Would not negotiate on price to be competitive with other dealers in the area and used unethical business practice such as price gouging as leverage not to negotiate. When a customer is ready to spend $60K plus and the stealership will not budge on the last $1k difference you can tell they put more emphasis on the button line than their customers.I would not suggest this dealer for anyone who has any common financial sense and has gotten there with making smart and valuable financial decisions.

For the average person who makes good financial decisions and expects to be treated fairly, this is not the place. They are using this inflated market to price gouge people and practice unethical conduct to make a quick buck today and ruin their brand for the future. From the condescending sales people who smirk and laugh at customers making offers and brushing off serious buyers, to ingenue sales mangers who support this type of behavior to gouge and Nick people looking for a fair price and good deal, I do not recommend this place to anyone who has any kind of financial sense even when making such a large purchase. Weve been dragged for two months and made promises for a car only to know that they would not negotiate a competitive price of other Lexus dealers on the coast. They made us feel less inferior and at their control by using the shortage as a coy to price gouge and not work on a mutually agreeable price. Horrible people, horrible managers and horrible business practices. We have bought two other cars from Priority not to mention family members working for the same outfit. One will be a fool to do business with this dealer and feel like they call the shots when you are trying to spend over $60K at this stealership.

If you’re looking for a used Lexus vehicle at this dealership, you will pay $8000 to $12000 more than other dealers within 1-3 hours drive radius, and that’s before they try to hit you with a bunch of fees, packages and products you don’t need after you sit down and discuss financing. The only fees you should be paying are Sales Tax, Title fee, License fee. From experience, dealers in Norfolk try to hit you with a “doc fee” for hundreds of dollars, there’s no law in Virginia stating you have to pay it so refuse to pay and be ready to walk out if they try to force this on you.The car I looked at was almost $40,000 at this dealer while other dealers are selling the same exact car for ~$28,000, granted 10k more miles, but still no excuse for such a high price, not even the “certified pre-owned” sells pitch can justify such a high markup. I noticed the same pattern of greed with other models.Best of luck!

It was a stunningly bad experience. We were close to inking the deal when we realized we needed more information before we purchased.Amazingly, the car salesman showed his true and sad character.Because, now that the deal might be delayed, the Lexus salesman, instantly became rude, demeaning, abrupt, and dismissive.He was deceivingly hiding behind his outwardly smart outfit - khakis, white shirt, and blue blazer, while representing the Lexus brand..What a farce. A joke.It was reprehensible behavior. The salesman, fell way short of living up to the Lexus brand,an image of class, dignity and elegance.Don’t buy an auto from Tom. Or think twice before you do.

