Went there today. Had to call to gain entry and its nothing but a big empty room. Asked the sales person if this was pandemic related or if they were now an appointment only shop, was told that it was probably shifting to appointment only. Asked about a specific guitar and the sales person didnt seem to care. A very strange experience. Too bad, I used to like to go in here and browse. Bought a couple of V picks.
Ordered a Vigier bass online from them and it was a great experience. Harvey’s communication was outstanding. They shipped it when they said they would. The setup is impeccable. By far the best musical instrument online ordering experience I’ve ever had. Great company! Highly recommended.
I have purchased over $10k of guitars from Rainbow, so I will say the selection is great. The customer service is possibly worse than any guitar center. The employees act like you are bothering them when you inquire about inventory or you feel like they are judging your ability to buy the instrument before helping out. Since they are now only online, you can find the same selection with better pricing elsewhere. PitBull audio out of San Diego has been my new go to. Same instrument selection, better prices and much more friendly staff. Chicago Music Exchange will also be more competitive with better customer service. Interested to see how long Rainbow can stay in business with this business model and a unhelpful/unfriendly staff.
Great shop. Theyve got some of the best gear and the employees are knowledgeable and friendly!
Rainbow Guitars is absolutely awesome, my only knock on them is they arent local and I wish they were. Always wanted a Gibson LP and Rainbow helped make that happen. Lefties dont get a lot of love but this was one of two LPs I was looking at from them. Harvey answered all my questions quickly via email and gave me an awesome deal. Dont hesitate to order from them, everything was packed perfectly and they even threw in a picture of my guitar on the setup stand. Thanks guys!
Great guys, really helpful. Call ahead and make an appointment as thats the only you can shop there because of the pandemic.
Staff friendly and helpful..They have great knowledge of guitars.
High quality gear and great staff.
I love this store I like that its locally-owned theyve got a lot of great instruments in the people there are Ultra helpful so thats really cool
Stefan was very helpful in providing info to my husband when he was selecting a guitar. We appreciated his expertise.
The only place I will buy from in Tucson, from now on. Very happy!
Found a listing on reverb for a guitar that has been discontinued. Google the shop and saw near perfect reviews. Gave them a call and spoke with Scott. He answered all my questions and even gave me tips on things he didnt need to. Aside from that we even talked weather and retirement. Scotts a cool dude and I hope hes paid well lmao. On top of that I got a family and friend discount and Ive never even met them. Super sick. I will look to them for future guitar purchases. Also I dont leave reviews so this is super good customer service lmao
Not sure why every other business in the city of Tucson is open, but these guys wont allow in store shopping? Considering that music store selections are limited in Tucson, this is infuriating. I want to support local, but I guess guitar center gets my business. Not sure Ill ever come back to rainbow.
Being a left handed player is challenging when trying to find something above the entry level tier of guitars. After some searching on Reverb I came across Rainbow Guitars. After reading their reviews from Google and Reverb, I moved forward with purchasing a Gibson Les Paul Standard sight unseen from them. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone who took my order was friendly and professional. They offered a free setup with my purchase, and Ill be honest the guitar plays great after whichever Tech they had perform the task. The guitar was well packaged, shipped promptly, and arrived on time in perfect condition. This is all coming from my experience buying long distance, but I would not hesitate to buy from them again.
They had us standing outside in the heat and we called them standing out side the building
Ordered a drum kit through these guys. Incredible experience. Customer service was absolutely top notch!! The kit was very well packaged, even double boxed. This high end kit was received in perfect condition even though it seemed as if fed-ex used the boxes as fall protection. A testament to the folks at Rainbow’s pride in their jobs. Well done guys, and thanks!!
We cannot say enough about the great service! Stefin Gordon really went out of his way to assist us and make our purchase possible. Such a great experience. Really, a cut above! Can we give 10 stars?
My wife and I were looking for a guitar for our daughter and could not have been happier with our experience at Rainbow Guitars. Stefin Gordon was incredibly patient and knowledgeable as we asked him to play just about every guitar in our price range and to explain the differences, pros, cons, etc. We ended up purchasing an acoustic Paul Reed Smith and our daughter has been playing it for hours every day since she opened it.I highly recommend shopping at Rainbow Guitars.
