Really cute ice cream shop. We stopped by twice while in Virginia Beach, since the flavors change fairly often and we wanted to try the new ones. They were all delicious and unique. Prices are also very fair, especially for the fun extras, like cotton candy. The one negative is that the ice cream melts really quickly, more so than typical soft serve.

Super cute & very IG/social media friendly-atmosphere. It is not your typical ice cream parlor, as they have very unique flavors and toppings. We tried the sea salt ice cream with cotton candy as the topping; it was delicious! I would definitely recommend it!

No one has raved about the amazing milkshakes! I had to drive back to Chesapeake so I ordered the oreo cookie Milkshake with their sea salt icecream mix... holy moly... that was the best Milkshake Ive ever had!!!! I will drive all the way back just for this Milkshake!!!! My son ordered the banana soft serve and it was tasty! It did melt super quick so beware. Im happy we stumbled here for something new and unique! I plan to go back, probably in a week! Ha!

I’m surprised it wasn’t busy! Ice cream is so pretty it’s actually hard to eat it. Staff was super friendly too! I came here because I HAD to try sea salt ice cream, and it was great. I definitely will be a frequent flyer since they switch up the flavors often.

Very tasty soft serve. We really enjoyed the sea salt and kinder chocolate mix and the kids loved kettlecorn and pop rocks toppings. Was a little disappointed by the limited amount of soft serve flavors offered (4 or 5) and would like to see some more exotic flavors. Would definitely pick Geralds Ice Cream Bar if I had to choose.

My favorite gourmet ice cream shoppe in VA Beach! Belgian Chocolate is to die for! Also to the staff—please bring back Raspberry and Blood Orange sorbets — they were fantastical! We go here at least once a week. Staff is super friendly too. Overall a Very unique experience. It is becoming a local landmark and is nothing short of amazing. Thank you

Really tasty ice cream flavors and toppings! I highly recommend getting the sea salt ice cream paired with a type of chocolate! I think their philosophy is really cool how they switch out ice cream flavors bi-monthly. Especially for the people who are bad about exploring different flavors!! LolThe only con about that is you might fall in love with an Aqua S ice cream flavor that is only temporary, nonetheless so delicious.

Stopped in from out of town and was pleasantly surprised at how great this ice cream tasted.Definitely more sophisticated flavors that rotate. I tried the Cranberry Apple with sprinkles and a toasted marshmallow. So much yes!Bonus points for the excellent and polite customer service!

I love this shop! The ice cream flavors are different and delicious and it’s an Instagram dream!The photo attached is bubble tea and sea salt swirl. So good. The house flavor is always the blue sea salt which is light and nutty with a slight caramel taste.Be sure to follow on Instagram for flavors which update twice a month!(pro tip: they also have secret flavors)

I don’t leave reviews. I can’t remember the last review I wrote, but my experience was poor enough that it’s worth writing a review so others can have realistic expectations. An employee gave someone else our ice cream, didn’t acknowledge it, 30 minutes later when we asked where it was they made a few excuses and went to make it. Also, the sea salt ice cream is VERY salty. My wife and I love salted caramel but could not stand this.

Clean fresh place to try a different kind of ice cream. It was nice to be able to sit inside and enjoy the ice cream. We had hard ice cream in tiny tubs and enjoyed different flavors without being overwhelmed with sweet taste. Service was great!

