I went in today with my nephew. He turns 18 tomorrow. I had to sign a document taking responsibility for him since he’s under 21. We were doing a qualification for new job as a security officer and since he is turning 18 he meets the age requirement according to the state and Arizona Department of Public Safety. Assistant manager/instructor was confrontational on what we were doing and I explained to him we were doing the qualification for armed security guard. He proceeded to tell ask “how’s he doing the qualification if he’s not 21 and he doesn’t meet the requirements.” I explained to him that he was turning 18 tomorrow and he did meet the requirements as of tomorrow if he passes the qualification. I had another one of their employees jump in the conversation and stated “well he’s the instructor he knows what he’s talking about” to which I replied I am also an instructor licensed by the state of Arizona and the NRA. I told him I know what I’m talking about. I then took out my phone and asked the assistant manager/instructor if he wanted me to show him on the department of public safety website that the minimum requirement is 18.This guy is in charge of training yet doesn’t know the age requirement for armed security guards? This is one of the classes they offer. Furthermore it’s none of their businesses if a person is of age for a state issued license, they are a private business not a government agency.

The Marksman Pistol Institutes policy is shooters that are ages 10-17yrs must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. NOT a security guard instructoror Aunt. The post regarding security guard qualification leaves out key points of the interaction and is misleading.

This place is absolutely wonderful. I read several mixed reviews so I was a little skeptical. I took the intro to revolvers class there with my daughters last week and the instructor, Rich, was phenomenal. We learned so much! I had not been here for a few years. I was surprised to see how far this place has fallen. The employees told me that they have not had any supplies like ammo, paper targets, gun cleaning kits, holsters, ear or eye protection to sell for a long time. They had ear and eye protection to rent for the range but nothing to sell. There was one person using the range. I have never seen this place this empty. It looked like they were ready to go out of business. Very disappointing.

I would avoid this business like the plague. It is falling apart and the owners have a very poor ventilation system on the indoor range. Their pricing is way out of line at $15 per person. The staff is the rudest I have ever encountered. They do not belong in the business. If you want to rent one of their guns, you can not use factory loads and have to buy reloaded ammo from them at a marked up price. I will never go here again.

Indoor range with friendly, helpful staff. Have been here twice as this range is closest to my home. Was my first couple times on a shooting range in 20+ years. Staff was friendly, courteous and helpful on both occasions. They do have ammo, but itll cost more than if you brought it with you. Accessible by bus, an indoor range within city limits is quite convenient. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get some range time in who doesnt have the time to get outside city limits to open land.

Went to the one on 29th st. The range was fine and the workers were friendly the two problems I had was that you have to stand up the whole time while in the shooting area so if you have people waiting while you shoot they all have to stand up. This place is a joke dont waste your time.Randomly closed for classes or anything else. Very rude and ignorant staff. Rules are enforced at random with no consistency. It is not climate controlled, hot in the summer cold in the winter. The ammo they sell is the most garbage reloaded junk Ive ever seen. Paper targets are outrageously overpriced. My wife and I took a semi-private revolver and semi-automatic pistol course at the Marksman Pistol Institute on 29th Street yesterday. It was an excellent experience and we learned a lot about gun safety, handling and shooting both types of handheld guns. Steven was an outstanding well qualified teacher and held our interest for the entire time. After some time on the Range, he said that we both shot more accurately than quite a few of the deputies that he has trained!

I had heard of Marksman Pistol Institute from some friends who said you could rent guns at their range - something I was severely interested in because I do not yet own a pistol, and have little to no idea of what is involved in taking care of one. When I entered Marksman, a gentleman named Craig assisted me almost immediately upon entrance, asking me what I was looking for, and walking me through just about everything I needed to know about pistols when looking to purchase one. I then rented (a little more expensive than I was expecting) several handguns and shot them, and with Craigs coaching, learned a little bit about my stance and handling the gun. An excellent place for a beginner to learn and understand what is involved in handling or maintaining a gun, as well as getting to try them out. If you already know what youre looking for, the inventory may be better elsewhere - but the indoor range is perfect for a rainy day.

Went to the shooting range today and the guy asked if any of us were police, firefighters, emt (usually they stop here, but he went on...) nurses or *doctors. I said I was, and he asked for verification. I showed him my license and he started laughing, saying Veterinarian? Do we give discounts to veterinarians? I said, Well Ive worked with police K9 units if that helps. They looked to the manager who shrugged and said, Sure.Im pretty sure youd get farther when you need me than a podiatrist, optometrist, psychiatrist, pediatrician, dermatologist, etc. Why would you thank them for their work and not veterinarians? Why ask if youre just going to disrespectfully challenge the validity of my lifes work? Save your discount.

Recent visit marred by lack of professionalism and basic decency. It is a shame that there are so few ranges available on the east side of Tucson that this is still a consideration. Been coming in for years typically the staff at the 29th location are better than the staff at the Prince location. They do have some pretty ridiculous rules. Once I got told not to touch my phone when I was hitting the ignore button on it because it was vibrating in my pocket. Today I was in 29th and heard the most ridiculous rule at first I thought the staff was just joking with me but they told me some of my paper targets looked too much like “people” and that I couldn’t use them at their facility. I usually come to this place because It’s convenient to sight in a pistol or break in a new gun but shooting a single lane and not being able to shoot and move or use targets that I use to train on makes this place only good for basic stuff. I won’t say I am not going to come back but if I want to train and get better at shooting I’m gonna go somewhere else. If I want to just work on basic marksmanship fundamentals and I don’t want to drive to Pima pistol club or out to Florence I’ll go to this place. Still pretty disappointed that a gun range is scared of being politically correct and won’t allow you the freedom to use whatever paper targets you buy.