Its an actual guitar shop, with people working there that actually play guitar. Not like other places that say hey, if you can sell used cars, you can sell guitars! An employee of a different guitar place here in Tucson did not know who/what ESP was. They asked me Is ESP like.... A brand?
Has the sense of everyone there at one point of their lives was or is a musician, but nonetheless the service is quick to help. Always ready to answer any questions you may have. They have just about anything you may be looking for to specific parts to instruments. I love it! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable to their field/musical expertise. Check em out.
Repair shop is great!Sales shop is full of professional level equipment, I wouldnt recommend it for shopping for entry-level, beginner, or inexpensive used guitars. For that, try Bookmans or a pawn shop - but if you are a serious musician looking for pro level gear, this is your place.
Thank you Harvey! a man of his word, he delivered big time!
I recently moved here from TX and was excited to see a stand alone guitar shop with a great selection and courteous staff. I obviously had to bring the repair shop my guitar when it needed some love. I was told it would take 2 weeks and I would receive a call when finished. Fast forward 3 months later, I not only didnt receive any call but when I came in to check on progress, I was told we sold it.... Not funny,... When the guys finally found my guitar it hadnt been worked on and I was told it would just be another couple days, expect a call. Again no call, I finally picked my guitar up, dirty and tired looking. I am in the retail business and want other would be patrons to be warned that the repair shop has a lot to learn where customer service is concerned!
This is one of the most amazing guitar stores Ive ever seen. They sell drums, basses, and accessories as well. Its very refreshing to see a store that carries more high-end equipment because I find that most stores only carry beginner to intermediate level products and are of little interest if youve been playing for a while. The staff is also super friendly and helpful, and they dont hover over you like other stores of this caliber. I know my next guitar (and the one after that and the one after that) will be purchased here!
What a great spot with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Newly renovated store, HUGE selection, many rare guitars to check out. Easy to see why theyve been a Tucson staple for decades.
Brought in my Gibson accoustic for a setup. Ive been told Rainbow is the best in Tucson. The guys in the repair department were very knowledgeable and friendly. Got my guitar back sooner than promised and it plays great.
Place has many high end guitars. They obviously take care of their inventory and are very knowledgeable. The staff have been nice enough the few times I have been in to browse, but you can always feel a sense that they are eyeing you whenever you think about picking a guitar up. NOT a place to go for beginners/amateurs. Staff can use a bit of work.EDIT: Went in the other day to try out a cab with my brother and the younger guy (Im forgetting his name) was as nice as can be. They were very friendly this time around, changed my review to reflect that.
Big collection of new and vintage guitars and amps. Didnt find the Ernie Ball St. Vincent special edition but played a sweet guitar through a killer Vox amp. Dont expect much customer service.
Make you feel like a rockstar even if youre only buying strings.
While searching for a J45 I came across this awesome shop. They had some of the COOLEST J45s I had ever seen. This is custom shop stuff. Found the perfect 45 for me, a 68 reissue in ebony. Living across the country from this guitar shop, I was not able to try a guitar out but talking to Scott on the phone was reassuring. He handled everything perfectly (even after me calling back MULTIPLE times to change shipping addresses). Dropping that kind of money on a guitar sight unseen might be foolish but i could never get this guitar from any chain store. It arrived in TWO business days. Wow. Packaged best Ive ever seen. Setup by the shop perfectly, even with my unusual string request (martin retro monel strings). I hope to have the money to buy another custom acoustic from them in the future. Truly professional and personal. Hope to go in person someday.
One of the best places to shop for an acoustic guitar. From starter to even some high end and custom guitars.
Outside looks are deceiving but inside in a music store paradise! Loved the private and well humidified Taylor guitar room. Theres a lot more but I arrived near closing so I couldnt get to see it all. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Prices seemed very reasonable.
