We brought our banjo clock all the way from Florida for repair when visiting family in the area. They were extremely professional, gave us all our options and repaired it in a timely manner. The clock looks and works like new. So pleased!!Wonderful clock shop!
These folks are awesome. They will help you understand what you need to do to maintain your fine clocks, and will take care of any problems you may have. Super glad to have such knowledgeable clock experts here!
I have used the shop for my needs a few times. Twice to fix cuckoo clocks. And they have been beyond helpful. They love what they do. Extremely polite and welcoming and patient with all questions. I have also bought a clock from them and they are not trying to sell you the most expensive one but the right one. On occasions when I went with some minor problems with my clock (this time around washer and bolt missing from cuckoo clock) they were kind and gracious as ever. They refused to charge for such a small piece as they called it. When I insisted they pulled out a charity box and asked me to put whatever I wanted. This was my experience twice over. I would pay a premium for anything they sell, the next time I want to buy something they sell. Love the shop. Love the owners.PS - Every visit I wonder who they are training to make sure that the tradition of the ship continues. I hope they have a plan.
The couple here are wonderful. I’m 0 for 2 but they never charged me a penny. My first clock, a 100+ year old Ansonia wasn’t worth repairing so I donated it to the class that teaches clock repair. But they lose a star for when I brought in my Hamilton 31 day clock that had dropped to 14 days. She told me no one works on these Japanese clocks and I should consider myself lucky it lasted for 35 years since they only should last for 12 to 15 years. Just live with it. Gave some bad advice on how to remove the hour hand - “it just wiggles off”. It is actually held by an oblong nut. So I took it home and removed the works, wiped them down and put synthetic clock oil on the bearing points. Now it is back to a 31 day clock! I would have paid them to do that.
Very nice and congenial owners. Very honest and straightforward regarding the condition and repair of my clock. Highly recommend The Clock Shop for any repairs and purchases.
After one visit, I know this is the place. Donny is a knowledgeable craftsman, transparent, and a good educator. Its clear clocks are not just his business - theyre his calling.
Great staff. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Donny and Gail offer great advice, service and value with warm professionalism. I highly recommend them.
Yesterday, I had the good fortune of walking into the Clock Shop. I had acquired an antique clock, which I was sure was in need of some TLC in order to keep it running smoothly. As it turns out, the clock had been so mistreated that it would be pointless to try and service until it had given up ticking. The clock keeps time, but needed some adjustments to chime correctly. Donny took the time to make some minor mechanical adjustments, taught me how to maintain the clock and showed me how to make further adjustments myself. After a good 30 minutes of his time, I was impressed by his knowledge, patients and willingness to give me a good amount of his time without charging me a penny. He could have easily gouged me into a complete and expensive overhaul. Instead, he sent me home knowing so much more about my clock and armed with the knowledge to keep it chiming on time. Seeing all these reviews regarding his rudeness makes me sad. Donny cares very much about his craft and is clearly happy to help anyone who wants to take the time to learn a thing or two about what makes your clock tick. When the day comes that my clock DOES need the expensive overhaul, Ill head right back to The Clock Shops dutifully deserved reserved parking space. Thanks Donny!!
Came in thinking I needed a cleaning and tune up, instead of charging me, they were able to determine it was simply me not winding the clock fully. Must have spent a good 20 minutes chatting and even after offering to pay for their time, they declined. Class act.I would like to address two other reviews:Parking is very limited on Church street. The owner has every right and motivation to make sure their few parking spots are only used by their customers. To think otherwise is to not realistic.I work in a technical field and it is common for the very senior, in skill, or very experienced, to not have the greatest social skills. They have spent tens of thousands of hours honing their skills that is often spent in isolated environments. However, these folks have a tremendous value in their knowledge and capabilities. No one can be everything. No one can be perfect. You are going to the shop to talk about clocks, not socialize. Please keep things in perspective before you start writing a review.
I brought in a simple wall clock that Id tried to fix myself. In 10 minutes the Clock Shop guy had adjusted the mechanism so that its now running perfectly. Cost = $3. Cant beat that!
Absolutely Love this Place!Donny, Gail & the Crew...Everytime I see them its like coming Home. One of the Best Spots in Vienna Hands Down!Honest, Hardworking and Knowledgeable...If you need to know anything clock related, this is where you have to be!
Very helpful. Delivered, installed, and explained everything to me.
I inherited from his estate a clock which my father had put together. It looked great and kept time, but I couldnt make it chime. Clock Shop owner gave me a thorough tutorial on the mechanism, what could be wrong and how I might fix it. Thanks to her generous gift of time and teaching, it is now functioning beautifully.
The male there is truly an unhappy, unprofessional and discourteous person. If you are looking for any kind of recomendation, stay away from this shop!
The selection of clocks and grandfather clocks here are truly incredible. The customer service is very friendly as well. Easy parking for the store right in the front. A good visit if in the area.
The owner was able to diagnose and fix my two antique clocks problems within minutes! He and his wife were very helpful and reasonable. (They didnt even charge me for one of the repairs). I will definitely bring all my clock repairs to this shop!!