Had a wonderful experience buying a nice used Lexus from Charles Barker! The salesman, Scott, did a great job and really went out of his way to get us a good deal. He wasnt too pushy about making the deal happen either, which is definitely my type of sales person! He also followed up a couple of days after the sale to make sure everything is going well and asked if we had any questions, which was a nice touch. All the cars we looked at were all super clean, scratch free, and in really good condition (which wasnt the case with some other dealers we consulted unfortunately). The whole process was smooth, easy and very pleasant. I would definitely recommend giving them a visit if youre in the market for a new car!
I was very disappointed to find out that the priority warranties were only for the 2016 and newer vehicles.
I’m going to be honest. I wanted a new Lexus, well I mean who doesn’t? Anyways I sat down with Daryl who is a wonderful sales representative. He walked me through honestly what I would pay and how everything would work. We mentioned my financial situation and instead of pushing me into a financial place I’d be extremely uncomfortable, he was honest and advised me to wait until I could get what I wanted. Very professional and kind atmosphere. I loved it!
Service department is a complete rip off. I was told my power steering reservoir and hose sprung a leak and needed to be replaced. Less than 48 hrs later the same problems arose that I initially took it in for and when I took it back in the power steering pump sprung a leak and needs to be completely replaced. Not sure if my vehicle was inspected prior to, after the install, test driven etc. but my vehicle was not road worthy in my opinion. My vehicle was given back to me in a Hazardous condition with no power steering fluid, hazard lights on, power steering was completely lose and was very dangerous. Very disappointed in the service provided and I dont recommend getting your vehicle serviced at this location at all!
Went and got my son is first car 2016 is350 f sport. Jeff Dunlap is the man to go to he has far exceeded our expectations!! Pleasant to deal with very customer oriented and beyond helpful he even went out of his way to drop a spare key off 30 miles away from the dealership we purchased at to another dealership which is more convenient to my sons location! If a manager sees this review please call me mr Dunlap needs a raise!
Well, even though these guys do some pretty good work, please do the research about your car issue before taking your car in. Parts Dept will try to fib about certain things to make you pay extra without actually fixing the problem. I Literally had to call Toyota in Chesapeake to get the correct answer to my answers. Not knocking the dealership but o will most definitely get a second opinion.
We purchased a used Toyota Highlander from Charles Barker Lexus and have been very pleased with them. Within a week of purchase we had a small issue and CBL took the car, remedied the situation, and went above and beyond expectations. As a State Farm agent who deals with dealerships on a daily basis, I will definitely refer business to them and will purchase from them again when the time comes.
The service department is terrible. Poor customer service. I have been transferred several times with no one able to assist me. I would not recommend service here.
So today is July 7, 2020 I bought my car in June 13 2020. My sales guy was Donell Johnson very great guy very helpful. Would recommend anyone to him but I received a phone call from the finance department a whole month later saying that they forgot to charge me $3586 on my sales tax. And now they want to send me a contract to do over the finance so they can include that $3586 in my loan my bank told me that the contract that I signed originally is what they will honor and nothing else. Now I don’t know much about finances but this definitely was a mistake on there which. I think they are all the way responsible for this. so I can receive my registration the finance manager Ben told me that he’s gonna send me back my money because I do not have the money to pay that after the car has been at my home for bout a month and I will be liable to register my car on my own after I told them that’s a mistake on their end and they have to pay for it. He then tell me he will be send me back the Money I pay for the tax and I will be responsible for the rest of the tax and register in the car myself. Finance manager name is Ben smfh. This is just not the way to do business
A company that permits employees to retain private licensure information without proper disposal. A company that allows the creation of fake check stubs to ensure people get approved for car loans. A data breach on behalf of Charles Barker that has occurred on a repeated basis by a particular employee without consequence or reprimand. The industry should not be stained with a burdensome reputation like this one. It is imperative that Charles Barker address these issues accordingly.

Main reason why I haven’t been back to purchase/lease a vehicle is because when I initially came in my sales person took me as a joke. I’ve wanted a Lexus for the last year. Ended up with a Honda but I was still willing to trade it in for a upgrade into a Lexus. No one appraised my car while I was there and I felt like my needs were glazed over because of the assumption that I can’t afford a Lexus. Best of luck to you all though. It’s unfortunate because y’all were the closest Lexus dealer and now I’m planning to buy elsewhere.
An early Christmas gift arrived in my e-mail inbox from Dave Adams, Service Manager-a complimentary state inspection coupon! After an on-line appointment setting, I arrived and was immediately greeted by a friendly service writer who escorted me to my service advisor Andy Ruiz.He warmly welcomed me; accepted my coupon; indicated it would be about 45 minutes; so I settled in the comfy waiting room with freshly brewed coffee and a yummy muffin! I explored the Boutique gift shop where smiling Vanessa, always helpful, proudly pointed out the well stocked shelves of Lexus accessories.Only after 30 minutes, Andy brought the inspector Tommy who explained the required repair to my rock chipped windshield.They recommended Steve, of the Glass Shop, for repair; who came out to my house the next day.What great services all around. Ill definitely return for all of my services!

This review is specifically for their service department, particularly the service writer ***A. R.*** for his *extreme* lack of professionalism. Please see timeline below:1. Arrived 5 minutes before my service appointment. Typically, I wait in the vehicle for a attendant/service writer to meet me to discuss what needs to be done service-wise. This concept seems to be foreign to Charles Barker Lexus as there didnt seem to be any service writers out front. I witnessed 2 customers who pulled in after me run around and flag down whomever they can. For such a premium brand, this is low budget behavior. Ive seen better service at Honda, Toyota, and Subaru dealerships.2. When I finally caught his attention, not even a hello or anything and didnt even get out of his seat. A minor annoyance. Rather than discussing my needs, he just hands me a paper and points to where I need to sign. Again, a minor annoyance but what if I had other service needs that needed to be addressed? Thats lost revenue for Charles Barker Lexus.3. While waiting for my car, I noticed there were other service writers going to each customer in the waiting area and detailing what was done, might need to be done and even the state of the car. The service writer I dealt with felt it was appropriate to call my name and announce my car was ready and proceeded to walk away.4. While paying, I had noticed that the service fees werent entirely correct. The cashier asked me to discuss this with A. R.. When I walked into his office to discuss this, he didnt bother to even look at me and audibly sighed. Again, not the type of attitude nor service I expect with a premium brand.This will likely be the last time I bring any vehicle to Charles Barker Lexus.In fact, you can likely take your Lexus vehicle to a Toyota dealership for service (same work, lower rates, better customer experience)! Id also like to mention that there are quite a few reputable independent mechanics who do the same work (if not better) at much lower rates than Charles Barker Lexus.
This Place will Find any reason to charge you for any and everything. Once I thought I got fixed whatever they asked to get fixed I bring it for inspection a month later and Now it needs more work.... Find a better place . And the Staff does nothing to make this experience any kind of better...