Amazing customer service. I saw they had a one of a kind Stratocaster that I just had to have. I called and they were willing to work with me on making it possible. Not only is this my first custom shop Stratocaster but it came setup already. I just had to turn it and go (you should never ship a guitar in tune and they knew that as well). I’ll look here first before I look anywhere else from here on out. Plus their selection is real bad for your bank account lol. They have taste and stock guitars they want to sell not because they have to like the big box stores around me.It was worth the risk to buy my guitar without being able to play it first. It plays amazing and I’ve rarely had any luck in a GC finding a guitar of this quality and uniqueness.I simply can’t say how happy I am, if you couldn’t tell.
Closed early.
Friendly, knowledgeable and competitively priced! I purchased my new Roland Td-17 drum set from them. They had it in stock and beat the best internet price I had found. I was just happy to keep it local, but they saved me a few bucks as well! They have a huge selection of musical instruments as well as full service/repair department.
Probably one of the best guitar shops Ive been to. Theres not much to look at, in general, but the folks here are awesome. The repair shop is cool too. I highly recommend this spot over any other guitar shop in Tucson.
After a particularly horrible experience at Sticks N Strings, I went to Rainbow. They are completely the opposite of the other store. LOTS of choices, great pricing and the staff are very open and honest about the brands, the quality and their pricing. Stephan ROCKS. (And so does the guy in the custom guitar shop...but, I forgot his name!) The staff are friendly and personable and just really fun to talk to. Ive only shopped their a few times, but they already know me.My ONLY criticism of this store...is the sign out front. Such an awesome shop needs a fresh sign. I cant tell you how many times I drove right past it, never knowing it was even open...it looks closed from the outside because the canopy sign is kind of faded. But seriously, thats IT. Once you walk in the doors, youre blown away.
This shop has the best sounding acoustic room Ive ever heard! They have a great selection for an experienced guitar player. However, on multiple occasions associates have been unengaging, almost rude. Not all, but a couple. Overall, this shop is definitely worth stopping in to when youre in beautiful Tuscon, AZ.
A wide selection if Fender Gear along with a plethora of other brands like Jackson and Gibson. Everything is pristine, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.
You have to ask yourself how many chances does a place deserve before you just give up and move on? Well for me it is 3 chances. This place has attitude for days. And it is just not worth it. Seriously man, why subject yourself to the abuse? It is a shame since I am a professional musician who buys tons of gear year round. I guess I will stick with Vintage King, and Reverb to buy my gear. I dont get attitude when I exchange money for gear with them.Truly bummed about this place.
The store staff are great, but I was there to have a couple of issues with my bass fixed. The luthiers at Rainbow are terrific. My 92 Carvin LB70 never played so well!
I was so glad I checked with Rainbow before I made my final purchase. Our church will be saving just over $500 in comparison to their competitors. Joel was extremely helpful and is very knowledgable. I appreciate he willingness to take the time out and answer all my questions. I am glad the church I pastor is not far from this store. I will happily be taking my business there. I would like to also mention, everyone was very helpful, even when I called, Peggy was real helpful and was able to get things taken care of quickly. I wish I would have started doing more business with them sooner
Great shop, not always the quickest but only because theyre in such high demand. Theyll set up your guitar/bass (Ive done both) fantastically. Repairs are pure quality.
I cannot imagine a better music store environment. The best gear, fully competitive pricing, and absolutely the most informed and nicest sales team. I have been a customer since 1979. Keep your money local!
Well organized, great selection of quality gear and helpful employees who do not pressure you
Friendly, knowledgeable staff, clean store, lots of merchandise, but they offer a lot less on trade-ins then other stores!
Great place. Great service. They are undergoing a remodel. Nice to see a place like this time tested and growing.
Very nice selection of high end instruments, but kinda miss the old days when ypu would just about trip over all the stuff they had on floor stands..
Cool little place! First time there and i was impressed. Prices are about the same as guitar center. Employees were great, greeted right away and all my questions were answered in detail.
Very nice place. Helped me with good information.
Got such awesome service today! This is definitely the place for your gear needs! #ShopLocal
I got a Les Paul T a few years ago. Purchase experience was so much better than I thought it would be. Been playing since The Beatles played on Ed Sullivan Show. U dont have to be Jimmy Page to know you got a great deal!!! Thnx Rainbow!!!