The entire staff was rude and made the entire experience unpleasant and uncomfortable. This establishment is extremely sexist.I’m the wife of an American Service Member and the daughter of a Law Enforcent Officer (both of whom were present.) When I stepped outside (to tie my hair up,) Chuck assumed that I had left the range because it was “loud” and “scary.” He made condescending comments to me about my “inability” to handle the noise, comments I doubt he would have made if it were my husband stepping outside. While waiting on the lobby area I witnessed the same discriminatory behaviors toward other customers.

My husband was shot in the forehead last weekend by a ricocheting bullet. The employees seemed like they were concerned and gave us some paper towels to help stop all the bleeding and took an accident report but have yet to call us to see how my husband was doing. We ended up at the hospital were they had to remove a piece of bullet the size of a dime that was lodged in his forehead. Thankfully my husband is doing alright but this was a serious incident and I think the Marksman institute should have has some kind of safety protocol in place for accidents like this. I believe they should have called for an ambulance, had a first aid kit ready, carried through with the call back to see if my husband was alright and maybe even discounted the $97 that we spent to shoot which we didnt end up shooting but one round..... So you might want think of your safety before going shooting at that location.

I have been going here with my father for about two years. There was an employee by the name of Richard that came off rude from the beginning. He spoke down to my father about the retired military discount special. We ignored the behavior and went and shot.It was as were packing up that Richard stood maybe 6 inches from my father and aggressively told us about the no water rule on the range as well as not passing guns from lane to lane while packing up. Two things: if anyone were to walk in at 12:45pm on July 1st, 2017 you would not see rule signs posted for water or the passing of guns from lane b to be packed at lane a. The second there is a way to go about explaining rules without being condescending and excessively aggressive. Unfortunately this was the first and last time we will be treated this way and will be going else where. This is also where I received my CCW - again its a place we have been many times throughout the years. For the no shorts rule, there were multiple people in shorts at the range today, I only brought to their attention 1)rules to should be posted 2)they should be enforced consistently - business 101.

Dont use their FFL services to have online purchases shipped here. They didnt send their information needed for the online store to ship the weapon for a week. When asked why, they said Our office girl who handles faxes was out sick for a week. I know the fax machine can be pretty scary. After dealing with these staff members, Im sure she is the only one qualified to handle this complex wonder with buttons and flashy lights called a fax machine. After having been lied to twice by two of the staff about the info being sent and we cant refund your fee because they sent the info already, I got an email from the store where I bought the weapon and was told they hadnt received any emails or faxes from Marksman Pistol Institute since July. So I was entitled to the refund for services not rendered at that point, up until this morning, 1 day later, when I called about the refund and to notify them that I made the store put my orders shipment on hold until further notice, the third person to lie to me said that they received confirmation of shipment and that it would be here in two days. You all lied, the owners of the stores should fire all of you for being more interested in playing circle target hell on the clock than making sure your paying customers are treated fairly and honestly. Do yourselves a favor and dont do business here.

Unless someone is incapacitated it is their or their friends responsiblity to call 911. We all have cellphones. But they should have asked you if you wanted one. Should everyone that has some bleeding expect people to call 911 for them. You have the ultimate responsiblity for yourself. However, find it difficult to believe that the range does not have a very good first aid kit. This should include fast clot patches. Next time there I will check with the owner about their response package and training.I have not seen ricochets from anyone that is shooting at the target. The berm at the back of the range absorbs the rounds without any additional movement of the bullet. The only thing that could possibly cause a ricochet is hitting the target holder which is made of metal. But all the ranges targets are taped to a cardboard strip that drops the target about 5-6 below the holder. This is a basic handgun range that works. (Can shoot long guns that use handgun ammunition.) It is well ventilated so you are not breathing fumes. You are allowed to lift up the loading table to practice straight draws. A must to practice for personal protection. But they need to pay better attention to maintenance. Some lanes have good lighting in the booth some do not. Carpet looks years old. Loading tables in each lane are showing their age. Not all equipment is kept in lockers so some cleanup stuff is laying around. Large targets are a very reasonable $1.50Staff is knowledgeable and will help if asked. They will go over everything if you want to rent a gun you are unfamiliar with. They stand back and observe making sure everyone is conducting themselves safely. I find them acceptably agreeable but not overly friendly.Gun rentals: They have many of the most popular handguns. It is only $10 and you can exchange from or to any of the guns they rent for no additional fee. Your only additional cost would be for the reloaded ammunition they sell if you dont have that caliber.I have paid for a yearly membership. This is just a basic range and not some type of shooting club with all the amenities they would have.

If youre on the fence about getting to the firearms community, go spend and afternoon here punching holes in paper. An average 1 hour visit comes to around $40 to shoot 50rds of 9mm through various handguns.
