the car and drove off. Simple process no hassle no secret charges no surprises. Simple easy understood program. Had a terrible experience at the Buena Park location which led me to this location.I brought all of my appraisal paperwork in to sell my car to have them tell me that they couldn’t buy my car because the registration was expired. I then drove all the way home to realize I could pay my registration online (no thanks to the people at Carmax.) After receiving a confirmation from the DMV I called and asked if I could use my email confirmation as proof of my registration to which they said yes. So I took my third trip back to Carmax delivered all the information for them to then tell me that they could not except this confirmation from the DMV and that I needed my physical tags in hand. W H A T. I literally just called to confirm that I could use this information to sell you my car today and now you’re telling me that I can’t sell my car to you with this information. I then ask who did I speak to you on the phone they told me I could use this information and then had me drive 30 minutes down here? Her reply was that they use a guest call service and that I didn’t speak to someone “ Who knew what they were talking about”. W H A T. Do you work here or do I? this place is a joke.
I visited the dealer twice.I received 2 appraisals and I never seem to get an answer after that. I was told they would give me an answer same day if I was able to be there at 4pm . Which was not the case. Then once I was there they told me they would call me the next morning. Which was not the case either. I texted the number provided the next morning and got no answer. So not what they advertise.

This place has some really great cars and I took my Fiancé here to see what kind of car she can get and even though the place is small most of the cars are unavailable (due to online purchases which is good for business I can dig it) they still have alot of great variety of cars on their lot. My only drawback is that why would the employees here place the price tags behind windows that are heavily tinted (doesnt make much sense to me) but overall its a good location to look for cars.

I brought my car to have a simple fix done to my door handle under their CarMax “90 warranty”. Instead of doing a proper repair that would just have needed a low cost part. They did an off the books repair, glueing my handle back together. Potentially ruining my door handle.This was done without any authorization, which buyer beware, they claim they don’t need since I bought the car from them.They claim this is normal for them and meets their standards of repair. So caution to all who are thinking about taking your car it for repair.When I called to try to make this right, the manager hung up on me, they were completely intransigent.
