Large grocery store. Wide variety in every food youre looking for including produce, cheese, olives, wine, organic, gluten free and bakery items. Aisles of water, soft drinks, coffee - ground and whole. Milk along with oat, coconut and almond milk. Large frozen section too. Stracks on Calumet has a larger frozen food and organic, natural food area. Oh and a huge selection of baked beans along with organic types. When I was growing up there were 2 choices .. now dozens of choices. Fabulous floral shop: plants, bouquets ready to pick up & floral vases for numerous occasions like anniversary, sickness, just because, friendship, or funeral. Friendly staff. Enjoy your grocery shopping experience at Stracks!!

The staff are very friendly and the store is always kept clean. My only real complaint is that the store seems to move the items around once a week so I will have to hunt around for an item or ask a store associate to help me locate it. When I go Im almost always there for Instacart or just to grab a couple of items I didnt feel like driving all the way to Walmart for. They definitely have a great selection of items especially the cheese but the fact that I can guarantee an items location for more than a week is very annoying.

Another great Strack store. Everything was definitely up to par. Workers were real helpful. Had what I was looking for...and some things I wasnt looking for.

There was so many different options of fresh fruits and vegetables. They even carry some of the more exotic fruits! And at a really reasonable price! They literally had everything I needed and then some. The sushi was pretty good. I got some fresh bakery items, which were delicious, as well! There were sale items up and down every isle. The store was really clean. Staff was very friendly. This is actually probably the best Stracks Ive been to.

Always clean. Lovely floral department. Well organized store. Glad to be able-bodied but wish they would ask if youd like a carry out. Bring your reusable bags to receive $.05 for each bag they fill.

I have ALWAYS loved shopping stracks...but I veered away sadly because the prices are WAY higher than competing stores.i do more shopping at Meijer now and Aldi. Stracks is a beautiful looking store but too pricey.

Got a beautiful red/black rose in a globe (very Blackhawks -esque). Their rose globes are amazing...great idea for Mothers Day, just saying. :)

There is 7 people in line at 8am and 1 register open and some girl name Felicia just standing there talking and no one to bag groceries and take them out better off going to wal-mart and they stink too but at least there prices are lower !

What happened to the level of customer service Stracks used to have - they used to ask you if youd like help carrying your groceries out - nope not any more; I asked the cashier to include a large bag of ice in my order and I asked if the staff person (bagging my groceries) could grab it for me, since he was standing there not doing anything, he told me no, get it on my way out. wow- Nice customer service. It has definitely gone down hill. Maybe theyre too focused on their renovations they just dont focus on their customers any more.

The staff was very friendly and polite. When We were greeted when we entered. The person working behind the cheese counter was super nice and informative. I was also delighted to find this store Carries crumpets. Also love the variety of goat cheeses. I was also happy to find that they carry Oberweis milk. Overall great shopping experience!

If you have vegetables dont even bother with the self check out. Their system was pourly designed and requires a lot of employee approvals. Plus the employees are much faster and nicer.

Stracks is our grocery store. Were in and out of there several times a week. Its an average grocery store as far as what you find inside. The staff is great, though; helpful and knowledgable in their areas, and they seem to get along with each other as a workplace family. Glad to call it our neighborhood store.

Strack & Van tils is the best they are the right size grocery store it, has anything you need and its a small enough store to where it say stays personal with the customers and employees the best.

EXPIRED items, everywhere. They dont care if lines are 20 minutes long. No RESPECT for their owns customers. This store is ill prepared for businessPLEASE CHECK YOUR EXPIRATION DATES !!!THEIR ONLY THERE TO MAKE MONEY

Nice store, but I dont care for owners or general management.

I hate a place that takes advantage of its own customers. Expect to spend 10 - 20% or more then you would at other grocery stores. And dont always trust the meat sales. Been scammed a quite a few times now.

Management poor, Cashiers average at best. Has been going down hill for the last 2 years. Store is clean most of the time. If you need a particular item, they almost always have it. Though, you will have to pay a little more.

Ive only been to the Valpo, Rt 30 Stracks a few times so Im not sure how viable my experience is to the regulars but all the workers Ive had to ask for help were very quick to answer and help me with question(s). Nice store. Nice people.