I initially had an good experience with Tom Sawyer upon my arrival at Charles Barker Lexus. I told Tom i was interested in white, red interior, moonroof 2020 RX 350 F sport. At the time the dealership didnt have that exact match so i decided to test drive red interior, black no moonroof 2020 RX 350. Test drive was great. Tom tried to find my exact RX request and have the vehicle shipped to Charles Barker. But had no success. A few days later Tom called stating he found my exact match and could have it shipped. i stated give me a day to think about it. I called back 2 days later stating i was interested in the RX. I had a preapproved loan from bank and id be putting down a large payment. I tried negotiating with Tom and told him id seen the exact match for $7k cheaper than the one he i initially wanted to sell me. He informs me that the RX he found a few days ago was no loner available (which was false) and if i saw it cheaper elsewhere id better jump on that deal, because he wouldnt be able to beat that price. Needless to say 3 days later i found my exact match at Flow Lexus of Greensboro with a team who was eager to accommodate request and closed the deal at the $7k cheaper price taxes included! Tom didnt take me seriously and missed out on a huge sale.
First, Id like to give a BIG thanks to Chris H @ the Va Beach location, hes prompt, straight to the point, courteous and had me in and out with my loaner in less than 5 minutes. Excellent. Keeping me updated for the duration of my service. Give this guy a promotion or something.However, when I received my car back, it wasnt washed, had oily/greasy hand stains on the light grey upholstery and was covered in bird droppings from sitting outside. Now Im not quite sure where the ball was dropped and I get it, the car was pretty clean already, I came in at 7am to pick it up and being that Ive owned/operated a car detailing business in the past I have a more critical eye than most but I dont think I should receive the car back in worse condition than when I brought it in. I bring my vehicles here for the professionalism and quality of service I believe should accompany owning a vehicle of this category. The face of the team is great. Everyone is polite and friendly and the experience feels miles above any other service location Ive been to in the area which is why I pay the prices I do to bring it to CB. I just dont think I should have to detail my car after I pick it up when the ticket says complimentary car wash. Bird droppings are like acid on a paint job and its cold outside. :)Nevertheless, again, Thanks Chris!

The worst experience I have ever had. My car came out worst than what it already was. My glove department completely fell out and detached from my car after they replaced my main fuse. My main fuse wires were improperly installed and caused further electrical issues. When I took my car back to check why, their reason was “human error.” For me to have paid 1400 dollars that I didn’t really have, I am totally dissatisfied with their service.

Three stars may be a little generous. Every time I go in, I get this feeling that is best described as Im pretty sure theyre trying their best to screw me. They dont seem to want customer satisfaction nearly a much as the money. I give them credit for the veterans discount, but theres definitely an air of established treachery and price gouging.
I went to the dealership in Virginia Beach a few months ago and was extremely disappointed with the overall experience mainly because of the salesman Tom.Because I was extremely interested in the car and Mr. Sawyer seemed confident that the dealership could get me a better interest rate than the bank, I let him run my credit. That was a HUGE MISTAKE. Mr. Sawyer then told me that because I had too much negative equity on the vehicle I was planning to trade in, no bank would finance my loan. Mind you, I have already told Mr. Sawyer how much I owed on my current vehicle BEFORE agreeingto let them run my credit. I felt cheated that he waited until after I submitted a credit application to the dealer to say that there was no point in running my credit.THEN the next day, Mr. Sawyer contacts me and says that I might be able to finance the car I wanted if I give them X, Y, Z, etc.Once everything is said and done, Mr. Sawyer tells me that all the banks he and the financial advisor talked to said I have to put $6,000 down before Id be able to finance the car I wanted if I was going to roll over any negative equity from my current car. So basically I have to pay off my current car.The worst thing that came out of this whole ordeal is that I now have several additional inquiries on my credit report based on the one credit pull that Mr. Sawyer says the dealership performed. Im still getting letters in the mail from all of the banks that Charles Barker submitted my credit application to. SMH