This is a beautiful small store filled with many wonderful clocks. I took a family heirloom in for what I thought would be a lot of work and the owner spent about 15 minutes going through it with me, touched a few spots with some oil, made a couple of small adjustments and sent me out the door with a new winding key and my good-as-new clock for just $15. Thats a great deal. While I was there we talked about the parking situation that other reviewers have referred to. This store is a stand alone building - not part of a strip mall with a shared lot - and I think it is absolutely rude that people would take issue with the owner trying to keep the spots he owns open for his own customers. Judging by the number of people who came into the shop during my own short time in the store, he needs them. People need to stop acting so entitled and leaving nasty reviews when they get called out for doing the wrong thing.
This clock shop is great. They have a variety of clocks at reasonable prices, and the inside of the clock is constantly ticking and chiming. The guy who runs the shop (I dont know his name, though I normally refer to him as clock man or clock wizard) has been working on clocks for 40+ years (so he tells me) and clearly knows what he is talking about.A word of warning: clock wizard can come off as extremely pompous. If you want to ask him a question and you mix up the terms chime and strike he will sigh and correct you mid-sentence. I think hes just mad that the rest of the world does not know as much about clocks as he does. That said, he can be extremely helpful and kind. I purchased two clocks from his store and have since moved about 300 miles away from the area. I popped in the store one time while visiting family and he walked me through the process of oiling a clock with a spare movement he keeps behind the counter. He then gave me some clock oil so that I could maintain my clocks myself. I have since oiled both clocks without issue thanks to his instruction.
I went to the store a number of years ago when I lived in Vienna for a clock issue. Thought the owner was rude possibly because I am younger than most of his customers. He receives a late one star for that visit. However, what prompted this review is the fact that my wife and I both had separate confrontations over the years with him due to parking in an unmarked spot next to the five minute parking spot to pick up our dog at the Vienna Pet Spa. Although you are in the pet spa and parking spot for two minutes, he will follow you into the spa, ask you if it is your car although he apparently sits in his store window and waits for cars to park, and argues with you for 10 minutes even though he has at least two open parking spots labeled for his shop and knows why your car is there. It is completely unnecessary and he should worry about fixing clocks timely and finding customers since his spots were open in busy Vienna at lunch time. Dog lovers and anyone looking for a clock or clock service should look elsewhere because he is not focused on his craft and business, but would rather harass other people since he has nothing to do.
Donny knows all and is happy to share! Wonderful experience.
Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful folks.
******** THE PARKING ISSUE *******Please realize The Clock Shop owns the (4) parking spaces in front of the shop. We are located between two fine eateries and a host of other retail stores. The 4 parking spaces are posted as private and reserved by 13 (thirteen) individual signs. Yes, we are sensitive to people parking in these spots and walking away. When someone ignores all the signs, we will verbally request they move. People carrying clocks in or out need and deserve these close by spaces. Until our OPEN sign is turned off for the night, we will reserve these spaces for those actually in The Clock Shop. OUR customers are the ones who are entitled to these parking spaces.Mr Koval,Since you knew your wife had been asked not to park in the driveway before, why would you continue doing the same thing? My reasons for posting the driveway with do not block are valid enough to post towing signs. The five minute pet drop off spot is The Clock Shops property and we willingly let the Pet Spaw use it, we even share other spaces with them if we are asked. We do not allow parking or waiting in our driveway and keep a camera on that area to help enforce that. The spot was very well marked, but at your suggestion we have added more signs.
This clock shop is full of clocks! Lots of cool grandfather clocks, carriage clocks, and even your basic alarm clock. Check it out!
I like to come to this shop. They have wonderful collection of wall clocks. They also have decorative table clocks, which you could buy as a gift. The staff is always friendly, very nice people.
Very rude people working here. Fat lady acts like a know it all. I don’t understand how a business run like this is even still open.
He looks like he works on clocks
I have a grandfather clock that was operating erratically. I was expecting to need to have the clock repaired; which I knew would be very expensive. Donny told me that the clock was in acceptable shape and that it would probably run well for years after only a servicing (removing grit and re-oiling all bearings) This was much less expensive and invasive. The clock works great.
Old clock, quick repair, you get what you pay for. No up charge.
If you looking for rude service, this is your place. I’d suggest going somewhere else for your clock needs.
Great work, few people do this anymore
Took a 1961 British Factory Time Clock to the shop. Not running for more than two years, after running for decades. 50 minutes later, not only was the clock running, but I had learned why it stopped, what to do if it did it again, and how the clock (any pendulum clock) runs. Don, the clockmaster, is a good teacher and knows what he is doing. Full marks from us.
The clock shop of Vienna is totally awesome.
Owners are so knowledgeable and friendly - the store is certainly a gem.
Extremely knowledgable staff and helpful. Help me with a old Seth Thomas clock.
Very nice place!
Many beautiful clocks!
The owner is extremely rude about parking.