One of the last locally owned shops, probably one of the bigger & maybe even best stocked.
I think this place is awesome. Stefan-the acoustic guitar guy is very helpful. I learned things about Martins that made me want one! He goes to conferences to keep his knowledge up to date. (he had just gotten back from one somewhere). They carry quite a selection of acoustics and even if you drag in your 30 year old acoustic from HIGH SCHOOL they wont laugh at you... much. In a great location too. .Kudos to a small business that is STILL here. Shop local! Support small business.
I used to always get gear here when they had more price variety, but currently theres literally no gear that costs less than my car! no longer catering to the average struggling musicians that got them where they are, it now feels like an irrelevant museum full of old folks ready to slap your hand.. the repair dept next door is great tho
Came in with a broken guitar. Got my questions answered in less than 2 minutes of walking in the door, and I was given the small parts I needed for the fix for free. I decided to buy new strings, and he gave me 20% off because he thought it was too expensive. Hands down the best guitar repair in Tucson and I will always recommend.
Totally love this place . I wish it wasnt so far away. could live here
These guys are so willing to help! They fit the guitars to my kids and were very willing to answer questions I had and find the style and price that were the best fit for us!
Have purchased 3 Taylors over the years and have been totally satisfied, including service after the sale. Buy stuff here.
Excellent place. Every musician in town goes here. I love Mike Sydloski hes an incredible guitar teacher. If you need guitar lessons I definitely recommend him!
Always a great experience. Reed and the guys in the repair shop are friendly and full of knowledge..real pros...I highly recommend them..
This place has really gone downhill. Salesman told me he could make me a deal at $2100 for the guitar I was looking at. When I pointed out the guitar and the case were already marked $1999 he said he needed to consult his inventory to see if he could really sell it at that price.
Recent amp purchase was handled very well. Custom order delivery date was confirmed with a phone call to the manufacturer while I waited, no guessing by the staff that may have resulted in disappointment. Competitive pricing, total price including tax actually slightly less than what can be found on the internet with free shipping.Great store with a staff that can make a difference in the outcome of a sale versus the big corporate stores where the staff is powerless.Support this excellent local shop. This type of place is on the extinction list in the current big corporation environment.
Friendly knowledgable staff. Been in Tucson forever. They are a big part of our musical community and have been solid for equipment choices.
Not my favorite place. They have this attitude that they are more important then the player they are there to serve. I cant stand businesses that are of the attitude that we as players are there to accommodate them. They are there to serve us. Since Rainbow seems to have lost sight of this basic premise, I would recommend you look elsewhere for your musical gear needs. Because this place will only disregard those needs. If you do purchase something from Rainbow Guitar, they will with a smile on there face, overcharge you. I mean REALLY overcharge you. I have given business to Rainbow over the years. But that is going to change. I would rather go to Phoenix for my gear needs then suffer the pompous attitude and overpriced merchandise that Rainbow is offering. I was charged 20 dollars for a capo. I dare them to say they didnt do it. Bust out your receipts Rainbow. I dare you. But wont hold my breath.
Searched the internet for a Taylor 814ce DLX. Rainbow had the best price far and away, so I ordered it on their website. Received a call from the store manager the next morning asking how I wanted it set up. Phenomenal knowledgeable customer service. Arrived 2 days later packed for protection. Beautiful instrument exactly how I requested it. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Just a classy organization all the way around!
Wonderful service on the purchase of a new acoustic/electric Martin. I had some neck issues about 2 weeks after purchasing it. They fixed the buzzing and restrung it free of charge. Ive also been helped in the guitar pedal area too. They worked with me to get the right pedals to create the new tone I was wanting to create. Cant say enough good things about the shop.
They diagnosed my problem, told me how to fix it and tightened my truss rod for free. They know their stuff and dont try to upsell you. Theyre enthusiastic.
V very professional and good repair very very well experience Workshop
Professional both in the service depth and sales.
Great guitars. Terrible sales staff. I have never seen people that thought they were so cool. No one said hello even after 1/2 an hour of trying different guitars. They could have sold me one today if they tried at all.