We came in tonight about 5:50 after work... The website states they dont close until 8, one of the salesmen informed us to come back tomorrow because we close at 6... I informed him that we came all the way from Suffolk. He continued to try and push us out... Fortunately Mr. Rose stepped in and was very understanding. He went so far as to pull up a vehicle and let us sit in it as he went over every feature in the vehicle. We were well past 6pm by this time and everyone left except Mr. Rose who was extremely patient. Charles Barker came very close to loosing a customer tonight!! Thanks Mr. Rose for staying past 7pm.. We will not purchase from anyone else.
Looking to buy a CPO RX350, I contacted several Lexus dealers in a 150 mile radius of Richmond. With the exception of Barker, every single one of them played games: listing vehicles not in inventory, bait-and-switch, dead Carfax links, claiming they aren’t allowed to share the CPO inspection information, hidden fees of several thousand dollars, etc. When I politely asked one sales manager a second time to provide some basic information, he told me to go buy a car somewhere else, which I was only too glad to do.In stark contrast to this, Nick Ehmann at Barker Lexus in Virginia Beach provided without hesitation all of the information I requested and provided a clear, line-by-line out-the-door price that was more than fair. No games. No withheld information or prevarication. When I had follow-up questions, he answered them promptly and thoroughly. I wouldn’t think of buying a Lexus anywhere else.

I came in to two different Charles Barkers service shops for a service to be done on my steering wheel since it was being cocked to the left. The one in newport news did not see the solution nor heard my concerns to my standard. However, I was not going to give up my search to the solution to my problem and I was able to see Virginia Beach service shop. Mike went into the detail of my concerns and i felt. like he cared about my issue during my phone call as to why the steering wheel was cocked to the left. During the visit, he. explained how the team were going to fix it, and the relief to hear that it was covered under warranty! Newport News did recommend a service that was going to cost me out of pocket and recommended that I leave the problem alone. Thank you Mike Moore for hearing my concerns and your dedication to customer service satisfaction is highly appreciated and will be coming to you guys this forward on. Thank you!

Daryll made sure I was comfortable and all my questions answered before each step. Very professional and courteous. Bought a new RX and was called a week later and told I owe an additional $5000.00 because they made a mistake in F&I This is poor business practice and between the Salesman, F&i and Sales Manager, kept hounding me for the extra money. I asked to speak to the owner, Mr. Barker and was referred back to the Manager. They clearly did not want him to know! I wish he would contact me directly on this matter. The salesman told me he has made that same call to other customers...looks like a scam in process. The Manager called me and said rudely I had to pay it because they are not a bank. YOU MADE THE MISTAKE!!!!

When I leased my lexus. I told them I was scared of mileage. They reassured me I would b ok. I tried to turn it back in when I got postcard to let go of all extra fees and was told I was over mileage. Most dealerships say 15,000 a year is good. Lexus screwd me sayinig only obligate 10,000 miles a year. Was not discussed at signing or antennas would have gone up! Knew they would scre we with me. My car has been well taken care of. I said I needed to be way below My payment of $564. Started saying 48 months at Over $700. Really?
I live on Hatteras Island, NC and the closest Lexus dealership is Charles Barker in Virginia Beach which is 150 miles away. I lost my key fob to my Lexus IS350 and was stranded on a small island with no way to start my vehicle, having no choice but to tow it to the closest Lexus dealership.I called in a frantic panic mode on Friday morning and the Service Manager Dave I cant say enough great things about! He helped me out tremendously by personally taking time out of his day to do everything he could to help me with my situation.I cant thank Dave and all the staff at Charles Barker Lexus enough! Everyone was very professional and courteous but above all thankful for the Service Manager doing everything he did after the situation I was in.If you are looking for professionalism, honesty, a dealer who cares about the people who drive their brand of vehicle although I didnt buy my Lexus from Charles Barker, however going forward any services I need done I will be making the 2 hour commute for these guys to handle it!Thank you so much Dave and for your staff in the service department!

Several years ago I brought in my wifes 250 in after the doors started to disintegrate to due a fault that was identified several years ago with the plastic by Lexas. We tried to get it fixed but they said it was no longer under warranty. Im very disappointed in your service. In the future please fess up and resolve issues that were made in your manufacturing process for the customer.