My first visit to Aqua S was like Zoolander opens a ice cream parlor (my sons quote). We were just leaving Pelons Baja Grill, both located in the Hickman Place Shopping Center (a new shopping area at the corner of General Booth Boulevard & Nimmo Pkwy). The shopping center is named after the historic Hickman House, that was moved a little further down the road (and is rumored to be housing a future coffee house). Some of their other storefronts include MOD Pizza, Elegant Nail Spa, Velocity Urgent Care, First Watch, Aspen Dental, just to name a few. According to the staff, they officially opened in December 2019.Aqua S is a business based in Sydney, Australia, with franchises around the world. However, it has a very anime/fantasy vibe to it...not the traditional down-under earthiness. When you walk in at night, you are practically blinded by the stark white and bright lights of the interior. Youll notice some neon lighting, as well. One of their humorous signs states I got served in Virginia Beach. As a local, I can appreciate their humor. There are a few tables and uncomfortable chairs where customers can perch, if desired.Surprisingly, there are only 6 flavors of ice cream offered, at a time. They do allow you to sample their ice cream before selecting your flavor. The flavors are pretty unique. The night we visited, there were the following flavors: Mocha, Cranberry/Cherry, Sea Salt, Matcha, Pandan. Cant recall the 6th one. However, their website states that they change out flavors every two months. If you check out their site, you will see some very unique flavors...Sweet Corn, Black Vanilla, Thai Tea, Rootbeer, Gingerale (which I wouldnt mind tasting). They also have some flavors in containers that are available for purchase, which arent on their regular soft serve ice cream menu. You have a choice of getting your ice cream in a cup or cone.It aint cheap...an ice cream cone with no additional toppings, etc., comes to $5.30, including taxes...Yowser! In my opinion, the soft serve was comparable to Dairy Queen. The trending add-on of the night appeared to be a cloud of white cotton candy that is wrapped around the cone. If you bring kids, anticipate maximum stickiness!

Very neat little place to grab a different dessert. I agree with the review about it being geared more for the refined palate, the flavors are on the exotic side. A few vegan options as well. We got a cone with cotton candy and it was absolutely beautiful!

The Instagram of ice cream stores. Fancy and tastes good, looks good. Kind of pricey at $5 a cup/cone, but it is very tasty. Not really a place to being kids. My three all didnt like their ice cream and didnt eat almost any of it. To be fair, they are the worlds pickiest kids, but the flavors are a little sophisticated. On the plus side, I got 4 servings of ice cream, so thats a win!

The sea salt is a consistent banger. Every flavor Ive tried was amazing.

Aqua S is located in the Hickman Place shopping center, which is at the corner of General Booth Blvd. and Nimmo Pkwy. They opened about a month ago in December 2019. This is their second location to open in the USA. Parking is plentiful in this shopping center, so parking would not be an issue. My most recent visit here was on January 16, 2020.Aqua S is based in Sydney, Australia. The owners of this location actually found out about this place during a visit to Australia (theres a full story of this in the Virginian Pilot as well). Several years later, its now open here in Virginia Beach.When you come inside, the place looks like winter. There are lights that make it look like clouds, and it is bright lighting in here, so you can see the place very easily both inside and outside. Some of the lighting is also neon, which is a cool touch to this place. One of those signs is I got served in Virginia Beach. There is seating available inside as well, but can be limited during peak times. Restrooms are also available at the back of the place.As of the time of this review, I have now visited this place three times. Between these visits, I have also been able to meet the owners, who are really nice to talk to. The staff are very friendly as well. They genuinely want you to try things out before deciding on a flavor of choice. You can try out the different flavors that they have at that time before choosing what you want. Just note that each sample is one flavor; there are no samples of mixed flavors.The ordering process is very simple. They have a system to pay by cash or card there. On the screen, you can also sign up for or sign into your existing Aqua S account to earn points for rewards later on. Points are earned based on total amount paid before taxes of course.They also have some flavors in containers you can purchase separately that arent on the regular soft serve ice cream menu at that time. Flavors are updated twice a month, on the 1st and 16th of each month. On my first visit, I did the Hot Chocolate ice cream. On the second visit I did the Belgian Chocolate ice cream. On this most recent visit, I did the Mocha ice cream. Each of those flavors were awesome. The ice cream is very smooth as well. You can get them in a cup or a chocolate waffle cone. For an additional charge, you can also add toppings to the ice cream as well.With this place being a local franchise, as others have already said, prices are a bit higher than other places, but this place is unique. It really is a great boutique ice cream place. For an ice cream cone with no additional toppings, etc., the cost will be about $5.30 including taxes (we know Virginia Beach is very taxing).How did I end up finding out about this place? It was actually from visiting MOD Pizza, which is located next door. I had been there several times when I saw signs for Aqua S, but they werent open or completed yet. However, on December 21, 2019, we were at MOD Pizza and they were now open by this point. After having dinner, that is when we had our first great visit here. This is a great dessert spot if you are eating somewhere in this area too.Overall, I have had some great experiences in the three visits that I have had here to this point. The ice cream is great. Yes, there are only a few flavors available at a time, but thats also what keeps bringing me back. Im all about trying different things. If you are in the area and looking for some dessert, I totally recommend coming here and trying this place out.