Two years ago I discovered that my Gretsch 6120 had a neck problem.I brought my guitar to GC and was immediately was told it was not possible to repair. These guys did a bang up job; and 2 years later the work is holding up.
When all is said and done this is the best music store in the state.
The best place to go for no hassle shopping and friendly people... especially Clay and Vic at the drum counter because drummers are super the best
Gave them my Les Paul for repairs. Week later picked it up and they had done nothing thinking im stupid. This store assumes your dumb right off the bat. If you play their guitars for over a minute they approach you like a car salesman trying to get you to buy it or leave. They asked 2 people to stop playing while I was in there. And their prices are insane! Overpriced merch and rude staff. Also tried to get a cable for my dual rectifier. I left it there overnight, came back to get it and they lost it. 90 dollar cable! Its been that way for 20 years.
Mike Is The Best ! A huge PRS Afficenado!!!
These guys are great. Very friendly. Very knowledgeable. Large selection of guitars, amps and effects.
Best in town !!
Our church bought sound equipment and microphones recently. Staff very knowledgeable and the prices were better than online. Appreciated the help & service.
Very helpful staff, although some of their suppliers can be slow with shipment. However, this is out of their control from what I understand. Overall they have a great shop with knowledgable employees.
Coo, local shop whit a ton of nice stuff.
High quality guitars at great prices. They do repairs and will fine tune any guitar bought from them.
This is worth coming to Tucson for. Bring thousands of dollars or just your love of guitars.
Great selection and although the salesman helping me had to get to lunch, he did not rush me and set up a new amp for me to try. Forgot his name but, thank you.
It was totally awesome the gentlemen at front counter eas totally awesome dont know hes name TOTALLY 🎸 IT IN
For a guitar store with a reputation like Rainbow, it is surprising that they act like they dont want my money. I will gladly offer 5 stars for the selection and quality of the instruments, but I have been shopping around and twice left with a pocket full of cash.
My fender Mustang sounds great you guys thank you once again 😁😁😁😁😁
Jeff at the the Rainbow Repair Shop is outstanding ... VERY knowledgeable and VERY friendly. 2 thumbs up for his excellent customer service!
I stopped by there with a Vintage Mandolin that needed tuning. They were friendly and helpful...tuned it right on the spot.
I had a great time. And the dude working there let me check out all the guitars.
I was testing a guitar I wanted to buy when one of the employees walked in and said play a less expensive guitar and he just grabbed it from my hand.when I had the cash in my pocket to purchase the guitar....Im never going back.
Service is great there! Helped me looking for what I needed!
Great Shop, Great People, Good Selection and a lot of expertise for what you are seeking. Highly recommend. SHOP LOCAL, Support locally owned businesses.
On my visit I was not allowed to go into the Recording/Keyboard room. Sign on the door said I could not go in without an employee present. That made me feel a little odd. Then I was told no one was available to accompany me into the room. So, I was like....so I cant go in there? The guy just disappeared without saying anything. I had my son with me so we walked around and finally a dude came out and said he would go in the room with us. He unlocked the door, followed us around and basically was glued to my side the whole time. He wasnt rude, he was just in the way in a uncomfortable sense. He said we could not audition the KRK 12 Sub, something about someone was out for lunch and we had to wait till he came back...sounded made up to me. Second visit. The room was open. Again I was interested in listening to the sub but was told they didnt have any input source to play through it. I was like...OK. I sheepishly offered to use my cell phone as an input device while he mumbled something about using a keyboard but then he never did it. Then he started saying I better have a really big room for that. Like he didnt think I should buy it LOL The store seems cool but I dont think they want to be bothered too much. I probably wont go back for any big purchases, just for little stuff, in and out. They have a nice selection. They have really good reviews too, I dont get it....
Excellent selection of low to high end guitars and accessories. My store for quality instruments!
Incredible selection and you can deal with them on prices.
As a guitarist since childhood, this is my favourite shop. Everytime I am in Tucson, I drop by.
Great spot with very helpful staff.