Strack and Van Til is a local grocery store and they carry everything you need. They are trying to step up their game and be competitive with the other stores in our area. The one thing I really dont like at this store is their produce. Every time I go in the produce has turned or close to turning. What really saves this place is they have the best international section out of all the stores in the area!

Cashier made a comment that could have been taken in offense had I been a different person. Nine the less, great produce, especially the foreign food section. May want to give cultural sensitivity training to staff if youre serving that community.

Go there first for what I need!

Im at the store virtually every day. Its very clean and well-stocked. The managers are very attentive to detail. The staff is very friendly especially in the checkout aisles. Ron, Austin and Adam are exceptional!

Not a bad place, interesting layout. Prices are about average, depending on what you want. Always nice to walk around & get some free samples! Pretty good customer service for the most part. Very clean & organized as well. Would recommend.

I have been shopping at this store for approximately thirty years from when it was Costas and under the present owner the people that work there are friendly and most of them know me I would recommend this store to anyone. I love it because the attack and Vantil family taught enough of Indiana citizens they repurchased the stores back

So I was at the store with my girlfriend we went to the self checkout lane had a birthday cake and 2 boxes of chicken among other things and both the cashier and the staff and the self service station kept staring at us as if we were in the process of stealing made our experience highly uncomfortable and when our receipt printed out they turned away and starting acting like they were doing other things Do not recommend this place if this is how they treat their customers!!!!

Tony, the produce manager, in the middle of stocking, took the time to stop and explain how to pick a good honeydew melon. He also made sure we got what else we needed. He was very kind, personable, & knowledgeable. I appreciate the high level of his customer service. Thank you Tony for the fruit knowledge, the conversation, & the honeydew! I highly recommend Tony & the produce department @ Strack & Van Til. I will return.

Every worker is very professional. Its annoying how every time I buy alcohol they have to call someone over because all cashiers are 16 to 18 years old mostly. But I get it. They barely pay minimum wage so those are the only ppl that will work there.

Stracks bakery has always been my choice for celebration sheet cakes. I picked up my grandsons graduation cake for his open house on Saturday. I was very happy with the decoration, good tasting cake and tasty frosting. However, when we took the cake out of the box, it was short on left side and tall on the right side with a dented slope in the middle. It was noticeably slanted which of course was not noticable in the box when I was shown the decoration at the store. Everyone did enjoy the good taste of the cake and I would order from this bakery again, but more attention should be taken as to the appearance of the finished product for the price paid.

Got a carry out chicken dinner from the deli. Everything was old and stale. Roasted potatoes were hard.

Great hot/cold food bar. Sushi is on par with restaurants. Plus they offer a large selection of organic, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan, dairy-free, and local foods. They have bulk candy, nuts, and loose leaf tea. Bonus points for having actual butchers and fish counter.

Nice store. Recently remodeled. Very good wine and beer selection. Fresh sushi! Lots of specialty items. Soup, salad, hot food bar. Deli, bakery.Not the cheapest store around, except for frequent sale items, but they have many things you cant get anywhere else in town.Really friendly people. Also, the store is not so big (i.e. Walmart) that it doesnt take a half an hour to get a gallon of milk.

They have a lot more to offer than the 2 Stracks in Hobart! But always room for improvement!

Our cashier, Josh I think was his name was very good at multi tasking and being curtious to his customers.

It had what we needed and was a clean, modern grocery store, but the prices were significantly higher. They even seemed to be higher than other Strack & Van Til stores. I usually shop at the Strack & Van Til located in Hobart, Indiana located on Route 6 by the intersection of Routes 6, 51, and 130.On top of the higher prices, Ive never been in a grocery store that had more of a snooty feel to it. Perhaps that is the reason for the prices, that they are focused on and cater to a different social class than that of middle class. But groceries are groceries, especially when youre purchasing brand name selections and there is no difference between them at this store and somewhere else, so no matter how nice the interior and set-up, it doesnt justify the higher prices. At least, not for me.

Great store! Fantastic organic and natural selections. I am.impressed with the ethnic food selection.Of the 4 locations of Strack & Vantill, this I look forward to being on that side of town to do my shopping.I hope that the company that buys the company does not screw up a winning format