My friends and I have been counting down the days until Aqua S opened! And needless to say You all did not disappoint in the least! The Staff was so friendly in greeting us when we walked in the door, and took the time to explain the different options we could order. Everything from the decor to the way your cone or cup is presented is impeccable and you can tell that the Staff takes pride in making sure they serve you not only a delicious treat, but one that is perfectly presented to you for you to enjoy. We each ordered a different flavor in cups and cones. And I had the fairy floss added to mine as a topping. The first one was thrown away because it was not dispensed to their quality of standards which to me shows how much they care about upholding the Aqua S standards in serving their customers with the utmost perfection. We were all beyond impressed with the level of friendliness and professionalism. And the decor is simply AMAZING!! Definitely take advantage of the photo ops inside the store!!! Thank you guys for an amazing first experience!! We will be back for sure!!! 🍦🍿🍥🍦

At first I wasn’t a big fan of this place but after a couple visits it’s grown on me, the sea salt with vanilla rose was great!

Honestly rlly cute... i love the flavors theyve put out so far because its not the kinda thing you can get at just any ice cream shop... also love that they seem to kinda switch out different flavors with the seasons and all thatinterior is nice too, well-decorated in a rlly minimalist type of way, usually theres been just enough seating for everyone (though its gotten crowded both times ive stopped by)

The kids working there were awesome and very polite..... You can taste test food before you buy it.... They also rotate flavors out every sixteen days..... The overall experience was great for a first time buyer/visit....I would recommend everyone to try them out.... The prices werent outrageous either....I will be back again.... Thank you

Novelty place. Its so cute inside and they have unique choices, however, $12 for 2 small soft serve cones is a bit ridiculous. My ice cream was good but a few licks in and I couldnt taste any flavor at all. It was somewhere my 12 year old wanted to try but I prob wouldnt try again.

Not a place to go for good service or friendly service. My teenage son and his friend rode their bikes 3 miles to go there on a hot day and were met with a very nasty person behind the counter. Not to mention they were out of soft serve ice cream and only had little cups of ice cream like you can get at walmart. When they were going to get those instead and go to pay for it they were advised they couldnt pay with cash because this place doesnt have change. I dont understand how you have a business that is supposed to sell ice cream but you are out and you cant even accept form of payment other than credit . What a joke of a business. I also dont understand how you can employ such nasty employees. This is a business and you are supposed to be nice to the customers...even if they are teenagers Get it together!

Ice cream looks amazing and everyone is very friendly. However, we just went in to get ice cream and we couldn’t eat there. One child in our group had a food allergy. We asked about ingredients. The young lady went to check for me and per “the boss” in the back, they don’t provide any ingredients “since it is a franchise” and “advise anyone with allergies not to eat the ice cream”. They didn’t even ask what the allergy is.

Ice cream and topping selection are interesting but they are lacking traditional favorites such as plain chocolate or plain vanilla. It appears to be a trendy but not sustainable type of place. Id rather go to DQ.

Super soft serve. Butter toffee x sea salt is a great combo together. The other flavor in rotation was mojito. The three permanent flavors were sea salt, pandan, and Belgian chocolate. Will have to come back again next time to get a cone with fair floss so it looks like my soft serve is floating on a cotton candy cloud

I was so excited for this place to open but my experience there was so terrible, I will not be coming back. I witnessed one of the employees handing ice cream to a little kid and then snatching it out of their hand because it wasn’t “perfect”. The employee threw it out in front of the kid and made them wait longer while they made the ice cream again. To me, this seems like such a waste of ice cream and customers time. Extremely unprofessional and embarrassing for anyone who witnessed this. Please, do not waste your time coming here.
